This time, it's just me and Spark. In the past, my sisters and mom and I have kind of rallied together, but this time we are just too far apart and doing such different, busy things that it's not happening. My husband was on board with me for a couple days a couple times, but his heart isn't really in it. He's losing weight anyway, though, now that I am cooking at home more and we are eating out less. :)

My husband is my partner in health. We work really hard to encourage and motivate each other.

I don't have anyone with me physically but I do have someone I talk with everyday and we are being each others support unit. I joined sparkpeople.com with my bff Audra and we try to support each other by always asking how our goals are going and if we drank water, ate our meals, did our exercises, and logged our stuff. It is just nice to have someone else to go through it with you

Eh. Not really. I'm the "leader" in this effort and it just makes life harder for me. I nag my husband to get on board. He says walking "does nothing" for him, so he doesn't do anything at all. Because that just makes perfect sense. I have tried to meet up with girlfriends to walk. Most times they bail. I did Zumba with a girlfriend for awhile, but I don't have that gym membership anymore so that fizzled.

Other than people I've met here on Spark (my local team), no. My husband's never had to worry about his weight very much. I'm pretty much alone on this.

I am on my own. Like some of the others have said, my husband will admit that he needs to eat better, however he is pretty active and has no weight issues so I am going it alone. Thankfully I have the support of the SP teams and that seems to help a lot!

My kids have been walking with me but I find that they slow me down :) My fiance keeps saying he wants to eat better and lose weight too except for him that means only eating one meal a day (I can not do that!). So I'm pretty much on my own! emoticon

For most of my weight loss journey I have done it alone at the gym, which was fine by me since I never wanted to feel like I was keeping someone back or they were keeping me back. But lately I have been working out with a friend of mine here on base who has been putting together some really awesome workouts together, she is trying to become a certified aerobic instructor and personal trainer and I'm so willing to be her guinea pig. I also take a circuit training class 2 days a week but when it comes to straight cardio like running I rather be on my own.

No one in real life is helping me. My husband does go up to the Y occasionally, if I am already going and if the kids are not sick so we can check them into the kids care. Most of the time my husband doesn't mind whatever I'm making for dinner, but sometimes he wants the things that are not in my schedule. If only I had the nutritional menu for the chinese place we had last night...

I sometimes have to drag along my son when I go out for a walk in the park in my backyard, but I don't count that as a walking partner, he slows me down.

An excuse is just a challenge to figure out how to do something different.

I have a few friends that are trying to lose weight. So we can discuss things about our journey but when it comes to working out I'm better on my own our schedules dont match that great and I seem to push myself harder when no one else is around. The only down fall to having these friends is that 2 of them give up frequently and it seems like not long after they give up I fall off the wagon again so I am trying to change that this time.

I sort of have a little of both. My husband has no weight problems other than trying to GAIN weight. Most often I do my own thing, but occasionally we'll take the whole family on a walk or hike. That doesn't happen too often, but it's nice to have someone there with me from time to time. I would love to find a good friend with similar interests that I could go to Zumba classes or something like that, but for now I'm just on my own and I work out at home.

I am on my own. My husband likes to go walking and hiking, but only for the sake of walking and hiking...not necessarily for losing weight. Also, we juggle our two kids as appropriate to what the other is doing or wants to do .

I am somewhat alone in my journey. My husband & kids are support of my working out & will do activities with me if they can. But as far as the food, that is all up to me.

Of all the many times I've been on this journey I've had a workout partner twice. This time it's my husband and this is the first time ever. I don't know if it's because I've gotten to my heaviest or because he also wants to get in shape, but something lit a spark under him. He doesn't eat the same foods I do because he's not trying to lose and he's always been a relatively healthy eater, but he does support my efforts and gives me the look when I'm about to do something naughty.(if he catches me emoticon )

Tomorrow never dies.

I have my neighbor who walks 2 miles a day with me and together we've picked up the pace. Today I actually did 3 miles. We go over menus, food content, how to bulk up meals, etc. Shes been on the weight loss merry go round for a long time just like me. So together we support each other. I also have my fiancee. Hes never had a problem with weight but he keeps cheering me on so for that I consider him a partner. Hes always up for walks and exercising with me too. I'm lucky in that sense.

All the things that we accept become the things that we regret.

I am mostly on my own. I count my kids as partners because they have to endure long walks in the stroller. Sometimes a friend or neighbor will want to walk with me and I like the company, but I hate that I end up walking way slower than I usually would. For example I usually do 16 minute miles and a friend wanted to walk with me yesterday and I let her lead; we did 24 minute miles. I felt like it wasn't really exercise, but I had a fun time talking with her.

On my own in real life, although with all the support from SP it didn't feel that way!

Original SW on 1/1/11 - 204.4 lbs.
Original GW on 9/1/11 - 134.5 lbs
Original GOAL ACHIEVED! 70 lbs. banished!

Time zone: EST

New SW on 1/1/19 - 204, back to the very beginning
New GW by 12/31/20 - 135

I'm on my own, too. My husband is always saying he knows he needs to eat better and get more active, but he never does. I do fine on my own for a while, but then as soon as I hit a rough patch, I completely loose my footing and have a tough time getting back on board.

I'm on my own too. My husband supports me and my progress, and I'm able to get him out of the house for long walks on nice days, but he's pretty thin and can lose (and gain) weight pretty easily.

My husband was working out for awhile, but has since stopped and only will do something once in awhile. I keep telling him we should do this together.
So, I guess I'm on my own!

Do you have someone to work with in your weight loss process?

I don't. My wife has always been thin and never had to worry about any weight related issues. My friends are not interested in working out, so I do it by myself. Some times I like it because I am on my own schedule and other times I hate it because I don't have that commitment to be there for someone else.

Start: 286 (6/5/10)
Previous Lowest: 222 (8/31/08)

Goals:
Next Milestone: 222 -12/21/10 reached
Then: 220 by Christmas 2010 (reached 12/31/10)
Then: 207 (reached 2/12/11)
Then: 200 (reached 3/1/2011)
Final: 180 (reached 4/23/2011) - 173 reached on 4/30/11
Currently in reevaluation stage as to next goal

(fit into a medium again - goal reached 2/17/11!!!)
