Hi I'm Sandra. I a diligent Spark member for about 6 years and lost down to 145. I gradually stopped my efforts and my weight is almost back up to what it was and with no exercise, I'm totally out of shape again. I've got to get my mojo back.

I do accounting for a restaurant with 4 locations and am mostly sedentary during the day. Looking for this team to help inspire me to put it all back together.

Glad to be here and look forward to "meeting" all of you.

Welcome to the team, Jean! And yep, you'll find you have lots in common with this group. That includes moments of forgetfulness. (Well, speaking for myself, at least.)
I wish you well in progress toward your healthful goals.

Hi, since I just turned 60 in April thought it would be fun to be around people around my age that know what I'm talking about. LOL. Anyway, I enjoy having fun. We have a camper and spend weekends there since we are still working but enjoy fixing it up. I have two great-nephews that keep me on my toes. We play horse and also card games. They give my sister (who is their grandmother and is 10 years old then me) and I grief sometimes because we have a tendency to forget things sometimes or have goofy moments, but they always want to be at her house and always want me to come over. They keep me feeling young.

Well my name is Jean, I live in Wisconsin. Have lived here most of my life except when I was in the Army then I went to Alabama for Basic Training, Texas for my AIT Training and then Colorado for my permanent place. I had graduated in June 1972 and in Oct 1972 was in the Army. Pretty scary for never being away from home. I am married, have been 28 years, will be 29 July 4th (he told me to pick a date he could remember). Never had any children but have always had my cats who were my babies. Right now I have two of them IPod and Snickers. I have been to a few other states after the Army, I was in Anchorage, AK (beautiful to visit but I couldn't live there, couldn't get used to the winter almost always dark and summer almost always light), Tucson, Arizona and Lawton, Oklahoma. Tucson I loved. Oklahoma was way too humid and heard the tornado sirens too much. But it was an experience. Now I am back in my home town where I went to school and graduated from.

Greetings from Idaho! I just turned 63 and have been on SparkPeople for several years. Overall, I'm discouraged about my lack of progress, but giving up altogether isn't an option, so I keep getting up again. I need to remember that if I do what I've always done, I'll get what I've always got!
On my birthday I decided that this is going to be MY year and I'm hoping to make progress in my weight and other personal goals. Wish me luck in making REAL change!

Good morning from Minnesota where almost all the snow has melted and we think, are hoping, believing spring is here to stay.
I returned to Spark a month ago and am slowly getting back into various sites, blogs, etc. remembering how one can spend hours on Spark reading, interacting, and well, not getting up to exercise.
I am heading toward 66! have been retired on and off for the past few years ever since my husband died, currently totally retired again, but toying with returning to part time. I loved my work as chaplain and serving as pastor to small rural churches, so when a call comes asking if I'd fill in, help out, it is very difficult to say no. Too often such churches are finding it difficult to find and then keep pastors; many prefer the larger towns and cities and full time work!
But I have been enjoying the volunteer activities I do, and meeting friends for plays, movies, lunches, and doing some traveling this past winter.
anyhow, I am back to eating healthy, working out some each day but kind of at a plateau which is so hard; makes me want to give up. I go back and forth... lose a pound, gain a pound, for four weeks now. Guess I have to up the exercise vs lowering the calories as I've learned from experience that doesn't help at all; I'm where I'm supposed to be re calorie intake.
So.. plan to take a longer walk today and maybe amp up the strength exercises tomorrow.

Hi everyone. My name is Lynne, and I'll be 65 in October. I joined Sparkpeople about 2 years ago. Everything was pretty good, and I like many others kind of lost coming in. Then February 2nd this year I quit smoking. The weight started to move. I decided to come back in and stay this time. I know its a great program as it worked before.
I live in Ontario Canada, I've been on disability for about 14 years because of a brain injury from a car accident. I love to walk, bike ride, and sew. The sewing is brand new this last year and I am totally hooked. I love to make handbags and baby dresses; Looking to meet some new people and hopefully get and give some support along the way. emoticon

And Sally, so glad you've found the bravado to join in the Over 60s board conversations. The support has amazed me, having restarted SparkPeople little more than a month ago myself. So glad you met your doc's initial weight reduction goal. Good job!

Hello, Everyone. I'm Sally. I retired a few months ago--was a long time Hospice RN. Loved my job but my husband got a new job in western WA (Everett) so moved here from eastern WA--Loon Lake WA near Spokane. I'm now trying to acclimate to new area and trying to make new friends. We've been married 32 years. Have a 30 year old son in Chicago and 28 year old daughter still in Spokane WA. (Unfortunately both are still single; no grandchildren yet.) I am having a knee replacement in mid May; was instructed by surgeon to lose 20 pounds prior to surgery. I've lost 18 so far thanks to joining Sparkpeople and plan to continue losing until I reach my goal of losing 100 total. I have been reluctant to get involved in group messaging but have been following posts and decided to get up my courage and join in.

I am coming back to Spark People. I am 68 now, and my thumb has arthritis making it hard to cook!!! Might be good to connect with others who have ways of avoiding any pinching motions. I have to learn an entire new way to hold a wash cloth. I really want to get back to tracking my food and get back to an exercise program, even if modified. thanks for listening, Carol

Hi Terry.
I am glad that you joined this team. I am in awe of the fact that you lost 100 pounds. Don't be so hard on yourself for gaining back 40 - after all, you haven't even gained back half of what you lost. That's the bright side of it, in my opinion!

I look forward to working through this with everyone on the team!

Good morning everyone!
My name is Martha. I am 61 years old and live out in the boonies on the backroads of Alabama. I love the country life!

I have been on SparkPeople inconsistently since 2009. It seems I can always get down to "ten pounds above perfect", then I stop. Why, I don't know! I am determined and dedicated to sticking with it this time. I plan to weigh 135 by May 1st.

I am so glad I found this team and look forward to "meeting" those of us in our prime! LOL
Happy sparking!

Hi
I'm Terry from South Eastern Virginia.
A few years ago I lost 100 lbs on Weight Watchers, and I realized recently that it was all due to being really into working out and walking. I even walked/jogged a 5 K a couple of times.

Then some health issues got in my way, and I've regained 40 + lbs. I am disgusted with myself, for letting things go, and am determined to get myself back together. I just found out that I am going to be a Grandmother for the first time and I want to be able to enjoy my new title and the little one that goes along with it.

I now have a positive outlook and am looking forward to being part of this team.
Have a happy day!

I Can (will) Do This! I Can(will) reach my goals!

Hello! I just joined your team. It has been 7 years since I was active in Spark People and I found I wasn't "50+" anymore. :-)
I just want to reclaim that healthy lifestyle we all know is right for us. Hope you have room in your group for another team member.

My name is Vannie. Next year will be my 10th year of retirement from the 9 to 5 world--wow, that is hard for me to believe. I write, I read, however, reading is not a hobby it a lifestyle for me. I joined SP in 2010 but started being involved in 2012; in 2013 I became totally immersed. My commitment to SP has helped me stay firm about losing weight and staying healthy. I consider the many lovely SP friendships a bonus for doing the right thing--a win, win combination.

OK, gang! First time I am doing this...and only because Spark Coach says message boarding will help and you seem to be my cohorts :). I have been following SP for a couple of years. About a year ago, I got true spark and have lost 10 pounds. I am currently a workout fiend and do something everyday. 3 times a week I workout for an hour. The rest of the week I fit in whatever exercise I can, around a very time consuming job. I have built up to doing 100+ push ups daily when a year ago I couldn't do one! Not bad for a 62 yo! So currently I have the fitness plan in place. My goal is to get to 143 lbs, that will put me at the very top of my BMI. But I remain stuck at 147, for months. I am a stress eater. I get thru half the day and then I blow my eating resolve. My fitness plan is what is saving me from gaining. I want to get eating back into control. I have 4 pounds to go - why is this so hard?

Hi everyone. My name is Elayne and I am 65 yrs. young. I live in Fl with my husband, Arjay, and our cat named Max. You can see Max in the bread basket.

I've been with Spark since Aug. of 2006 and have reached goal through Weight Watchers. I'm up a little now and I want to get down to 120. I just bought a whole bunch of clothes that now fit me and I have to make sure I don't gain as I can't replace all my clothes again. I like being in 10 petite slacks. emoticon My highest weight ever was 150 and when I started Spark I was 135. My next goal was 130 then 125. I've been at 125 for years, but I like to be less than that. Today I'm 124.8 Downward to 120 and there I want to stay. I'm only 4'10 so I am vertically challenged.

Looking forward to meeting people in my age group and above! My husband is 75. You'd never know it though. Anyway, nice to meet all of you.

Hi, My name is Holly and I have been at this Spark lifestyle for about a year next month. I still have some weight to lose but the bulk of it is gone. I am 61 years young and feeling younger than ever now that obesity is no longer part of my life. Your site looks like a lot of fun and while my posting will be erratic due to time constraints I will be happy to join in when I can.

I live outside of Boston with my DH and four Siamese cats we have rescued. No kids. I am taking up a second or tenth (depending on who is counting) career change and have reinvented myself many times. We live in a large drafty English colonial home and have lots of hobbies. Eating healthy and natural is on top of my list. The best feather in my cap is I am turning around years of diabetes type 2 through diet and exercise. My best to all and looking forward to being a part of the group. -Holly emoticon

Hi, my name is Lynda. I live in Gainesville, FL with my 13 year old grandson. His 18 year old sister comes and goes. I am 68 years old, work full time at the University of Florida, and, besides my grandson and itinerate granddaughter, have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I am a "used to be" runner, bicyclist and kayaker. Kept them all up until a couple of years ago when I had back surgery. Want very much to get back to them all (well maybe a slow jog) but it is going to take some concentrated effort on my part. Still have my two tandem kayaks parked in my carport.

I joined this group because you sound like an active group. I noticed other groups had very few postings. I need to socialize more, even if it is online. I tend to get buried in work and school (grandson's). This is my 4th time through the 7th grade and I'm not getting any smarter, or younger.

I have recently been diagnosed type-2 diabetic. In a sense, it is good because it has me motivated to get back to my previous life-style--albeit a whole lot slower.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

I am facing severe mobility issues especially the last 2 years. My doc advised that I need to lose at least 15 to 20 kilos to be able to move around independently. As we stand today I can't move without a caregivers help. I try walking with my stick, but I need some one to prop me, especially negotiating a step or getting off my bed or up from a chair. This really frustrates me.
My 92 year old DH of almost 70 years is far more active than I am. I have just started going for walks since last week and need the encouragement to keep it going

My name is Annmarie I'm 67. I've never joined a team this is my first. Nice to have a team for my age group easier to understand each other. I've been a member since 2006. I am a Zumba Gold Instructor and teach 4x a week two of them in a chair for people with disabilities. I love music and dancing. I just finished the book The Shift by Tori Johnson from Good Morning America. I was so inspired that in 2 week I lost 8 lbs. I still want to get down another 10 but I've been trying to do this for 2 years. It's been up and down. I just love sparks I bought the tracker and now I know just how much I burn doing Zumba. Hope to see and meet you on the message board.

Make each day count.

I've been a member of SP for a long, long time. I have not committed to any plan completely in years. Sad to say, it is showing up in a big way. I have lost here and there, but my motivation always disappears. I will be plugging away at this, one day at a time. It's nice to meet all of you on a board like this one. Sounds like fun, being with people in my age group who understand the challenges of our age group.

just for today, I will stay on my plan!!

Hello all! emoticon

I am back on Spark after a 6 month (or so) absence. I slid back and gave up, sorry to say. emoticon emoticon

This looks like a fun and supportive team. I will be there for you if you need as well! emoticon

My weight-bearing joints are taking a beating due to my negligence. I will be 63 soon and this is no way to live.

I''ve been with Sparkpeople since January 2007.. At one point I lost 70 lbs and kept it off for two years, but I gained 13 lbs over the summer. So at this point I'd just like to reach the personal goal I have set for myself by the end of the month. I exercise by doing water aerobics and Curves 5 days a week. I love my new Sparkpeople app on my I-pad mini where I can track my food and exercise easily. emoticon

Hi my name is Kris, I live in MA. I am 61 and I just quit smoking AGAIN!! emoticon I quit for 8 months but gained about 10 lbs. So, I started smoking again, but hated how I felt, so I just quit again. I joined SparkPeople today to see if I can lose some of the weight that I have gained. emoticon

My name is Jean and I am a 67 soon to be 68 years young. Even though I have cancer and maybe I should say because of lung cancer I try to live each day as if happiness consists of living each day as if it were the first day of my honeymoon and the last day of my vacation.

I am from northern WI but by mid August I will be returning to NC to be with my family. I keep my SP page up to date and would love to have you stop by!
