What do you like to do for fun? Garden and cook . I like to read ,sew, do artwork, and needlework. Traveling anywhere.

What diet are you following? Diets never worked long term for me. I do best when I eat balanced protein/carb/fat which boils down to maximum real food, mostly freggies, minimum processed

What is your favorite exercise? Water sports, yoga ,Tai chi

If you did a previous 5% challenge tell us about it. I have done many challenges and need the accountability and reinforcement of the LTGL's.

2 random fun facts about you? I used to be a pilot.I speak 9 languages.

Anything else you would like to share? I am so grateful for these 5% challenges because they have helped me in reaching my goal weight and I'm hoping they will help keep me there!

What do you like to do for fun?
Who has time for fun? Haha

What diet are you following?
I'm doing my own thing, using SP as a guideline. I've worked with a dietician to determine the protein, carbs, and fat numbers that are best for me and use SP to track and monitor my intake.

What is your favorite exercise?
I've been using the cross trainer a lot lately. Love it. Stationary bike is good also. I like walking, but not the treadmill. I prefer to walk outside.

I also do Strength Training using weight machines and some hand weights.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it.
I've never done a challenge before. I think I signed up for one long ago, but never really understood what to do.

Two random fun facts about you?
I'm a software developer in Seattle and a hardcore grammar nazi. Haha

I also participate heavily in the SparkPeople group on Facebook.

Anything else you would like to share?
I started using SP with conviction on March 1 of 2016. Since that time, SP has helped me lose 116lbs, which is just shy of halfway to my goal. I'm on a mission to knock out the last half by the end of 2017!

Looking forward to another great challenge!

What is your name or nick name? I am Glenda

What do you like to do for fun? Read, crochet... I just learned how to quilt and love it! I enjoy binge watching shows with my daughter, hanging out with hubby and the kids.

What diet are you following? Right now, I am just trying to make some good choices. I haven't paid too much attention the last several weeks to calories or anything. Hoping to get back into daily tracking of calories and nutrition, eating more pescetarian, cutting out meat more often than not.

What is your favorite exercise? I really like walking but my plantar fasciitis is making that quite difficult. I enjoy yoga and Sparkpeople strength and cardio videos.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I did Summer and Fall - both on the Cloverleafs. I found myself really motivated the first half, and struggling to keep up the second half. I am really hoping this time to keep strong the full 8 weeks and lose that 5% for good.

2 random fun facts about you? I recently received training in and love doing Reiki! I am working on opening an online business to do distance Reiki and telemental health counseling.

Anything else you would like to share? Hubby and I are in the process of buying a house. If all goes as planned, we should be moving the end of January. It's so exciting and so stressful at the same time!

Come and tell us a little about you!

My name is Deborah and my nick name is Bowdiddle given to me by my dad

I love to ride my horse Buttercup, and I like anything to do with being outside in nature.
I'm not much of a "city person" I have some anxiety issues.

I'm going to incorporate a paleo food plan along with "Beck Diet Solution", and I am changing my behavior toward food a little at a time.

By far riding Buttercup is my favorite exercise, however I also like to walk trails.

This will be my first 5% Challenge and I'm a little apprehensive and a little excited. I've had so many failures in the past, I tend to have defeated thoughts even before I start.

2 random fun facts about me- I love to laugh and I have a goat named Elizabeth. I milk her everyday, and I share homemade goat milk yogurt and ice cream with my neighbor who hasn't been able to eat ice cream for over 12 years!

What do you like to do for fun? listen to music, read, travel, take pictures, spend time with dh, cook, walking and hiking. I'm sure there is more. I'm pretty easy and pretty active.

What diet are you following? None really, just try to eat healthy. I just started tracking calories again on SP.

What is your favorite exercise? walking, the elliptical, circuit training using kettle bells and our home Hoist machine.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I've done 10 other 5% challenges and love the accountability and support. I've almost always been successful losing between 3-5%. I've been in maintenance mode for 3.5 years and just this past week I hit the top end of my range and know I need (and want) to get back to the lower end.

2 random fun facts about you? I am a science teacher and hope to retire in 2.5 years and move to the north west. This Wednesday is the 29th anniversary of my first date with my husband.

~~My name is Renee'.

What do you like to do for fun?
~~I enjoy watching horror movies and tv shows on Netflix, writing, reading, drawing, sipping coffee on a quiet morning, occasionally playing board games with my family, and using/decorating my planner.

What diet are you following?
~~I'm trying to decide. I'm leaning towards a low carb/paleo/gabriel method plan.

What is your favorite exercise?
~~I really don't like to exercise, which makes it hard for me to force myself to do anything, but I reckon if I had to choose a favorite it would be walking and using my dumb bells.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it.
~~I have done many of these challenges, a few years worth actually. I took some time off this year, but, now I'm back! I did really well on a few (very few) of them, but on most of them I fell short of my 5%.

2 random fun facts about you?
~~1. I LOVE rainy days. 2. I LOVE the ocean.

Anything else you would like to share?
~~I have gained a lot of weight over the past year or two, and my health has suffered. I'm much too young to feel as old as I do sometimes. I'm recently on meds and I hope by the end of 2017 I am off of them. This challenge is a right step on that path.

What diet are you following? I am following a primarily Vegetarian based diet.

What is your favorite exercise? Walking, either around the local track, or following Leslie Sansone

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I participated in 2 challenges before. I loved both of them. The experience, and the motivation is out of this world. The team aspect really makes me push myself so that I don't let the team down, and in the end, I'm the one that benefits from it!

2 random fun facts about you? I am a stay at home mommy. I have 4 tattoos and 3 piercings.

Anything else you would like to share? I'm excited to be back on SP (was gone for a short time) and looking forward to getting my butt in gear with this challenge. It really helped with my motivation the last two times I did it.

2 random fun facts about you? This year I traveled to Colombia(2x); the Yucatan, Mexico; the Philippines(2x), with week-long and week-end visits to family in Washington DC and NYC. I like old-school music :-)

I like reading and socialising with friends and family.
I am trying to change to a more healthy eating plan rather than a diet but with lowish carbs.
I do not enjoy exercise on my own but am trying to walk more.
I have never done a 5% challenge but the hospital says that I have got to lose 5% of my body weight in the new year so I found this group at just the right time.

Hi, I am Eden!

I enjoy reading, arts and crafts, favorite tv shows, cooking, and exercise.

I like exercise, but struggle to fit it in. I have recently actually done some yoga with youtube videos, which works when I can't make a class (most of the time). I like Body Pump (exercise with weights and music), but again making the classes can be hard. I enjoy walking and elliptical too.
I count calories. That is basically the key for me. My youngest dd is a vegetarian, so most of my meals are vegetarian.

I have completed several 5% challenges. They are fun and I am looking forward to this one!

Random facts: I have two dogs and two cats and they all shed no matter the season, and I love them all. My youngest dd and I often volunteer at the local animal center.

I let my hair grow out gray two years ago, and I LOVE it!

I'M BACK!

I'm Rebecca, no nickname, and I'm so psyched to re-join the 5% Challenge!

A few years back, I was a fitness powerhouse....However, 41-year-old Rebecca likes to snuggle on the couch a little too often. This 5% Challenge is going to bring back the old Rebecca -- especially as it appeals to my competitive side!

I don't follow a specific diet, but I love the meals in The Spark Solution and will probably be using these as my baseline. For exercise, I am a martial artist (The TKD in my username stands for Taekwondo) and a casual jogger. I have an Xperience Fitness membership and a 2-year-old German Shepherd Dog, so I have no excuses!

I'm looking forward to cheering on all of our teams! Woo hoo! We've got this!

Hello team, Cindy here. I usually go by CindyH since I have such a common name.

I live to be outside and find nature endlessly fascinating. I like to read, research, dig in the dirt and take care my animals. I live on a farm and I love it!

I track all my food through Sparkpeople and continue to adjust my diet to suit my body's special needs.

I like to hike, bike and kayak, but my true love is yoga. To me it is a moving meditation and a full body workout all in one.

This will be my first 5% Challenge.

Unique and fun facts about me: I am a goat herder and an acupuncturist; I aspire to need less, not have more; I like to be silly, accentuate the positve, figure out how it works-and make it better! emoticon

What do you like to do for fun? I love to explore new things, but also enjoy spending time with family, particularly my grandchildren. When I can find time, I love knitting and other crafts.

What diet are you following? My best progress has been when following Atkins. Life has had its share of challenges recently,but I am ready to begin my new"normal" and get back to taking care of me.

What is your favorite exercise? I love to walk and participate in fun themed 5Ks. Daughter and I are planning to do a Santa Hustle in just over a week.

What is your name or nick name? My name is Joyce, but I also go by mommygrandma

What do you like to do for fun? I like reading and most kinds of needlecraft.

What diet are you following? I pretty much know what I need to succeed. I'm diabetic, have hypertension, on total thyroid medication, as I had lobe removed due to cancer, have extremely low potassium so take meds and eat potassium rich foods. Also heart patient, have really bad arthritis. So... Regulate my eating to help these issues.

What is your favorite exercise? I really enjoy strength training. Also videos.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I've done many 5%Challenges since 2013. Some I've lost; some I've not done as well.

2 random fun facts about you?
1. I'm 76yo, but love to jam to the old easy rock music. Lol
2. People never believe I'm as old as I am. Up until just a few years ago, I got carded when asking for Senior Discount!
Anything else you would like to share? I've had one of my granddaughters since her birth and have homeschooled her since she was 2. Still homeschooling. She is a Jr in High School this year. One more year after this year is finished. She is soon to be 17. Oh the joy in raising a teenaged girl in this day and age. Lol

My nickname is Pam.
For fun I cook, bake, and read. I also have a thing for British TV shows, and I love thrift store shopping!
Iím following the diabetic food plan, trying to lose 1-2 pounds a week. I struggle most days to get all my calories and nutrients in.
My favorite exercises are the Leslie Sansone Aerobics videos. I try to do one every day but Sunday.
This is my first 5% challenge. Iíve read great things about them in the blogs, so I signed up!
I love to treat my neighbors to baked goods. It keeps me from eating them all! My husband and I are restoring a 1972 MGB. It is almost ready to drive, and it is beautiful!

I retired in May and started exercising then. Commited to SparkPeople in early September. Since May I have lost 25 pounds. I reached my 10% loss goal and everything else between now and New Yearís is bonus weight loss! I have brought down my blood pressure, and cholesterol and am hoping for better A1C numbers on my next doctorís visit. I am enjoying retirement and have surprised myself on how well I like exercising!

Starting at 184, at the end of the challenge I should weight in at 175, if my math is right!

My name is Jolinda. For fun, I like to knit, read, read information on the internet, and sit outside when the weather permits.

I am trying to limit carbs and sugar from my eating. This is difficult because my husband is snacking all the time on these types of food. For exercise, I ride on my inside exercise bicycle, walk, do senior low impact aerobics, and walk.

I did the Fall 5% Challenge and was not as successful as I would like to have been. I want to do better this time and hold myself accountable. Being accountable to someone or something is necessary for me. Two facts about me are that I was involved in teaching or education for 34 years and want to become more decisive in all facets of my life. I want to be more healthy and feel better about myslef.

I am Adrienne. Been on Spark for quite a while and part of these challenges for 16 or 18 challenges

What do you like to do for fun? I love to read and belong to two Book groups that are awesome. I also try to get in 12000 steps a day and 250 every hour.

What diet are you following? I don't follow a specific diet. We've replaced all of our pastas with whole grain wheat and rice with Brown rice and I get at least 5 Freggies every day

What is your favorite exercise? I am a walker, I try to maintain 15 minute miles and as I said above at least 5-6 miles every day

If you did any previous Challenge tell us about it. I've been a cloverleaf or a Teddy Bear for 16 contiguous chellenges and a leader for most of them.

2 random fun facts about you? 1. I am a maintainer and I credit Sparkpeople and the 5% challenges for getting me to my goal weight and keeping me there. 2. I have two sons, three grandsons and 5 nephews My family doesn't know how to make girls!

I did a few of them, I was actually the most successful in 2016 Fall Challenge. I didn't quite meet my goal but I am close. I lost 35 pounds 4 years ago with SP, then regained some, and now I'm trying to lose all that weight and some more!

2 random fun facts about you? I always carry around my Kindle and if I forget it for some reason when I go out, I get cranky (LOL). Books are always my companion.

Fall challenges are the most difficult for me since I have a crazy work schedule from September to November. This is the first fall challenge when I will have ended lower than I started. Leaders & my fellow travelers inspire me to stick to my plan.

2 random fun facts about you? I work on a 38 ft pink RV from April through November for a local breast cancer resource foundaiton.

Sundays are my tech-free days - no phones, computers, tablets, FB, etc. (unless I am working because then I need access).

High my name is Ellen. I want to join this challenge as I have gained weight back.

My husband has heart issues and is now going to have surgery on Nov. 21st to have a pacemaker defibrillator implanted in his chest.

I have belonged to weight loss groups in the past on another site and I know I need the help of other people with the same problem.

I have known Sharonharter for years and she has recommended this site and challenge to me. She loves your site and all it is doing to help her.

If I could be put on her team so we could push each other that would be wonderful. It is Firecrackers. If not I want to join and make new friends.

Come January I will be so ready to lose weight and hopefully most of my worries for my husband will be gone.

I am 61 and 153-155 pounds- 5'5" retired. There is also a gym in the Condo I live in so I have no excuses. I am a runner mostly with the rowing machine and pull down of weights added when I have time.

Hi everyone. It has been a while since I have been on a team. My signature says I was in the Spring 2015 challenge! Hopefully this team challenge will help kick my butt into full gear again!

What do you like to do for fun? Garden, watch movies, play games, spend time with my family, crafts, plan parties!

What diet are you following? I have my own diet. I have not eaten red meat since 2011. I try to limit my cheese, fried foods, and sweets intake.

What is your favorite exercise? Zumba is fun!

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it: I have been on the Firecrackers and Starfish teams in the past. It was fun but sometimes challenging to post on time!

Hi, I'm joining as a step toward losing my last 10 lbs. I'm down 29 lbs. now and will be down 30 by January 1.

Favourite exercise is swimming... don't get there as often as I'd like, so walking is second

I can't remember when I did this challenge last, but I lost my 5% before the 8 weeks was up. I did awesome and look to do so again.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I think I first joined in 2014, the first few challenges I didn't lose but I didn't gain I also learned a lot from LTGL part of the challenges.
The spring challenge 2016 I lost, the fall challenge went up and down but finally going down to almost where I started, just off a few ounces. But the challenges whether I gain or lose keep me motivated and helping me to want to stay on track

2 random fun facts about you? I love to have rest days in my pjs all day, take a shower at night and get back into clean pjs and watch TV, then go to bed. I like playing computer games
