I was planning to hunker down and get my act together, but the crocuses bloomed this morning, so I'm getting spring fever something awful.

So, buy a little rototiller and garden for real this year!

1. Get the backyard in shape. It's very sad looking.
2. Spruce up the kitchen. Can't afford a makeover, so just a facelift.
3. Come to the Spark every day. I always feel better when I do.
4. Continue trying new healthy dishes and try to interest the hubbs about it.
5. Keep destressing my life. Already noticing some changes and I'm encouraged.

Wishing everyone the best for the new year!

Goal setting in "public" is a great idea! I will probably be more likely to follow through and be accountable for myself. I think the key for a beginning goal setter to experience success, (like myself) would be to keep it realistic and attainable. Baby steps even. So here is my list:
1. Grow my own kale for juicing, it's gotta be cheaper than what I pay in the store!
2. Get more sleep and spend less time on the net at night.
3. Make it a habit to get to the gym at least 3 times a week but not worrying about WHICH three days!
4. Build a wedding arch or harbor for my wedding in August.
5. Allow myself more time to be creative on my days off and stop being so focused on what I think I SHOULD be doing!
I think this is a good start. Don't want to overwhelm myself!

I don't usually set goals for each new year, maybe that's part of the problem??? So here goes.

1. Follow correct portion size guidelines.
2. Get back into my regular exercise routine.
3. Help the cat to lose 3 lbs so she is less at risk for diabetes & other health issues.
4. Practice being more positive.
5. Fix my garbage disposal!!!
6. Fix up the gardens all around my yard.
7. Stay on top of the weeding in the vegetable garden....hahahahahahaha!

My goals for 2011,
To get to and maintain a more healthy weight.
To cut back on store bought food items and put my canning, baking and preserving skills to good use.
To get a hold of our debt situation and start getting rid of it.
To purge the things we don't use or need that I have been dragging around the country every time my husband is transferred.
To get my house in order to be resold...why did we buy a fixer upper?

Been meaning to do this:
1. Make sure I drink my 8 glasses of water daily.
2. cut down on the amount of coffee I drink.
3. Completely get off the cigarette habit.
4. Increase my intake of fruits.
5. Stay away from any deep fried foods.
6. Save enough money to pay all my bills for at least 2 months, even if this means cutting out some of my entertainment items.
7. Get back to logging my foods in my nutrition area on here - keeps me honest.
8. Do at least 30 min of exercise a day.
9. Make me an even better garden than I had last year.
10. Loose 15 - 20 lbs.
11. Get back into regularly going to church.
12. Get involved in at least one charity activity this year.
13. Do a 5K walk.
14. Hand write some letters to family instead of just sending emails. We have gotten away
from that personal touch it seems now a days.
15. Take at least one online school course to learn something new. Just finished taken beginning web design with Dreamweaver. Passed with a 96% average.
16. Get my web page built!
17. Meet at least 2 Spark buddies in person from my area.

My goals for 2011 - hum I have been wanting to set down and write these out since December, but I have let life happen and not make my goals a priority. So I am going to do it.
1 - get back on track of eating healthier - have been doing pretty good, but have splurged some lately
2 - NO more soda - this one is hard with at home, because the hubby still drinks coke when he gets home from work. It will just take me eating off my rear end and getting my water!
3 - training for a 10K and half marathons - complete 10 - 5K's last year, shooting for at least that many 5K plus 10Ks and a half marathon
(really want to run 13 miles by by 33rd birthday!)
4 - get my kids and hubby more involved with my training and cooking - just fun ways of moving and exercising without them knowing it. LOL - walking trails, having the kids help make healthy suppers.
5 - help motivate people around me. Since I have lost 40 lbs, I have had so many people ask me how I did it. I tell them it was the Couch to 5K that really got me running the way I do, plus getting healthier (which does NOT me deny myself some goodies, but just in moderation). I can't wait for the weather to get a little nicer and I am going to start a walking/jogging group of moms and kids in my neighborhood!
6 - To lose the other 20 lbs so that I will be in a healthy BMI! Notice this is not my first priority, but it is one of my goals.

That feels great to finally write some of my goals down.

I've already lost about 50 lbs. over the past couple years and I still have about another 20-30 lbs. to go. So my main goals are to get rid of the rather huge stomach I've got now, and tone up all the saggy spots.

So far it's only been 1 month since I set my goals and I have reached one already! I took the 28 day challenge, passed it (there's a good reason it's called a challenge, lol!) and I feel and look amazing! Well for having 3 kids and being 30 that is. ;) I am fitting into clothes I haven't been able to wear in about 6 years. I now have fittness and nutrition knowlage that I will use every day, even though the 28 day chalenge is over.

emoticon Good Morning Everyone

My goals for 2011 are many and varied ....

I want to continue on my program and lose 50 pounds by New Year 2012.

My goal for my gardens are to add 6 more raised beds to the vegetable gardens and build covers so they are protected from the heat of the afternoon sun and also from the chill of the Autumn nights.

I want to finish my needlepoint Nativity Scene that I've been working on for years .. sporadically.

We remodeled our kitchen in 2010 and our goal for this year is to redo the frontroom_dining room

I'm sure there are more goals that have slipped my mind but this gives you a general idea.

Hey guys! How's it goin? How are ya'll progressing with your goals for this year?
-My finances are improving, I am much less likely to buy something just because.
-I am living healthier...I still have some issues, but all in all January was a far better month than December.
-My house is still trashed...I will be refocusing some of my energy on that this month.
-This one I am the most proud of "not sweating the small stuff". I have not been perfect, but man have I made strides. I'm so happy about that!

The main goal for this year is a simple one: maintain at least 20 min. of concentrated exercise (not yard work) every single day. Broken into two 10-min. sessions, it can't be that hard! No excuses.

2011 has 3 main goals:
loose 25 pounds
aim for a nice cruise vacation

The goals to conquer in obtaining
start exercising at least 10 hours a week
watch what I am eating
find a compatible job
save money

I started by getting an actual diet plan. I have been exercising at least 30 minutes a day. I have updated my resume.

Live for today, yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is not a promise.

So, how is everyone doing working towards their goals? I'm not doing as well with my house as I would like, but my husband and I did sit down and discuss a plan for paying off some bills. That is a real positive for us and definitely a step in the right direction! I am trying so hard to keep my spending down and so far I've been really good....I'm just hoping that I can keep that up. I am defintely determined! How about you guys?

You know, I hadn't really thought about posting them anywhere to tell you the truth. I suppose I should think about that. I'm always afraid to do that cause I don't want people to think my ideas are stupid and make me feel silly. Plus I tend to guesstimate on the calories and such so it's never super accurate. :) If I posted it I would probably just post a blog I'm guessing.

Oh my....I have lots of things I want to do this year.....primarly, in no particular order.

-Don't sweat the small stuff!
-Refocus on my health...eating healthy and exercising regularly because I deserve it!
-Get back down to my original goal of 139 (which I met in November 2009 but gained back up to 157 throught 2010).
-Be creative with my food, especially my lunch. I'd like to come up with one new 300 calorie lunch idea per month.
-Get my finances under control. I would really like to pay off a bill or two.

I am looking forward to seeing how we all do with our goals this year! Here's to a wonderful 2011!!!

WE ALL ROCK!!!

I BELIEVE IN MYSELF!!!

My goals are to loose about 20 more pounds and to get house renovation at least half way done. I say half way done because my hubby and I are doing most of the work and he had a heartattack back in Dec.and money is another reason.

I lost 154 lbs in 2008 and maintained for 1 year. I regained 60 lbs in 2010. Just very overwhelmed with junk that happens in life and stopped taking care of me. Boy is these a difference in my energy and stamina!
In 2011 my goals are to:

1. Lose the 60lbs that I have regained.
2. Spend special time each month with children, grandchildren and parents.
3. Have one date night a week with my husband.
4. Paydown debt.
5. Grow closer to my Lord.

I just love a fresh new start!

There is only one today. Choose wisley.

Two years ago, I had been with SparkPeople for 4 months and had lost 25 lbs. Then I had reconstructive foot surgery that kept me off my feet for 2 months and out of shoes for at least another 2 months. I didn't lost any ground with that, but a subsequent surgery to remove the screws in my foot cost me another 5 months and that's when all the weight came back and more~

My Spark goals for 2011 are to start over from Stage 1 and:

*Lose the 35 lbs I gained after surgery and be back in ONE-derland!
*Lose another 15 lbs to get my BMI out of the obesity range
*Build my strength and stamina with regular exercise
*Regain my flexibility through stretching
*Take control of and responsibility for my time, my diet, and my fitness.

Other goals:

*learn Spanish
*earn my AA and graduate
*reclaim my flowerbeds and beautify
*plant a vegetable garden
*go hiking with the grandkids this summer

Aside from the usual, lose wieght/save money resolutions I have made, I aim to:

1. Set my darkroom back up (and use it!)
2. Teach my daughter to knit (and finish a project!)
3. build a new bed in the garden for lettuce and herbs only (more salad!)

Happy New Year!!

Sorry, it has been a while.

My family and I just moved into a rental house after the last rental house was full of black mold as a result from the summer rain flooding in the basement (it was a bad year in Saskatchewan for excessive rain, causing floodings in parts of the province as well as less crop farming :( ), so with the house we live in at the moment, our landlord is letting us renovate, save reciepts so we can have almost FREE rent :).

As for the goals of 2011:

-walk more often
-play Wii games more often
-play with the kids more often (as usual :) )
-increase my hobby business as usual so I can still be a SAHM.
-portion our the meals, as well as plan out meals for the family too. Not only to save money, but to be able to have lots of food on stock when the next paycheck arrives.

If I think of anything I would post more LOL

I have a lot of ideas for the year and a lot of things I want to do. Unfortunately, some of it is going to take longer than just 2011. Those things that can be completed this year?

1. 20 pounds by May (minimum!! 20 pounds is actually my BLC goal and that ends March 30). This goal includes everything that is needed to get me there -- eating better, exercising more, etc.

2. Pay down our debt. It will take a couple years to pay it all off because it's spread out from several years of not paying attention... plus the "added" stuff between the rental foreclosure and the new farm we bought this summer. My truck WILL be paid off and we will make a serious dent in my 401K loan and both credit cards (should all be paid by March 2012).

3. Improve the garden. The soil in the garden area needs some serious help. I added a bunch of manure in the fall and am just letting it sit. Will need to add more. I'm also planning to put up at least 1 (maybe 2) 10x21 hoophouses. With food allergies in the family we eat a LOT... no seriously A LOT of certain vegetables like beans, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and squash. I want to be able to make a SERIOUS dent in what we pay for food (roughly $1400/month for 5 people) so I can pay down debt and/or pay for projects.

4. I would love to see our garage to master bedroom/half bath renovations complete this year, but after hubby estimated the costs for me, I don't know if it's going to happen. We have more land we're wanting to buy and have a contract to purchase at the end of 2011. We have some serious hurdles to jump over though and I don't know how that's all going to work. Paying cash for this renovation isn't possible. We do have equity we can use, but not sure how much more that would affect the land purchase. It will get done eventually!

5. Be more patient with the kids, more open with my spouse and more honest with myself. ETA: and a better friend to my friends.

Only 5 Hmmm?
1. Reduce my stress level. It is through the roof!
2. Pay off 3 of the largest debt by the end of the year. That will reduce stress bunches :)
3. Exercise every day even if it only 15 minutes. Another stress reducer.
4. Loose at least 4 pounds per month. Less weight, less stress.
5. Eat within my calorie range including less carbs, more fruit & veggies, more protein.

Just one more please :)

6. Be positive! Find at least one thing every day to make me smile even when I don't feel like it.

Good start! I could go on for days.

Good luck everyone with filling all of your wishes and dreams for 2011!

My goals for the new year:
1) Do some exercise 5-7 days a week, even if it is just 10 minutes of running in place. (I think building up consistency is more important than trying to do a lot in one day and not feeling like there is enough time to do it.)
2) Write something 2-3 times a week, whether in journal or blog.
3) Eat more vegetables! (Since I'm barely eating 1 or 2 servings a day, this should not be so hard.) I need to make sure I have some vegetables in the house so that I don't fall back on easy to eat carbs.
4) Spend more time with my parents. I will plan something at least once a month.

Good luck, everyone, with your goals for 2011.

Milestones

Starting weight: 151 lbs. in September '08

139 lbs: Met 2/3/09

I have a huge list of house-related goals for this year (and beyond), but the more do-able ones would be:
: clean up and organize the gift wrap/craft/sewing/yarn stash room we joking call the guest room,
: move my daughter's unused dresser out of her room into the above room and assemble the Ikea desk she's been waiting for,
: strip the paint off the bathtub that's been sitting upside down in the back hall for 5 years,
: repaint the tub and get started on the rest of this bath reno that's been waiting to happen since forever,
: restore, rewire and rehang the silver chandelier (bathroom) and copper (kitchen) ceiling fixtures that have also been on hold forever,
: etc., etc., etc.

You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

My goals for this year is to loss the last 15 lbs and keep it off this year.

Do more exercise. I have changed my Medicare supplement the new one has silver sneakers so I can go to Curves and it won’t cost me. So I want to do that 3 times a week. With a limited income I haven’t been able to afford a Gym.

Eat more healthy more vegetables and fruits. I already eat allot but could eat more.

Drink more water I have never been a water drinker. I drink allot of tea.

Hopefully this year won’t be so hot so I can work in the yard more. Last year was just to hot couldn’t do it. I want to plant a bigger vegetable garden this year.

There are a few things I want to do around the house the first will be to paint my back hall.

We bought a fixer-upper a few years ago with the goal of transforming it into a "green" home. Neither my husband nor I are "handy", so we started with the basics: painted the rooms with no-VOC paint, upgraded bulbs to CFL's, added a rain barrel, etc.

This year I would like to tear down the decrepit stables in the backyard. I can't afford to pay someone to demolish it and haul it away, so I will try to attack a small piece of it every month.

I also have several myoporum trees that have been infested by thrips and need to be removed. We have already cut down a few, but there are many more to go. Then we will have to do something about the stumps...

This year, I hope to add more native and edible plants to our landscaping. I plan to plant manzanita along the horse trail and citrus along the street. I would also like to start an organic garden in the backyard, but I would need to design an inexpensive way to keep the peacocks and other wildlife out...

On the inside of the house, we are going to try to tile the master bathroom. I figure no matter how bad we do, it can't look much worse than the old carpet that is still in there from when we bought the house!

Long-term, there are too many goals to list! Some of my "dream" projects include adding a graywater system, a solar water-heating project I found on Build It Solar, convert the old swimming pool into a rainwater cistern....

Wishing everyone the best for all your projects!
Happy New Year!

Continue with my streak of completing the Spark 28 Day Boot Camp Challenge, and My personal training sessions of the Spark to 5k. My home goals are by Thursday have my room re-arraigned so I have more room to work out....and I would like to start a home garden. Problem is we have many birds, and other small animals that are accustomed to my uncle throwing food out for them to eat.

These might seem like silly goals, but my graduate program is going to be in Master of Divinity.. So I can work in Prison Ministry. I am in the Forensic Psychology program right now, and I am running 2 Christian Groups and 2 Recovery Groups right now, and I am truly wanting to do Prison Ministry.

Love your "one home project, no matter how small." My goals for this year? Here are two big ones, and two short term ones:
(1) tear off the rotten roof of the outbuilding and turn it into a greenhouse
(2) finish replacing the front grasslawn with bulb flowers and edibles (I love watching people walk by staring at my strawberry plants...)
(3) replace the torn flapper in the downstairs toilet
(4) fix the window busted out of the front door

Top Five Goals 2011:

5) Drink more water. Only 1 soda a day
4) Eat more fruits/veggies. Especially in the morning.
3) Spend more time posting on Spark.
2) Go to the gym or walk in the park a minimum of three times a week, no matter how busy I get.
1) Pick one home project a week, no matter how small, and just do it.
