Today, I slayed my beast by realising that it's ok that I've been gaining the last few months because I'm back on top of it now.

Giving into the disappointment would only lead to more in the future.

Next Monday is my first wedding anniversary. Since DH and I will be gone this weekend, his parents took us out to dinner last night--Texas Roadhouse.

I did my research before and calculated what I could eat (1 roll, 6 ounce steak, green beans and a chili). I stuck to my list and did not touch any of the Bloomin' Onion appetizer they ordered and only ate 1 roll. I ate slowly and enjoyed every bite. I was surprised to find myself full and happy at the end of the meal! I usually eat 4-5 rolls, 12+ ounce steak and more calorie laden sides.

Go Me!

My beast was a mixture of pad thai and guilt. I ordered pad thai, and beat it by only eating HALF of it, coming to a fairly decent 666 calories (yes, it was evil emoticon ). However, even though it fit in my plan and I still ate well the rest of the day and came in under calories, I had to fight the guilt monster that tells me I shouldn't have had it in the first place! But I have beat that beast too!

I loved the post about conquering the beast! This week the beast I have conquered is just simply moving. My favorite thing to do is curl up with a good book. I find that on days I don't work, my calorie burn is really low. I tried really hard this week to get my reading in, but walking on the treadmill while I do it. This way I don't feel so guilty and I get to read my books! I also got my water count in this week which is always good. I struggle with drinking enough during work and pay the price with muscle cramps later in the day. This upcoming week I am going to work on not eating out as much and really counting my calorie intake.

I have a huge sweet tooth. It is ridiculous how much junk food I can eat! However, one victory I had this week was resisting a small bag of coconut M&Ms which I happen to love! They belonged to my boss, and he had yet to eat them, so he left them at the desk all week long. Finally, on Friday, I put them in the freezer in the back room because "out of sight out of mind". Well, on Saturday, he told my boyfriend how disappointed he was that I ate all the m&ms. I proudly told him they were in the freezer untouched :)

My husband and I went to Wendys (one of my fav fast food places) and I got the grilled chicken meal. I also didn't get the large portion either! Awesome! Man, I love their chicken nuggets and I really wanted to try the bacon and bleu burger (hello! Bleu cheese on a burger is sooooo good) but I didn't, even when my husband encouraged me to.

My "Beast" is sweets. I love chocolate and candies. Well they also trigger uncontrolable binges. However this week I bought 70 calorie fudgecicles. Typically I would eat more than one, most likely 3 or 4 at a time. But I have controled that beast this week. THERE ARE STILL FUDGECICLES IN THE FREEZER! The feeling you get of being in control is wonderful!!

The other day I was reading member blogs and came upon one called "Elliptical Machine MASTER!" by HERNAMEBUBBLES. It was a funny little post about Bubbles' struggle to meet her goals on the elliptical. What she wanted to do, what she actually did, and how she felt when she actually accomplished her goal. I started thinking about my own elliptical machine sitting idley there in the corner.

I'll admit, the diet portion of this has been pretty easy for me so far. I am finally learning how to cook in a way that I can eat a good sized, flavorful meal without it being a million calories. I enjoy my strength training, and never have to force myself to do it. Feel the burn baby!

Cardio, the ugly beast, is my struggle! I hate to feel winded. I go three steps and am ready to quit. After reading that blog I stopped and thought, "Man, if Bubbles can work her butt of to do it, so can I!" I forced my butt out of my chair and onto that elliptical and completed a great workout. I conquered the beast! What's better than that, I have kept it up every day since.

So here's the question, what is your beast? What have you struggled with this week that you were able to beat into submission?
