My biggest struggles are staying motivated and food (quality and quantity). I am an overly sensitive person and an emotional eater. Not a great combo! I'm doing my best though.

My biggest problems are not taking the time to prepare myself a healthy meal or picking something up that's healthy. Running to Wendy's or getting Chinese takeout is easier! So it's just breaking myself of that habit of taking the easy way out. Then there's the friend thing of if we're eating a meal together, I don't want to be the downer of well, we can't have that anymore because I need to eat healthy. Or my friend who says we need to lose weight, but I just bought these donuts just for you!

MCMATTIXFAM, have a cookie, break it in fouths, and enjoy that piece. save the rest for later, throughout the day when you want something sweet bc you see everyone else with it. take another bite then.

My biggest struggle would have to be the willpower to go walking after I get home in the mornings from work and having to dress and drag my 2 yr old out with me. Also, trying to prep something healthy to eat that everyone in my house will eat. emoticon emoticon

My co-worker has a special "community cupboard" FILLED with cookies and candy - to see everyone around me going in there and eating all of these things, it really makes it difficult for me to not join in. Just starting this out (literally today) - I am hoping my willpower is stronger than my desire!

Yes! I can relate to this 100% I ALWAYS feel hungry, and when I eat, I eat as if I haven't had a meal in days! Trying to portion control and not feel like I am starving afterwards is an absolute struggle on my end. I can eat healthy just fine, but when I eat "healthy" for about 8 people, it's no longer healthy. I really struggle in this area, I drink what feels like an endless amount of water throughout the day, I eat high fiber foods, I eat low calorie foods, I always feel hungry. Mind over matter!!! Keeping busy is what I feel helps the most. I find I eat more when I am bored. Good luck and I am open to any tips if anyone has any!

I definitely had to struggle against the hunger at first... but, I did benefit from greatly increasing my protein intake and somewhat increasing my fat intake.
I kinda miss my carb-heavy meals sometimes, but, not nearly as much as I used to. An egg beater omelette is more filling with more staying power than the toast or bagel I used to have.

I think I have a few but my biggest problems are my co-workers and friends. Everyone wants to party and drinking is a part of that. So when i decided to forgo alcohol, everyone went crazy and would give me mixed drinks even when i did not want one.

The other is my mother who now lives with me. Although i have ballooned and gained nearly 90 lbs in 5 years, she continually thinks i need to eat.. and eat her (unhealthy) food no less.

My biggest problems are my job and my friends. My closest friends tells me all the time I am not fat and can eat what I want. While she's very sweet, she's wrong. I am fat, and need to not try and soften that focus.

My job is the other probelm. I work in a pizza chain. There are only so many different ways to make a salad, and honestly, I've earned my free meal as a manager, and need it in order to save money on groceries.

Yeah. Pretty much what Goodfeline said. I have issues with anxiety and depression too and I kind of sabotage myself and procrastinate. i'm like I can do this tomorrow or i'll start tomorrow and I don't. It's better to just get started even if you're thinking about it as just getting it over with. Don't think about it just do it. There are are times i've done that and then I was like that wasn't that bad why am I avoiding this. And then I go through the same thing the next day. It's so much harder being motivated this time than it was the last time and I think it's because I have more to deal with. I need to learn how to live with the new me and i'm getting there slowly.

My biggest struggle is probably motivation. I have pretty severe anxiety and it takes so much energy to talk myself into exercising, into leaving the office to take a walk, into being brave enough to try a different food, that it just seems easier to stick with the safety of hiding under a blanket on the couch eating fast food.

I totally get the phrase "eating my feelings." I have done this for many years. After I got into working out and walking, I realized that it gave me equal to greater satisfaction as eating. I found it harder not to eat feelings during the first few months of my pregnancy when motion sickness was at its worst. I find that prayer and talking to others really helps. I will be praying for you.

I am sorry that you are struggling. Work like balance can be really tough at times. Have you checked with work to see if they might offer to pay for gym while you are out of town. Also, some hotels have gyms, but they are not widely publicized. I will keep you in my prayers. Feel free to message me if I can help in any way. Do you like verses from the Bible? You have your health on your mind. That is very good. Don't give up, just fit what you can in when you can and keep working back to the spot you want to be. When I first started back in February, I was so out of shape, that I started with 2 minutes on the elliptical, then 5, and on and on till I worked up to 30. There are days when I feel I cannot do the elliptical. On those days, I walk as much as I can.

Just 1/5 mile to 100 pounds.

Eating my feelings!!! Its been so hard to not shut up all my feelings with food..... I didn't even realize how often I did it but I guess I didn't get over 300 lbs from nothing. I'm still learning how to handle things without eating. I look at before and after photos of success stories whenever I feel like throwing in the towel.

My biggest challenge are medications that I take. It seems like all meds have weight gain as a side effect. Also, inactivity and embarrassment get me. I don't want to be seen because I feel that I look awful.

My biggest struggle seems to be convenience food (fast food, take-out, highly processed packaged foods, etc.). Due to my medical conditions my diet is fairly restricted, which requires a good amount of cooking and home food prep. However, when I am super busy with work or traveling, this is a hard routine to maintain. It is so fast and easy to grab a burrito or a deli sandwich, but I find this habit often throws me off my routine.

Soda if I had to pinpoint the hardest habit to kick and probably the most unhealthy thing I ingest. I am starting over for the hundredth time, each time heavier than the last and lasting for a shorter period of time.

I also have spent a lot of my time in denial! I am trying to keep myself accountable and honest. Everytime I say ugh I have been so busy or ugh I don't have time. I stop and think, did you play on fb today? That was plenty of time to go for a walk! Keeping myself honest is how I will stay on track!

I think my biggest problem was denial. Deny, deny, deny. Do not admit all of these feelings. lol. YES, it was a long process and it's still not perfect, but, with help and a lot of self awareness, I have improved quite a bit. emoticon Thank you!

Good to keep finding ways to break the boredom cycle!

Miss I think the biggest part of what you said is that you are making the effort to change the emotional eating. It is easy to say oh I am stressed so I have no choice but to eat this so I can just get it over with or feel better. YOU however put the work in to change that. It doesn’t change over night but everyday you work at it and I am so proud of you for that. You could have easily just let the emotional eating take over but instead you are being honest with yourself and owning up to it! Good for you! I am here anytime you need to vent or just want someone to tell you that you can do it! Because YOU CAN!

Virtual you are using amazing healthy habits to break the cycle. I eat when I am bored too. Now I drink a big glass of eater and hop on here to occupy my mind. I am always trying to find new ways to keep myself busy so that I don’t get bored! You got this! Amazing job you are doing by breaking the cycle with your children!

Right now my biggest challenge is breaking the bad habit of eating when I'm bored or anxious. Emotional eating actually runs in my family. It's a really hard habit to break. I have been hyper aware of how I give food to my children because I don't want them to associate food with comfort, because that's how I was raised.

Usually when I get the urge to eat I have a checklist of questions I need to ask myself. If I'm not truly hungry I grab water and go for a walk or something.

I THOUGHT for so long that it was because I worked too much at a sedentary job (with maybe too frequent reliance on convenience foods due to my long commute), and my stoopid thyroid!!!
But, even when I started busting my butt at the gym at my old office, it still didn't make much difference.

I finally realized I was a pushover and dealt with my frustrations and lack of ability to express myself by eating and drinking.
I'd do well during the day, breakfast and lunch on my own, but, the second I got home and dealing with the stress here, too... it all went out the window, logging, good choices, etc.

Got over it by blogging out my feelings here, or going for a walk (then more recently a run!), every time I felt like heading into the kitchen.

Occasionally, the urge overwhelms me and I still struggle against giving in, but, I post a HELP in chat or via email or messenger to someone and everyone is so supportive, saying to keep going, and I can do it, and I'd regret it tomorrow if I gave in. Helps keep me grounded.
Oh, I did get a different thyroid dosage that seemed to help my hair loss and regulate my menstrual cycles, but, my doc said a bad dosage shouldn't account for more than 10-20lbs. So, my bad on that excuse to myself.

I think my biggest struggle lies in emotional eating. I have an unfortunate tendency (if I'm not careful) to eat when I'm stressed, or angry, or bored, or sad. Hot heads run in my family, and I'm no exception. So I learned at some point during my teens (I think it goes that far back) to despise my anger and eat it instead because eating made me happy instead of angry.

I thought I would make a place for people to talk about their biggest struggles. Sometimes just venting/talking to others who can offer suggestions helps.

My biggest struggle is food prepping. I do amazing when I have food prepped but I hate going to the grocery store buying the food then coming home and prepping it. I get so lazy when it comes to cooking it. I also struggle with cooking everyday after a long 10 hour shift and then time at the gym.
