Give it a spin. I always thought I was limited to walking... wrong. This is a doable program. I you stumble you just repeat a day or a week.

Get a Podcast, read up on breathing, GET RUNNING SHOES and give it your best effort. You will be hooked before you realize it.

There is an endorphine rush that gets a little addicting over time.

Have Fun.

Welcome to the team! You are so right about trying it to find if you like it and if not find something else. I'm 55 and always hated running too, but have just been doing this a few months and love it now. It's different because it's not something I have to do, like when I was in school and the teacher said I had to run and the other kids were faster and I was so out of shape and miserable. It's my choice, and I don't have to be fast or feel like there is something wrong with me because others pass me. I am so much more free in my attitude now and it makes such a huge difference. So maybe just doing this because you want to, not because anyone is making you, might make a huge difference. Don't worry about speed and take it as slow as you need to. You can gain speed later. There is always going to be someone faster than you and someone slower than you so don't worry about what anyone else is doing. Even when I run/walk a 5k race (in which I've even come in dead last a couple of times) I take pride that I got out there and did it and not feel embarassment because I was last.

So just try it, relax, and you may be amazed at what you can do! And like you said, if you end up hating it then you find some other activity that you like better. You'll never know till you give it a shot!

you can do it! I'm a new runner too. We just have to not think about it so much and just do it. I'm starting easy with fast walking and very little running during Week 1. ( I still break a sweat, and i need to drop these 20 lbs!)

Hi everyone! So the message boards are going to be my source of motivation for this challenge. I am a new runner, as in I have hated running in the past and figured I might as well give it a try again- the worst that can happen is I realize I really don't like running and I find another activity, right?? But anyways, I'm really nervous!
