Why put off until tomorrow, what you can do today?

Start drinking water
Track your food
Read articles
Post on the Spark teams

You CAN do this, and it doesn't have to wait another day!

Welcome, I would ditto what Christie said about taking baby steps. You don't want to jump in & try everything at once or you will burn out quickly. Take the tortoise attitude vs the Hare, slow & steady will get you further!

Maybe start with a few baby steps so that you don't feel overwhelmed. Find some healthy substitutions for foods you eat, get in SOME exercise...even if it is only 10 minutes a day, drink your 8 glasses of water. Do what you can and when you've gotten it mastered....add more steps to getting healthy. And most of all DON'T GIVE UP!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

What got me started, was developing a motivating factor. I was sick and tired of how I looked in the mirror. I was so down and upset at myself for ever putting on that extra 40 pounds. Anyway, I got my wife to take a picture of me without a shirt on and everyday I use that picture as my motivating factor. Whenever I don't feel like going out to walk/run or when I just want to dig into that 1/2 gallon of ice cream and say forget it all, there is always going to be that picture around. It is something I can't escape and it has not only pushed me to get started, but it also keeps me going each and every day. This is what has worked for me so far so take it for what it is worth. Maybe it is something totally different for you. Maybe it is the way clothes fit, how you feel about yourself, or wanting to lose weight for any number of reasons. Whatever it is, you have to turn it around and use it to your advantage. That's my advice anyway. I really hope it helps. Anyway, I wish you the very best of luck when you do get going.

It's always hard to start, but you can definately do it. I stared my total weight loss, healthy lifestyle 4 months ago after all the thoughts of maybe tomorrow. So far have lost 60 pounds and looking to keep going. You will feel so great after you just get started! .....the first week is the hardest so don't give up.

It's true, and after the first few days or weeks of adjustment (once being healthy-minded starts to become habit, and then -- gasp! -- a choice) it does get easier, I swear. That said, don't let any stumbles knock you totally off. Because those are bound to happen too. Stick with it -- your fellow Sparks are here to help!
