I've already got plans for Oktoberfest in Campbell (was my first 5k last year), the SP Trick or Treat 5k, and the Turkey Trot. I won't be doing the event, but I am hoping to make it out to cheer on the Rock 'n' Roll emoticon .

Definitely gorgeous lights as they start going up. (Scary enough, it gets dark enough by December that the lights are on as I ride through on the bus heading to the gym from work.)

I live in Willow Glen, so I have started (well... restarted) running/ jogging/ walking through the streets here. I always get extra motivated during the holidays since everyone puts up such great Halloween & Christmas decorations :-)

I belong to the Willow Glen 24 Hour Fitness as well... buuut I haven't gone in about 3 months. Yikes.

I wish I had time to go hiking, but I can never seem to get away.

Willow Glen is a gorgeous neighborhood to wander through. (Sadly, most of my exposure is riding the bus through going to and from work - the route passes the elementary school and then heads up sorta near the high school before continuing on toward Campbell.)

Hi Everyone.

I'm new to this team, but I've been in SP for about 3 weeks now. Been learning my way around.

I agree! We are VERY lucky to live here with the great weather and access to so many different locales for wonderful outside experiences and activities. I often ride my bicycle along the Los Gatos Creek Trail and the Guadalupe Trail. I like to walk in my neighborhood in Willow Glen and sometimes I head to the coast or the hills to do a hike. I don't belong to a gym anymore, thought I have belonged to both Bally at one time, then 24-hour fitness. Both are good, but I found myself preferring to be outside. When I can't work in an outside activity, I ride my stationary bike in my apartment and peddle away to John Fogarty's music which seems to be at a pace that gives me a good aerobic workout! I always feel better. Then I do some yoga and occasionally do some weight work just to stay strong.

So true, We are so lucky, not to mention the weather. O most days I can get out ride my bike, swim, run whatever I need to do. I really have no excuses plus I own a gym.

I prefer to do my workouts at the 24 Hour Fitness Gym in Cupertino. My daughter dances at a dance studio right next to it, for 3 hours a night. I drive her there and it's too far in rush-hour traffic for me to drive back home, then turn around and get her, so I stay and work out. When she doesn't have dance, I go to the 24 Hour Fitness near my house (Milpitas). When I work out at home, I usually do a Leslie Sansone walk away the pounds video. I like to watch TV on Netflix while I do the elliptical. Currently, I'm watching Season 4 of the Biggest Loser and it's inspiring while I'm working out!

JULIE

My name is Julie and I'm from Milpitas, California!

My answer. =P

My key spot right now is the downtown Bally's Total Fitness. It's perfectly situated, as it is near the transfer point for the buses from work to home.

I also enjoy taking the Light Rail out to Campbell Park and setting out on the Los Gatos Creek Trail (or walking from where I work to one of two nearby entry points to the trail).

I like carrying my camera along and meandering around the city streets. The wide variety of homes and landscaping and people keeps my interest.

I don't do many workouts at home. My room is long and narrow and I have no TV, just my laptop and desktop computers. I prefer to be outside or at the gym with a window to the outside.

I think we're incredibly lucky here. No matter what our activity level, no matter what activity we choose, we can reach just about anything within a few hours if it's not available right where we are.

We have sidewalks in most areas with trees galore, a variety of parks and historic homes for scenery. There's gyms galore, running shoe stores, exercise equipment stores, garage sales to pick up other's used equipment, community centers. We can drive to the snow for skiing, the ocean for surfing or swimming, the hills in any direction for hiking, several creeks for trails, and so much more. We can roller skate, ice skate, dance, run, walk, climb. And all of that with outdoor weather that is rarely too cold or too hot.

Really, it is harder to find an activity we CAN'T do than to find one we CAN.

So, where do you stay active in San Jose?
