Hey everyone! I know you all have been working your rears off with this last 5 lb challenge. However, for those of us that are challenged on reading blogs in a timely manner, what is the possibility of doing this again for September? I have an interview that I want to drop for as well as my birthday is the first week of October, I would LOVE to be down 5 lbs (or more) by then.

Hi everyone! Pretty new at all this, not sure what I am doing. I'm not sure what the 5 pnd. challenge is. Just lose 5 by end of Aug., or is there more specific rules or suggestions! I'm not good at challenges, or setting goals or rewarding myself! Have worked-out at home off & on for 11 yrs. & now trying to get back into it & stick with it! Looking for ways to challenge myself to get & stay motivated! Your advice & help are greatly appreciated! With this month 1/2 over, maybe I can go for 2 1/2 pnds. emoticon

I'm new to this thread, and excited for the challenge. I saw the "lose 10 in Aug." and joined it, with reservations, but a 5 pound challenge, with the real chance of losing a little more, seems much more encouraging to me!
I, too, have had the "sodium swings" this past week! Had a too busy week which necessitated the use of processed foods, mostly just canned veggies. Gained 3 pounds overnight, to be lost over the next several days, and I knew where it came from which helped me not get bummed!
I have switched to frozen veggies when I can't do fresh emoticon

Great attitude Catherine :-) And you're right...at least it's going down. Yep, that sodium can do a number on that scale. Hope you're drinking lots of water to flush it out and I'm sure you'll see a nice drop on your next weigh-in.

I must mention that there were glimmers of hope not reflected in the above! At one point last week I weighed in at 162. However, I think that too much sodium came with my kitchen makeover this weekend, and has plumped me up.

Still happy that I'm going in the right direction, and I'm down!

I would like to join the challenge as well. I recently competed (and finished!) a sprint triathlon; however, I did not eat as healthily as I should have. My scale is going up emoticon . I have never joined a community weight loss group before and I am hoping a support group will be helpful. Good Luck Everyone!

monikki, you are SO right that it could be muscle. i gained 15 pounds of muscle weight in the last 15 months. could have knocked me over with a feather when i found out i'd been gaining GOOD weight!

Hey Carmel, I've learned that even though you want to workout everyday your muscles need time to heal. So take a day off at least once or twice a week. I'm sure you will see results. Also, you may be gaining muscle which is more dense than fat. Good luck

Weighed in yesterday and I was down .8 pounds. It's something. Not unhappy with it, but looking forward to more next week.

i"d like to lose 5 pounds - even 10. I lost about 20-25 pounds and have gained back ten of them. UGH!!! I started getting relaxed on my low carb diet and added bread back into my diet. Not a good idea as have real problems controlling this food addition. Also let my exercise plan slip in the last 2-3 months. I was doing so well and only about 10 pounds from my goal weight. So now I need to lose 20 pounds in total. So August is my "GET BACK ON TRACK" month.

I saw that we had a thread for June for a 5 pound challenge but wanted to re-do it for August. I want to lose 10 pounds by the end of October so I thought a jumpstart for August would be great!

So, I'm starting at 136 pounds. We can do check in's once weekly on Sunday nights or Monday mornings? I'm new to this, so let me know if that works out well. Thanks! Good luck everyone!
