Hi Joyce. I have had fibro for 24 years now. I also have asthma and osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. It seems as though we have a lot in common! You can message me anytime if you'd like to talk.

There are lots of people in this group that have fibromyalgia and I hope that you have the opportunity here to get to know some of them. Michelle our co leader has fibro so you might want to mail her she is great to chat to!

Congrats on losing 7 lbs that is great and finding the motivation to go to the gym also is great. I have lost 16lbs since starting with spark people and it has been easier than I thought. I just walk my dog every day when the weather allows. It's been snowing here in the UK for the past day or two so haven't been able to walk him.

Please join in with team chat and feel welcome to join in with goals etc.

Katie

Welcome! I hope you stay in touch. I have never been diagnosed with fibro. But I suspect that maybe what I have. I have had chronic pain and inflammation etc. and have had every test done from exploratory surgery to CT scans etc. I have never had a final diagnosis that fits. But I guess the diagnosis does not matter as much as taking care of myself. I have really been enjoying using Spark people and I hope you will too.

emoticon I was diagnosed as having Fibromyalgia 10 years ago, though I suffered with it for several years before diagnosis. Being a sedentary person anyway, the pain did not encourage me to exercise at all. And, I comforted myself with food. I've always had to fight my weight--I am a yoyo dieter--but it is ridiculous now since I am 5 ft. tall with a beginning weight of 216 pounds. Two weeks ago a dear friend took me to a personal trainer and I go 2 days a week now. It's remarkable that moving as little as I did at the gym, I already see signs of improvement! First, I've lost 7 pounds--hooray! I see my posture improving and I'm moving around a bit easier. I discovered sparkpeople a few days ago--again thanks to my dear friend--and I LOVE IT! The Trackers are a wonderful help! So far nothing has changed with my Fibromyalgia pain as far as getting better or worse, and losing weight probably won't make a difference. But, I also have arthritis and severe asthma and I think those issues will be helped. I am excited to be on this life changing journey of learning to eat correctly and staying motivated to do so, and learning what exercises a person with Fibromyalgia can or cannot do. I look forward to hearing from other "Fibro" friends! emoticon
