I avoid overindulging by not forbidding myself to have a sweet treat. If I allow myself 10 or so jellybeans, I won't be thinking about them all evening. I plan for the treat in my day, and try not to feel guilty about it. Luckily, we don't have kids, so it's easier to not have them in the house, but I did make sweets for our niece and nephew and we have leftover decorating goodies (M&M's and marshmallows) that call my name.

Since my kids don't like chocolate it was easy to not have that in the house. We also didn't go overboard with getting them candy for their Easter baskets. I did have some jelly beans that my mom got them but that has been it. I have even been fighting the war of buying peanut m&m's at the store when I go.

I need to do better with this. When I am good, I usually will only take a couple of pieces and use that as my dessert (and usually only if I have calories left to do so).

Ugh, I have to admit I am struggling. I just try to keep my hands busy by folding clothes, cleaning, etc. so I'm not snacking.

Sweets are all over at our house too- luckily I've been on antibiotics and everything tastes funny to me. I have "treated" myself here and there, but honestly, nothing really tasted that good and I ended up feeling guilty about it. So, I'm really not tempted anymore.

I don't eat sugar, or allow anything into my home, but what is on plan. However, I do wonder, since this is a theme on a lot of posts written today.

1) Do you wonder if you bought too much? Kids shovel down sweets a lot, and you bought SO much, they couldn't eat them in 24 hours

2) Do you worry that foods that are bad for you would also be harmful to your children? They share your genes. I know you want to let kids be kids, but eventually they will be teenagers, and this may cause them to have sugar addictions or obesity.

I wouldn't say anything about 2, except that these same parents are also having leftovers, so they are buying a lot of candy. Why not limit it to 2-3 pieces of candy, and have no leftovers? You still have Easter dinner, in itself a gastronomic endeavor to be overcome. I think between wanting children to be happy, and large portion bags of candy, we are never going to win this battle..lol

Unfortunately, I have the world's worst sweet tooth, so I do not buy candy. Besides, I have some big bills coming due very soon.

I'm not a big candy fan with the exception of the Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs, I had my kids take their baskets to their rooms so its out of my sight. Right now my big problem is all the left over food in the fridge and I'm not doing so well staying away from it.

Still learning! The stronger, more confident and more momentum I have built up the easier it is to naturally eat in moderation - even bad things. If that's not aligned, though, I have to simply stay away or I will overindulge like crazy.

I didn't buy any of it this year (OK, I did buy a package of Peeps for my daughter which I hate so I am safe, and a chocolate bunny for my son and I am not a plain chocolate fan so I am still safe).

But I have to admit I was looking for the Cadbury eggs and would have bought myself a caramel one (just one!) if there had been any left in the store last night.

I've been failing miserably......

I actually gave a ton of it away to keep myself from eating it!

We always let our kids take a certain amount of candy - their own bags, so that I can't get into them - and then my husband takes the rest to work. Too much temptation otherwise, since I'm home all day long.

If that stuff is in my house I give it to my husband, or we bag it up to take to one of our jobs. I can't keep it at my house where I can find it. I'd eat the whole bag.

Sweets are all over my house, now that the Easter bunny has visited. How do you avoid the temptation to over-indulge?

Luckily I work long hours away from the house, so I just have to make it to bed before hitting the snack table and I'm good. Still, I try to fill up on water or dinner so that the candy just isn't appetizing for me.
