MORNING,
Exercising has always been a problem for me...I like to walk, ride bike and swim, but make excuses not to do them and believe me I am the queen of excuses. lol As a community health educator I know how important it is to be healthy, but I don't walk the walk or talk the talk so to speak... emoticon

Hi,
I'm Susan and I'm going to lose about 70 more pounds. I cannot believe I let myself get in this shape. I was almost bedridden by depression, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain and Fatigue. I've been homebound for almost 20 years! emoticon But thankfully I finally had the "aha" moment. I feel more alive than I have in years! Thank you to each of you and especially SparkPeople!

Roberta here. 90-year old recovering from bad side effects of the Whooping Cough vaccine (aluminum & formaldehyde). It turned me from a healthy active volunteer at a hospital into a cripple in 24 hours. (Mayo diagnosis: chronic fatigue & insomnia) Recovery is slow, but noticeable with good nutrition and exercise.

Hi, my name is Jan and I live in Tennessee. I am starting this challenge to motivate myself to exercise more. I have rheumatoid arthritis and a very bad knee, which can keep me kind of sidelined at times. but I also have diabetes which needs the movement. I also need to find some "zen" in exercise to make it enjoyable.

TerrificTonya you motivate me! With all you have going on, and you still commit to your health.

I'm stepping up my walking game by joining #Zenfitness30 today! Daily exercise is important to me as I move toward my goal of excellent physical fitness. I am focused on being an excellent example of having multiple medical diagnoses and maintaining physical fitness. I have a journey ahead of me and am confident with my friend here, I will get to where I am going.

I live in TN (USA) where the weather begs to keep me under motivated. I do not let this become and excuse. I dare to move in nature as often as possible even if this means to get moving at 3 AM!

I live with multiple unpredictable and medically uncontrolled medical diagnoses: seizures, brain tumors, fibromyalgia, Meniere's Disease, Fatty Liver Disease, and others. It seems that every body process or part has some sort of defect in my body. I allow my body to go through ebb and flow, listen to when my body needs rest, and otherwise forego the pleadings of EGO wanting to lead me to a premature death. I AM STRONG, I AM POWERFUL, I AM TERRIFIC!

Hi, I joined this Challenge in order to keep myself motivated to become more active. Been slacking lately because it is very hot right now where I am which makes it hard to stay motivated to move.

Hi, all!

I'm Janece! I started SparkPeople 2 weeks ago after finishing 18 months of treatment for breast cancer. I am feeling very well but I do need to lose the weight I put on while undergoing these treatments....17 lbs. total to start. I have lost 3 so far. I'm 59, and so I know that it take a bit longer and a lot more work to get the weight off at this age but I know I - WE - can do it! My "Goal" is to be healthy, strong, lean and the optimal weight for my greatest well being. That includes watching what I eat (I am particularly cautious of sugar), and getting lots of exercise - both cardio and strength building...

Best to everyone!

Hey howdy, I'm Tal and roughly a month ago I got a bit of a scare by my doc: "borderline diabetes". I've stumbled a bit and haven't been consistent (been interviewing for jobs and training and such), but now those life changes are evening out and i've made a new schedule for myself to stick to and made a notebook with lists of good food options and my food/exercise diary.

I'm determined, I just needed a good starting point without 15,000 things in the way. now I'm eager to work hard and just happened to find this challenge in an old points e-mail i missed (and i want those shoes--at the end of the challenge, if i've done well with myself, i'm gonna get me a pair). Til then, I'll have to work and save paychecks and use my other good walking shoes.

I'm mechel :) Mum to six, foster career, student, wife. I love glam planning, fitness, heath, nutrition, being a mum and Australia (which is where i live)! I currently live in Brisbane, Australia with my Partner(who i refer to as hubby but we aren't married yet,) our six kids, two cats, two dogs! I recently lost 20kg, but its slowly creeping back because i have had a rough last six months. I suffer from anxiety and panic disorder.

I am here to get support with eating mostly. I seem to always fall back into bad habits! I know how/what to do with exercise, and now have the added bonus of hubby being a Personal trainer now. He himself lost 50kg last year. I need quick healthy family friendly meals. I also need to better plan our meals. Sometimes it five oclock and i havent got anything to feed the herd so we grab pizza.

My biggest fear is my children being overweight and having the struggle i have had to lose it. I know i can changed that now! so that my plan :) Nice to meet you all :)

emoticon Everyone! I hope everyone is doing well! It's after 11:00 P.M., I think I'll go
to bed after this share! This is my first day on this challenge. I can do most of the exercises,
but the ones on your knees, I can't do those because I've had knee replacements, and I'm
not suppose to put pressure on my knees ever! I'll walk or do another exercise in place of
those exercises. Have a Magnificent & Blessed Monday! LYL! emoticon

Hello, Everyone in Zen Land. I'm Patti and I live in Lacey, Washington. I'm a Craft Teacher and crafts and making friends (and keeping them) are my life. I have 5 children and just reached 70 years old. In November-December 2013 I had both hips replaced and got serious about Spark when the doctor allowed me to start exercising again. So, now I've been on Maintenance for 18 months, and I do like the 30 day challenges to learn more and keep me motivated.

I hope to learn more about you in my time on this team.

Morning everyone, I joined the zen challenge this morning (3/7/2016). My name is Christina. I've been on spark a long time, but still have not reached my end goal. It's my fault though, mixed with PCOS and some lack of motivation. But I'm trying harder right now so that is a good thing. I'm 35 (soon to be 36) and I live in Irving, TX. I'm down 26 pounds from my heaviest weight, I'm working on losing another 70 though. I love to walk, and I'm trying to get my steps higher each day.

Want to help me walk 60 miles in November in honor of my mum?

Hi Team, I am a mother of five children and really happy to be here. I did join this site last year and worked really hard to lose weight and was able to hit my goal. However, things happen and I quickly gained all the weight back in a few short months. During the winter, I lost motivation to exercise and piled on the pounds, but back in the swing of things and going to start off with this challenge to help me on a healthy path to keep the weight off for good. The first start is changing my lifestyle and making better health choices. I look forward to meeting more people to help keep the motivation going. emoticon emoticon

Hi, I'm Toby. I have been a Spark-er for years, but after losing 70 lbs and keeping it off for 5 years (with OA and Sparkpeople) I gained back 50 of it and am working to get that off. Tried the 21 day sugar challenge recently and although I wasn't perfect (progress, not perfection) I did reduce my sugar intake a lot. So the challenges definitely help.

I am pretty much sedentary (busy, but mostly sitting on sofa on laptop working at home - self employed, and dealing with my special needs kid). So I thought I would try this and see if I could also improve the amount of activity/movement/cardio in my life. So far I chose taking train (which adds 15 minutes walking each way to/from train) instead of driving on my very first day. So it's definitely working!

HI guys, I am not new to the Sparks scene. A few years back I went from 210lbs to 145 lbs in 6 months thanks to logging in exercise and food on here and doing 21 Day Fix and Shakeology. Well.... time, life, kids (a million other reasons), I am back up to 199lbs. I am 38 and needing to rid this 60lbs for GOOD! I had a hysterectomy 3 months ago and the weight is piling on. I have been back active on this site each day as well as I am a Beach Body Coach....already in 2 weeks doing 21 Day Fix & beast body and drinking Shakeology once a day, I am down 8lbs and 1/5 inch off my things.......would love to start a challenge group to keep me and others motivated!

Keep moving!

Hello, everyone!

I have been on Sparkpeople a long time but I am not very consistent with it. I hope to get better at it and quit yo-yoing with my weight (and my health). I hope this will help me get back on track to moving more throughout the day.

Best of luck to all the participants! May the Spark be with you... emoticon

Hi everyone,
I'm Gail, age 72, sparking 5 years. I slipped up last year and regained most of the 30 lbs. I'd lost. But I'm still here. SP is a great program. I just need to work more consistently at staying within my calorie range and exercising at least 5 days/week.

Hi all, Altria here. I just wanted something to help keep me on track and to distract me while I continue to try to lower my sugar intake.

Feel free to add. We can always use more friends in life!

Hi, I'm Eileen. Most people call me Irish or Ei (I) and I live in OH.
I am thinking this team may be a great idea for me since we now have 25 days until Christmas and then----- New year, then about 5 parties I will be going too. LOL......BIG challenge to face----
I have been doing well since July and lost weight, but want to continue and keep losing until I get to goal and then maintain for life. Thanks for sharing your tips with me. So glad I noticed this group this morning......(-:
Good luck to all of us.
hugs, Irish Ei emoticon

Hi team, I'm Carol mother, grandmother and friend. I'm 48 y/o and after falling flat on my face today I feel like my body just isn't ready for all I'm trying to do. Scrubbing floors on my hands and knees, training to walk a 5K in 45 minutes, lifting weights, etc.

Hi everyone! I am Jenna. I am a 43-year old mother of two boys (9 and 11 yo) that works full time outside the home. In September I had surgery and in January I start up my graduate seminary classes again. emoticon I'm Alley, I have been a sp member for a few years and this summer was the first time in awhile that I didn't log in daily or log my workouts. We lost a family member and it took over my life. I am taking my life back because I don't want to live in the past. I will certainly always grieve for my son but I also will carry him in my heart. Now I am one week into logging again and can already see a difference in how I feel and look. I am so thankful for this site and everyone here. Check out my page to see my before pics.

Hey all, my name is Leslie I'm 44 married with three children. I have been so stuck for so long. I was over 200 lbs after quitting smoking 5 years ago and managed to lose about 30 lbs. I told myself I would NEVER go back to 200 lbs again and then I was really close and knew I needed to do something again. So I told myself the same thing about 190 after getting back into the 170s. Now i have been in that mid to high 180 range for far too long. For some reason I just can't get myself back on a good eating and workout habit again, I know its possible, I've been there and felt so much better, but I am just not motivated. Really hoping this challenge will help me!

Hi! I am new to Spark. I've been on Spark for 14 days. I am 52 years old and hope to get fit with Spark. I also hope that as I get fit, I lose 60 lbs., but the getting fit part is the most important to me. I recently completely tore my ACL and I have a severe bone bruise on my knee. That makes exercise a challenge. I can go for walks and do seated routines. I'm finding a lot of exercises that I can do while seated. I am motivated to get through the holidays without messing up my goals.

My name is Robin. I lost over 50 pounds (through diet and exercise) two years ago and have kept it off ever since. Recently, however, I have started slipping with healthy eating and have gained back about 4 pounds. I've remained very active but that's not enough by itself. I joined this challenge to help me refocus on healthy eating habits.

Just remember that pain is also an indicator of you body saying "hey i need a break" so go gentle on yourself and keep within the guidelines set by your doctors, other wise you'll take a lot longer to get better. I do however encourage you to do as much as possible thru the pain, just don't beat yourself up if you need to take it down a notch or even take a health day off. Good luck and keep at it.

My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

Hi, my name is Amy. I joined Spark in 2014, but have really struggled to get any weight off. I joined this challenge because I have a new job and I am struggling to fit in exercise and water (I am a preschool teacher, and it's hard to take water into my class because the kids try to take it). I really needed a way to change my mindset and shake things up before the holidays turn me into a big blob of exhausted.

Hi emoticon I'm Elaine from Minnesota! I have been on Spark since 2008. Had many ups and downs but finally found what worked for me in 2014 and was able to get down to my almost goal weight. I only have about 25 pounds to go until maintenance but now have been stuck on a plateau.

I am a runner and recently ran my first full marathon on October 4, 2015. I love working out and staying active. I lift weights and for cardio you can find me running, biking, hiking, swimming, etc... I love to be outside so a lot of my fitness circles around being outdoors.

Looking forward to starting this challenge and hoping to bust through this plateau before the holidays hit!

emoticon I love making new friends on Spark so drop me a message or friend me so we can help push each other along! emoticon

Hi! I'm sheila. I've been sparking since 2010. I had lost 42 pounds, but have regained 15 of it in the past 3 years. It's been a battle trying to re-lose those pounds. Several members of my SparkTeam APP (Accountablity And Prayer Partners) have joined the challenge thanks to one of our members, NanHBH.

Hey everyone! I have been here since September 2015 and originally lost 30 lbs of the 43 I wanted to lose. Unfortunately, because I'm backwards I put weight ON this summer. I'm hoping this challenge will keep me motivated to get the 8lbs off I regained and move on to reach my ultimate goal!

Hello fellow Spark Friends.

I've been a member for several years and find myself losing/gaining the same 5 or so pounds. That's unacceptable for me. I need to lose, and I need to lose a lot more than 5#.

I'm currently taking part in the 5% Fall Challenge. Love that Challenge. I'm also a member of the Over 60 Team. So many wonderful Spark friends out there.

Good luck to everyone.

age 64, retired from hospital Nursing in Feb..where I worked 12 hour (or 14 ) hour shifts..always too tired to exercise before or after work and always too busy to devote time on my days off (my excuse). so in Retirement..my main focus is getting rid of junk in the house and junk on my body..it is working. I just calculated that I have walked 89.33 miles for the month of October......Not including other exercise tapes and strength training that I am doing. I feel so much stronger, less winded with movement and have more energy to complete projects and exercise. Have been using spark people over the years but more focused since august. This is a great challenge to add and the timing is great, glad I found it.
Good luck to everyone in reaching their goals and just keep using spark people for encouragement.

Hey all. First believe in yourself, then learn all you can about your body. Be in charge of your own health and happiness. :)

I will be walking for 45-60 minutes EVERYday. Stretching and finding a couple quiet moments each day to smile about my successes.

Anybody have a fit bit? We can step together?

I am 61 and a widow. I no longer work and have had several health issues. I have diabetes and a weak heart. I have also had several bouts with gout in both knees.
I have been on SparkPeople since Dec of 2014 and have not lost any weight but I am getting better at getting some exercise everyday and am much stronger. I am ready to vamp it up some more so I do start seeing the weight come off.

Hi, I got waylaid from my fitness plan by pain from hip bursitis and cervical stenosis. Using this challenge to get back into the good habit of doing some fitness every day.

I'm still in a lot of pain, but I CAN'T let that stop me!

This is my third mini challenge, I love them!!
My goal is stay consistent with exercise and eating healthy. I would love to lose a pound or two each week, it is a challenge with major health issues. I have kidney disease and thyroid disease and work hard to maintain all of my health issues. I also have an ankle disability which limits my walking some days, but I continue to keep on!
Good luck in the challenge!
Sparkon!
