Since you asked for *one* thing I liked..it would have to be living not only in Ohio, but on the borders of Indiana and Kentucky.

If Ohio doesnt have what you are looking for - then Indiana or Kentucky might! ;)

I love how everyone mentions parks and museums... doesnt anyone hit the gambling boats in Indiana or the Speedway in Ky? LOL!

The Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) in addition to the Hamilton County Parks Service is a nice frugal way to add activities to your life, and in your neighborhood. Again, one small membership fee and you are set for the year.

If you need someone to explore with, feel free to ask, I have lived here most of my life and still haven't seen / done all that I should have.

Hamilton County park are the best. Clean, lots of walking trails and things to do. The small price of the annual pass, $5/yr, cant be beat!!!!

I've lived in Cincinnati for about nine years now and I still have yet to learn to like the chili. emoticon

I'm still learning new things about the area but I love any of the parks that give you views of the city such as Mt. Echo in Price Hill and Devou Park which technically is in Covington but has one of the best views of the city.

If I go running outdoors, I usually go to VOA in West Chester because that's where I live or parks in the Loveland area since I work in Loveland. The best part of living in the greater Cincinnati area is downtown though. You can always get on downtowncincinnati.com and find out what's going.

I love most things about Cincinnati. I especially love where I live, as I live across from the river and a park. The park has a walking trail on it/lots of room to walk/jog, etc. There is also a playground for kids I play on with my cousins.

The people and the vibe here, for the most part, are amazing. Everybody I have encountered have been helpful and thoughtful. If it's asking directions or asking an opinion on where to eat/what to do around town.

There's a lot to do here - if you want stuff to do. I do, however recommend the Downtown/East side area as opposed to the West Side (sorry neighbors in the west side). There's more shopping and much more diverse dining on the East, and most of the museums and stuff are downtown. The West Side does have Miami Whitewater forest - good trails for biking (it is the longest Hamilton county park trail at 8 miles or so), and camping - you're still home, but not in your house...

Kid stuff - Children's museum in museum center, newport aquarium, cincinnati zoo, various parks throughout the city.

The Joy is in the Journey!

I'm all about the parks here in Cincinnati. There are parks for everyone.
Hueston Woods has trails, fields, camping, late for canoing
Alt Park has hilly trails, playsets for kids and amazing views of Cincinnati
Otto Armleder Park (on Wooster Pike) has playsets, large fields, paved trails (very flat), and has a wonderful Dog Park.

I'm glad that Cincinnati is finally getting in gear to become a more bike-friendly city!! I live in Clifton and I'm so happy to see sharrows on the street and "share the road" signs. I bike around my neighborhood a lot, and I'm glad to see some awareness being raised!

I love the murals around town!! My favorite it is the one in Camp Washington, behind Camp Wash. Chili.

I like the art museum - it's free now! Eden Park and Mt. Adams are both beautiful areas for walking and sightseeing. I second Graeter's too!!

I would also like to add that acquiring a taste for the drivel they call "chili" here in Cincinnati is not necessary - I've lived here for almost 10 years and I won't touch that stuff!! Ick. I prefer my chili Texas-style, with beans and spice and no chocolate, so there!! ;)

It doesn't matter how slowly you go, only that you don't stop.

If today were perfect, there would be no need for tomorrow.

Bliss cannot be disturbed by loss or gain.

Do I have to limit it to just one? Most of these are geared towards being a parent as my love for the city has REALLY grown since I became one:

Stuff to do:
1) The museum center- the kids museum is awesome for little ones, and both DH and I get into some of the exhibits
2) The zoo- it's hilly but fantastic
3) The Parks- the park system is AWESOME! We especially love Fernbank park for it's paved trail and awesome playground.

Food:
1) LaRosa's- we've decided that moving away from them would be just plain sad!
2) Greater's
3) Chili- As mentioned above, it's a big part of the culture here.
4) Wild Mike's- awesome place for wings on the west side.

General:
1) having all four seasons. . . they may not be pretty, but we've got them!
2) The landscape- I love all the hills, and the river, can't imagine living anywhere that is flat
3) WEBN- love the fireworks and can't wait to do Run Like Hell this year!!!

There are more things but these are just the highlights!

Jayna

My favorite thing in Cincinnati is the Contemporary Art Center. They don't have a permanent collection, so every few months, everything is entirely different. There's usually something I love, something I hate, and something I don't understand at all- but a visit is always a good time.

If you're new to Cincinnati, you'll want to start acquiring a taste for chili immediately. It's an important part of our culture. You can order a small chili, even though it isn't on the menu, in order to save calories.

The Little Miami Bike Trail is a great community resource. Currently it consists of about 80 miles of paved trail (a rails to trails project), great for biking, running, walking or blading. It follows alongside my favorite local river, the Little Miami, which is a national scenic river. There are some nice liveries on the river where you can rent canoes and kayaks.

I've lived in Cincinnati for a long time and I'm outdoors a lot; feel free to contact me with questions about the area!

You're welcome!
If you are more towards the east side, Cincinnati Nature Center is amazing too. I've lived here since 1991 and I really had a hard time narrowing down my favorite thing.

Have fun finding your favorite thing!

My favorite things about Cincinnati are the library system and the parks. There is a branch of the library near every neighborhood and a county or city park to go read in.

My favorite branch is downtown, and my favorite park is Mount Airy. Did you know that Mount Airy was a depression era project that turned acres of abandoned farm land into a forest? If you go hiking some of the trails out there you can find fossils in the stream beds.

The past is history. The future is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why they call it the present.

Lots of nice parks that are great for walking, hiking and plain old picnics.

It has the best of both worlds---good shopping and the arts and then parks and outdoor things.
