Everything motivates me! Everything I currently can't do, everything I want to do in the future.

A few members of my family, especially my sister, who has always been a healthy weight, motivate me by being encouraging and accommodating to my nutrition and workout schedule. Others motivate me by setting the best examples of what I most certainly do NOT want to end up like. My trainer motivates me by keeping me accountable and being the most encouraging person you could ever meet. She's been there, she gets it, and she will do anything she can to help me get there, too.

Mostly, I motivate myself. I can't be doing this for anyone else by myself or it won't stick. I have to be able to do this for myself so that regardless of what happens with others in my life, I still have this for me. Forever.

You can feel sore tomorrow or you can feel sorry tomorrow. You choose.

You can't outrun your fork!

I've been gaining a lot of weight steadily for years. The last 2 years, I gained 50lbs each! I have about 150lbs to lose and it can be overwhelming to think about, but I stay motivated by thinking ahead. I gained 50lbs last year- pounds that hurt my joints and self-esteem. In 2013, do I want to be even bigger and gain another 50lbs or be on the road to health? I remind myself that all the days add up and if I want to be healthy, every day matters.

The main thing that is motivating me right now (besides being a healthier person in general) is my upcoming wedding! I have tried countless times to lose weight without much success. It seemed like before I did not really put enough effort into it, but I am ready this time! I will not accept failure as an option. I am also lucky enough to have my wonderful fiance anlong for the ride with me on this one. We want to get healthy together so we can build a new future and be the best people we can be. I am very excited about it! :)

Excellent question Jessica! My family motivates me a lot too, both by supporting my efforts to lose weight (most of them) and (some of them) by setting an example of what NOT to do. I've seen the effects of ill-health in some of my family members and I know that I don't want to go down that same road myself.

I am Jessica and I am relatively new to sparkpeople. I am excited about the journey that I have decided to pursue, my weight loss journey. I am 25 years old and I am wanting/needing to lose 100 lbs my December 31, 2012. I want to start next year off right and I want to take this entire year to get in the right habits for my lifestyle change. I am curious as to WHAT MOTIVATED OTHER SPARKPEOPLE?
My motivation:
I will be married to my amazing fiance next year!!! I know he would love me and stand by my side no matter if I was 500 lbs or 120 lbs. He is my rock and without him, I really don't know where I would be. His constant support and efforts to help me get healthy are amazing. Also, the fact that he went from 480 lbs to less than 260 lbs is so inspiring to me!

I am also motivated by my dog. Yes, it might sound crazy but my 80 pound black lab motivates me to get up and moving everyday. He likes to go to the park and walk for hours! (How could I say 'no' to that face, lol).

My best friend is a huge motivation for me. She has stood by me for close to 10 years now and I know she'd love me no matter what I weigh. She has decided to pursue this journey with me. We are eating healthier and exercising more often.

My brother is a great motivator to me. He has lost a lot of weight since his high school days and even though he is younger than me, I look up to him. His determination and focus is amazing to me and I just hope that I can become more like him.

So....what motivates you? What keeps you on track and what has helped you achieve your goals?
