Hello everyone!

I just joined this team today! I've been on SP since July and have only managed to lose about 4 pounds. UGH...before joiniing though, I lost about 30. I'm trying to shake things up a bit with my exercise. I am a walker. I walk anywhere from 2-4 miles a day usually 5-6 days a week. I took yesterday off. I want to join this group to learn about different DVDs I can use, different terrains, inclines, etc..basically ways I can change up my boring walking routine. I am interested too in increasing my speed. I'm so happy to be meeting fellow walkers. I do have a walking buddy and to be honest, she keeps me going when I wanna just say NO. But, don't get me wrong, that only happens once in a great while now. I'm tweeking my nutrtion end and now it's time to shake up the exercise! Let's get this going!

On a personal level, I am a married 37 y.o. female from Mass. I'm a stay at home to an 11 y.o. stepson with adhd and mild mental retardation. So, home is always busy. I cherish my walk time. It is my ME time. I do suffer from osteoarthritis, deg. disc disease, bone spurs on my spine, neck and back spasms, and ulna neuropathy so walking is important because it does help with the pain I am in on a daily basis. My MD highly recommends it. So, I'm hoping with this and the tweek in nutrition the pounds will start to melt away!

Look forward to getting to know u all..Courtney emoticon emoticon

Hi :) My name is Jessica. I live in Tacoma, WA (close to Seattle)
I am happily married and am a stay at home wife. I have used WATP before, but never a whole lot.
These dvds are a great, low impact way to burn calories. I recently purchased the 5 Really Big Miles and love it, it gets you sweating for sure!

Howdy! I just joined today. I'm originally from South Carolina but live in New York.

I have Leslie's Five Really Big Miles DVD and I love it. I also use the Fitbit tracker to track my steps and usually do a minimum of 10,000 per day.

Everyone be well and take care of yourself. Rock on! emoticon

Hi! My name is Monica. I am 35, single, no children, and need to get healthy. I have been somewhat heavy most of my life, but during my unhealthy engagement I put on A LOT of weight. He supposedly like big women. Now that engagement is over and I have dealt w/most of the troubles of that engagement it's time I continue to move on getting healthier physically, mentally, and spiritually. I have fibromyalgia, PCOS, degenerative arthritis, etc. So getting healthy is not easy, but it is a necessity. Because of my ex-fiance I lost a lot of friends so I need support in losing weight. I heard that Sparkpeople is a good place for that. So here I am! Together emoticon emoticon

My name is Jessica. I hate those workout dvds I can't keep up with. I walk away feeling more like a failure than proud of myself for exercising. Leslie Sansone doesn't leave me in the dust. It is a confidence boost when I get all the way through the workout.

I have been finding that the Leslie DVD's are working well. I started with 4 miles and try to put extra effort into it ....doing it more energetically, with extra hand movements, or a little jogging. I have been minimally sore from this, so know that it is working my muscles.
(I am in pretty good shape from line dancing and yard work. 4 miles was the right length to start with for me, I know not for everybody though).

I have a question for you guys that are experienced with Leslie DVD's....
Do you think it is too much to do the work-out that I described above on a daily basis?
I think Leslie would say that we should walk every day. For me, I think my body would appreciate alternating with something else. Or maybe alternating it with either a shorter work-out or a less intense work-out??
Note: I am 62 and seem to require longer periods of time for muscles to recover, even though when I am exercising I feel strong and have pretty good stamina.

I would appreciate your suggestions on this.

Hello everyone! I'm LaShetta Wilder from Mississippi. I'm not new to WAP. I probably have every DVD imaginable. They are great to have when you want to do an early morning or late in the afternoon workout. Especially when the weather is bad, you can stay home and exercise. Hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do.

Hey there.... I'm Ruth from Michigan and I'm ready to walk away the pounds. I have a treadmill that I've been using for the past 3 months but I need to add a variety of exercises to do so I don't get burned out. I just purchased a stationary bike and now I'm going to do Walk Away the Pounds. Those should help in keeping me motivated.

Hi, my name is Raevyn and I am also a stay-at-home mom. I have 3 children, but 2 of them are already out of the nest. Sometimes I will walk outside with Nordic poles but I live in the desert and hate the heat. Most of my walks are the the WAtP dvds, in fact, I just bought two of her new ones.

Can't wait to get to know you all!

Hello Dawn! Leslie's Boot Camp really gives me a workout. I think it is about $15 at Wal-Mart. A 3 mile walk with resistance training. Her 4 mile will do the trick too.

Welcome to the Team!

I am new to this group, but not new to WATP! My name is Melissa, I'm 35, married with a 5 yr old son. I've been off track lately as far as exercise goes. I've recently started back to school to pursue my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I also work full time. Things in my life are hectic, but I'm going to push through and try to accomplish ALL my goals, a little bit at a time!

Hey I'm new to this team. I prefer WATP to all other workouts cause I get a better burn of calories in a 12 minute mile ... I wore the hubby's Heart Rate monitor and chest band a few days ago and the 10 minute-mile burned only 146 calories but the 12 minute mile burned 164 calories.

164 Calorie Burn in 12 minutes is Freaking Awesome.

I usually can stomp out 4 miles without being too too tired.
that is 600*ish calorie burn in less than an hour.
Yay for me emoticon

Hello everyone! I am not new to Sparks but decided to learn how to walk properly in hopes I can begin a new workout plan. I have pain and issues with walking that I hope to overcome. I lead off on the wrong side of my foot so no wonder I have issues. I am going to start slow and get with the program. Glad I found this team, I am looking for motivation!

Hi everyone!

I'm certainly not new to Leslie Sansone videos! I had gastric bypass surgery 10 years ago and this was my workout of choice. I started from the 1 mile and continued through the 4 mile plus adding 30 minutes of Pilates after it 5-6 times each week. I lost a total of 170 pounds.

Introduce new baby and totally new life and we have weight gain (not too bad) and no more exercise. No excuses, it is what it is and now I'm focused again on being a healthy mommy. My five year old could run circles around Leslie any day!

I'm starting over again at the 1 mile and will be checking in here to gain insight, be held accountable, and enjoy the companionship. Did the first one today and I can't believe I'm actually pooped! Goodness how things change!

Good luck everyone!
Nina

Hi all!

Leslie is always a great inspiration for me! I'm getting back on the wagon after a very long hiatus and can't wait to feel good about myself again. I really need some way to keep myself accountable and to stay excited about the process, though. I'm hoping that I can find some help with that by posting here...
