I'm looking forward to next year, too. I will get to see my son and son-in-law after nearly 4 years. Hopefully my sister's health improves (not holding my breath, tho') and I am better able to afford things (increase in my Benefit having gone from Invalid's to Superannuation which everyone 65 or over gets.)

I am hoping for a better year nationally and definitely internationally with all re much less strife/conflict/divisiveness, that has gone on, and including the massive fires in Australia.

Still, all we can do is hope.

Can you believe we are so close to a new year. Time has really flew by for me. I hope you have had a great year
Met goals or at least worked on them. For me medically I had a rough year, but really feel like I have done what I was able too. I have really slipped in some areas but in others I am making improvements. I am looking forward to 2020!!

I'm doing well. I only occasionally have occasional bouts of back pain now and that is mostly when I have been doing something I shouldn't have been doing. The other occasional times are weather related.

I've had more asthma this last couple months. (Normally it is very well controlled.) The pollen and wind around doesn't help.

How is everyone doing physically? I know this has been a very rough 6 months for me. Endurance is down, strength is down and my COPD has been worse with the winter humidity. Dr. told me my congested heart failure has gotten worse. Meds have been increased. But after my brief fall into the dungeon of despair I have improved emotionally. I am determined to get stronger and improve my stamina. But it will be a very slow progress.
We are getting close to the close of this year and looking at a new year. I hope everyone is reaching goals or at least maintaining your health. You know we are fighters and will never quit.

I'm glad that you got your car sorted. It's a bit of a worry when things start to go wrong with them.

I got two of the bedrooms tidied up today. I've only got two more plus the lounge and dining room to tackle. There were/are a MAJOR! I'll be pleased when they are done.

My followup appointment with the breast surgeon arrived yesterday. It's 18th December so not too far away.

Yes it is nicer. It is larger but I got it on sale so was a good buy. Car is finally out of shop. So glad. Had to get the new battery and then the oil pan. The oil pain had 2 cracks in it.

It's great that everything has come together well. Is the new microwaver a nicer one than the older one?

We had quite a bit of very heavy rain today. It was much needed. It started off with 2 big claps of thunder. There was very little wind so the rain was virtually straight down. It lasted for a few hours.

Tomorrow I go down to the Hospital for my Breast MRI. It's a 2:30 p.m. appointment, so it means that I will be getting out in Auckland's peak traffic, which starts around 2:30 re school out at 3. My sister had her MRI done on her toe today at the same hospital LOL!

Tree down and microwave in and works great Got a great buy too. My car is out of shop and running great. Oil pan had 2 cracks and had to be replaced. Expensive but could have been much worse. No complaints.

Shame about the tree, but better safe than sorry!

Sorry to hear about the microwave. My son-in-law got me mine from a former boss. It was an old one but had hardly ever been used. The other one needed replacing. I've only ever had the two.

TJ came to visit again with his Mum and Dad. He is a really lovely little kid, and has real cute dimples when he smiles, which is most of the time :-)

It was reasonable warm here today - about 22C (71.5F) but a lot of places got into the low 30's, with one reaching 34.5C (94F) Those temps are about a month early.

I got my appointment for my breast MRI - it's 12th November, so not too far away.

I was just wondering if you were getting summer temps yet, and then I read your comment tonight. We are at 48 right now, warmest we have been all week. It was really nice out. I am feeling better. We got a big dead tree removed at my sister's. (over 50 feet high) it was rotten and leaning. Afraid it would fall and hit the house or her propane tank. Hated to cut it but it was hit by lightening this spring and split down the middle. So sad. I love big old oaks.
Then last night my microwave died. It was old. Time for a new one. But I am not really stressing about things too much which is good for me.

Our temps have been definitely warming up. the last few days I have been barefooted inside, most of the day, and I have gone to a sleeveless Spencer rather than a long-sleeved one :-)

It was a little warmer today than yesterday, but still just standard spring. Yesterday we had really powerful wind that drove the rain sideways.

I had to take Spotty (my 19yr old cat) to the vet today. Her back right leg couldn't take her weight and she kept falling onto her right side. Her front right foot wasn't working too well, either. Her foot would flip upside down and drag along the ground before she was able to straighten it. It appears that she has had a stroke. The Vet gave her a powerful jab and then in 3 days time I start her on the tablet form of it. It is like prednisone but a lot stronger and with less side-effects. Hopefully it does the trick. She managed to get herself to her kitty litter and to her water bowl, so that is good. To see her mobilize it reminded me of little Maggie in the Simpsons 'step/fall step/fall'

It was nice today. I thought it was going to be rather chilly re going out, but when I put my jumper on I soon had to take it off and put another on that doesn't go so high up the neck.

Spring here. It's been getting warmer. Yesterday was a cracker and I managed to get 3 full loads of laundry dried (some of Mum's) Today it was very squally weather, but it was quite warm. The last couple nights have haven't warn my polar fleece nightie, but replaced it with a thiner jersey material, long-sleeved one. It made quite a difference.

Here we are, weather a changing. Kris I guess you are in winter now as we are slowly getting into fall weather. Still having temps in the 80's here during the day. Much cooler in the evening. We should be moving more now with cooler temps but my body says NO! I am really trying to watch what I eat. So hard for me but I can and will. We just do what we can do.

Thank you, but in reality, I am just a realist, and don't bother wasting emotions on things I can't control :-)

Yesterday I picked my daughter, son-in-law and younger g/son up and went to my older grandson's for my great-grandson's 2nd birthday. He was so excited about all his pressies and played with them all, including going back to them after and playing with them again .... and again. My daughter has been teaching him Makaton sign language. It is a very basic form of sign language that is used where she works (for severely disabled.) He used a couple of the words yesterday.

Thanks, but no need to apologize emoticon

The surgeon is referring me for an MRI ... not because HE is worried, but to rule various possibilities out. I'm not worried. Whatever it is, worry isn't going to alter the outcome, but worry COULD affect my mental health unnecessarily. He said that it could be about 3 months before I get it done.

We had a patch where we had some stunning thunder/lightening and sudden drops in temperature. One night I got woken at 3a.m. by an extremely bright flash. It was very closely followed by a very loud ongoing boom of thunder. It was like this for quite some time. I went to sleep a while later with it still going on. It was very spectacular. Auckland saw over 1300 strikes of lightening in one hour. A couple days later we had a repeat but not so bad, and it was in the middle of the day. The lightening even lit up the inside of the house LOL!

On Wednesday I have to go down to the Hospital to see a surgeon re my breast issue. My GP thinks it is more than likely to do with my age because she said women who have gone through menopause generally have fat depletion on the breast because of the reduction in estrogen and that can cause big indentations. I hope that she is right! Still, I guess I will find out.

Last night I used my big heater for the first time since I had my HRV installed a month ago. It sure has made quite a difference - especially in the mornings, and especially when you consider that it was the middle of Winter. Well, as of a couple days ago, it is now officially Spring LOL!

We've had a few weather warnings the last 2-3 days and one came through about an hour ago, but fortunately for my area, it seems to be skipping past us.

I really feel for those in the Bahamas. It must have been so very scary for them.

I guess the report was o.k. I got a message that there was a new entry on ManageMyHealth and when I went into it the Dr had recorded for a recall in 2 years which is the standard time-frame here.

Understandable that you went to sleep. It was great that you were able to catch up with your friends.

Hope the final reports from mammogram is good. Always scary. I was gone all day yesterday to a VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) District meeting. It was good to visit with the Veterans and my Auxiliary sisters. I had not been in over a year because of my back and the resulting mobility problems. I was really tired when I got home. By the time I got my fur babies taken care of and went to my sister's to take care of her fur babies I was TIRED. Had a light dinner and sat down to relax and poof I was asleep. Did not sign in yesterday. But all is good.

Yesterday I had to go down to the Hospital for a Mammogram and Ultrasound. I found an indentation in my breast while scratching at an itch so the Dr referred me. The Radiologist said that there doesn't appear to be anything to worry about. Nothing showed on the Mammogram, but he said he could feel the indentation through the transducer but it appeared it COULD be related to a breast lump I had removed 20 years ago. Only thing is, it isn't really where the lump had been. As per usual, my GP will get a report so I guess I will get a copy when I see her.

Had a good weekend. We stayed home mostly trying to stay out of the heat and humidity.

Kris, I know you are in your fall/winter season but it is hot here. Going to be 95 degrees with heat index of 104 degrees, and 86% humidity. Just a hot summer day. Those of us here have to stay in under A/C and drink lots of water. The humidity and heat really bothers by breathing. You have to stay warm and safe. Hope all have a great weekend.

I do enjoy a good thunderstorm. The last one we had was the day of my Mum's funeral. There was a lot of lightening too. As it was also my late hubby's birthday that day, I figured they were having a fantastic party that I hadn't been invited to.

It was quite nippy again this a.m. but it warmed up as the day wore on. My younger g/son and I went on a bus excursion. We haven't long had buses to our area. It was a way to

a) go up to see G/son's partner and toddler (who unfortunately was asleep the entire time so we didn't see my great-grandson) and

b) get my g/son out for the day rather than spend the entire holidays doing nothing.

At least I can put more clothes on - you can only take so many off LOL!

You must be in your winter season. I guess it makes sense. I know we complain in the winter when it is so cold and then in the summer when it is too hot. Could be like it was in our parents day. I know had it a lot harder. As long as we can stay warm or cool we should be glad. It could be worse. Kris you try to stay warm and I will try to stay cool.

It's been cold here. A couple mornings the house has been around 50F when I've gotten up. I only have an oil column heater and if it is really freezing, a convection heater to turn on as well. Sometimes I've been running the clothes drier empty to circulate warm air.

Yes we get thunderstorms, hi winds, lightning and hail. As long as I don't have to drive in it I love storms. Never thought of bubble wrap for insulation. But it would work. Good idea. Glad you and your sister-in-law were able to get out and enjoy some time together.

I hate the humidity of our summers. It gets very high, and is like it a lot of the summer - particularly toward the end.

Did you get the thunderstorms? I love them.

My sister-in-law shouted me morning tea this a.m. It was lovely. We went to a little barn cafe just down the road. I went and got my groceries after lunch. While I was in town I got some more bubble wrap. When I went into the dining room this a.m. the weepage from the south-facing window was really bad. It is now bubble wrapped up so that won't be happening any more this winter, and it will help keep the house warmer inside (11C / 51.8F in the dining room when I came out this a.m.) and won't take as much power to heat the house up.

It is summertime in Texas. It is 89 degrees with heat index of 94 at 2PM. Cloudy and expecting thunderstorms later today. Humidity is hi. Hampers my breathing and seems like my joints are aching more. Trying to stay hydrated. Not complaining I have seen it a lot hotter and know it is coming. I just try to get up and move about house ever 15-20 minutes. Helps my joints and I get steps in. Hope everyone is staying cool and hydrated.

My brother's heart cath went well. He is home resting. He will get results when he sees his cardiologist in 10 days. They did not do the stint. Thank goodness. I got extra steps in. Nice day today. Pretty warm.

Hmmmm - sounds like your brother's so-called grown children need a reality check!! It's great that he is very supportive of them, but not so great that they seem to take advantage of his good nature. Still, he has to sort it out himself, and others can only support him.

Hope all goes well for your brother-in-law's wife's treadmill test on Monday. I agree bad time to ne traveling. I think my brother is genuinely worried. At his age and heart history add all the stress in his home situation. It is very believable. His 2 grown children have always been very dependent on him. They move I n and out frequently, he is called on to pay bills, fix/buy cars, get spouses out of jail and take care of the grandchildren daily. That is just a scratch of it. I love him. I am always there to support and help him just as he is to me. We are very close but some things I never tell him. It is his life, his family.

I wonder if your brother is verbalizing he is worried about this one, whereas the others he thought it, but didn't say it OR that he now acknowledges that he is getting older. I hope it goes well.

I had an unexpected call this a.m. from my brother-in-law (Late Hubby's brother) - his wife had gone to the Dr yesterday just for repeat script, but while there had an angina attack/mild heart attack. She ended up going to hospital in the ambulance. My b-in-law phoned to see if I could go down with him to either picker her up, or take her stuff down to her. He is quite disabled and isn't able to walk very far, or up-hill, and certainly not while carrying/pulling/pushing anything. He uses 2 walking sticks. I went down with him and we brought her back. Fortunately I was able to show him where to park so there was NO walking involved for him, and his wife was right there waiting. She has to go back down and be there by 8a.m. on Monday for a Treadmill test. Not the best time to have to travel when you live over an hour away at uncluttered travel time. This will be peak-hour travel.

Seems like the weeks are flying. I feel good, don't feel old except when my pain gets too much. But days like today make me feel my age more. My brother is 76 and has heart disease. He is scheduled for another heart cath next week with possible 3 heart stint placement. He told me his worried about this one. He has never said this before. He is under alot of stress at home. I wish I could make it go away. All I can do is be there for him.

Yep - I've noticed time seems to be speeding up as I get older. In the blink of an eye I will be very old myself.

I cooked my first meal tonight, but I don't cook every night anyway. I ate very healthy for all my meals still, and still have a lot in the freezer - I would be able to go another month without having to cook, but I like having a good variety on hand. I mean, you never know what is around the corner. I don't eat much processed stuff so don't have to worry too much about that. On the other plus side, my grocery bill the last 2 weeks has been halved.

My sister is having her wrist op in 3 days. She is very worried because she uses a walker or crutches (the latter really hurts her shoulder). Then she is due her hip operation. Her Dr has indicated that it is possible that she may need to go into a Rest Home for 3-4 days at least, after. She isn't worried about that.

Already 8 days into June can you believe it? Time flies especially as you get older. I have been feeling better since I am eating better. Really keeping an eye on processed foods and carbs. They seem to go hand in hand. My breathing is better on the days when the humidity is a little lower. No rain today and only a few showers yesterday. My knee still locks up if I don't move it pretty often. Keeps me from sitting too long HaHa!! The more I move the better I feel. I was really confident and getting around well before I fell the last time. That has made me fearful about getting out and walking much. I am slowly regaining my confidence. One day at a time is the way to go. Just do a little more everyday.

Yes, I'm taking care of myself. It's particularly times like these that I am really pleased that I have always prepared for days when you don't get time to do things. I had a full and healthy meal in my freezer ready for me to heat for me tonight. I have a lot more in there, too, and I'm not one for fall off the wagon at these times.

I spent most of the day at the Undertakers, and have to be in there about 9:30a.m. tomorrow, too - probably for quite a while.

Mum peacefully passed away last night at 10:03p.m. I was by her side from 7a.m. I went into the Hospital today to collect her belongings. I will have loads of really neat memories to take with me the rest of my life, but it won't be the same as her being here with me to share them.

Mum has found it very difficult to take anything by mouth. She keeps pushing the meds away. She hasn't been able to swallow a tablet for a few days so had been getting injections, then they put a luer in but in her agitated state she pulled it out. This a/noon the RN's put in a pain pump for her pain relief as well as meds to settle her, so hopefully it stays in. I was with her for 5 hours today. She was peacefully asleep from 1145hrs to about 1400hrs. When she woke (briefly) at one stage she looked at me with a blank look then all of a sudden you could see the recognition come on her face and she gave the loveliest smile and told me I was wonderful. I felt really chuffed because most the time you can't understand what she is trying to say. I'm going back in to her tomorrow if she is still with us. One of her grandsons came in to see her this a.m. prior to my arriving.

Kris I am glad your mom was awake more when you went to see here. Those are precious memories. Do they have liquid pain meds where you are? Some come in very small doses. They can be given subligual or buccal. They are rapidly. Might ask your Dr. about it. Might help if it is available. We had my mom and dad on it and it helped them. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you. I went in to see her again today. She was awake a fair bit of the time, and I am sure that she recognized me and my daughter and 12yr old grandson. She was looking at him for a while in a semi-sitting position leaned over to me for a cuddle a few times. She tried talking but none of us (RN and my daughter and I) could quite understand what she was trying to say, but she was able to communicate that she didn't want the clonazepam, which was in liquid form to be swallowed. She kept pushing it away. Because she was getting a bit agitated the nurse gave it to her via injection. Mum pulled the luer for the pain relief out. When I go in tomorrow, IF Mum is still with us, we will be talking about using a pain pump, but that runs the risk of being pulled out, too.

I know this is a hard time. I felt so helpless when my mom was just there in the bed. Sometimes she would open her eyes and smile. Just hard. I am praying for you and your family. I think it is good that they all came to see your mom. It will help them and comfort your mom if she rouses up to have them there. Never really know what they are cognizant of. Hopefully they are there for her not each other. I hope she is not in pain. If she is they should give her some medication for it. Went to a short Memorial Day program today. I was very tired when I got home.

It's nice that you put flags on your Dad's and husband's graves.

My sister went home today. I took her into the Hospital to see Mum and her daughter came up to get her, and bring our sister-in-law up to see Mum as well. Mum was asleep most of the time I was there - about 2 hours and when she was awake she wasn't really able to communicate except to tell the Nurse that her touching Mum hurt, and later that she new we were there, but didn't know who was who. One of my brothers came today too, so it was kind of a bit awkward in that his current partner and his ex wife were both in the same room.

Feeling better finally. Think UTI is clearing up. Back is still sore. Got out with my sister today. Went to bank and got oil changed. Nice blue skies and warm weather. Memorial day weekend is here. Normally I would be busy with Buddy Poppy drives, putting flags out and attending Memorial Day programs in our community. But this year all I will manage is a Flag on my dad's and husband's grave. Planning on going to one Memorial service. Just can't stand or walk more than that. Maybe next year I will be stronger.

I went to the Dr on Friday, and yesterday (Monday) I got a letter from the hospital saying that I would be seen for ultrasound/mammogram in 2-12 weeks.

I got called in to Mum yesterday. Mum thought she was going to die, but the RN's felt she was a bit away from that yet. She hasn't eaten for a few days and prior to that was eating very little. In 2 months has lost over 5kg. Mum had been in a lot of pain and had been very nauseous, so rather than keep giving my an injection for them, set a needle up so now she doesn't have to keep getting jabbed. She was not good at all yesterday. My niece brought my sister up, and she is staying with me for a few days. We went in to see Mum again today, and she was a lot better, however she was asleep most of the time. She would wake up for 2-3 minutes then drop off again. At least the pain and nausea wasn't there and she was cognitive of what was going on and communicating verbally, altho' very faintly. It is just a matter of time now.

The cantaloupe and watermelon sound absolutely divine. Make sure that you eat some for me :-) I hope that your pain(?UTI) is sorted. It sounds like you and my sister could be twins. She can barely walk. The OT has given her a walker which is much easier for her hands to manage than the standard walkers and she also gave her a set of crutches, again with the hand part different to the standard one so that she can use them without putting much pressure on her hands. She's waiting for a Hip Replacement. There is no cartilage at all in the hip, and she is also waiting for wrist surgery and her shoulder to get fixed again. She is in heaps of pain so is very much hoping that she doesn't have to wait the 4 months they said she could be waiting.

Rough day today. No way to start the weak. Woke up with bilateral flank and lower abdomen pain. Figure I have a UTI. Started really pushing the cranberry juice and water. Also taking AZO. If not better tomorrow or Wednesday I will call my Nurse. May need some antibiotics. Hate them, always give me yeast problems. Right now can hardly stand or walk. So my steps are way down. Eating down, just not very hungry. Heating pad is not working! Last time I used it, worked fine. So I guess I will have to get another one. Positive for the day, my
friend brought me a fresh cantaloupe and watermelon. Will be enjoyed.

So sorry about your mom. Sounds like she is weakening. All I can do is send hugs your way. Glad your sister is happy with her walker but sorry about her needing a hip replacement. Hopefully she won't have 3-4 months for it. I hope your breast exam with the specialist is OK. But prayers sent for good results. I get very frustrated with front office people at the DR's office. Seems like they just don't listen or care. I have been known to get a little fussy and loud myself. But you know it is their job to listen to us. I am OK. Waiting for breathing tests next month. Need to stop eating all the time. I know it doesn't help any of my problems.

My sister's walker arrived today. She is stoked. She was warned a fair while ago by a couple different Specialists to not have physical therapy because of the variety of issues she has including a spinal fusion in the past. She did go to a class that was recommended by her Dr a few years ago, but the Hospital Physiotherapist was not impressed when she found that my sister was given various exercises to do that made her problem a lot worse. That physiotherapist made the comment that she wasn't a contender for it, and the Specialists commented later. She went to the Orthopedic Specialist the other day. He was stunned. In three months her last X-ray which revealed virtually no problem, she now has absolutely no cartilage in her hip and has been put on the urgent list for a Hip Replacement. The urgent list is a 3-4 month waiting list.

Mum's condition has worsened again. When I went in yesterday she was away with the fairies, much like she gets when she was a UTI. She had been talking with her mother the day before .... remember, Mum is 97! When I got there she was mumbling something, then turned and looked out the window, leaned forward and yelled KRISTINE. I gently told her I was there. She turned and looked at me goes' "oh" then leans forward to the window again and yells LESLEY (my sister.) Then she was picking stuff off her trou ... without touching her trou and there was nothing there that *I* could see (if you know what I mean) and then leaned forward and with a lovely smile of her face, starting patting .... I assume the little shi tzu pup there, only thing is, there was nothing there for her to pat. The RN's came out to talk to me about her and are really concerned about her lack of eating affecting her faculties etc. I just said that I would assume it is a case of her body having had enough and it is slowly shutting down, and that it is what it is.

I watched the very final of Big Bang Theory tonight. It's sad that it has finished. I think they ended it well.

High humidity doesn't affect my breathing, but the cold air does, as does pollen. The pine pollen is one of the worst things for me, and there is a very big pine forest very close to me - about 1k in a straight line.

I had to go to the Dr today for my scripts. The Receptionist I made the appointment with made it for the wrong satellite medical centre. I had specifically phoned the one I wanted to go to, and when the appointment was made I specifically asked that it was in the little town I was wanting and she said 'yes' - well she stuffed up big time and I was NOT impressed. I kinda lost my cookies a bit. The Receptionist on duty said that it was a human error and anyone can make them. I told her it is was NOT a good enough excuse that when a patient specifically mentioned which one they are wanting the appointment with and then asks for confirmation that the appointment was made for the right one, AND the Receptionist NAMES the clinic asked for, the 'error' is totally unforgivable. Fortunately there was a Dr there who was able to see me which was a miracle because I would otherwise have had to wait for 3 hrs for an appointment. He is sending away a referral to a Breast Surgeon because my nipple has been getting very itchy the last couple weeks and on palpation there is a noticeable indentation beneath.

Glad your labs were good. Love the pictures of you and your mom. She is beautiful. I totally understand about the protein drinks. some people don't like them. My dad was a good eater when he was younger but as he got older his likes and dislikes really changed. It is a struggle sometimes. You do what you can I Know.
Hope your sister can get a walker and then help using it. Sounds like occupational and physical therapy would really help. Maybe the orthopedic Dr. will order it for her.
My Sats have been better most of the time. Not perfect but better. I did talk to the Dr., he was concerned I think. He has ordered a new run of tests on my respiratory status. The hi humidity and warmer temps and pollen have really bothered my breathing. But I am OK right now. Will see what the day brings.

I got the TSH results this a/noon. They are now in the perfectly normal range, and there is a notation on the lab results saying "consistent with adequate therapy, suggest repeat in 1 year or as clinically indicated."

O2 Sats running at 92-93% is fairly low. If it has been ongoing, perhaps it IS a reason why you have been so tired. I guess finding our WHY they are so low and overcoming it is the next step.

Below are the 2 photos I took of Mum/I yesterday. The first one she was trying to figure out who was looking at us from my phone

and this photo she had just realized it was US looking back LOL

Mum won't eat/drink protein drinks. It isn't a 'swallowing' type thing per se, but just food/drinks in and of themselves make her feel nauseous. Mum has always had an issue with food including refusing to eat if she thought someone was watching. She has a form of Disordered Eating, but not in the usual way like anorexics, bulimics or binge eaters.

I had a nice peaceful day today. Pretty much all I did was the laundry and making a big Chicken Meat Loaf, some of which I had for diner and was/is yummy. I put parsley, rosemary, garlic, grated carrot and lemon pepper in it.

My sister phoned me last night. Her Dr has told her she needs a walker. When I tried to tell her that a couple months ago she snapped my head off and told me she wouldn't be able to use it because of her hands, bla bla bla. I told her that there were more types of walkers out there than she was aware of and I KNEW that they had some that would be easier for her to handle. She told her Dr the same thing but the Dr came back with exactly the same as I told her. She has put in a referral for her to get one. She can barely walk because of her feet and hips and back, and knee, but her wrists are playing up. One she has carpal tunnel and the other wrist was operated on for it, plus the same arm/elbow for a problem PLUS that same side shoulder she totally smashed and ended up with a reversed Shoulder Replacement. All of them give her Gyp too. She hasn't been able to sleep in her bed for a couple months because
a) She can't get into it, as in can't lift her leg up, and,
b) It is very uncomfortable for her.

Instead she is sleeping in her recliner chair, but 'sleeping' doesn't occur much because her pain keeps her awake.

I only hope that when she goes to her Orthopedic appointment next week, that they can get the ball rolling to improve whatever is wrong.

Sounds like your sleep studies were much better. Great. They have tested my thyroid levels several time always within normal range. I was on thyroid for several years in my early 20's. But always normal now. I am doing pretty good. Balance is still off a little. I am nervous when walking outside. Afraid I will fall again. I have really been struggling with being Short of breath lately. Noticed my O2 sats were a little low for me. Mine usually run 95-97% on room air. Today they were 92-93% several times. Maybe that is why I have been so tired lately. I see my Dr. next week I will see what he says.

Glad you mom was brighter today. Always a good feeling for you to see her that way. I totally understand about the loss of appetite. My mom and dad both got like that near the end.
Will she take the protein drinks? you can add some thickener to help her not to choke.
It is always hard to get nutrition in. They just lose the desire to eat. My dad always it just doesn't taste good.

You were really lucky with the driving license eye test. But I don't think they are as tough on them as they used to be. Glad you passed though. Makes you wonder about the testers though. Maybe they know we can see well enough to drive even if we can't always pass their test.

The Physiologist told me that she downloaded over 500 day's worth of data and I had had 100% compliance re using it :-) - There was actually ONE night I never used it because the power was off LOL! I have only been having on average 2.1 apnea episodes per hr so everything is fine, there. She has discharged me now, but not that I will need another referral to get back. Just that if I feel I need an appointment just phone them or phone them if I have any questions.

I managed to pass the visual for my driver's license, but I really shouldn't have been passed. She told me to read out the 4th line on each column. I struggled but finally managed column 1 and column 2 and stood there quite happy. She then told me to read out column 3. I looked at her; looked into the machine; looked back at her then shifted my head and FINALLY SAW column 3, but it was very blurry, which I mentioned. She said do the best I could, so once again, I did it with an even bigger struggle. THEN she said "That's fine, now we will do your peripheral vision. I had to tell her left or right for the little flashing lights. I found that very hard, too. In the end she kindof hinted .... "If you wipe your hair out of your eyes" as she brushes aside on herself to the left. My hair doesn't reach my eyes but I'm not stupid .... I said "left". This happened a few times. Then it was off to sign the machine. I stood there looking like a right dummy looking for the pen to sign it. Nothing was there. THEN she reaches over and removes it from the machine. The fact that there was a curly lead attached to it should have given the show away as to where it was, but in my defense, it WAS black on black emoticon emoticon .

I called in to see Mum. She had been shifted to another room. It is a warmer room that actually gets son, has windows on 2 sides and is a bit quieter. More importantly for the staff, it is slightly bigger so they have more room to move when working with her. She didn't need the ensuite in the other room because she was unable to get to the loo in there, so another patient is in there - one who can make better use of it. They have given Mum a nice, comfy lazyboy so she can now have her feet up more often. The Nurse/Manager said that because she is able to sit up more, she isn't falling asleep so much so is sleeping better at night. Mum's eating is quite a worry. An RN noticed today that she started to gag when she was trying to eat some chicken. I told the RN that she has been like that for a while and I noticed on Tuesday she was even like that with her drink. They are going to ask the Dr about a regular antisemitic. She has lost 5kg since she was admitted there - 22nd March. I asked if they new if the Pharmacy sold Fortified Jelly and Juice because that would be a way to get some essential nutrients into her. The RN/Manager said she could make the jelly up for her, and would see if she could get some Fortified Strawberry Icecream (can't get it in vanilla for some reason). Can only give it a go, but she IS 97 and it is common for them to gradually stop eating before they go. It is what it is!

I saw her today, too. She was quite bright surprised to see me. She thought that because I went in on Tuesday, I wouldn't be going today.

I got my bloods done today, too, to check my thyroid function. My results a few months ago came back borderline, which isn't a worry in itself, but my body was starting to show signs of hypothyroidism so my GP put my on Levothyroxine 3 months ago, and I have to go back next week.

How are you doing?

Tomorrow I am off to the hospital to the Respiratory Clinic for them to check the results from my CPAP machine and see if it needs adjusting. I HATE going down there. The driving is well out of my comfort zone. On the way back I have to call into another town to renew my driver's license. It isn't done where I live. I will see Mum on the way back.
