I am behind schedule. The PoV rewrite took all of the main editing months, and then I just, putzed around doing very little for the editing finish month, too. Finally, I lost track of the entire schedule and didn't even notice we're a month into the two-month Prep portion.

Editing continues to be my stumbling block. I'm going to try and get my focus back onto that. I don't know that I can catch up at this point, but I should be able to make decent progress.

I have at least got my organization sorted out, with index cards. I've just got to get the digital copy sorted out so I can then work on editing so everything makes sense, I've got the stuff I need to add, and I've taken out the stuff I need to drop.

Whelp. I did not do the PoV swap in the Finish month. I have no looked at this since the start of April.

Guess that'll be part of my Edit phase *lol*

Okay! First draft complete.

Now I need to make a decision about the PoVs (thought I am leaning to trying the three first-person ones), and if I got ahead, decide if I want to start that rewrite now, or if I want to wait and do it while I edit.

I might just do it now, and have that be my project for the Finish month that's next in the 85K90 plan. That's probably the best idea, really.

I haven't done updates on this in a while. Oops!

Anyway, I hit a complete draft at about 76K, but I still want to reach 85K if possible. That seems like a lot to add in, but I'm something of an underwriter, so I tend to be able to bulk up on things like description and flavour without always sounding like I'm stretching.

So that's where I'm starting. I know I have scenes, for example, that take place in each protagonist's apartment. I'm less certain I described a single one of those apartments :P

The other thing I'm pondering, for the rewrite, is shifting it to first person. It seems to fit the genre better, but I have three PoVs, which means I need to be absolutely certain they can be told apart if I go this route. So I'm also using the extra words to try that out and see how they sound.

At least I know I've got a draft at the end of the Write phase for 85K90 :)

Hit the 15K milestone yesterday. The draft is coming along, though I'm not sure about the scene arrangement :P

I think I'm just going to finish this draft with the plan I created in December and then restructure as needed during the editing phases.

Okay!

In December I managed to get everything I wanted to keep into my outline, which also reminded me of plot points I added near the end of the draft and had then forgotten.

I've decided I'm going to keep refining the outline as I go, looking ahead in the evenings to what I want to write the next day. (I did not do that last night, but from here on out.) I'm also going to read over the previous day's writing before starting the current day, which will give me a loose edit pass and maybe make that stage a little easier when I get there in a few months. I'll also try to make notes for anything significant I want to change, rather than counting on remembering it, as I sometimes do :P

@OLDFASHIONEDGRL Ack! I know! *lol*

I let my schedule slip again last week, so skipped a few days. I need to make sure I don't let that happen for the rest of the month, though, as I think I'm only about a third of the way through.

I'm still trying to figure out how I want to write it. I might do each of the three timelines in order again, though starting with the earliest one this time. Then I can play with the reveal of information in the editing.

Working Title: The City Takes Us All
Genre: Speculative Fiction, Urban Fantasy
Draft Number: 3

This is a project whose idea side-swiped me right before starting NaNo a few years ago. I managed to shelve it that year, but have since pulled it down to give a shot at writing it a couple of time. One of those was for NaNo in 2014 and once was for the Scribophile First Draft Bootcamp a little ways back. (I'd thrown out the entire previously draft so technically it was a second first draft.)

The boot camp draft helped to resolve a few things for me, namely that I needed to step up the magical elements and technological elements at different points, and that a few of the characters needed to be tweaked to work with those changes. That means the draft I had is a bit of a mess, as I just kept going and left notes to myself for what to change.

I'm going to be working on this one for my 85K90 project in 2019, which I hope will let me see it through from start to finish.

Project Timeline:
- December: Re-plot taking into account everything I figured out in the last draft.
- January to March: Write new draft.
- April: Finish the draft if still incomplete, otherwise let it rest.
- May to June: Edit the new draft.
- July: Finish the edits if still incomplete, otherwise send it out for external edit.
- August to September: Get remaining external edits and proof-reading completed while prepping the file (getting the cover, etc.).
- October to November: Finish the file and publish it.
- December: Finish the publishing, if still incomplete.

Challenges:
This is one where I think the plotting will be more important than it usually is for me. The story takes place in three timelines, and I intend to intertwine the telling of them in the final version. That means I need to know what happens, when, and how I want to work the reveals, rather than just telling it from start to finish chronologically.

I may need diagrams for this one *lol*
