Hi there. Do you have a Trader Joes or a Grocery Outlet store in your area? Or 99c store?
I find melons at 99c store & sometimes berries in the produce dept, eggs etc.
Trader Joes has organic foods & I find that they can be cheaper than Sprouts on lots of things.
Grocery Outlet has really good deals on lots of things but get it when you see it as ithey may not have it the next visit.
All the best.

Our farmers markets run from around the middle to end of May through October. So, in the off months, I have been shopping Sprouts for produce - it's less expensive than King Soopers or Safeway, and they have things that the regular grocery stores don't have like shallots by the pound instead of a big bag (so I can buy the two that i need instead of 20), and baby red potatoes by the pound instead of in bags...oh, and mcintosh apples for my hubby. :)

For other stuff, I go between the sales at Safeway, Albertsons and King Soopers or, I just shop at walmart (stuff like pasta, canned food, frozen veggies, etc). I am trying to meal plan around what we have in the house first and what is on sale second.... that seems to be helping.

:) ttfn... :)

Have a Splendiferous Day!

Welcome you can make it. Hubby and I cut our food budget way down bt checking the sales, using coupons and the best cost cutting thing has been that we purchase our fruits and veggies at the local farmers market. I go in with a 20 bill and we come out with so much for the net week et. My last trip was only 12 dollars as we had a lot in the freezer.. We found that we would spend as much as 80-90 dollars at the local supermarket. Just last week the green peppers were 2.99 and at market 1.00 each. Plus we have really tried many new things as they are avilable at good pries

Keep on track

Hello!! My name is Tonia, and I am a wife and mother of 3. I lost my job of 8 1/2 years in October and I am slowly making my way out of my black hole of sadness that has been the past three months of my life. One of my goals this year is to reduce my food budget by 40% while eating whole, healthy foods.

:) ttfn... :)
