Hi well hubby came home last night and we are talking and gonna try to save our marriage. He finally agree to go speak to someone. So we are making plans to meet someone and talk about what going on. He came clean and told me everything and I also apologize for snooping. He said he doesn't feel sexy anymore and he wish he could go back to work again. He hates being disable. He feels like he not supporting us the right way. He also told me he worried that his diabetes is getting worst then better. He tired of all the meds and insulin that he on. His bipolar is getting worst and his depression too. I'm just glad we talking and gonna try you know. I like to say thank you guys for all the help and advice you all gave me.
I can't believe tomorrow will be 2 months of being smoke free. I am also gonna work on my eating more healthy and finding ways to workout even if it just 20 to 30 mins a day.

T.G.I.F. It is a beautiful day here on Cape Cod and I am so lucky to live here...I could just pinch myself. I have had a great week and today is no different. I not going to lie...I had a 0.3 ounce weight gain and, yes, I was upset earlier this morning, but I still took myself clothes shopping and was pleased I was able to buy smaller size clothes and now that all the Summer stuff is on sale, it added to my joy. A side note, I ran into a co-work and she was like, "You look great". We wear uniforms/scrubs at work and they are not the most flattering, not to mention they are way too big for me, since I have lost 32 pounds, they fit, but are really big. So I think my co-worker was shocked because I was in street clothes that fit nicer. It felt great either way to get the compliment. I will spend the money on new scrubs when I reach my goal weight or my they are falling off, which ever comes first. emoticon

TRACYG: emoticon ...It's great to have a veteran Sparker among us!

ANNAG: emoticon To the team and happy belated birthday. 40 was a big one for me( I became a grandmother)...eek I am having the best time, what a precious gift.

It sounds like you are struggling with nutrition. I wanted to invite you to the July Firecrackers Nutritional challenge. You can find the thread on under the Challenges Forum on the 40 Something Team page. Once you locate the thread, please scroll down to the very 1st post, it will give you all the directions needed. We try to keep the post on the challenge threads down for easy tracking. The Nutritional thread keeps you accountable for checking in everyday and tracking your goals for water, freggies (fruits/veggies), tracking food and staying within calorie range. We also have a fitness and mileage challenge is interested...please check them out. Any questions let me or April_V_2 or ARKAIOS know. We are your co-leaders...btw these challenges can be joined at anytime throughout the month. Good luck! emoticon

April: Enjoy reconnecting with your friends and I just know you will succeed on meeting your goals this weekend!! emoticon emoticon

Happy Friday 40 Somethings!

So glad it's Friday! Woohoo!

I've decided to take the weekend off from posting on the team page. It will be a good break for me, and help me to focus on my family and friends over the weekend. And spending less time online.

My friend and her family that I used to live near about 10 years ago just moved to town, and we are all spending the day together tomorrow. I'm so happy to have a local friend! We moved here about 9 months ago and honestly as an adult it's a lot harder to cultivate new friendships. So this is very exciting!

I'm hoping to talk her into taking a yoga class on the beach with me, or maybe even a yoga on a SUP class which is very popular around here. FVUSCMOM - have you tried that yet?

TIAONYX1/Elaine - I tend to not make the best choices when I forget my lunch bag at home too. But honestly, you could have done a lot worse than sushi and popsicles. I really like vegan sushi, i.e. veggie rolls and avocado rolls mmmmm! And a popsicle has only like what, 80 calories or so? Sounds like a great low cal treat for a hot day!

TRACYG0625 - Welcome back! Glad you're here! I have been on sparkpeople a few times and left and came back too. And I keep coming back because like you, I know that being here does help! So this time I decided I'm just never leaving. That's the plan, like you said "stick with it!" A great goal!

KATESCAPE - I am so glad you are here! I like the idea of an emergency healthy snack in the purse! So smart!

LACESS24 - thank you for the tip about the cauliflower rice! I am definitely checking that out! I am like you, I like using cauliflower as a sub for other higher calorie ingredients, but I'm not crazy about the flavor or texture of cauliflower in it's natural state. I have found this magical recipe that turns cauliflower into a cream sauce that I swear is actually a decent sub for Alfredo sauce! Let me know if you're interested.

SHADOW833/Val - I'm so sorry you're injured. I hope you are all better soon! I know it is very frustrating when our body doesn't let us do what we want to do!

SALAM4545 - Glad you're here! I do a lot better with consistency when I'm here and participating on the site and the boards so I just keep coming back.

IAMMOODY2 - way to go on the workouts yesterday!

SCARLETTHEATHER - I know those plateaus are so frustrating! I hope you can break through. There are a lot of resources here on the spark people site that address plateaus, but I'm sure you already know that. Being healthy is an awesome goal! That is mine too!

I hope everyone has a great on track weekend! I have a mini-goal to actually stay on track all weekend, track all my food all weekend, and stay in my calorie range. And just for this weekend, no adult beverages.

What are your goals for the weekend folks?

Hi! I just joined this team. =) I turned 40 last month and I came back to SparkPeople 4 weeks ago to get it right this time. I've come to the conclusion that the changes I make have to be permanent so here I am. Eating healthy and drinking enough water each day is a struggle for me. I'm sitting here thinking about cake right now. LOL However, I have stayed true to my workouts. I'm on my first round of Insanity and today is Day 5 of Week 4, so I'm almost halfway through my first round. Yay! I do feel stronger and my clothes feel looser but the scale does not want to move. I'm finding it more difficult to get the pounds off this time. I just keep telling myself that regardless of whether the scale moves, I will continue to workout. My diet needs a serious renovation but it is really expensive to buy the healthy stuff so I just have be careful of what I eat and how much. Any suggestions are welcome! =D

Yeah, I just generally stay away from fish!

Good Friday morning! I'm so glad the weekend is almost here!

Our oldest son come home last night for a visit. We weren't expecting him, so it was a nice suprise. I have no illusions that it's because he missed us - I know it's because he missed his girlfriend! emoticon That's ok - we really like her. Possibly future daughter-in-law material? I don't want to jinx it!!

Happy Thursday all! I am returning (started on Monday) after a 3 year hiatus (don't ask me why I left, I couldn't tell you!).

So my goals are simple: STICK WITH IT!

The good thing is I returned and I only gained back 10 of the original 36 lbs. I lost. So at least some of the things I learned on Sparkpeople stuck with me. emoticon

SparkPeople is the only place I was able to lose the weight and get the encouragement so here I am again.

So Just thought I would say "Hi" as I get acclimated to the Spark again!

April, cauliflower is my newest obsession. I saw this clip on Disney Jr in between cartoons with the kids and just HAD to try it. It is so super easy to rice.

Ok, I can't make the link work but go to youtube and look for "How to Make Cauliflower Rice | That's Fresh with Helen Cavallo"

Now with all this said. I usually am not a big fan of cauliflower. Tastes like dirt to me. So I use this with food that has a lot of seasoning to overpower the taste, but honestly, I don't mind the taste of the rice with even just soy sauce in it.

I've also turned the rice into fake mashed potatoes, I had to doctor them up with stuff like a loaded bake potato with cheese, bacon bits, sour cream, but man it was good!

Hello Everyone! I haven't been very active for awhile, been going through a rough time personally, but that's no excuse! I do try to log on late at night, but the site seems to run a lot slower...I don't think it's me, Facebook and Pinterest seem to run okay during those times...but the fact of the matter is, I haven't been consistent. The good news is, I haven't gained weight. I haven't lost any either, though. And my exercise is almost nil, which makes me sad.

So I thought I would make a concerted effort to reach out through the weekend. I've been isolating too much, I am sure, and that is never a good idea for me.

IAMMOODY2 ~ Do you have any tips or a tutorial for tie-die? I haven't done it in years and I was thinking recently that I'd really love to do some with my kids. I'm even thinking of making tie-die curtains for my daughters room to brighten it up.

Sorry to hear about Wile. She was entertaining to say the least. Going to miss her daily updates.

Today I walked 1.5 miles and worked out on the Total Gym for 40 minutes. A little tired now.
I am at a plateau already! Stuck at losing the first 9-10#. It kinda bums me out, but I know that I should have a break through soon.

Yesterday it was hot and then pop-up thunderstorms happened, so I did a large batch of tie-dye. I blasted the 80s music and danced while working on my projects. I'll attempt to post some pictures of the finished products (if they turn out ok).

Have a great day everyone! emoticon

I love this team and how encouraging and supportive everyone is! emoticon

FYI folks, looks like wile deleted her account so she probably won't be replying to your posts.

I hope everyone had a great Wednesday and got over that hump!

How is everyone doing with their goals this week? I have had 3 good days in a row now, and I'm very happy about that. But the weekend will be here again before we know it. And I LOVE the weekend, but it is the toughest time for me to stay on track.

What about you all? Do you have tougher times of the week for staying on track?

Some strategies that have helped me are:

- Still using the food tracker on the weekends
- planning my whole day of meals in advance on the weekends
- planning in advance when I will exercise each day
- getting up at the same time on the weekend as I get up during the week so I have the time to fit in exercise before all my weekend activities get in the way

What are some healthy strategies you use to get through those challenging days?

WILE3COYOTE- Hey there! I really don't want to see you go. emoticon

I knew about the ads but not that they were targeted. Like some others said, I just ignore them. I know they are there but I keep my "tunnel vision" on what I am doing on my trackers and so on. I must admit that I have OCD triats (not disabled by it, but traits) so I can understand if you see them and can't ignore them. If it was something that irked me like that, I would have a hard time ignoring them. Not saying you are OCD; please don't think that. I just know that when something bugs you, no matter how big or small, then it will probably ALWAYS bug you. For example, this past weekend I has a small tiff with my husband and he apologized. It was about a phone I had bought him early for his birthday. He didn't seem to appreciate it. He did apologize. I finally accepted. Although he does like it and is seeing now that I was correct in that it is a much easier phone to operate, I told him that every time I look at that phone, I will always remember our disagreement and it plays over and over in my head every time. It is just the way my brain works, can't help it. So the ads probably do the same for you and like I said, that is understandable. But the question is, can you move on? Can you ignore them? Laugh at them? I think all I ever really noticed on my page were the ones for clothing for PLUS size ladies. I just say to myself, and sometimes out loud, "I won't be buying anything from you ANYMORE!" If you can overcome the other obstacles in your life and do as much as you do everyday with MS too, then I think that you have it in you to overcome this too. I believe in you! Now it is time for you to believe in you too!

I don't even look at the ads. They are like flies that I wave off with my cursor on the close window icons.

Yet, at my late 40's I do wear those. And it is something I am not ashamed to buy or to talk about. If I sneeze, laugh or cough, I need that peace of mind. Also, as I enter another joyful state, I ponder HRT or BHRT. They both have cancer risks. The alternative without HRT is increased risk of heart attack and brittle bones. I don't want to hunch over.

The ads are how we get the site for free. All of those free videos are paid for by the advertisers. Even Google, Facebook, and other social media sites have that annoyance.

I say, take the good from the site and click off those ads. We can't see the ads appearing on your page. As I said, I only glance to the corner where the close icon should be, and I use it.

I love the taste of food, but I love the taste of life even better!

My secret weapon? Pinterest. Crazy I know but I'm able to look at scrumptious recipes. Sometimes just looking at the food makes me feel like I've enjoyed it. I have such dietary restrictions that if I adhere to them, I'm not really able to eat many of the things I pin as they are so instead, I rework the recipes into something I can eat. Then when I'm cooking it up for my family, I save out a portion of what I need and fix up my own version. Today for instance I made Korean Beef. Instead of rice, I used cauliflower rice and my entire HUGE plate of rice with 2 ounces of the Korean Beef was less than 200 calories. That is my secret weapon!

A few of my long term goals...

#1 of course is to get to a healthy weight (100 reasons for that alone). In my head and on my spark pages I have put 140, but if I got to 160 and felt happy I would stay there. I'm only 5'1" so the weight charts and BMI say I should be like 120, but I don't think I've been 120 since puberty hit. LOL.

2. Feel comfortable in my own skin. Not constantly loathe the way I look. Not constantly think about how my clothes feel or if people are thinking I look bad/gigantic/whatever. Feel sexy with my husband.

3. Feel like I am being a good example for my kids. They are both tweens now. By the time they hit their teenage years, I would love to NOT be "the fat mom" who they might be embarrassed of. I don't want them to fear food or exercise because of what they see mom and dad doing or not doing. I want to LIKE doing outdoorsy things with them and not be worried about looking stupid, feeling stupid, wearing shorts/bathing suit, etc. So far they just love me for me, and I am a pretty good example otherwise. But they are getting to those years where body image becomes a lot more of a focus.

4. Not feel tired and depressed and anxious all the time. Even when life is going good, my weight and size is enough to send me spiraling downward. Without all the excess weight it would be one less thing to be sad/obsessed about.

Hey y'all! I'm iadopted5 and am new here. Wanted to try to connect with discussion.

The group I joined 40+ w/ 50-99lbs to lose challenged us to write about our long-term goals, so here goes...

My long-term goal is to be able to ride in a fair ride again! There...I admitted it...aloud.

The last time I wanted to ride a fair ride with my son, I was told I would have to ride by myself because I weighed too much. Then even sitting by myself the bar just about crunched my stomach to the point it almost didn't close!

It was embarrassing to say the least!

I want to fit into a plane seat or theater seat without squishing over the sides.

I want to walk all day at the beach without being tired and out of breath.

I want to look "hot" in my blue jeans again.

So, there, not a number goal but some personal goals to ponder and work towards.

My biggest goal is to be healthy as hubby and I enter early retirement. We planned financially, now lets get healthy so we can enjoy it!

Hey 40 Somethings,

Now that we have shared our goals, it's time to take action!

What are some action steps you are taking today or this week towards your goals?

so incredibly hurt right now by the ads that were displayed on my page both yesterday and today..

Being REMINDED of certain health related issues through stupid ass advertisements all because I typed certain 'keywords' in my conversation...this is NOT my idea of support.
I'm directing this at Spark People and those of you whom I considered my 'spark friends'

You can take your advertisements for AZO bladder control pills...and your DEPENDS under garment advertisements and SHOVE them where the sun don't shine!!!!!!

Such a WONDERFUL sight?? ...really, only when the ads are not directly affecting YOU!

Wile brings up a couple of important topics we should discuss: online privacy, and ads on the site. I'd like to address each one separately.

1. If you haven't read through the rules of the road for the site and the terms and conditions, I highly recommend it. Here's a link to the community guidelines. It's really not that long or difficult to get through:

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivat
io
n_articles.asp?id=349

I'd really love it if everyone on the team would read through that, because it's a good reminder about the do's and don't's for these teams and message boards. However, here is one excerpt:

"Message Boards, public SparkPages and public SparkTeams on the SparkPeople website will contain information that can be posted and viewed by anyone on the Internet. Please keep this in mind when sharing personal information on the site. "

Please keep that in mind when sharing info on this team page.

If you want something to be kept private, don't post it on the internet, really anywhere on the internet. There is no privacy. This is a diet and fitness site and team. We should only share information on this site and this team that you wouldn't mind anyone in the world seeing and reading.

2. Regarding advertising on this site:

I love Spark People's website. I am so grateful for Spark Guy and the rest of his team for building and giving us this amazing site. I have paid for so many diet programs including websites that have given me so much less than this amazing, free site.

I will never complain about the ads on this site or encourage people to use ad blockers. You need to understand that all those ads and the companies that choose to advertise here are responsible for this wonderful site being free of charge and available to absolutely anyone who wants to join.

Yes, I would pay for the privilege of being a member of this amazing community and have done so (I paid for a year of Spark Coach, I paid for the app for my phone before it was free, I purchased videos featuring the awesome Coach Nicole.)

However, if everyone had to pay a membership fee to be a part of this site, I wonder if it would be as awesome as it is, with the diversity of people we get here. And that is one of the reasons Spark People is the best diet and fitness site available.

Instead of complaining about these ads, I say we click on them often, and actually check out these companies that choose to sponsor this site we all love and choose to be a member of. And if that company has a product we need or want, why not actually purchase a product via the spark people site link, thereby further helping Spark People in their efforts to keep this site available for all.

Disclaimer: I am NOT an employee of Spark People. I'm just a huge fan and admirer, and I hope, a lifelong member.

Regarding targeted marketing, I.e. A site using key words you type in to tailor the ads you see on the site. Yes, Facebook, google, yahoo, and most likely, spark people does this. I don't know that for sure but it's certainly possible. In the case of Facebook, I decided it wasn't worth it for me to be a member of a site that I don't get enough return on investment for, so I closed my account. I don't use any social media sites anymore except for Spark People. But again, if you read through my post here, I feel that it's worth it to me to deal with ads on this site because this site is valuable to me.

I have lost 40 pounds, increased my fitness level dramatically, and made friendships. These things make this site valuable to me and I am absolutely ok with them targeting advertising towards me. Frankly, it makes much more sense for me to see products on here that I might actually be interested in buying. It doesn't make sense to show me ads for things that aren't targeted towards me, that would be a waste of advertising $$ for the companies that advertise here.

Ok, I think that's all I have to say for now.

well, I just experimented listing specific keywords and I'll be damned if didn't happen again....with ads on either side for AZO, CrunchMaster 'gluten free' crackers, and stroke medication.

We will see what tech support has to say, but at this point, I'm inclined just to close my account with Spark People. This is the very reasons why I STOPPED using Facebook.

WILE3COYOTE, I'm not getting any adds on my Spark sites. I don't know if hubby put ad blockers in or what, but I'm gonna be more aware now that you've mentioned it. I'm hoping it's an easy fix so you're still able to chat on here -- where will I get my inspiration if you're not here? emoticon

Quick question..

Is it just me..or are the 'spark people' advertisements that are being displayed in and around this sight somehow connected to the conversations that we have?

this may very well be a coincidence but since I posted my 'goals' a little while ago, the advertisements that are now being displayed are for AZO 'bladder' control pills and MS 'exercising' tips....

Other than to just not talk about certain 'issues'...is there anyway around this?
Has anyone else noticed this?

I know this happens on Facebook all the time..one of the reason why I rarely use Facebook anymore...

sorry, I've removed my goals that I had originally listed here..
I finally started feeling comfortable coming on here and talking about certain personal issues only to find out that certain 'keywords' that I mentioned during this particular conversation are now being displayed in very large advertisements on either side of my page...
no offense to SP..but I do not need to be reminded of certain issues or see such ads plastered around the site.

Wile and Moody - I have this machine I bought a while ago, called soda stream. It takes plain water and turns it into sparkling water. I drink lots of it every day. I also add fresh squeezed lemon to it for flavor. All natural, helps with getting that full feeling and also aids in digestion. Also the lemon is good for the liver. I highly recommend it! We get fresh lemons from the farmers market every week and go through about a dozen a week. I put lemon on everything! I'm a lemon enthusiast.

Sometimes the body doesn't want food necessarily, but a large glass of water. Saw it on an MD show a few years ago when they were talking about what to do if you have the urge to eat at night (the midnight snacker). They said that the body just wants anything and can be fulfilled with water and not fall victim to the munchies.

Give it a try!

Hello 40 Somethings,

Thank you to everyone for sharing your goals! I love reading about all the wonderful healthy goals! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I hope everyone is having a great week, working towards those goals! I have had two good days in a row. I am so hungry, but I am successfully fighting the urge to overeat. I know when my stomach is stuffed full of dinner and I still want to eat, it is not because of physical hunger. Sometimes my brain and my stomach don't communicate properly. I think it's because of the cycle of yo yo dieting over the last 20+ years. My hunger and fullness signals can not be trusted! Does that happen to any of you?

So I have to trust the nutrition tracker and spark people to keep me on track.

My secret weapons are sparkling water and air popped plain popcorn.

What are your secret weapons? :-)

I hope you all have a great week! Go team!

Hey emoticon ...hope you are all having a great week so far...I'm keeping on track...thanks to the emoticon challenge! Loving it emoticon

ZINGALOO and WILE3 --- have fun with Richard and definitely take a pic with the striped shorts for your spark pages...that would be too funny!

I've been walking a lot but yesterday my dog, Benny, and I were almost caught in a big storm. These seem to always come through Colorado in the summer afternoons so you have to be on guard for it. We were lucky that when it really hit we were almost home. I'm going to have to see tonight if we are doing a quickie and then a video instead....we will see...hopefully "Butt Butt" and I will get our 5K in too!

ZINGALOO --- I will post my curry recipe when I get home from work...don't want to tell you wrong...this will be dinner tonight so then it will be fresh in my mind...along with the cabbage stir fry emoticon

SANDY1380 -- Prayers for you and your kiddos!

KATESCAPE, APRIL_V and FVUSCMOM -- thanks again for being great role models!

LACESS24 -- congrats on the clean eating. The thing I noticed was how you craved veggies instead of chips. It sounds weird but when you get rid of the carb addiction you just feel good!

MICHLUVBOSTON -- thanks again for the smoothie recipe...still working up to trying it. I like veggies but still can't get past the green smoothie idea yet...give me some time I'll get there!

APRIL_V -- I am working on my goals too...here's what I have come up with so far...
Short term --
1) Continue water daily
2) Track ALL foods daily
3) Keep Na and fiber numbers where they need to be
4) Better meal planning/grocery shopping
5) Lose 5% of my weight in the next 7 weeks or ~ 9lbs with the 5% challenge
6) Get ready for the 5K ColorRun on August 2nd -- got hubby and daughter on board...just need to corral my son too emoticon

Long term --
1) Keep blood pressure numbers in good range
2) Lose 47 more pounds!
3) Be a better role model for my kids (and hubby)
4) Get stronger and more confident with myself
5) Enjoy my success...small or large

Keep sparking!!! emoticon emoticon

Thanks! Yes, my mom and I have a good relationship like that. Actually when the day comes that she does leave, I will probably fall apart. Just like I did withe my Me-maw. I had a cousin that actually took masking-tape and labeled things in the house to make sure she got what she wanted. That side of the family is big and all live in one or 2 towns so close together in Alabama. I am in Florida and when she did pass, I didn't get anything. Slowly over the years some other family members have given up part of their bounty, but mine was a better own. I got something from her that nobody else can share; it is ALL MINE! I lived with her during nursing school after Grand-paw passed and I learned so much from her. She was and still is literally the only person I know that has demonstrated UNCONDITIONAL LOVE to everyone. At her funeral I saw an Angel with her. I have been to numerous funerals and it has never happened again. I was in such AWE that I couldn't speak. I couldn't even get the words out to tell my mom until later. Plus you didn't talk about that stuff around people in that area....yep, the traditional Bible Belt. Trust me, seeing-smelling-or hearing the things that I do is a blessing and a curse. Keeps me up at night too. So yes, my relationship with my mom is wonderful. Plus she is a cancer survivor and clear for 3 years now. She had Lymphoma and my dad and I were there the whole way whether she wanted it or not. Dad waited until she got her first ALL CLEAR from the Dr before he passed. He was close to going and couldn't talk, but could hear me. So on their anniversary I told him not to die today, wait until their anniversary passed first, he simply looked at me. He did wait.
He passed sometime between 1:30AM and 5AM. It has been rough for a few years, but we keep plugging along. I know this is way more than you wanted to know, but sometimes you just gotta say it. I was afraid someone would take it the wrong way and get offended. But that is just the way our relationship is. Light and comical but with a serious undertone.

Thanks for listening!

Gosh, I am SO inspired reading everyone's long term goals...
I have honestly never given my own 'long term' goals much thought..I'm kinda just winging it here from week to week...but I will do some thinking on this and come back later in the day and post some of mine.

Going to go donate blood this morning. I love being able to help even in such a small way. The whole community gets together, eats at the cantina that has homemade food from a lovely lady who visits with you and makes sure you are feeling ok before you leave.

I have been eating clean for 5 solid weeks now. With the exception of one trip to IHOP. I feel pretty good about that. I don't really miss the processed food and know that when I do have to eat some, I'll be able to handle it.

Happy Taco Tuesday to everyone!

Feeling a little unmotivated today. I walked a mile at the park, I was going to come home and lift weights but I'm feeling sleepy...I'll go walking with my husband tonight to make up for my lack of motivation!

IAMMOODY2 I think it's great that you can be totally upfront with your mom. That is some motivational prize! I had a breast reduction in my 30s - I was very happy with it...but after I had my kids they mysteriously came back - well not a mystery really I've gained and lost so many times. but I was VERY happy with the results, I can only think a tummy tuck would be even better!

DEBRN64INMA I love the Vineyard...OMG it's been FOREVER since I've been there. I moved to Florida 11 years ago, I can't believe how time flies. I miss it - miss Boston so so much. I love your goal: To remove unnecessary stress and drama from my life. When you figure out how to do that - POST it!

CATNURSE1 I hated water too. I had to learn to drink it. I started with a big pitcher of water with lemons and orange slices in it. Finally it just got to be a hassle slicing the fruit and I started drinking it plain. I can't believe I gave up my diet coke /coke zero I drank it by the case.

LACESS24 eating clean is a great goal. Not just for your body but your head!

KATESCAPE You're half way there you must feel great! (and you're on the Cape, what more could you want!!) We used to stay in Dennisport at (I think it was called ) The Three Seasons...all the old politicians and mafia guys used to stay there!

SANDY1380 Sending positive thoughts your way. Are there support groups in your area? It may be a great stress relief to find one.

TIAONYX1 It's a great feeling when you don't want to but you do it anyway! You go girl!

Ok, so here goes:

Short term:
Bust this mileage challenge this month.
Cont. drinking 8+ glasses water daily.
Healthy eating choices for me and my family everyday.
Improve my walking time for each mile walked (my personal mph).
Meditate EVERYDAY.
Eat as close to Gluten Free as possible.
Just lost 10 lbs and need to lose 10 more.

Long Term:
*Lower my blood sugar and hopefully dodge the Diabetes bullet.
*Create overall better health for myself.
*Be the example I want my kids to become and not wait until they are 40 something and start having health problems they need to correct. Stop it before it starts.
*Lose a total of 40-50# and my mom will pay for me to have a breast reduction and tummy tuck. Otherwise, I told her that I would have to wait until the inheritance came through. I know, it sounds crass, but I told her that I couldn't afford it until she kicked the bucket and she said I didn't have to wait until then. That was a shocker. But she has the $$ to do it. We talk like that all the time, so I hope it doesn't offend anyone.
*Increase my flexibility, core strength, and stamina.
*Strengthen my bones to lessen the chance for osteoporosis.
*MEDITATE EVERYDAY!

So there it is! The honest truth.

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. I spent mine on Martha's Vineyard and it was beautiful (once the hurricane passed!!!). I didn't make the healthiest food choices, but it wasn't a total disaster and I was VERY active, racking up over 12 walking miles on my pedometer. emoticon

Long term goals:
To stay motivated and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
To remove unnecessary stress and drama from my life.
To find and maintain a healthy work/life balance.

Hope you all have a great day!

Wow. Long term goals. Here I still forget to brush my hair daily and put on deodorant when I leave the house, and now I have to think of long term goals.

First, short term, if I survive tomorrow (yearly woman exam), I plan on getting some cleaning done in preparation of moving. And I have to help the girls as they are worse pack rats than me, and that is really bad. We also go back to agility training with Lucy the Wonder Dog on Saturday, and we're gonna be speedier that we were last session (I hope). She is turning eight years old on the 9th and is a 2-year survivor of cancer. Yeah, Lucy!

Back to the task as hand. Long term goals.

Lose 50 pounds in one year. Will not get down on myself if it takes longer.

Try to get in at least 20 minutes of jazz ballet six days a week (given exception to the monthly curse week).

Drink eight glasses of water daily. Will have to be some Crystal Light as I'm not a water drinker. Plus our water here is not really drinking-friendly.

Get my oldest daughter motivated once we have our PT room up and running (she's still recovering from back surgery) and she has a safe place to exercise.

Get my youngest daughter more motivated to move (ie, exercise). She likes dancing, so it shouldn't be too hard.

Try to be a better housewife -- I'm not Suzy Homemaker and I loathe (for lack of a stronger word at the moment) housework. I'd rather kick the dust bunnies back under the bed than pick them up and throw them away.

Continue to track my food and my fitness and my weigh-ins on a daily basis, or at least play catch up and finish out the week on a clean slate.

I'm sure there's more, but my brain is shutting down. This list better not disappear so I don't have an excuse to ignore it.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

My long term goals....

Find my new ideal weight and learn to love who I am. (with all these 40+ health issues, my old 107 ideal weight is probably not realistic any longer and that is just ok.)

Eat clean. Preservatives are slowly killing me, I know that, and I can avoid them most of the time.

Find time for myself each day. Usually it is when I am walking, but it feels so good to have no children taxing my brain as I'm walking and letting my mind wander that I don't mind it being my only "me time" for most days.

Ok APRIL_V_2 I had to steal some of yours but I have to say the hardest thing is after I get there, maintaining it. That's where I fail every time. I have no clue how many times I've lost 30+ lbs just to eventually gain it back plus more. So my first long term goal would have to be:

My long term goals are:
*Lose 50ish pounds - maybe a little more...I"ll know when I get closer!
*increase in aerobic fitness so that I can really enjoy my turbo jam/fire (kickboxing) again
* increase my flexibility
*to build muscle and strength
* to eat clean - when I eat clean everything else seems to fall into place!
