Good Morning Everyone emoticon
My name is Carolyn, last name is Whitney and I'm a retired high school biology teacher (WHITNEYTEACHER). I have arthritis in a lot of places, including my knees, so walking is my preferred exercise. Before I retired in 2008 I was driving 140 miles a day to work and back and would listen to audio books along the way. Now I listen to my books while I'm exercising. I don't listen to them any other time so I'm encouraged to exercise more so I can hear more of the story. I have several Leslie video's, I like the walking but not her constant talking so I mute the TV and listen to my audio books while I follow what she's doing.
My husband and I just moved from a house he had lived in for over 40 years (one month after he had major back surgery) to our new house in Southern Oregon. I just found a new walking trail that goes for miles and I can get on it only about a block's distance from my house. Unfortunately that block's distance is walking on the side of a very busy highway.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here, there's a lot more about me on my page if you want to take a look.

My name is Carolyn
(Whitney is my last name, I'm a retired high school biology teacher = WHITNEYTEACHER)

My name is Karen. I'm new to this team, but not so new to Sparkpeople. I have been around since 2006, very active in 2007, then not so much after that. Created a new account in 2011 to "start over" and then still have been hit and miss until about six weeks ago. I have been using WATP for quite a few years and now, I typically use them once or twice a week. My "go to" exercise is water aerobics, but I like a variety, too, so when there's not a class at the local Y, I will throw in a video for a change of pace.

Glad to be part of the team!

i had oral surgery and was told i had to take it easy, so no high impact exercise. i went to the libreary and found some Leslie Sansone videos. And i loved them! they used all my muscles and kept me in motion. they moves were easy and unlike dance videos they are not hard to learn or work sides of the body unevenly.

I now use the walking videos as a no excuse option to get moving even if i am tired or my body is not in the mood for high impact moves.

Hi there, I am Becky :)

I live in Maine, but work in New Hampshire. I have three beautiful teenagers, who live with their father in Nevada for the school year and with me in the summer (this is better for them educationally --better schools out there!).

I work full time hours crammed into two weekend shifts and one evening shift with a company who specializes in the community reintegration of people who have had a traumatic brain injury (either from birth or acquired) or some sort of developmental disability. It's a challenging position, but one that I really enjoy.

I have been with SparkPeople on and off since 2008 (eek!), and I must say that this site has been such a great help to me when I actually put it to use, lol!

I just ordered my first Leslie Sansone dvd (umm, the Walk Away the Pounds - Express - Walk Strong ) on Amazon today, and I hope to be using it by next week!

Any questions, just ask. I'm excited to meet all of you!

I'm Traci. Have been using Walk Away The Pounds off and on for years. Have stuck with it for the past 5 weeks though. (2 mile express walk). I had no idea this team existed. So glad I found it!

My name is Kelly. I try to do the 5 mile WATP video at least once a week. I also enjoy TaeBo and the Extreme Makeover workout tapes, but right now I'm mostly doing WATP - it's my winter go to workout.

Hi everyone, my name is Michelle. I have 3 grown kids (1 daughter and 2 boys) and 4 grandkids (so far; all from my daughter. She wants her own hockey team lol). I turned 45 in December last year and made up my mind that 2014 is MY year, I will lose weight and get fit and healthy. I want to be around for a very long time to come, and want to be able to enjoy those years! I went to my doctor in January (which I am glad I did, they found a heart arrhythmia and I had to do a lot of tests - everything came out ok!) and he put me on a diet (and Phentermine to help kick start the weight loss). I started my diet on Jan. 12th, and so far have lost 19.8 pounds! I am so happy. I use the WATP 3 Mega Mile dvd. I can't do all 3 miles at the same time (yet), although I can do 2 now. At the beginning I couldn't make it through the first mile. I usually break it up into three workouts a day, though. Sometimes I will just do one mile each time; sometimes I will do 2 miles. I feel so much better now that I exercise daily; I think I'm getting addicted to Leslie lol!

Good morning Sparkers! My name is Rose. I have been with Spark People for several years, but not always consistent. My weight loss though is almost 80 lbs and I LOVE LOVE LOVE walking! I prefer to hike out on a trail, but since I live so close to Lake Michigan, the weather doesn't allow it, so Leslie has become my indoor friend. :)

Happy Saturday! Stay focused and be blessed!

Hi I'm Jill ~ new here ~
Last year at this time I could barely walk for 10 minutes, a year before that I was in a wheelchair, I still have to use a walker for long distances, but I have lost alot of weight and am feeling great. Now I have signed up for a walk in April so I am going to continue doing my water aerobics and work toward finishing a 5K. WHEW!!!!

I may of been delirious when I signed up for this walk, but I am going to do this as a goal to possibly achieve, I still have about 90 pounds more I would like to lose. I do 2 hours of water aerobics about 3-4 days a week, and today I did 5300 steps in the pool, which is about 700 shy of a 5k.
I don't really know what I am doing but I want to try ~ help ? !

Just for today ..... it really is one day at a time

Hello! My name is Denise- I am 48, and I have 70 lbs to lose. i am giving myself a good year to do this. I have been off/on sparks people a few times but I joined up with sparks coach & I am staying accountable & doing well- 9lbs down in about 3 weeks. I have an autoimmune disease and it is hard to talk the heat in the summer so the walk away the pounds is perfect for me & with winter coming up I plan to continue. I just completed a 10 min. a day exercise challenge. Did that plus the walk away the lbs at least 3x a week. Just saw this team today!

Hi, my name is Samantha and I am 32 years old. I enjoy WATP workouts and I do a different walk six days a week and I add bootcamp dvds which are mostly strength training based on 3 of these days.

My starting weight was 104kg (229 pounds) and I am now down to 89kg (196 pounds). My goal is to be at 80kg (176 pounds) by the end of the year.

One of my new gols is to participate more in the community and I just created my Spark page yesterday. I am looking for accountability buddies who enjoy walking as their go to exercise.

Hello my name is Monica. I'm about 95lbs overweight :( . My entire family is overweight and has had bad health problems and I want to beat the bulge before it kills me.

I started trying to loose weight about 3 years ago and have kept 20lbs off but I found myself in a routine of working out past my ability and injuring myself (gaining some weight back) and once I felt better I would think I was 100% and continue the workouts only to injure myself agian :/

I did over half of a 6 week bootcamp program, was doing kickboxing, hiking and strength training classes while suffering sciatica pain and muscle spasms in my back that sometimes left my feet numb...

I'm taking it slow this time around, begining with walking, wish me luck!

Hi my name is Kourtney and I have always had a problem with my weight. I recently went to the doctor and found out that I have some heart issues. I had a hole in my heart when I was born and so I guess this is the aftermath. I need to lose 30 pounds and I want to do it by October. I love walking so I think this is a good choice for me. emoticon

Joined the team a few days ago. My daughter has me out walking a mile each evening after supper. This is day 3. It is far past time to get serious with this and get myself to a healthier weight. Walking is going well so far except for a nagging lower back ache that comes on about 1/2 into the mile. I don't know if it's my shoes or just old age! LOL Probably the latter unfortunately. Glad to have found this team, hoping to make some new spark friends to share encouragement.

Hello there! My name is Heather, and I am finally serious about getting healthy, and staying that way. I have back problems, so am pretty limited as to what exercises I can do, but started walking last month, and love it! I started slowly, and have gradually worked up to 4 miles a day 4-5 days a week. I love getting out there with my music, and just walking and clearing my mind! This week I am going to try and hit the 5 mile mark. Wish me luck!

Hello everyone,

My name is Annie, I'm 33 years old and I've been a member of Spark People a couple of years ago.
I really enjoyed it but I was not mentally ready at the time to accept the changes and put the efforts in to losing the weight.

Since the middle of 2012 though I've lost about 34 pounds on my own and I recently decided to come back to Spark to get the little push, tools and support needed to get me trough this journey and to help me be more consistent with it too.
I have a lot of weight to lose and I hope that with the help of God, efforts and walking again I'll be able to reach my goal.

I love the WATP DVD as they are easy to follow and effective for me and I think a good way also to start moving again.

I wish you all a wonderful and successful journey and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Have a nice Friday and a lovely week-end.

Hello everyone, I have been on sparkpeople for over 3 years but now I am serious. I got on the scale and was surprised to see that I had hit 200 lbs. I hadnt even noticed, well maybe I have. I have all of the Leslie Sansones video. I absolutely love the program but have failed to stick with it on a consistent basis. I am currently a doctoral student who spends most of my time researching (on my butt in front of the computer). I recently purchased a fuel band which assists me with tracking my activities. It has worked I have been doing more activities more than ever. I am eager to meet new friends that are also getting in shape. I hope all is well and I look forward to speaking with everyone on the discussion board.

Hi Everyone,

Well I've been on this team for a while but never really got to introduce myself and say Hi. My name is Rosie and I've been doing the Walk At Home DVD's for about 2 years now. I had always quit for one reason or another but this time I'm sticking to it for good because I love to walk and the boost after every workout is awesome. I'm glad to be here and even more glad to be writing this lol. I completely lost my voice this week and it's been about 5 days now and I'm still waiting to be able to talk again. I was sent home from work yesterday and had a day off today so I really really need my voice by tomorrow. Well, I gotta get walking lol. I will be doing a 15 minute mile today, although I've stayed at the 2-3 miles per day I'm really taking it easy today. Oh and feel free to visit my SparkPage :)

Rosie

Hi. Just joined the team. I've been on and off Sparks for a couple of years, but getting serious now. I am 56, retired (and loving it), happily married. This Spring I peaked out at 247 lbs. This September I managed to lower that to 232 lbs. About the same time I applied for a local small town newspaper health challenge. There are 4 of us competing. Half way through now and I have dropped to 215 lbs. 4 weeks to go. I won't get to my goal in 4 weeks, but I expect to make a serious dent in the numbers (making sure of course that I am healthy in how I do it). I make walking my main exercise, walking about 7 - 10 km a day, making sure I include some serous hills into my route. So far it's working. See you around. emoticon

I'm 64 also and I think you're approaching the walking the correct way. I just want to be consistent. I'm carrying a lot of weight so right now, it is not the easiest thing to do.

Hi emoticon
I've been with Spark for about 3 months now and have lost 10 kilos, another 13 kilos to go! I am 64, love walking in the countryside in my part of the world, North Norfolk in the UK. I started walking only about 2 months ago, very slowly indeed due to general unfitness, but am now walking between 3 - 6 miles 3 times a week, at an average pace of 2.9 mph. Still quite slow, I know, but I'm getting there and enjoying every minute of it! Look forward to reading inspiring posts on this forum!

Hi, I'm Candy and a returning Sparker. I shut down my SP account about 6 months ago due to health issues but I'm back and wanting to lose this weight by walking which is one exercise that I really enjoy doing!

Hi everyone! Can't believe I missed introducing myself before this - oh well. Never too late. :-)

My name is Judy and I'm a wife and mother to a very active 5 year old DS. I work full time at a fairly new job I enjoy and am blessed to have been hired for.

I've been on Spark for a while and absolutely LOVE Leslie and her program! Looking forward to getting to know everyone as we walk, walk, walk our way into healthier lives!

Hi, I am doing Leslie's Walk Your Belly Flat and I really like it. I have done the one and two mile walks. I am ready to get another WATP video but not sure which one. I have lost about 20 lbs. and need to lose about 10 more. I have been a member of Sparkpeople for awhile but have'nt been taking advantage of all the wonderful tools that is offered and I know I need to do this. I just have'nt taken the time to learn how to use them.

Hello

My Name is Jana and the mother of two beautiful boys and wife to a fantastic man.
Over the past two years things have been very difficult fiancially and healthfully. first in oct 2009 I had my second child, and then about a year later my husband lost his job so i had to put in alot of hours at work to make ends meet.
I have always been somewhat heavy, but i've always considered myself healthy. NOT anymore. it's time for me to pull myself together and focus more on my health. and that is my goal.
i love Leslies walk at home DVD's mainly because I feel like I work harder at them at getting the moves correct which i think helps with a more efficiant Calorie burn.

It will be so nice to meet other like minded people who want to get healthy and be good examples to our kids! :]

Hi, I bought a set of Walk Away the Pounds at a yard sale this summer. I finally started the 5th of September. I am still on the 1 mile walk but for the first time I don't feel as if it will kill me. At this rate it will be 2020 before I get to the 4 mile walk. emoticon

Hello, I'm Kristi. I've been on Sparkpeople for several years, and just found this team today. I love the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs. They are great for our long, dark, cold Alaskan winters.

Many of you will realize that I am not new to Leslie's Walk At Home program, but have been MIA, so to speak, due to the stresses of my job and constant lawn mowing all summer. Now it is time for me to get back into the swing of things! I have lost a lot of weight in past years with the WAH DVDs and plan to do so again, this time for good!
