I think it's great to share your reasons for the self-diagnosis with your doctor. I know when I went to an herbal specialist, she put a drop of Iodine (not the disinfectant) on my arm. If it disappeared within 7 hours, I needed Iodine. Mine didn't even last one hour. I felt a lot better while I was using it. I believe minerals take a real hit when we are sick for a long time.

I'd still check with your doc. Check with Susan (HARMONY) on her SparkPage and ask her about this. She is a nurse practioner and is very knowledgeable about these things. IVORY is also very helpful.

Good luck, sweetie,
Renie

Thanx. I'm sure that's good advice. I have not seen a doctor.I'm just self-diagnosed. I hope I'm not doing any harm to myself by taking iodine. Any thoughts?

If you have been prescribed hypothyroid medication by your doc, I wouldn't take any OTC or health food store supplements without checking with your doc first.

Hi - I'm self diagnosed and probably don't know as much as other people on this team. But interestingly today when I went to the health food store to get some iodine, the brand I got Terry Naturally, had an Iodine product with L-Tyrosine. Just reading the label, they said that the combination can be very helpful to help the body's own "feel good" capacity.

I didn't end up buying that bottle. I got Tri-Iodine instead. The lady who works in the store said that if I have hypothyroidism, I should start at the higher dose. So that's what I did.

But in terms of your question, iodine and L-Tyrosine are apparently paired sometimes.

Sorry, Pin Up, That's not one I've tried. You might go to your health store and ask them. Or even go online.

Best of luck,

Has anyone here ever tried to take L-Tyrosine supplements to help boost their thyroid activity? I am curious, as I've heard it works well for some hypothyroid patients.
