Hi my name is Kathryn I sm 62 and live in Sacramento California. I have many days I don't eat sweets and than days like yesterday when I binged on candy. I am out of control and hope the challenge can curb my sweet tooth. Starting off today getting off artificial sweeteners. I will pass on diet coke and drink regular soda when out. Maybe drink sweetened tea or lemonade. I have heard that lemonade and unsweetened tea is good may try that.

Hi, just took the new member challenge. I am a situational struggler with sugar. I went to a dietician for the first time last week and learned to add fruit to every meal or snack, to satisfy or prevent sugar cravings, and so far it's working! Also she said I needed to start counting carbs, and to count sugar as carbs, aside from that my diet looked great to her; however, my downfall is if a family member puts something like a cookie or caramel santa in front of me, I eat it, resisting pressure like that is a major challenge. Walking everyday also seems to help a little with anxiety and I don't think about junk food as much.

Back again. Just punted WW. Too expensive for how slow I am or am not losing weight. Back for the 5th or so time to Sparkpeople. I could look at my users names and tell you exactly. I see people losing on WW and also on Sparkpeople. I can get 8 pounds off and boom nothing and then I will gain couple of pounds for seemingly no reason. Very frustrating and discouraging . So instead of picking at the brownies I baked for my husband who doesn't need them either I will try the no sugar 21 day challenge. Will see what that does. Will at least be healthier right even if not slimmer.

So off to walk. Maybe I can walk the fat off. emoticon

Hi, I'm Rebecca. I have urges for sugar and carbs but I try to maintain a good balance as best as I can, which is why I thought this site might give the edge I am looking for to getting the support I need. All my life, I have been able to keep on the weight of 6 stone 6 to 7 stone 5. Before March 2010 I had been 9 stone and literally lacking in energy but since moved from my parents flat, I have been a lot better.

I live in Bedfordshire, UK area and like my walks, I am a support worker by job, I enjoy doing my own workouts at home but I merely go for a run due to being so self conscious... I prefer to mainly go for a run down a country field paths, not near the roads where workmen could gawk at me... I hate that. I'm autistic with anxiety disorder which was diagnosed late only six years back.

Gardening, reading, walks and hiking are my fave things to do mostly, that and cleaning the house... my balance is lacking on the left side of me but am planning to learn how to ride a bike.

All I am wanting is to keep my weight and appearance the way it always has been, and that is partly why this site interested me when I stumbled across it.

Hello, I am struggling with sugar and carb cravings again. Doctor had me do a elimination diet month of January, I did fine that month except first few days were hard. Lost weight and felt good but when month was done I slowly went back to eating wrong and now lately its been really bad especially with emotional eating.

My daughters in 30's did a sugar pact with me last month and they both are doing great and losing weight and I keep eating sugar so here I am for extra help!

I live in Oregon and do NIA dance, hike, walk dog and swim for exercise. Taking a few days off because I tripped hiking last week on a rock while looking at a butterfly lol...got bruised up a bit.

I'm Maria and I took thesaurus too ----- arrgh ---- the quiz.

I did a sugar cold turkey a few months ago and it was hellish. I've noticed on a couple of occasions when I've had cake (one a birthday and one - well you know) that sugar was creeping back in and I was thinking 'ooh I'll have a bit of that'. That's not how I want to live.

I know with sugar there is an impact on my mood if I have it (or don't have it for a few days) and I want to be off the treadmill.

I'm on Day 2 so I will be noting my cravings for sugar.

Hello. I took the quiz which told me what I already knew, that I am a sugar-holic. It takes a lot of energy to successfully make changes. I struggle with sleep issues and daily fatigue. So I'm here to work on my sugar addition to see if I can improve my energy level as well as loose weight. I need to change my thinking from "I don't think I have the ability to change" to " I can make this change one day at a time." I'm 59 years old and I'm glad to see that some of you involved in this challenge are older, too.

HI! Challenge Accepted! I just took the quiz... I am OUT OF CONTROL ADDICTED! Yep- I am. I have an addictive personality- and this I guess is the addiction of preferred choice! I would rather have it this then street drugs, cigarettes, booze etc... It's too bad I am not "addicted" to exercise and healthy foods! Right?

I just started the challenge, today. I am hoping to be free of this and have more self control.
I have a jar of glass stones (I bought at Walmart for 97 cents), when I don't buy something at the store or do a workout when I don't feel like it, I move it to another jar. If I slip I take one out and put it into the original jar. I will probably buy myself something when I fill the jar.

Hi, I'm DAR. I just joined this challenge yesterday. I love chocolate and baked goods, but over the last couple of months I have been able eat chocolate in moderation. Most of the time I can stay away from baked goods, though occasionally I will have a cookie or two. Very rarely do I buy any of this stuff for me, but my 88 year old mother, who has dementia and has pretty much quit eating food, lives with me. I buy some of this stuff for her, just hoping she will eat something. So it is in the house.

Hoping to limit the hidden sugars in the food I eat. I do not buy many processed foods, but breads, cereals, etc. can have hidden sugars and I need to be more conscience of that.

i am a mindless eater who enjoys eating sweets. the hilidays are hard on my. ive been struggling with keeping off the weight i loss. i go down about 5 lbs then it comes back on. i keep thinking about what is thee "silver bullet" . the hard part is i know it is a lifestyle change i need to make in order to have success. not 1 thing but a lot of changes that i have to be consistant and commited to. i have notices that more protein and less sugar makes me fell more emergetic and less hungry.

Hello, I just joined this challenge and it is going to be a challenge for me. I work at a discount store and since it is the holidays, we just got in our 1st truck with 154 boxes of chocolate/cookies. I am a sugar addic (just took the quiz).
My goal is to cut down on all the sugar and sweets. Eat more fruit for the sweetness. Just ate a clemitine over cookies. I need encouragement. I've tried to stop so many times before. I live at home where there are sweets. I want to do baking during the holidays, but I need will power to watch how much I eat. I want to be in control my sugar intake and not have sugar running my life.
I believe if I can make it through this challenge, I'll be able to handle sweets.

I have just started this challenge. I live in rural NY and have an hour's drive to work each day. I pass 7 soft serve ice cream stands on my way home and it is my weakness. I teach so normally I am home in the summer. With two children in college, I worked last summer and am not happy with the pounds stopping at the soft serve 1-2 times a week has brought. I'd like to lose 5 pounds a season...Lost 3 since school started and Fall began....Want to lose 5 before Fall is finished...

I know I need to tame my sweet tooth for that to happen. I started this challenge by eating all the sugary things in the house. Last night was chocolate cheesecake. So I am hoping I can keep it out of my house and kick this bad habit once and for all.

This week I introduced a goal of 24 oz of water before lunch and an apple before I leave work..instead of the candy bar from the vending machine...Looking forward to ideas from all of you!

I am losing weight 10% at a time. I can do this!
Goal: 5 pounds a season.

Hi emoticon I am Alicia and I have been on Spark a long time, even have taken this challenge before but now my sugar binge really got out of control and I have to put a stop to it. I kept telling myself that since I make all my treats and don't buy ready made cookies or cakes or any other candy or treat but bake them I don't have a problem as mine are better than factory made. I can limit them to portion sized too but yesterday I went out and bought a bunch of junk and got out of control. I have to stop that as my stomach just cannot take that any more.

Hi! I think this team and challenge is exactly what I need. I have always had a major sweet tooth and need to get some control over it as I am getting older and it's affecting my health. I rebelled the first day of the challenge and went out and bought Oreos and totally pigged out. I felt really GUILTY. Now I am back on track and intend to stay this way. The GUILT is a real mental drainer and that can't be good for my health either!

I am new to this challenge team. I started about 5 days ago. I am married to a very supportive husband. Enjoy the simple things in life. I love sweets but am trying very hard to replace it with low calorie snacks or eating fruit anything, but in all that sugar I was eating never realizing how many calories that are in cookies, donuts, ice cream etc. I think this challenge is going to help me a lot. I am 51 years young. I'm a mother to 3 wonderful kids (32, 22 and 10). Grammie to 3 amazing grandkids (5, 2 and 1). I am just recovering from a partial nephrectomy in October. I've had a rough time recovering, because my stomach muscles didn't reattach correctly. I am on a very strict no lifting anything over 15lbs. and no exercise that involves the stomach muscles. My stomach looks like I'm 9 months pregnant. I'm not feeling very good with myself. I want to lose weight but finding it very hard with all the restrictions. I also have tons of stress right now, as I have full care of my father, my Mom, who has dementia and my youngest son, who is Autistic. I find it hard to find me time. I would love to find some exercise that works for me and be able to give up sugar.

The quiz said I'm a "Situational Struggler", but I think it's worse than that. I've tried quitting sugar a few times in the past (without getting too hung up on sugar in normal foods). Each time I turn into a grump (dare I say b*tch?) for a few days. After a week or two I start to really miss the desserts and other treats so I think I can just have one a month / week / day ... but it starts all over again. No different that what I've seen my SO go through with his nicotine addition. This time I'm determined to beat this addiction!

New to Spark and new to this challenge. Sugar is a HUGE problem for me! I've been an addict for at least 45 years and the effects are catching up with me. My worst part of the day is mid afternoon until after dinner. Especially when I get home from work all I want to do is binge sugary sweets!!! My family is growing and I have four grandchildren now, and another on the way. I want to be healthy for them and be able to see them grow. And I want to be a good example for them!!

I got "Situational Struggler" although to be completly fair, i do buy plenty of sweets and drink a lt of soda. at home i tend to plan a portion (sometimes a large one) i dont like colas but mountain dew and dr pepper are ones i drink every day. at least i did. i am diving them up for lent so for the next 46 days (sundays are not going to be my allow day) i wont be touching them. diet pops tend to give me stomache aches so they are not a possible subsitution, with me giving up pop, i figure this would be a good time to lower out my other sugar consumption. this time of year, i love easter candy but am lookign for assistance in not wanting it.

Hi I'm Leslie, I'm also a "Situational Struggler" according to the quiz.
The main reason I want to cut my sugar addiction down is to reduce the inflammation in my body. I was recently diagnosed with arthritis in my neck (genetic condition) and I just want to make the arthritis as manageable as possible for the rest of my life. I don't want to be reactionary to whatever pains pop up from time to time. I want to put it under control now.

Losing weight will definitely help my condition and hopefully be an end resolute from cutting out or down my sugar intake. :)

Hi I'm Pippa and I am, (according to the quiz) a situational struggler when it comes to sugar. I'm really hoping to give sugar the heave ho for good, and be able to control myself better. I chose this challenge because I love sweets and need to seriously get sugar treats under control. Most all of these treats are loaded with fat also. I can usually stay under on calories but the fat percentage is up . I think getting the treats under control will be the best way to help that situation.

Going to hit this hard...have tried to slow down my sugar and it keeps creeping in - I am gluten free for celiac and feel like I should be able to have some sugar to compensate...NOPE!!! No more - no rationalizing what is hurting my body. Have heart issues too with two stents so really NEED to control the sugar and thereby get my cholesterols and WEIGHT DOWN!! Looking forward to encouragement and learning and success!!!

Hi, I'm Nancy. The quiz result says I have a big problem with sugar--but I knew that. When I give in and eat sweets I have trouble getting back on track for 2 or 3 days. And it's hard for me to eat just one serving. I have high hopes to learn from this challenge as my doctor says I'm pre-diabetic.

Hello, I am Paula a 50 year old married mother of two. Jake 21 and Sarah 20.

Currently weight in at 58.9.0 kilo's I aim to maintain at 52 kilo's.

I just joined the challenge as part of a challenge from Spark Coach, to help keep me on track and motivated even more to stick to my goals and get down to 52 kilo's and maintain at that. I also joined to help cut down my sugar intake.

I started it mainly for myself to have an extra area where I have to check in and track as well as using the spark trackers. Mainly to keep me motivated and visualizing my way to reaching my goals. I am quite happy to be the only member of my team if I don't get anyone join that's fine. It is doing lots in the short time I started it to keep me on track with reaching my goals. I did not start it expecting or meaning to get any members it is mainly to keep myself on track with my goals.

I know I am not obese by any means but still for me I have too much weight on for my hips to carry around.

I have slight hip osteoarthritis in both hips. Doctors and specialists told me a few years ago I would need to have 2 hip replacements which I refused to have, or at least put off as long as possible. I am doing things naturally, fixing my diet, weight loss and the like.

I also have Scoliosis in my back have had it since I was a teenager. I wore a back brace then for 2 years which prevented it getting any worse.

My issues make exercising very difficult. So am unable to do much of that other than normal stuff like housework, gardening when I am able.

I try to eat healthy and organically where possible and avoid all preservatives and additives and processed food where and when I can. Plus I am wheat free not Gluten free & trust me when I tell you there is a difference between the two because there is.

I Drink reverse osmosis water from my water filter. Use Australian made and owned cleaning products that are non toxic and without any harsh chemicals.

I have interests in candles, reading, feng shui, computers, positive thinking, spirituality, new age thinking, Leptin Diet, Eat right for your type diet, soccer and gardening & beginning Sewing / quilting to name a few.

I believe it not a diet but a healthy lifestyle for the long haul.

I was on SparkPeople a while ago under another username and closed that account fully so I could start completely fresh. Not worried about losing those spark friends or spark points. The friends I had I really wanted to keep are my friends on Facebook now. It is no offence to those people who were my friends on here they are awesome people they really are. But I decided I had to make a stand and this time really do something about getting my weight loss and healthy lifestyle under control once and for all.

I have always had a vision board for many years now here is a picture of my current one:



Sorry this picture came out wrong. It was the right way when I added it no need to rotate it. But once added it is wrong and I don't know how to rotate it. but it should still give you some idea of what my vision board looks like.
