I was reading the topic and ran across your potluck plan from 3 years ago I think it was. One spoonful each item, plate division 1/2 fruit&veg, 1/4 meat, 1/4 carbs, along with no Seconds.

I'm guessing that was a serving spoonful, not heaping but more than a tablespoon. Is that what you do, or did?

One thing I've found is that if I eat too many carbs I quickly know as my body heats up. So I'm learning to ease down on the carbs. However, I do like to charge things up with spices and peppers so my body eventually heats up. But it is certainly different. I can eat a small portion of rice but if I go for two my engine starts burning and I learn that I won't be having other carbs I'd hoped for.

hahaha

Do you ever wonder about the Banquet Feast of our union with Christ Jesus? Adam and Eve ate in the Garden prior to Sin, and Jesus ate after his resurrection. Sometimes I like thinking on things to ponder as well as test my recall of Scripture and interpretive principles.

Our church is still doing a meal, rather than a potluck. But this Wednesday is our third! Yea! We even had a guest come so the body count was 7. Woo Hoo We're burning down the house!

Yeah, I know all too well. Right now my agency is in the midst of a merger and it sure feels like the spinning plates and of course the big announcement coincides with my first day of CPE (which has it's own set of spinning plates)! But, God is good. Things are falling into place. One day at a time!

I know all too well about "Sir Hectic and the Spinning Plates Review". Did you know that scientific studies from a source I trust indicate that no one can truly multitask? That means folks can be quick on the uptake, but none of us can do two or more things at the same time resulting in our best effort. Something is going to be less than ideal, both things may be less than okay, but you know the drill.

Good luck with the spinning plates.

Tonight is our first time to go to the Church dinner, but it isn't potluck yet. Of course, we are such a small crowd -- perhaps 11 will show up?

Last week they made spaghetti, which is easy enough to do. They had plenty of leftovers according to the cook.

It looks good.
Thank you for your other post. I've been going to respond in more detail, but things have been pretty hectic for me right now.

I'm looking forward to making a couple trays worth of these Yucatan tacos for the upcoming Wednesday Night dinner:

and I'll probably rest them on a bed of red rice with a little pea and carrot in that.

Oh my, my mouth is already watering up. hahaha

I'll be blabbing all over the place here, but
Oh wait. Hi! I'm new here...

Okay... we're rebuilding on solid footings our congregation in an old part of town. Same location, just got rid of a lot of built-up dross so to speak.

After service we had a church mtg and there were loose blueberries, orange slices, leaf lettuce salad, cheese & crackers, and I was able to make do quite well on the fare offered.

We will be beginning Wed nite dinners starting 11Sep19. I'll be involved in more than just eating... hahha so I'll be back with comments and seeking advice.

Peace to all who celebrate the fact that Jesus offered the Lord's Supper as a memorial until he returns and it was and should remain the elements of a meal. He did not give us a rite to perform with tidbits and kool-aid. It was part of a real deal meal with meat, veggies, etc.

If God hadn't intended us to enjoy eating and sharing he wouldn't have given us mouths and ears.

Just got done with a weekend of graduation parties plus my birthday. Too much celebrating. I did control myself at the parties and had planned splurges. Back on track today.

We did that too, I ignored the bread, but I had dessert, too much dessert.

Taking a deep breath......

I have problems with portion control too. Last Sunday we had a Soup potluck, I only ate one bowl but all the bread and crackers on the table

I make something that I know is healthy and concentrate on my dish. The dessert table always gets to me, I have to avoid it.

I use portion control and the plate method of portion control. I only eat what I like and limit my amounts to a spoonful. I use the plate method and divide my food into 1/2 veggies and fruit, 1/4 meat or protein, 1/4 carbs or starchy foods. I also go by the No S diet rule of no seconds at pot lucks. You have to consider pot lucks as splurges and only allow it once in a while and immediately go back to your healthy eating plan.
