Hi,
I'm also new and looking for buddy's to share this journey with...I am 31 yrs. old and i'm a first time stay at home mom...in the last year and a half my life has made a complete 180...I no longer work, i'm a new mother and my husband and I have relocated from fast paced NYC to small town Alabama...needless to say food has become my comfort and coping mechanism...I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life and don't know how to begin, so if anyone can advise me on getting started I would love to hear from you emoticon

Hi
To get your weight loss tracker, just go to your page, and click on "Edit my spark page".
Just go to the bottom of the page and the option for the tracker is there.
Now, one question to you. Would it be ok if I invited you and TEEBIRD70 to see my spark page?
Wish me luck. I weigh in tomorrow morning, and I have not been so good this last week. LOL

I know what you are saying!! It is hard to find really nice clothing. Sometimes I get lucky and find a real pretty dress or top but it is rare. So I need to get motivated and start losing some weight.

I will be forty next year and would like to go into a store and not come out so frustrated. I dont even shop for clothes becuase i get so mad at my weight.

Hi Shelly, I would love that because I need some support and motivation. I will be forty in 3 years and I want to FABULOUS at FORTY!! emoticon This may be a dumb question but here goes, How do I get the weight loss widget. Everybody has the scale below their messages with their goal weight and current weight on it.

Hi Affrica
I certainly empathize with you when it comes to finding a fitness buddy. I only come across mine around a couple of years ago.
But I am finding that tracking what I am eating (so I can actually see the result is doing a lot better for me.) I see what corners I need to cut.
Too bad you weren't closer, you could have been a part of my team.
We could, however, start a challenge with each other if you wish. That may be something you would be interested in.

Hi. I too feel the same way you do. I start to lose the weight and feel really good but then food becomes my friend again or something else comes up and I put off exercising. I am the heaviest I have ever been and find that as I get older (am almost 32) I feel that my metabolism is definitely slowing down! I am trying to do some new exercises and walking more often.
So keep on keeping on. Drop me a note sometime if you would like.

Hi Mom of Two, and welcome! I am also 38, and I had also hit my high weight last summer. I'm pretty typical in that I've tried diet after diet through the years and I would always gain weight back, plus more. This time around I've been more successful by taking it slower and making long-term changes I can live with. The cost of being overweight just got too high... health problems, sleep apnea, not being able to keep up with my 3 children, etc, etc. It's a challenge every day for me, and it probably always will be... but so worth it!!

I know what you mean.
I am 38 years old and been married for almost 11 years.
I have 2 children, 1 boy 9 (10 in 2 weeks) an 1 girl 6.
The things that are getting me through so far is logging and tracking my food, water and fitness. The other is; I have some really good friends at work, and we do 8 week challenges.

I know exactly how you feel MoMofTwo. My situation is similar to yours. I lost my mom 7 years ago. She had high blood pressure which led to a stroke. I am married with 3 children. I am at my heaviest weight too. I get motivated just like you and lose about 10 just like, this is the truth! Then something bad happens, sends me on an eating frenzy. I gain back what I lost and more. I came to spark for some help. This site offers everything we need to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. I have been a member for almost or maybe a little over a month. I have on an eating frenzy since. I am an emotional eater. This is my intervention, I need help!! I am going to start working this site so it will work for me. emoticon

I must admit I'm the same way. I've been going great for the past 2 weeks. Now I'm slowing down and just not caring much. Things are happening in life that are giving me mood swings...but mostly grouchy. LOL Yet I know I can't let things like that change my goals. Not caring is what got me into this position in the first place.

I've recently been thinking maybe I need to start having daily challenges between me and one other person, rather than (or should I say along side of) the group challenges. With one person, you have a tendency to get to know them better, and it becomes more competitive. You don't want to let that one person down. In a group, it sometimes doesn't happen that way, because so many of the people are just names, so to speak.

I'm rambling...sorry. LOL

Anyway, welcome! Wishing you the best, and may we both reach our goals!

Hello I am new to SparkPeople. I really like everything I've seen so far. I am married (for 18 years) and am 38 years old and I have two children one boy 9 and one girl 6 and I am at the heaviest I have ever been and I feel horrible!! I need to get healthy for me and my family! I have some health issues and I lost my mom 8 years ago and I don't want my children to go through what I have! I get motivated and I loose about 10 pounds then it gets harder and harder and then I stop and go back to old ways like a roller coaster and I am so tired of being on it! I need to do something now! I need all the help I can get! Any suggestions would be great.
