Hi, my name is Lisa. I lice in GA. I am married with 4 children and 14 grandchildren {between us}. My mother and children/grandchildren all live in England. Our other two children/grandchildren live about an hour away from us. We have a cute set of grand baby girl twins that we adore. I am hoping to meet other Christians to take this healthy lifestyle journey with me.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

When I am thirsty, I am hungry for liquids.
When I am feeling down, I'm hungry for support.
When I am feeling lonely, I'm hungry for people.

Hello. My name is ON_A_DIET.

I need God in my life so bad. I have so many toxic people in my life. Do any of you know what I mean?

I am a confirmed Roman Catholic that has not found the just right religious team yet. I am usually ignored on the religious teams.

Bare with me as I only understand Proverbs and Psalms. The rest of the Bible is hard for me to understand.

I am looking forward to fellowship and fitness with you.

Thank you for having me on the team.

I am so glad I found this team! I have had some health issues and have been asking a variety of people for prayer. I have been so blessed spiritually by that, but am still trusting God for my healing.
I love to pray scripture for people and claim His promises for us found in His word. Thank you for being here with me, praying for me and for the fellowship here.

Hi. I'm Amy and in my 42 years of life I've lived in several places (OH, NJ, GA, PA, NJ again, and IN) I have been married for 13 years, no kids, and our cats, Alfalfa and Flax are 14. (They were his, but now he says they're mine!) I am an aunt to 5 nephews and 3 nieces ranging in age from 17 to 2.

I grew up in a Christian home and decided to follow Jesus at age 8 and was baptized the same year. I went to a Christian college and spent a summer in Ecuador as a missionary. I have always loved working with people and have volunteered throughout my life with children, those with special needs, teens, and most recently, the elderly.

I had the "perfect" job working at a school for children and adolescents with autism. Although it was difficult, I loved it! Then I injured my back in 2002 and that was when things started getting out of control. I had been somewhat active before (had been whitewater rafting and rapelling before). For three months, I couldn't even put my socks and shoes on and I gained 60 lbs.! I wasn't able to keep my job or apartment and my family had moved to IN by then. I went out there and promptly totaled my 2 yr old vehicle. God wanted me in Indiana, it seems, because that's when I met Brad.

If you go to my page and read my blogs (not near as long as this) you'll see my first attempt at bettering my health didn't work so well. Now I have a serious health issue and am going to be in a clinical trial on top of fibromyalgia, arthritis, among other things.

Anyway, this time around, it is out of necessity that I must lose weight. God has been very good to me (no surprise) in the last almost 3 weeks. I have drastically changed my eating habits and have been craving free so far! I have yet to start exercising, but it will come. This time around, I want to "surround" myself with other believers who know where our strength and our help come from. So, here I am.

Yes, Pam, we go back a ways together, you & I. emoticon I'm glad you became a part of our team. Glorifying God & His Son, plus lifting each other up in prayer--that's what we're all about. And to help each other get our minds off of the food & back onto God, relying on Him to lead us to our ideal weight. emoticon

Hi, my name is Pam, and I have been a spark member since 2010. I live in Mid Michigan, and am looking forward to cross-country skiing up north, since our last snowfall. I noticed IAMDANIELSTRONG's name, and wanted to let her know that I am a leader of the Daniel Plan. Also, RELISA4HEATH, is a new member on my team as well!! My hobbies are reading, cooking, playing guitar and singing for church, school, weddings, and senior retirement communities. I joined this as my spark friend, PAULAJEAN, is here, and it looks to be an active team giving glory to Christ with honoring him with our minds, bodies and uplifting each other as a body of believers.

Hi. My name is Julia. I have been married for almost 30 years. I have two college age sons. I have lived in Illinois my entire life. I believe my faith is a gift. I started going to a new church last summer. My husband has just started coming to church with me over the past few months. I stepped back and let God work in his heart. Once I got out of God's way, after nearly 30 years he decided to join me. God is good.

I enjoy reading and writing in my free time. I try to sneak crafts with glitter in whenever I can. One of my mottos is "life is too short not to glitter". Camping is also a favorite past time.

I was a Spark member years ago, but slipped back into unhealthy choices. Recent health issues had me rethinking the destructive path I have been on. I am finally addressing my health issues.

Hi Allison,

You have a very touching and powerful testimony. I am glad you joined our team. I have been to Canada a hand full of times with my husband. It is very nice there. (Niagara Falls Canada side is so much better than the New York side). I have never heard of the Daniel Plan so maybe I will check it out. I can't wait to hear more of your testimony. I bet your book would be a great read!

God bless,

Janel

I do have quite the testimony... the amazing part is as I look back, even before I knew that God cared, He was there... guiding and nudging, I didn't know that it was Him at the time but now I absolutely know! I am not very far from several of the Great Lakes so we do occasionally get slammed with the snow, not right now though and for that I am grateful

Thanks for sharing with us, Allison. You have been through a lot! I can see that you have a rich testimony.
I've never crossed the Canadian border, but spent the first 29 years of my life close to it--in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Do you experience lake-effect snowstorms where you live now?

My name is Allison and I live in a small city (Woodstock) which is about an hour and half south west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have a lot of history that I will be happy to share at some point, the short version is - grew up not in a Christian home, abused for many years, went into foster care at 13, on my own at 16 and dropped out of high school. Moved to San Diego and got married at 19, had my kids when I was 20 and 21 then divorced and moved back to Canada... decided I need an education so finished high school, went to college, got an accounting designation. During that time had my 3rd child with my second husband. He died when our youngest daughter was 8. In 2009 I turned 40, was baptized and married a child hood friend. I am now a tax partner in a national accounting firm (BDO) and I am striving to get my life in balance following the Daniel Plan (Rick Warren and friends) which combines the elements of Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus and Friends together to come up with a lifestyle that is healthy and pleasing to God. I am not great at making time for SP every day but I will try and check in with this group to offer whatever encouragement I can!

JPPERSELL, thank you for the invitation to this team. I'm Elayne, 68 yrs. young and am married to my best friend of 41 years. I'm a musician and play alto sax every Sunday morning in our Episcopal Church's orchestra. We practice for about an hour and a half Sat. mornings. We also play for events in the community. Our main focus is on worshipping our Lord and bringing others closer to Him through our music. I've been playing sax since I was 9 years old. My Dad was a music teacher/band director. Music is my passion. I love playing all kinds of Christian music. I have 2 brothers and a sister. My parents are in Heaven now after having lived a good long life.

We have a feline son named Max. He'll be 7 in human years. We lost our other cat, Thor to diabetes. "He" has written a book about his experiences called " The Life and Times of Thor,
A Very Special Cat's Journey." You can find it on Amazon in both E-reader and in paper back.

My hobbies are reading, watching football, hockey and golf. I am also addicted to coloring and you can see my many pictures in my photo section. I color while I'm watching news and sports.

I'm having some medical tests done Wed and Friday. I'm having a cardiac work up as my EKG was abnormal. I also have severe COPD, so it's time for a pulmonary work up again. I'm very short of breath and am frustrated that I haven't played since Christmas. Please keep me in your prayers.

Hey Tim! Hang in there! Praying for you.

Just want to copy and paste this in. My internet connection is lousy at the moment. Keeps dropping out so I can't get back on. Don't know why. Switching providers tomorrow so maybe that's it. Am doing a full system scan in case something funny is going on. Off to check the other threads now if I can.

Hi! I am 53, 5'6", live in the UK, am married, have no children or pets, enjoy walking as my main exercise, and also enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, listening to music, watching films, playing scrabble, and doing sudoku puzzles, amongst a lot of other things.

I am a born again Christian, and am currently trying to make my menu more varied and nutritious, as well as cutting out the sugar and additives. My diet is an average of 1500 calories over the course of a week, and I'm almost half way through a 100 pound weight loss. I want to start experimenting with exercise DVDs some time soon, and hope to be at goal weight (150 pounds) before Christmas 2017.

Thank you for the invite to this team. I am a 58 year old retired nurse who has a lot of weight to lose. I live in Ohio but spend lots of time in Australia. I am 74, Don and I have been married 52 years Feb 28, we have 3 adult children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grand children. We are very blessed. Don is suffering a bit from vertigo right now, hopefully it will pass soon.

I am very active in church, leader of worship and music committee, council president. lead the ecumenical Bible study group. Help with our warming center (just open church for the people in charge). Also active in the Red Hats, our group is called the Rhody Red Hatters.

I enjoy reading, music, playing computer games and doing farmtown on facebook. I would like to lose a total of 50 lbs, but am working on 10lbs at a time. I started at 216 in 2013 , now down to 195.2 slow but sure.

What an inspiration you are to this team, Della. Yes, we love the Lord Jesus Christ! I love how you put it: "SparkPeople has all the tools we need to get our lives back when we know Jesus." How very true that is! I'm praising Him for giving you freedom from overeating & reaching your goal weight. You have come a long ways & God has set you free with His truth! emoticon

Hello! I've read all the post prior to this and it's a blessing to be with people on a sparkteam who love the Lord! I'm Della from Colorado. Soon will be 64, mother of 3, grandmother soon to be 5 times! I've been a single woman many years. Healed from PTSD by standing on God's promises. I came from an middle class home in OK. Was born again 11/30/1976 just before 10:30 pm Calif. time. My life has been forever changed. I trust Him for the salvation of my family. God heals families, not just individuals lol! At this time I have a horrible time getting internet. It's been a long time since we've had decent wifi. Mountains make it difficult. I read a lot of what's written but my autotext messes up a lot on cell phone lol. So I hope you can understand my text post. This is .. 3rd time with spark and I've met my goal weight! Have a healthy BMI, too. In fact, I've lost 10-15 pounds more in maintenance! No more weight loss, only healthy living! I'm thankful to God for my freedom now regarding food. I was a pastor's wife and more recently loved learning of the missions in the USA! God will use anyone who will answer his call! I'm a great example of that :). PS at this time, I live in my 5th wheel and I enjoy the freedom it's given me. SparkPeople has all the tools we need to get our lives back, when we know Jesus! If I can lose from 215 to 138, anyone can! PSS I'm recovered/recovering from a car accident 2.5 yrs ago, now. Wow time flies when you're having fun. God has given me wisdom with my back, spasms, etc. PTL for that, too. I lost weight after the accident! Even though the nasty meds, in the begining I gained weight! Don't give up. Hang around and keep trying andYou will be a healthy weight also! Della

We were not impacted by the fires. It was definitely a heartbreaking event though. Not one I would like to repeat.

Hello. My name is Lisa and I have been on and off with Sparkpeople since 2008. I have been walking with the Lord steadily for the last 26 years. I work as a Finance Assistant at our church and absolutely love my job. I am married with three children. Two sons, 26 and 22 and a daughter, who is 17. I enjoy quilting and crocheting. We live very close to the Smoky Mountains, so we enjoy spending our free time there.

Every day is a good day. Some are just better than others!

Hello! God heard my heart's cry this afternoon. I truly have had a day where I NEED to bow before Him and cry "Abba Father!"

I am 45 years old, a wife, a mother, a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. I teach Sunday School and sing. I have Multiple Sclerosis, but it doesn't have me.
Our daughter has recently been diagnosed with Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome and Super Ventricular Tachycardia. She is 15. She has been dealing with this since 7th grade; however, we always thought it was panic attacks. Today was her 2nd day of gym this school year. She had physical fitness testing. She wanted to try to run the pacers. Her heart went into SVT. She had to take her medicine immediately. I was already in the car pool lane. So, when the nurse called I pulled around to pick her up.
I keep putting her health in God's hands. I know Jesus is her Healer. When this happens, it is so hard to not grab her out of His hands. I stay on high alert after these episodes. Today was the worst we have had since her diagnosis. It breaks my heart because she wants to try to be normal. Thank God the medicine works.
We worry about our children no matter what (I know we are not suppose to worry, but let's be honest, we do.) This has added a whole new dimension to worry.
Please pray for her (Grace) She handles this all so well. She is so strong and courageous.
Thank you! I look forward to getting to know all of you and praying for you, too!

Hi! Welcome to the team! Thanks for sharing a little bit about yourself. I am a co-leader along with Michelle and Gayle. Lois is the leader. She is great. I am so happy for you for reaching your weight goal. You can do anything in Christ if you believe that you can maintain you will. If you have a prayer request please post in the forum. In this group we do pray for each other and nothing is too small to go before the Lord with LOL. This team is pretty new. We are starting to get a little bigger. It will take time and thats okay because the team members are all great people. Take care!

Jennifer and Carrisa, I can't imagine having to deal with RA for so many years. I still have to deal with back pain, even the back surgery a little over a year ago can't fix it all.

Kelly, it is so good to have you here.

I think God had a lot to do with all of us being on this team.

Welcome Carissa and Kelly!
I have fibromyalgia and it does make exercise a little more challenging sometimes but I DO feel SO much better when I get into an exercise routine and STAY there. Once I stop for several days it's like starting all over again and I have to go very slow and easy so I don't set off a flare that lasts weeks at a time. Fortunately my sleep is not affected though, so I don't have to deal with the pain/lack of sleep issues.
And I too feel like it was no accident being invited to this team ... God puts us where He wants us and where we need to be :) And this is a wonderful place to be!
Best wishes to you both, and to all of us, as you/we journey on :)
Feel free to add me as a friend!

Kaye, I am glad you feel such a part of this team. Some teams are so large you haven't got the time to learn first name or even go back to give a goodie.

Trina, I hope I got that right. It is great to have you on board. I am so thankful for you and your DH's sacrifice to share the gospel. Heavenly rewards never fade, they last forever. Bless you. I am so sorry about your mom. That had to be so difficult alone. We have others on this team who have lost their moms lately and we all know how you feel.

Hello!!
I'm here because of Caiti! I am with her on another team, and when I went to friend her, I saw this team and Lois, so I'm here!

My family just spent a year (as of this Saturday) in NC. We cashed in our 401K and moved far away so DH could attend bible college. He just finished his first year. Through circumstances that the Lord had for us, He has given us quite the adventures of faith. We have to rely upon Him for every need. I always wanted to live the life of faith like George Muller and Husdon Taylor. Well, the Holy Spirit said, why don't you. While my husband works, it doesn't make enough beyond necessary bills after health care is taken out each month. His odd hours make it difficult for another job, and I homeschool our 2 kids. They are my most important job, so me going out to find work isn't possible, besides my own health issues. We have just enough for meager groceries, and nothing for school. I just sold most (not all) of my jewelry so DH can start school. Treasures upon earth or heaven? I'll pick heaven. Jewely isn't going to mean anything when people need to hear the gospel, and that's our primary focus. Getting the gospel out and discipling.

Right now, my main love is our nursing home ministry. I just pray I'm as much as a blessing to them as they are to me!

If I didn't claim God's promises, I'd be useless, emotionally paralyzed, or a basketcase!

Like Caiti, I have lots of pain from inflammation and diabetes. I'm going to reverse that this year! I've already lost 6 lbs by the grace of God! I can't serve Him like I could at the weight that I am. It's for Him I'm losing, family second. If God makes me disabled that's one thing, but not by my own fleshly desires!

Opps, sorry, wrote a book, LOL

Donna, My mom died in March 2016 just over 2 months after we moved. My DH has to watch the kids while I tended to my mom's needs all alone. Watching my mom die all alone the last night she spent on earth was one of the most difficult things I had to do. I had no one but God with me. My mom was in such a state from cancer that spread to her brain, the kids couldn't be around her and they went to every single treatment and Dr apt with her. I love choir and am an avid reader also. We have somethings in common!

Great to know you both Caiti and Kaye. Isn't it wonderful to have other Christian friends to encourage us a long life's journey. God is good and to be praised.

Looking forward to seeing you on the team as you have time.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It's great to be a part of such a loving, Christian team! I look so forward to getting to know each and everyone one of you!

Janel, it sounds like you are in a similar situation with the home remodel. It seems like it will last forever, especially in the face of health issues along the way. But you will make it, and when you do, you will know the greatest relief of your life! I pray that your husband will heal quickly. Neck surgery sounds very serious. As far as my medical choices, I'm open to answering any questions you have! I definitely still have some traditional medical things I do, but mostly try to stick to holistic.

Kay, I thought your story was very interesting. So thankful that you have had positive changes in your life recently--it makes the healthy road a little easier to travel when all things are piecing together well. Blessings to you!

Hi my name is Kay. I have always known Jesus Christ was my Savior but not until this year did I really commit myself to Jesus and was baptized a Christian. I also married my childhood friend after we both went through some trying previous marriages. I am facing many health challenges and use this site to track make sure I'm getting the right type of foods for my nutrition. Even though I'm faced with health challenges, this has been the most happy time of my life. I have received so many wonderful blessings this year.

Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change. And I can only change what I set my mind to.

Welcome Ginie, Mel, and Caiti ... you've joined a truly wonderful group of supportive Christian friends!

Where in Kansas are you, Mel? I grew up in Newton but then moved with my family to Iowa right after graduating high school some 27 years ago :)

Hi Caiti!

Boy did I love your story! My husband and I were in the military (I am retired now) and a stay at home wife. My boys are grown. Praise God I am able to stay home. We are undergoing a massive remodel to on our current home and boy has it been some process. My husband had to have neck surgery which required a long healing process so things have slowed down dramatically. He wants to do everything himself! Oy! But God love Him he does the best he can and he is working. We have been going to the gym together and eating right. We eat mostly fish, rice and veggie stir frys which has been making us feel better. My family is very close knit as well. Three of my four sons live with us. The milennials just don't want to leave. That's ok. They will one day.

I am interested in you doing natural medicine for your health. I do a mix of natural health and traditional medicines.

I am so happy you joined the group. We love and care about you and as you can tell we are here to share your goals, achievements, when you need to vent and when you need prayer. We want you to stay motivated and bathe in the love of our Savior Christ Jesus because He loves you and wants to take care of your every need so particpate girl! You've come to the right place!

Hello! My name is Caiti, and I live in Texas! I have lived many different places, but I'm home to stay now in a small town where my husband and I just bought a new house! We have a 3 year old son who is full of life and energy. We are a very close-knit trio, and thanks to God, both work at the same Christian school. I even get the great honor and privilege to work from home so I can raise our son. We couldn't be more blessed if we tried.

As far as the rest of my life outside of that, it's a bit chaotic. I have several health issues that are unexplained for the most part. I have been on a health journey for 5 years, and trying all sorts of weird diets since age 10. We quit the smoking habit 5 years ago, as our first step toward health, and have made multiple changes since then.

We mostly take a natural approach to our life now. We had our son at home with a midwife. We celebrate chiropractic and acupuncture. We have practiced functional medicine, and I did a 60 day juice only fast a year and a half ago. But, in the midst of our journey to health a few things happened. I have blogged a lot about it on spark, but we just finished a five year remodel on our former house. It wasn't a nice remodel either--it was the tearing down walls, ripping out floors, replacing MAJOR things kind of remodel. So, health got put on the back-burner the past couple of years. In addition, I have a strange, mentally ill set of parents. They have managed to isolate themselves from everyone, all family included--myself included. Within the past few months, my relationship with them has completely deteriorated and is unfortunately no longer. That has been a terrible grieving process for me, but each day is a step forward. God is helping me through the love of my husband, son, inlaws, a Christian counselor, and multiple loving friends.

So, now I'm here. I suffer with chronic pain from prolonged inflammation, caused by stress, poor diet, and more stress. I do not sleep well, and have not for five years. I am bigger than I have ever been, and need to lose about 110 pounds. So, I need spark, I need friends here, I need prayer, and I need to be healthy. I look forward to getting to know all of you! thanks for inviting me, Janel! --Caiti

Welcome and thank you both Mel and Mie for introducing yourselves. I think you will find this team loving and a team that will encourage you on. Hang on.

Mie, my brother in law, at a young age, had a motorcycle injury and was unconscious 30 days and then they thought he would be a vegetable. Praise the Lord, he was not a vegetable and worked for the government until he retired.Nothing is impossible for God.

Hello, my nickname is Carmel but most of my online friends call me Mel. I was born in Oklahoma but have lived in Kansas for over 25 years. I have four children and 13 grandchildren. I have led a pretty isolated life with moments of clarity. I am praying that this time I can continue my journey and go around the bumps that happens in life. My goals are to get out more, work on getting healthier and getting my positivity back. I look forward to getting to know you all. I want to thank JPPERSELL for inviting me to this group. I truly appreciate your kindness.

Hi I'm Ginie-well that's what my friends and most of my family call me the Mie in my Spark name is an abbreviation of my middle name-Marie. I don't go by my legal name because I was one of 10 children and all of our names began with V M.
I was the eldest of 10, four years ago I lost my sister closest in age to me to a brain tumor she was only 60. December the next sister in line passed away at 62. Prior to those losses I lost both my parents, mom in 82 and dad in 96 and in 2005 my husband. Steve was 57 and did not care for his health very well, nor did he like it when I adjusted our menus to be lower in carbs and sodium. He and I had been married 35 years and 9 months we have 5 children a daughter and four sons.
In June of 2010 my middle son, had a serious motor cycle accident. He was cut off by someone making a left turn right after a truck cleared the intersection and didn't notice him on his Kawasaki. My life took another turn. In April of 2010 I had started SP. I made wonderful progress. I was committed to improving my health, my weight and my spiritual life...then the accident Erik suffered a traumatic brain injury and in fact was not expected to survive the first 48 hours. The morning after his accident the doctor had to remove his skull to keep the swelling from damaging his chances even more. I went out and started swimming every morning at 6 am before going to the hospital. I spent days at the hospital using the stairs instead of the elevator-I was losing weight and felt better-scared but better. My summer break-I was a HS French Teacher-was nearly over and Erik got his skull put back on, the first day of school I was at the hospital as they fused a few vertebrae in his upper back.
I struggled to eat well, but I wasn't sleeping well. I lost over 30 pounds. After two years of working and being in charge of his care and getting help I retired early, the stress was killing me. I have regained my weight, I cannot leave him too long on his own and definitely cannot go for the morning swims. He has seizures, usually in the early morning, so he's not supposed to be left alone for hours. In fact the last major seizure I walked in after cutting my morning walk short and heard him in a full blown seizure that I timed at 17 minutes before the ambulance came. We do have some part time help
He likes to eat out, it's his social outlet and since I'm the caregiver/mom I take him. I'm not always making good choices at the restaurants. His doctor told him he had to lose weight-he gained another 20, she was frustrated, but this New year he has decided he's fat and we have to lose weight-he wants to try nutri-system. I told him NO WAY. We can eat more veggies and fruits and you can eat less desserts. If I can get him to buy in to that, I can eat better too.
In November I started chair yoga, and right after Thanksgiving I had begun a water aerobics class. It was 6 sessions but it was during the time we had help so it was suppose to work-then my sister died and we flew up north for the funeral....and I fell apart.
I'm planning on going back to chair yoga when it picks up next week, I will also do drop in water aerobics when I can and do laps and aerobics on my own when he has water therapy.
That and walking, even around the house will help me. He and I, when the weather is better can go to the park to walk on the paved walkway-it's level and with his AFO he struggles with slopes.
I have not neglected my spiritual side, actually I think I've cared more for that the past few years than for my body. I am a Catholic and have always been active in my parish. I've got a strong Faith for which I am grateful, because without it I would not have made it through the past 12 years or so. I have been involved in ministries all along but for my emotional health-I sometimes feel cut off since I just can't pick up and go and leave Erik and he won't go to church with me as he blames God for his TBI.
I just want to be healthy in mind and body and be the best mother/guardian I can be for my son. I also want to maintain a cheerful attitude about being his caregiver and be an example of how Faith can give one strength so that one day he will go back to church with me.
Sorry for rambling on.... emoticon
