Hi, I'm here! I have lost, gained, lost, gained but this time I am losing and getting down to a healthy weight. I have joined SparkPeople a few times then let it go. This time I'm going to do it bc I am also a cancer survivor . . . 2 operations, chemo and radiation and don't want to go through that again. Plus, my daughter is getting married in 6 weeks so I'm going to do this for her, for future grandchildren (hopefully) and most of all, my health. So lets do this!!!

Let's seize the day by planning healthy then doing healthy . . . my Mantra for today by me, myself and I.

Hi Talamar. I'm so sorry you're stuck. You might try tracking your calories and nutrition for awhile. Everything you eat and drink gets written down - even the number of cups of water sipped through the day. I did this and it helped me break through a 3-year plateau. Yup...those plateaus can go on and on!

Hi everyone...my name is Rani and I'm new to the team but have been on SparkPeople since January of this year. I'm female, age 67 years young and started this journey last September at 255 pounds (5'7"). So, I've lost 40 pounds and only have 70 to go. For the last month my body has been taking a well earned respite and has decided to stop this weight loss thing for a bit. I'm OK with that. Though I've been very careful to get adequate nutrition - protein especially (about 100 grams daily), my hair is now falling out - just like it does when folks get weight loss surgery or go through chemo. Ah, well...Hubby and I have truly enjoyed my long hair (mid-back) while it lasted, but I'm running out of ideas for comb-overs and will likely need to go short for awhile. Might even need to get a wig. Gracious. Won't that really set the house on fire! That's OK, though, as the price of admission for much needed weight loss!

Anyway, I'm very pleased to make your acquaintance! Let's keep on Sparking!

All things are possible.

I plateaued after getting the flu. It damaged my heart so I had to cut back on exercise for awhile. Did physical therapy instead.

It's been 6 months now since I've resumed normal activity, but weight-loss is at a dead stop.

I am glad that I didn't gain any weight while I was recovering. I adjusted my diet to do that. But, I expected to resume my progress by now.

I'm looking for new ideas.

Hi my name is Sheila. I have been missing weight and then suddenly it stopped so I am hoping this is what I need.

I know I can do this, and I know we can all do this as long as we are willing to try.

Have lost, gained, lost, endlessly over the years. I've made so many good changes in the past two or three years but loss is slow. I weigh less than three years ago, but within that loss have been many gains and reloss of the same few pounds. I need to get past that. Hoping this will be a little boost to get moving again in the right direction. I want to get weight down for health and happiness.

Hello everyone!
I'm Jones and I am a 49 -year-old working mom and vegetarian. I have struggled with weight and some cholesterol issues my whole life. Several years ago, after having my second child, I had gotten up to almost 200 pounds - heavier than ever in my life. I made some small changes, like eating more vegetables and increasing my activity and lost 25 lbs. very quickly and easily. I had to work a lot harder to lose another 18 lbs., but I looked and felt great! I was back in school getting my bachelor's degree at the time.
After graduating, I gained about 8 lbs back and then it was a roller coaster ride for the last few years and I ended up gaining back as much as 20 lbs.! I have been trying so hard to lose weight, but it has taken me 3 years to lose only 6 pounds! And I need to lose 10 more to get back to where I was feeling super good. I would like to lose even another 10 pounds beyond that, but it is so hard to get past this darn plateau! And now I am peri-menopausal, which doesn't help!
I walk almost every day, and yoga about 3x a week, sometimes more. I have started doing some strength and cardio workouts and I feel stronger and healthier, but my weight and measurements have stayed the same for a couple of months. I am now pretty much vegan and have reduced a lot of fat by not cooking with oil. I eat healthy fats like avocado and nuts.
I am hoping this challenge will help me kick-start my weight loss.

Hi I'm Pree. 15 yrs ago I wt 142 got preg and now wt 200. I was sick for 6 yrs after I had my baby. Almost lost my ability to walk let alone exercise. A college friend recommended Sparks to help motivate me. I've been doing yoga since being sick. I had two surgeries since then and now the dr gave me the thumbs up to start more exercise. I'm able to keep my wt below 200. Now I'm ready for more wt loss. Im down to 193.

Hello all! I am here because on August 25, 2017 I made a commitment to loose weight and I have found myself falling down a bit. I started out at 220lbs, by working my butt off, I lost a total of 25-30lbs, but here I am back at 200lbs and I've been stuck here for quite some time now. The good thing is I'm not seeing the scale climb any more, but I am stuck! After falling off the wagon for a few weeks, I've recommitted myself to my journey and in turn have joined this challenge to bust my plateau and challenge my self a bit. I am a self motivated person and I do really well with beating through challenges and goals that I've set for myself so I'm here to do that again! I wish everyone a safe, successful, and healthy journey! God bless you all!

Hi! My name is Barbara and I live in Tennessee. I know weight loss seems to get harder as we get older, but it seems like one would be able to lose some. I am 72 and have hypothyroidism. I try to educate myself on foods that are good for and those not good for hypothyroidism to see if that will help. Some days I am able to exercise more than others. I am determined to break through and lose at least a few lbs. My main goal is to become healthier and have more stamina. emoticon

Hello all, my name is Sandy and I try to look at the positive... I've maintained a 50 pound weight loss for around 7 months. Not intentionally though. I'm ready to break through this and work on my next 50 pounds!

I am from Tallahassee FL, am 54 years old with grown kids and a wonderful boyfriend. I thoroughly enjoy biking, and for the last few months have added crossfit to my routine. It was actually in another effort to break through the plateau... it hasn't, however I have gotten stronger and have lost inches which is just as important!

Sandy

Hi, I am Bill Drew. I am a librarian managing a library at a USAF research lab. I have been overweight for close to 35 years. I weighed 110 when I graduated from high school in 1969. I now weigh in at around 211. I have been using SparkPeople this time since March 2017 when my wife and I went to a weight loss clinic. I have lost close to 50 pounds since then. The last 2 weeks my weight has been yo-yo-ing from 211 to 213 and back again. I know I am putting on muscle mass since I am still slimming down, going from 46-inch waist to 38. My goal is to get down to 199.99 pounds by New Years Day, 2018. I am here because I need new inspiration and a new challenge.

Hello! I'm Elle. I'm an academic which means that I have a relatively flexible work schedule and you would think I would have been able to stay active even during the busy academic year, but instead I gained about 5-10 pounds due to stress eating and inactivity. I've decided to get serious about busting this plateau in the summer months when I'm mostly working from home and near the gym. I've been going to cycling classes about 4-5 days a week and I recently figured out my calorie range was off by about 300 calories, which may explain the plateau even when I thought I was doing everything right. After adjusting my calories, cutting out wine and sugar completely, and upping my activity level, I'm finally seeing the scale and the measuring tape budge - a bit! trying not to get overly excited yet, though - i'm going to stick with the program for 2-3 months. I would like to lose 20 - 30 pounds to fit in my old clothes/sizes I've had to store away for years.

great to be part of this team! emoticon emoticon

Hi there. Hope this is a current team & somebody is around.

I'm "kind of" not in a "real" plateau - more like trying to "restart" & lose ANYthing. However I was doing really well in March with my eating and DID hit a plateau after only a couple of weeks! :( So this seemed like a good place to be to try and regain some focus, as I've recommitted due to an upcoming vacation in 6 weeks and have a great fear of doing everything right and losing nothing. Since I've gotten into my late 50's it has become even more difficult to lose weight seems like.

Hello Everyone!
I went off track with my journey. I was able to lose 15.7 lbs but have stalled since then. Trying to get back to it. Hoping for some encouragement and help. I always get so far and something happens and I start to go right back up. I don't want this to be like all the other times. Hoping to get back to moving forward.

Hello! Lapperoo Here,
I am apologizing here for what I'm about to post...

I'm getting nowhere for months!

Nov 1.9 lbs down; Dec .5 lbs down; Jan 0; Feb 0; Mar 1.7 lbs down; Apr 1 lb Up (out of country trip for 3 wks); and this month it's down 1 lb up 1.5, then down 1.5 back up 1. Just back and forth despite increased exercise (swimming 2 more days a week for an hour each day).

Calories are within prescribed range and I allow variance within my range. I am working with a physician but I'm really frustrated now. Inches aren't changing either.

I hope I can find some ways to break through this rut and get things moving downward again. The good news is that I'm feeling great and am healthier than ever so that's something positive from all this.

I was steadily losing, then my birthday and Easter (same day) came along. My son, who is the cook, is in love with butter and cream. One bad meal after over 50 days on target, and I'm up three pounds and not moving. Time to get serious about getting below 200 - my current mini goal.

Nevertheless, she persisted.

Hello everyone!
My weight loss has been stalled recently. I am determined to get it moving in the right direction. I am at a loss and need some extra motivation.
Some time ago I was a member of this team and by completion of the thirty days I was slowly beginning to lose those pesky pounds. I am looking forward to a new beginning.

Hi everyone, I'm not new to SP but new to this group and bring with me the frustration of not being able to lose the 12 lbs menopause so thoughtlessly stuck me with. The usual tricks for losing weight no longer work for me so I'm desperately seeking solutions.

Hi everyone! I've been on SP since 2009 but sometimes I haven't been very committed. I joined a 5% challenge over the summer and met some great SP friends and am now doing another 5% challenge. I've lost 15 lbs since May 1 but now seem to be stuck. Figured I needed another challenge to help me break through this plateau.

I track and exercise and wear a Fitbit. I seem to bob up and down in spite of what should be losses. I don't know if a month is long enough to consider a stall a plateau but it is frustrating. I am very close to my goal and would like to reach that plus a bit more.

Hello everyone! I have been with SP for a while and have lost weight before and have met some really great Spark Friends. During my time with Spark People I've been through 4 major surgeries. I do pretty good with exercise but when the surgeries happen I gain weight.

Last year I was at a conference and was in a picture with my peers and I looked like the heaviest person there. I vowed that by this year's conference (Oct.) I would not look like that. I wanted to get back to my "happier" weight and not be the largest person in the picture. I have lost 5 pounds that stay off since last August (2015). But, I've kept bouncing between the same 3 pounds now for a while. I have a goal and a date in mind now. Now I need to be much more consistent and I need to reach my goal. It is possible!

I look forward to the tips and reminders from this group during this 30 day challenge.

Hi everyone! I'm Diane and I joined SP in Jan. 2015; and I was able to lose 70 lbs, I still want to reduce and re-sculpt,but I seem to be stuck on a 3 pound yo-yo plateau. I got sick just after New Year's and it took me until February to want to get back on track. Regained about 5 pounds, and lost a couple....just a couple! I would love to lose another 70 pounds, but I've been overweight for so long I don't know what my "set point" weight is.

I decided to start more cardio and weight training and that must be working because people tell me I look like I'm losing weight. My problem now is determining how much of a calorie deficit I should carry. I've been getting a lot of exercise and burning a lot of calories. (I have a FitBit Charge HR, and that helps me track calorie burn based on my heart rate). Since everything in FitBit is synced to SparkPeople my calorie range changes with more activity. Some days the range ins 2500 or more calories! I don't feel as though I need that many calories so I don't eat more just because I can. I wonder if that's correct!

I have discovered Zumba and Drum Fit classes and for the first time ever exercise is FUN!! I'm actually in better shape now than I was 20 years ago, but there's room for improvement!!

Hi there,

My name is Ronnie and I am 44 years young
I have lost 65 pounds so far, and now that I am approaching Onederland, I don't know if the scale is just stuck, or my body is really trying to catch up. For the most part, I am eating well (and at least tracking my not-so-great choices), but my exercise has certainly increased tremendously (have been training to run my first 5K which is this Saturday). During Lent, I am eating pescetarian (and in the process have increased my carb intake); really trying to find a balance.

Also battling an overactive thyroid (taking natural supplements and hope that it does not have to be removed as one doctor recommended (that was before the weight loss though).

I've been trying both new foods and new exercises, and even switching the times of day that I eat certain meals (breakfast for dinner, lunch @ breakfast time, etc.).

Can't seem to break through the 199/200 mark. My goal is to get down to at least 150, so I feel like I'm only a little more than halfway there. Looking for any suggestions (though I understand that there are a lot of variables in my situation).

Ronnie, Ohio

Hi,my name is Cindy and I have posted on the team board before but I think I skipped the introduction thread!! I have been a Spark member for many years. I am almost 61. I reached my goal a few years ago but then got lazy and took things for granted ! Not a wise move ! I gained back most of what I lost, last year I tried hard but could not get the scale to budge,I gave up, then ,after Christmas this year I made up my mind that I was getting serious about losing,no excuses. Then I worked out, logged nutrition and fitness and was do disappointed to see that I was not losing!! I had to make some changes. I upped my fruit and veggie intake and cut back on carbs..not entirely but almost, drank water instead of tracking. Started the Plateau buster challenge and now I am1 pound away from my goal ! I always get stuck here...is it a mind game? I have been stuck here several times and never make it to goal...frustrating!
I have found myself snacking more often lately, and I am not hungry!

You only get one body..take care of it!..
Cindy.

Hi everyone,

My name is Shannon
I will be 48 in May
I have lost 50 pounds, it was 55 but I gained a little back.
My ultimate personal goal is 135 lbs, but my doctor says between 145-150. I am going to listen to my body and let it determine what I should be.
Happily married to a wonderful man (most of the time), he takes real good care of me.

I am currently at 151 so I would like to lose a minimum of 6 lbs and have been stuck. I know I can get there because I was there before. I am having a bit of a problem getting back on track.

Hi my name is Shannon and I have a obsession with food

After 11 years, I recently figured out what was causing my lethargy and GI issues - hooray science! After almost 2 months of diet modification and Vitamin D taking, I feel the best I have in a really long time.

With that being said, I finally have the energy and feel well enough to bust through this plateau I've been stuck at since before my son was born. I'm back at the weight I was at when I got pregnant in 2013, but I'm feeling great and want to feel as comfortable in my skin as I finally feel on the inside.

So....hello!

And my bad, totally posted this in the wrong spot. I'll try again on the right thread.

I've been on Spark for a while now...and have benefited in ways (beyond the scale) which make my Life healthier...! My scale has dropped some over the course of time...and fluctuated because of other health/fitness issues. I've spent this winter hanging around the same weight though--even though most of those issues are resolved. Time To Get A Move On...what with Spring arriving...and goals for summer which would be easier without this 5% of weight which is being "really" stubborn!! So thought I'd check out this Challenge.....

Hi I'm Nan. I pledged to lose a stone between 1/1/16 and 30/4/16 cos I need to and asked folk to sponsor me for church funds. There is already £150 riding my loss and while I hit the bottom of my calorie range and exercise its just not happening. 4 lbs i7 weeks is a bit low with only 10 weeks left to shed the rest. I need help and advice.

I've recently returned to SP after a long period of very difficult challenges in my family. Since 1/21 I've averaged more than 13,000 steps per day according to my tracker. These are mostly walking, but some are jogging, too. I've never been able to get more than 10K more than two days in a row before. MS has kept things difficult. For whatever reason, I now find I can get my steps almost every day. Am hoping I will continue to be able to do so. After nine years of being unable to walk more than about a half block without a cane, sometimes a wheel chair, I suddenly could walk again in 2004. Now, I've had another improvement with this daily distance walking ability. MS in unpredictable, but for now I am most thankful and so enjoying this continuing ability. Still can't do strenuous exercise, but perhaps that will come as well. Hooray!

Becoming the healthiest me that I can be.

After four kids, I have this annoying 7 or so pounds to lose. Family life has made it difficult to be consistent with either a diet or exercise. I'm on my second week or exercising at least 30 minutes a day, and I think I'm ready to start tackling my seemingly constant snacking. My goal is to lost these last few pounds before my 20th reunion this summer. (I love a deadline).

Hi, I'm Janet and I need to loose 40 pounds. I want to say I have been on a plateau for a few years but to be honest even though I feel I walk and exercise a lot it is my love of sweets that keep me from losing weight. This is my year to get rid of my extra weight. So I am also stopping eating so many sweets.

Some day I am going to be thin enough to feel comfortable tucking in my shirt and wearing a belt.

Hi I am Cher,

I am fighting to get my weight down 17 more pounds. I have been a diet and exercise controlled Diabetic for 45 years. Now, I am overweight and sedentary so I need to do this to stay off diabetic meds. In the past Doctors wanted to put me on Insulin, so over a span of 2 years, I took of 78 pounds and kept it off 12 years. After being ill for a few years, my weight creeped up to 184 so now I am down to 166.4 and need to reach my goal of 150 again. emoticon

Hi! I'm Laurie, i'm 46 years old and i teach Kindergarten. I've lost about 70 pounds but have been stuck there for about 2 years. Just recently (this weekend actually) the scale began to move downward again but I'm afraid to get my hopes up. emoticon I'm excited to be joining you all in this challenge and look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi,

My name is Vicki. I am a 62 year old mostly retired and have successfully maintained a 23 pound loss. I am very close to goal and I keep gaining and losing the same two pounds. This has been going on for the last 5 years and I am sick and tired of it. I decided join this challenge and see if it would help me finally reach goal.

Hi,

I'm Colleen, I'm 28. I was obese for at least 10 yrs and then 2 years ago I got ulcers and could barely eat a thing and in a year dropped 50lbs I still am categorized as "overweight" and having a high body fat % and BMI, I know not a healthy way to lose weight. However, those are now being treated and I realized I liked my body a lot more when I wasn't in plus size everything, and hey I had more money!!
So now I'm stuck bouncing between the same 176-172 lbs week to week. I know I will never have a model figure. I'm more 50s model shape, I have good Polish birthing hips, etc. So I put my goal weight at 165. Which is the lowest I've weighed since before high school, and honestly I liked how clothes looked on my at that weight, minus a bit of a tummy, but that is the last thing to tackle.

Thank You for listening to me blather on,

Colleen B.

It's great to read everyone's stories!

I am down to the wire - very close to goal weight - and it feels like I'm just crawling toward the finish. That last time I reached this weight, I kind of said to myself "Close enough!" and quit tracking. So of course I gained most of it back. This time I want to be in that 5-10% of people who attain their goal weight and successfully maintain their weight loss.

I joined this challenge a couple of weeks ago to help keep myself on track. I've enjoyed it so far - it helps to know that there are a few more things that I can tweak.

All the best to all fellow Plateau Busters!

emoticon My name is Lisa or Lee. I've been sparking for a while. I went to a hypnotist in January and dropped from a size 24/26/28 to 12/14.
I seem to be at a standstill after the 75 pounds and really really want to keep things in check.
So here I am making sure I stay in the right direction and not let any pounds creep back on.
I walk 5.5 miles anywhere from twice to six times a week. I joined an outrigger canoe club (6 Man boat) that is very challenging. I hope to motivate myself to start weight training.

for the past two years I have slowly but surely lost 60 pounds, mostly because I have tracked my food and exercised. However, I have had problems because I've had five major surgeries that has caused me some real mobility problems. Becaise I have been housebound, I've had to have others buy my food and pretty much relied on good TV dinners (I live alone).

I am in a rut, that I can get out of and be stronger, or become satisfied with a very limited lifestyle. Because of my surgical wounds, I have been unable to use water aerobics, but I will soon be able to go back. I do look forward to that, because my exercise if quite limited.

I am so much happier with the 60-pound weight loss. It's nice to fit in chairs and put on sseat belts without having to have extenders.

But there are many more things I I look forward to. I still have a lot more pounds to lose. I cannot remember the joys of being smaller than the 3x (I have been as high as the 5x clothes), but I look forward to discovering those joys again.

Still, I am having trouble staying with the active lifestyle, and I'm getting awfully tired of the vegetables and fruits that I once loved and now find just how-hum.

I'm watching too much TV and working on the computer way too long every day.

Today, Day 2, I managed to not watch TV until dinnertime. It felt really good, and I did get a lot more done. It was a good step.

I haven't been able to measure, yet, because I don't have the tape measure, but I will do that tomorrow. I don't think there will be that much change, though, from when I measured last year. I will continue on, anyway, knowing that measurements are also not the only sign of getting better. there are many signs, such as fitting into chairs and seat belts, buying smaller sized clothes (the 3x is even getting big for me), and looking better in the mirror.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the challenge. The biggest problem I face is momentum. I need to continue on until I really am in a better spot. What doe they say? "Fake it 'till you make it?"

Hi

I have lost and gained weight a few times. My weight is creeping up again and I'm lacking motivation. I give 110% at work, yet why don't I do that for myself?

I have written about doing a 30 challenge back in June! Today I have taken the plunge and roped my partner to do the same.

I'm chasing my tail here as I cannot find the challenge for today? Can someone point me in the right direction please.

I'm Cat - 49 years old. Started in Feb. 2015 with a goal of 80 pounds by Feb. 2016. Was doing great, but the last few weeks have slowed to a crawl. Not sure what it is - I've not been doing anything different. Still maintaining healthy eating and exercising daily (wear a FitBit and am religious about 10,000 steps, 10 floors and 30 active minutes/day). Doc did tell me that at my age the last bit would be very hard to lose. Any others finding the same thing? Any tips...please?!

Hi, I'm Noreen in Phoenix. I have been stuck going back and forth over the same 2-3 pounds for months, and the scale seems like it is slowly going up. Hoping this challenge will help me get back on track.

Hello!
When I saw this team here I thought maybe I can break this cycle of continually losing and gaining the same 5 pounds and feeling like I'm getting nowhere. I have had many challenges and changes to my time lately so have been working hard to fit these into a workable routine, because I thrive on routine. I have arthritis and Fybromyalgia which have side tracked me on my fitness goals because of unexpected flairs and pain. But, I press on.
I am looking forward to breaking this Plateau.
Hope

slow and steady wins the race... I think I can , I think I can, I think I can...Just one step at a time, I can do this!

My name is Kristen. I started using SP on May 11, 2015 @ 185.8 lbs. Since then I have tracked my nutrition and fitness every day. So far I have lost 20 lbs. For the past few weeks I have been stuck on a plateau. My weight has varied from 164.8 lbs to 166.6 lbs in that time period. I stumbled upon this challenge through a friend's page and thought I would give it a try!

Hello everyone! My name is Sharon. I decided to join this team in order to get myself back on track to take off some more of my weight. I have been on Spark People for several years, but I keep getting discouraged because my metabolism has slowed to a near stop due to previous quick weight loss programs I was on. But I am not giving up and intend to climb that mountain if it's the last thing I do.

Hi all. I'm Cathy from ILL, just west of Chicago. I've been on SP since early 2012. I've reached the age where my metabolism seems to have slowed down to a crawl. Unless I'm exercising an hour a day, sometimes weeks will go by where I'm not losing at all. I'm willing to try anything to get the scale moving back down again.

Hi Noreen!. I sure can relate to getting more creative to break the plateau stage. I need to get more creative when food buying on a budget. I'm going to the gym 4-7 days per week; but something is off kilter and it could be the carbs from sweet potatoes and brown sugar. Also found out that drinking decaf coffee is better when losing weight.

Encouraging each other will help each of us reach our goals faster!

Hello Everyone,

I've been a Spark People member off and on for several years. I work from home and have zero motivation so I hope this challenge will help me 'get back at it' with taking better care of my body both with eating and exercise. It's very easy for me to leave my home office and do nothing, when I should be lacing up the shoes and heading out for a walk or run.

Eliminate excuses and avoid procrastination! Just Do It!

Blessings to you all,
Kim

Hello Everyone. I have been with SparkPeople for a number of years now. I lost up to 50 pounds, but gained 12 back and would like to lose and keep them off from now on. This challenge is right on time, especially since I'm training for my first Full Marathon.

Hi everyone. I signed up for SparkPeople just over 3 years ago. I lapsed for a while but I'm back at it. On January 1st, I finally had my eyes opened when I stepped on the scale and was at 199 lbs. My feet hurt, my legs ached, and I couldn't do the things I wanted to do. I re-committed myself to losing weight. So far, I've worked off 19 lbs. I've been losing and gaining the same 2-3 lbs. for the past few months. Hopefully, this challenge will help me get back on track. Our son is getting married in October, 2016, and I want to make him proud!

I'm Randy in Charleston WV

I've been on Sparkpeople since 2007. Was losing right along and in 2009 had some heart failure issues.

Diet was very strict --- but made some inappropriate substitutions --- eating more sugary stuff and fatty to eliminate the sodium. Very low activity level and fluid restrictions -- I gained part of the 75 pounds I'd lost.

Since then I have continually lost and gained the same 20-25 pounds --- I'm not at about the 60 pound lost area --- feeling my spark everyday and feeling the clothing bet baggier.

I don't know why the plateau --- food not where it should be ---- emotionally not where I needed to be -- but thought this team could help me during the next 30 days.
