emoticon to the team and great job setting yourself that 8K goal. I agree with JOELSP and
J-SPIN. Slowly increase your walk/run intervals to build your endurance. Good luck and keep us posted. Looking forward to cheering you on! emoticon

Way to get motivated and set your goal...you can do it! But I would definitely start increasing your intervals so that you can build endurance.

I find podcasts help for me too - I listen to Suz's www.kissmyblackass.org (search for couch to 5k or 8k podcasts). The music may not suit you, but there are other ones through itunes that you can download too.

Good luck!

You might want to start running/walking for a bit longer. An 8km race in September (this was cross country with hills) took me about 45 minutes. That said, its a long distance, for your bodies sake you might want to prepare a bit more.

Nearer to race time - about a month before, once a week try and run(or if you plan on walking some walk a bit) your distance and record your time.

Wow! An 8K! I think the podcasts will probably work for you, too.
Congrats on deciding to do it!

Hi everyone!! I have been jogging/running every morning for quite a while....I will pretty much run for 1 minute/walk for 1 minute....for about 25 minutes.

Well, I've signed up for Crazylegs in Madison, WI on April 24th, which is an 8k run. My husband is a runner so this will be no problem for him. For me, that's another story!! I have asthma which makes distances difficult. I have a little more than two months to get my endurance built up.

Right now, it all seems impossible. I'm not worried about getting a good finish time....I'm just worried about not being able to finish!!

I look forward to learning how to train the correct way from you all!!

Thanks for listening!!
