What an awesome group. This is exactly my eating problem. I eat when I'm bored and mostly at night. However, I will also randomly snack when I work from home which is usually only one day a week. However, I work from home tomorrow and Thursday this week, so that's going to be a rough couple of days.

Hello everyone ~ my name is Sue and I've been heavy from age six onward. There were 10 minutes in college when I reached 130 pounds and fit into some (for me) really skinny jeans... then I went to the cafeteria and that 10 minutes was over.

20+ years and 100+ pounds later, I can't believe I'm really here. This is madness! And like everyone here, my biggest problem losing weight seems to be the late afternoon/evening and/or boredom eating pattern. But I have hope, and I am determined! emoticon

Hello everyone. I joined this team because it seems no matter how many good food choices I make durning the day I ALWAYS seem to be starving starting around 10 pm. I 'm kinda shy so I hope this will help me meet some new people who share the same things.

Hi, I'm Sonya and I live in the UK.

I have joined this team as I eat continuously when I am bored, and as I work shifts, that is not confined to evening times.

I am hoping in the long term goal to lose 4 stone / 56 lbs, but a short term goal is 14 lbs / 1 stone for when I attend a family wedding on 9th October.

I have been on Spark since 4th August, and so far it has been good.

Hi, Im Lindy from Alabama. have been on a weight rolled coaster all my life. The after mykid were born I was back on the roller coaster again. When I quit smoking, Ijust started to continously gain. Now that I'm out of work it's starting to get worst because I'm a home all the time and I get bored and eat everything. I've been on sparks for abut month. It's going pretty good.

Good morning,
My name is Sherry. I have been a member of SP for a few years now. I gain and lose the same 10 to 15 lbs over and over. I have a lot more to lose than 15 lbs for sure! I have been battling this weight for quite a few years now. I exercise regularly 4 to 5 days a week. My problem is with the food part of the equation in weight loss. I am tired of making the same mistakes day in and day out!

Hi Y'all,
I am a 46 year old woman. My husband was sick and died last year and I think that I decided that since I had to deal with his problems that I didn't have time to deal with my own. I have always been heavy but gained 30 lbs. I eat when I am bored. I eat to celebrate. I eat when I am sad. What makes it worse is that I am unemployed and my kitchen is so accessible! I ride my bicycle several times a week. But it seems that the only muscle that I am building is in my stomach.

I have two dogs and two cats and love animals.

Hi everyone. My name is CC and I'm a 37-year old mother, military wife, adjunct professor, and counselor. I've used SP now for one week and have lost 5 pounds. It seems that many of the sparkteams are too large and inpersonal. And, well, I'd like to belong to a smaller group like this one. I loved reading the posts and seeing how well you support each other, and it inspires me. I am a nighttime eater and I eat when I am Bored, upset, tired, to treat myself, and especially when I want to avoid doing something (like housework). I love to eat while watching tv, which has become a very bad habit. I am great at giving others advice, but am terrible about taking my own: something I am working on. Right now. I am a 41 year old mother of 4. 2 boys (21 and 18) 2 daughters (17 and 15). I have been up and down with weight since having children. Would just like to learn to live a healthy life year round. If I can figure out a way to enjoy exercise and find a substitute for chips I may achieve it.

Hi there. I have been on spark before. I ended up getting agitated when my progress was not what I wanted it to be, getting bored of the meal plans, and getting overwhelmed with the responsibility I'd put myself in to. So I quit. But now I'm back because I think this site is really good and it has the potential to do a lot for anyone who needs it. So I'm trying again.

I need to lose at least 50 if not 60 lbs. But I'm trying not to think of it that way because that's exactly how I psyched myself out last time.

I'm 24, live with my boyfriend, in Minnesota. I have a very very stressful job, 2 dogs, no kids. That's the rundown I guess.

Hi everyone my name is Carolyn, please call me Care. I have been on SP since Feb 09, and I eat when I am bored, or stressed, and when I do eat I am only looking for carbs, I love bread and butter. I don't really have a problem working out it is the eating that is my problem.
I am not a big poster but will look around and offer up advise when I can.
My goal is to lose 73 more pounds and I am trying to learn to eat better, and portion control.

Hi everyone! My name is Suzanne and I've been on and off Spark for about two years. Whatever success I have, I blow it away...basically by mindless eating. I do well early in the day, but by 3pm it is all downhill. I know I need to get off the extra weight to be healthier. I am 42 and married with two kids-14 and 9. Live in PA and work part-time. Hi Everyone!

My name is Rebecca and most call me Becky, but my dear beloved Dad used to call me "Rebecky" and the "44" part is the year I was born. Now that should be a huge hint on how old I am!!

I live near Lake Oroville in No. California.

This October 1st I will be 65 yrs old. Officially a Senior Citizen! Don't feel much like one in my mind I still feel like I'm 27!

My DH and I have been married for 25 years and successfully joined 2 families together. I had 4 [1 girl+3 boys] and he had 4 [3 girls+1 boy] They have blessed us with 9 grandchildren [7 girls and 2 boys].

I have 50 pounds to lose, although I would like to lose more. I will be happy to lose 50 and see what happens from there.

I was thin all my life and the pounds started creeping on 10-15 years ago. [See my SP Page for more of that story.]

I began losing weight using Atkins and was fairly successful, but felt I needed to concentrate on calories more for a "way of life change."

I joined SP in January 2009 and lost 20 pounds, only to gain some back and lose again. I've begun a roller coaster ride that has worried me and caused me to do some self-evaluation. I have acknowledged a truth about myself that I am an emotional eater. I feel just acknowledging that truth is a step to healing.

I only want to surround myself with positive people. I tend to shut down and walk away with negatives and complaining. I've belonged to several SP Teams only to drop out when there is a lot of complaining and no positive reinforcements going on. [I just wrote about that in this morning's blog.]

OK. So now you know a little about me. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

Hello! I am not new to SP but definetly new to this sparkteam! I have been a member of SP for over a year now and am just now starting to follow a diet/lifestlye change! It took me a while to be mentally ready for such a life altering change. I feel that I am finally ready now though! I think my biggest problem has always been eating when I'm bored or feeling anxious so this is the right team for me! I have 55 more pounds to lose and hope to lose it by next summer!

Hi,...I'm new (obviously) and looking for a buddy in case anyone is interested. Fair warning,...I'm a tad twisted in the humor department, not intentionally, just wired that way I guess.
I have so much weight to lose....and my only downfall seems to be late night eating sprees. I am my own worst enemy between 8 and 11pm.
I like reading. I am married with some kids,...but I am determined not to go on about that,...spark is the only thing I've ever kept for myself.
If anyone has any tips, thoughts, or strategies, I am open to suggestions.

Good Morning. I am a 40 something mom and believe it or not,,,,college student. I graduate in May with my degree in elementary education. I have been a spark member since May. I am so glad to have found this group!! I have struggled for years with evening eating! I do great during the day because I am so busy, then after dinner and the mess is cleaned up and my son is in his room and my husband is in the home office and I am alone in the living room doing homework, I think I have to have a bowl of popcorn or a smore or something while studying! My husband travels alot so on weekends when he is not home, I get bored and eat from the time I get up until the time I go to bed! Working hard to break these habits.

Hello! I am 34 years old and definitely an emotional eater. Late afternoon and night time are my worse enemies! I eat until I can't anymore. Hey everybody. I'm Mina. I'm 49 and have pretty much the same issues you all have with eating after dinner and even that mid afternoon slump. we have a tv in the kitchen and if I sit to watch in there after dinner, I'm a goner. I have to make sure I'm up and out of the room after clean-up so temptation is avoided. Sometimes even that doesn't work because someone will offer me popcorn or ice cream or something in some other part of the house and I always say yes. I come from a long line of yes sayers. The weight is coming off, but super slow.

Hello everyone! I am a 29 year old girl from West Virginia...quite close to Pittsburgh. I defiantly eat out of boredom...or because it is in front of me! A really big problem for me is munching! I sit at a desk for 8 hours a day for my job - we all know how that goes! You need to get away from your desk for a minute - so let's take a trip to the vending machine! I have been trying to get better about it, and I have for the most part. But there are alot of days where I lack the motivation to stop this behavior. I will be turning the big 3-0 in 6 months. I'm new to the boards. Defintely eat when I'm bored (or stressed, happy, sad, lonely, because my hubby is eating ... you name it). Just now trying to learn to tune into my body and listen to it telling me what I need. I used to do that when I was a teenager and young adult, but somewhere along the way we lost communication with each other and I find myself 100 pounds overweight. My name is Leesa and I do great staying on my program during the day & during the week but after work and on the weekends I destroy everything I have worked for all week long. Some nights I just everything in sight an I seem to have the mentality that if no one sees me eat it then it doesn't count which I know is wrong of course. I am looking to find help, support, and new friends...maybe find a spark buddy with the same issue.

Eating because im bored jsut about covers it i do this alot but i hope to stop when i start school in a couple of days i hope to be so busy that i dont have time to be bored. Eating because you are bored!!?? Oh that is sooo me! I have been eating because I was bored since I was a kid! I remember when I was 9 years old, we lived in a motel room/efficiency apartment in Columbus Ohio, for about 6 or so months. We had just moved there, and we hadn't gotten a permanent home yet. Because we were living on a 6 lane busy street, and up over a busy parking lot, I wasn't allowed outside. I had no friends, except the TV. I was sooo bored. I would sneak cookies when my mother wasn't looking for something to entertain me. When we moved back home to Maine, I weighed over 100 pounds! at age 9! My grandmother put me on a diet, no snacks or cookies or nothing between meals - I lost 20 pounds. The combination of the "diet" and being able to play outside with my cousins helped alot! But then I have also been a stay at home Mom, or worked in boring jobs....eating has always been a way for me to deal with boredom. Looking forward to sharing strategies with all of you - to avoid eating through my boredom!

Hi group!

I am a 24 year old recent college graduate. I went through school working and attending classes full time. I am an emotional and stress eater so college put 75 pounds on me. My goal is to just feel healthy and good about my body. I don't have to be a certain weight or size, I just want more energy and to feel better! Hi, my name is Maryam. I'm 28 and have about 40 to lose. I have been exercising regularly for about 6 months but my biggest struggle is eating. I am a stay at home mom with my son Levi who is 15 months. I don't even keep snack food in the house because I can't stay out of it. When my husband gets home in the evening I have the opportunity to leave and get the junk food I've been craving all day. My struggle is to avoid doing that. Hi,my name is Deb. I'm a 55 yr old mother of two and grandmother of 3. I like most of you do well during the day, stay within the program but blow it at dinner or during the evening. That's when I crave, salt or sweets, BIG TIME!!!! I started SP in June of 2008 and lost about 25 lbs. Then I injured my thumb and was having pain in my right knee. Long story short, I had surgery on both my thumb and knee in September of 2008 and fell off program. Gained all but 8 lbs back. Finally, I've gotten back to SP in April and am now down 10 more lbs. I've been doing pretty well, but the evenings are killers. So bad, that I've been saving calories during the day so that I have a few extra for snacks during the evening. If I could just control these cravings, I know my weight loss would increase. So any tips you all have would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to chatting to you all in the coming months.

Hello! I'm so glad I found this group! Eating only when hungry and only until full has been my biggest challenge since reaching my goal weight about 18 months ago. I've continued working out 6 days a week, despite an injury that prevented me from running for 8 months. But overeating from supper on has added back 8 pounds, shame and a sense of failure I don't deserve. I'm ready to fight back and am looking to this group for support. I appreciate the support I've gotten just from reading today's newbie posts. I wish us all well.

Hi. I'm Brandy, I'm a full time single working mom of two. Although, as of last November I had lost my job and I became a full time couch potatoe. I've always had a problem of eating too much at night. But when I lost my job, not only did I eat more cause of stress but also cause there is only some much job search you can do in a day, and then the rest of the day I spent eating. I am 8 pounds away from being the heavist I've ever been, besides when I was pregnant. I am tired of being big, eating all day, and having to buy bigger clothes cause mine dont fit.

Hello my name is Jessie . I'm a 29 year old stay home mother of two boys. Boredom eating is a huge problem for me. I saw some one put that they eat out of avoidance. I thought i was the only one who ate so I'd be busy and not have to do house work. I'm looking forward to making friends here! maybe someone that we can call or IM each other when we are temped.

Hello all! This forum is perfect for me. Boredom eating and binge eating are my worst problems and always go hand in hand. I will eat because I am bored at night usually when it's close to bed time. It is then I will often find myself stuffing my belly long after I am full and destroying all my fitness progress for that day ayiiee!

Hi everyone. My name is Nickie I am 26, have 2 beautiful children both under 2.5yrs and a wonderful fiancée. I am really hoping this team can help me. Eating because I am bored is one of my biggest problems. I work at a hospital as a phlebotomist but work in a offsite location and sometimes I'm not that busy so i find myself pacing cause I am fighting the urge to snack. When I'm at home and there is nothing to do I eat or am thinking about what I could eat. I'm hoping this will help me cause i will have people to talk to that understand how i feel and have pointers of how to stop this behavior.

Hi everyone! My name is Teresa not to be confused with my user name "I need a break too" (anitabreak2). I have two grown sons (both getting married this year), two German Shorthairs and one husband (you thought I'd say two didn't yah). emoticon I get bored during the evenings and find myself filling my face instead of redirecting my energy elsewhere. Learning allot from Spark which has help curb my hand to mouth habit.

Hi, my name is Megan and I am a stay at home mom. I eat primarily out of boredom and avoidance (avoiding house work). I would like to learn new ways to deal with these issues instead of eating. Has anyone made a list of things to do instead of eating when boredom strikes?
