I used to lie all the time.

Now, I make myself tell the truth because it keeps me in check. I tell exactly how much I weigh and then promise myself there will come a time when I will NEVER have to say that number again.

Think empowerment ladies and gents, it doesn't have to be a nightmare.

I never lie, I just become paralysed and try to avoid telling.

I've gotten better with it over the years, but I still think it's rude for people to interrogate. I rather disclose it when and where I choose :-/

GEM! That is exactly what I was going to say! I let people guess what they want. Most people think I am less than I am, and it really is no one's business anyway. Even as big as I am right now, I am not ashamed of myself or who I am. I am not obsessed with a number on a scale. I am, however, very concerned about being HEALTHY! Up until now I have never even owned a scale. :)

Well if someone asks my weight, I don't tell them what it is. I make them guess and then say, "Hmm. I'll take that."

They never guess near what I actually weigh, though. XD

LoL i wrote down the biggest lie on my driver's license. I justified it by saying to myself i will lose weight and get to that size. Some family member have inquired but i don't see it as relevant. I've been completely truthful in medical settings and with those in the same position as me trying to lose weight.

Yes, this is probably the only thing I lie about almost everytime I am asked. I personally feel that its not anyones business what my weight is unless we are on a site like this such as sparkpeople, which is centered around weight loss. I have 2 people besides me in real life that know my true weight and thats because we are doing this together. I feel if you have the nerve to ask me outside of that area then I feel I have the right to say any number I choose. I have also lied over the internet about by body shape, to people I have made friends with and I do feel bad about that. I think if I was smaller there would still be limitations to what I would tell people, close friends, boyfriend yes, but honestly I doubt they would ask. Other people again, I would have to say I think its rude...

Oh yes, my driver's license weight is currently only 18-20 lbs less than my actual weight but when i first got my license it was more (and growing further apart! lol) In college, I lost down to as much as 45 pounds LESS than my driver's license and i never changed it, but unfortunately, after college, I got a sedentary job, no free gym, and a relationship and I got lazy and gained it back. But I'm losing weight now. However, i must say, in the 3+ years that my boyfriend and I have been together...He JUST found out my actual weight. I didn't lie, i just never told him.

Weights on your drivers license? That just seems silly! Weight changes too much, it seems like too much of a variable for me....

But no, I always quote my weight correctly. The only people who ever ask consistently are my Crossfit coaches and my husband. I have also had a few friends/co-workers inquire about my weight, I am not ashamed though. I realize that in order to lose it I need to accept it and strive for a lower number. The funny thing is that most of them don't believe me, they think the number is too high in reference to my size. I carry my weight well, but I still wish I didn't carry it at all!

I'm pregnant... and every time I go in for my check-up I tell the nurse right when she tells me to get on the scale that I am easily 150 so we can skip the scale part. LoL. YEAH OK. I'm double that. Hahaha. I like to see the uncomfortable smirk on their face not knowing whether to giggle or to be serious. Hahaha.

I feel as if its an ice breaker to the silence and awkwardness of the next thing they are gonna see when I go in for my normal maternity check up! HA!

I try not to discuss my weight at all. However, my driver's license still has 200 pounds on it (which I believe was 30 pounds less than my actual weight when I first got my license). And I'm 336 now so I'm not sure who I'm trying to fool with that.

My driver's license still says 140 lbs! LOL But that's mostly because I just never changed it after high school - and hopped it would be correct again some day.

Other than that, I avoid telling people how much a weigh or what size I am but will not lie if it comes up in conversation. I don't think anyone's ever flat out asked me. I will gladly tell people how much I have lost though!

I've never really had to lie about it because no one has ever really asked. New York doesn't ask for weight on our driver's licenses, but if it did I would most definitely take about 50 pounds off the real number. I think once I get below 200 I'll be a little less likely to lie if someone asked me.. I'm only 5'2" and don't carry my weight nearly as well as I did even 5 years ago and it's pretty difficult to "hide"..so I'm really glad no one asks me, cause I'm not sure they'd believe the number I'd make up..lol :)

Knowing my weakness made me strong.

I use to because I was always the heaviest person in the family/friends/work. My drivers license says 150, and i cant wait till thats true. I did however finally tell my husband how much i use to weigh, and how much i've lost - i left it up to him to do the math to figure out how much i weigh now. lol. But I never get asked how much I weigh anymore, its more like how much have you lost so far?

Nope. Lying about your weight just lets you throw a cloud of smoke over it. I find that telling my weight as it is helps me get immediate motivation to lose it, since hearing it makes me wince every time. Lying about it would just feel like im pushing it aside and trying to ignore it.

PS, it's 355 =)

When someone poses the question, "Have you lied about your weight?" I think to myself--OMG, someone KNOWS! Then I sit and read through these other posts, and I think to myself-- Come on, Deb. Be honest with yourself and with other people. If you don't want to lie about something, don't. And change what you feel like lying about, make it so you never feel like you have to lie. Get your butt in gear!!!

I remember at university I was applying for an overseas summer job. The application asked for your weight, and for your details to be verified by your referee (my professor). I couldn't face putting down the truth and didn't want to risk my professor challenging my lie, so I threw away my application and stayed home over the summer.

My license says 180...add 126 pounds to that and you will have my actual, current weight. I agree with Kristen, I should be uncomfortable with my weight because it's not normal. I want that number to change and go down. Since joining SparkPeople I am starting to be more comfortable sharing what's on the scale. My boyfriend knows, and he knows I am working towards being healthy. So yeah...current weight is 306!
I also have the advantage of being tall..5'11 you would never guess my weight, but the downside is that it's hard when losing weight. The first place I lose it is in my face and currently my backside is shrinking :)

Yes, last year went to get a new ID and since I don't look my weight I put 160 in stead of 260. This year that is one of my goals to be proud to put the right weight on my ID. sounds like a silly goal, but it's a big one for me.

I DEFINITELY have a lie on my lisense. It says 180 haha! Yeah right! The good thing is that my weight is distributed evenly and I still have some shape and structure, so I definitely look like I weigh less than I do. Probably not 100 pounds less, but maybe 50.

I just let people think whatever. I never ever tell anyone my weight. So.. I guess I don't really lie... I just don't tell!

Can I just say WOW foxyangl! Congrats on all your hard work. I used to lie about my weight a lot, because I have always been the heaviest of all of my friends. Now, I don't really lie about it. And I gloat about actually weighing over 300 pounds at one point. I actually stepped on a scale in front of a group of coworkers this afternoon because their classroom is doing a biggest loser contest and figured the money would motivate me hahaha! When I was going to medical assisting school, we were each other's guinea pigs, so there were times where I was getting weighed 3x a night. I had finally figured out how to perfectly stand on the scale to where it would make my weight anywhere from 10 to 40 pounds less. I was the fattest person in the class and I was ashamed as it was!

I always lied about my weight because admitting you weight over 300 lbs is never a fun thing. Now that I am down to 195 I couldn't be more proud :) I still have some weight to lose but I am happy as can be about that number.

Yeah, I've lied about my weight in the past. I'm trying to be more honest about it nowadays, but whenever my mom overhears me telling someone, she always tells me to shh and acts like I'm insane for telling people. It's who I am. However, if it's filling out non important forms or at the RMV, it's 250. :)

I have this advantage of being about 6 ft tall with the body type that when I gain weight I gain it everywhere instead of main focal points.

I don't lie about my weight but when I tell them what it is they look at me like I'm crazy. In fact when I was in college and my friends and I would try to lose my weight they would get so mad at me when I would tell them I wanted to lose 50lbs because they thought I was going for a dangerous amount. Until they saw my weight on the scale often times they wouldn't believe it.

I'm honest about how much I've lost, I've worked hard for every pound! I don't ever like to tell anyone how much I weigh, though. I will just say that my license says I weigh 195! Big joke, I haven't weighed that since like Jr. High. At the time I was on a diet, and it was only like 15 pounds less than I weighed at the time, and I was sure I'd get the pounds lost. Yeah, I was wrong.
