good luck slim moi. i started my new "lifestyle" about 4 weeks ago. my advice is to take baby steps. i decided to challenge myself with a couch-to-5k running plan. it basically takes a couch potato like myself and trains me to be able to jog a 5k (about 3miles) within 9 weeks. of course, you can take longer to do it (which i may have to do!) but it gets me up and moving and it's like a game where i compete only against myself. so far it's been challenging but do-able. i haven't skimped out yet!

good luck with whatever you do! and i too am not much of a message poster but i'm learning!

Be positive. Stay motivated. Keep moving.

And I'm definitely going to keep eating :)

Hi Slimmoi:
I understand how you feel re exercise. I have difficulties getting started.
The best way I find, is to not look at it as exercise.
Just say I am going for a walk, get out and go somewhere, anywhere for say 7 min. and turn around and come back. That's 14 min done. Or if the weather really not fit for walking, put some dance music on dance around the house for 15 min. There are all kinds of videos on this site you can use to introduce yourself to different cardio and strength training (dare I use the word) exercises.
Make this a game. Track your exercise points on the exercise tracker. Set goals for yourself and try to beat yourself.
We all wish you well. Any questions please ask them, that's what friends are for, and everyone at Sparkpeople is your friend.

Hi Slim. You can do it. Everyone here on Sparks are here to offer encouragement, tips and advice and getting started, and all have goals that they want to meet. My advice is to make sure you use the Nutrition Tracker and keep track of everything you eat or drink. This really shows you everything about what you are eating and it really keeps me accountable to myself of just what I consume every single day. With the exercise try to find something that you enjoy, whether it be a walk around your block or even if you have stairs where you live...up and down and each week push yourself to do a little more. Exercise doesn't have to be in a gym with expensive equipment, just MOVE and then move a little more. Eventually as the movement becomes easier to you, you can add a little more. Drink lots of water too, it helps you feel full and it cleans out toxins so it's a win win :) You will make a lot of friends and there is always someone willing to share stories, or encouragement, you have come to the right place. Stick with it and you will soon be buying those smaller sizes. I reward myself for every 5 lbs of loss with a little something, maybe a new makeup or nail polish just find what will work for you :) Good luck on your journey to a healthier happier you :)

Always be a first-rate version of yourself, Instead of being the second.

Paula

Welcome to the team....I've been having trouble myself lately staying on track...and I so need to start again....I've found that taking it Day by Day and Baby Steps to make changes....SLOW and you'll find that you will start to enjoy your new healthy life....try walking 10 minutes and see how you feel...I bought a pedometer to count my steps daily and that keeps me going....it will/can happen. You can make some good friends here for some great support too...Good Luck
Jan
