Take this first week to familiarize yourself with the tools here. Once you get used to using them, it becomes easier to use them even when you are busy. Personally, I spent my first week learning to use the tools, and just tracking everything I was already eating and doing for exercise. It gave me a baseline to work from. It also gave me a chance to really decide what my goals were, and how to get there.

This site can only provide the support and the tools to reach these goals. You need to put the hard work in. Personally, I end up kicking my own butt every day. Feel free to check out my blogs to see how I kick my butt out the door to get my fitness in. I can tell you, once I am finished with my exercise for the day, I feel great. No more I should do this and I should do that. Instead, I feel accomplished, and able to relax and enjoy the rest of my day.

What I love on Spark People is that the support is unlimited! You need motivation, read up on the success stories and/or post a query and someone will be there to help you along. It is always difficult to start something new but Spark People make it so easy for us all to achieve our ultimate goals. Take it step by step: a) study the site, b) incorporate good habits from the beginning, c) start exercising, etc.

I'm still trying to figure out the lay of the land around here, but I'm glad to be back!
My roommate also joined yesterday, so with her support and being here I will hopefully be able to keep my motivation up to keep going this time! emoticon

Welcome back to spark people! I am also 31 and wanting to lose weight as well as get my activity level up, like you I eat pretty well most of the time. Since I have started back up recently myself I have lost 1lb. :D Yay for me and I know you can do it to :D We all can do it!! emoticon emoticon

Hi all! Thought I would take a second to introduce myself.
I just joined SparkPeople yesterday, for the second time ever. The last time was a few years ago and it just wasn't my time. Now, I'm back and am ready.

I'm Erin, 31 from Canada's wonderful East Coast in Nova Scotia.

By the time all is said and done I'm hoping to drop 59lbs, to get down to 165. Though my goal right now is to just be more active and start feeling better. I eat pretty well (most of the time anyway! haha) its my activity level that needs the most work. So here I am ready to go at it again!
