I stick with the counts that spark people have given me and they seem to work. I do occasionally go over everything but the calories and it's taken me a while to accept that this will happen at times but I work very hard to stay within the counts. I do allow one "free" day in which I tell myself to go for it. I still try to eat as healthy as I can but on this day my friend and I go out for lunch and so I allow myself to go over all my counts. I've been kicking myself this week because it's been one party after another which is unusual and I've stayed within my calorie range but fat, carbs, protein and sodium have been blown through the roof. The important thing that I have to remember is that it is okay to not make your counts, or go over your counts, occasionally and not beat yourself up. Things happen but continue to strive to make your counts mean something and loose that weight!

I will remember to use the scale for measuring my weight not my worth

Hey just wanted to say when I do not stick with my calorie range they setup then I found i do not lose. Someone once said you need to eat to lose and exercise in the mix.Plus WAter!! You go too low in calorie it might work for a while but then you Binge later. Thats what i did. Sometimes we need to find out what works for our bodies and stick with it... It's always been hard for me and I can make a thousand excuses...But i found if I keep going even when I slip up the results come. They may take awhile but the Journey is worth it because you feel great. Right now I am feeling great and I'm doing it. Yes I had to start over, over, again but each time I learned something from it. It works if you take action. Im taking action and still eating and finding ways to exercise ,drink my water, keep within my calories and by doing this and logging in everyday Sparks is working for me...:)

I've been reading a lot of blog posts lately where people are talking about how they ate one item that made them feel guilty so they either mentally beat themselves up or did "penance" with an excessive amount of exercise.

I'm wondering- are these people going outside the nutrition and exercise goals that Spark has set up- either eating less than advised or exercising more than advised? How many of you are doing what you think is better than what the Spark tools have set up for you? If so, what difference has that made for you?

I am sticking to my calorie goals and my exercise goals instead of trying to "beat" them. I have found a few times that I was running short of my calorie goal so I made sure to eat a little bit more to hit my targets and my thought was that was what I was supposed to do. Eating too little or exercising too much is also going to inhibit my weight loss goals, right?

Any feedback you could offer to a relative newbie would be great!
