My symptoms before I was diagnosed as hypo were extreme fatigue that eating helped for a short period of time, headaches, night sweats, constipation, bloating, insomnia, dry hair and skin, high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, weight gain. When I started on meds I improved, but periodically my symptoms return, mostly the hunger and fatigue and my blood pressure starts to go up...when this happens and the doctor checks my blood, he raises my dosage cuz my tsh is high again.,

LOL! I'm far from an elite athlete right now...used to be, but that has been awhile. Before my illness, I was swimming 45 minutes a day (nonstop) and cycling 45 minutes a few times a week, too. I felt wonderful!!!!

But, a week before I got sick, I was diagnosed as hypothyroid, so there is that in the equation.

Since posting this, I've not had that sensation either. So, it could have been just like you said, my getting an appetite again.

But, for now, my thyroid levels seem to be steady on the synthroid, and I've been making some changes in my lifestyle. So, hopefully this will all get under control.

I'm tired of living on the sidelines...I'm ready to get into the race!!!!!

What did your Blood work turn out? Was you ever diagnosised with a Thyroid condition? What did you Doctor say? Having a a bout of Hunger may not always be something to do with your Thyroid, since you mentioned that you were sick for a while and you didn't feel like eating during that time, and now that your feeling better, you may just got your appetite back.

So when that happens just go easy on the portions and try to eat healthy foods like Fruits and vegetables to curb any cravings for heavier sweets. (to avoid gaining addtitional weight?) you may also need to have your blood sugar levels checked. sometimes having a ravinous appetite can be more to do with Insulin Resistance or pre diabetic.

The only other reason for feeling that you can not get enough to eat would be that your an elite athlete and trying to train for a sporting event such as a Marathon where your ramping up the mileges and burning more caloires and your body is craving more food to fuel itself????

Sometimes I get like that, but not that bad ! Maybe you could try smaller meals and snacks in between ?

I always tell my girls " It will all work out " and it usually does.

I was only diagnosed back around Halloween, and was deathly ill with something else right after that. Since coming out of my illness over the last 2 months, I've felt like I'm starving. It is such a different feeling than eating out of boredom or emotional eating. I drink a lot of water or unsweetened green teas and a lot of fruits and veggies. But, within an hour after I've eaten, I am literally famished.

I didn't know if it was related to my thyroid or all of the fun antibiotics and pain medications I was on during my illness. Anyone else have this issue? I just had my bloodwork done again a couple of days ago.

I'm tired of living on the sidelines...I'm ready to get into the race!!!!!
