Doris, that is so sad about your friend passing on Christmas day. I wonder if the meds killed her or she was too ill to survive longer.

Don't worry about your cleaning, Dirt is inert and it will not go anywhere. Just do what you feel like and get better first. Didn't you used to have someone clean your house periodically? I wish someone would come in and do my heavy cleaning. They charge $15 an hour. if I was feeble I could get a caregiver and they do some of the cleaning, not very much though. I would not have to pay for that. I would not like how they do it anyway. So why am i talking about it? emoticon

We finally had our monthly residents meeting this afternoon and I got mad. Barbara started spouting off about our using the community room so much for our sewing. I sicked Laurie on her and she denied what she said but she shut up. We only use the room on Wednesday and Saturday.

I don't know why Barbara cares in the first place because she stays in her apartment most of the time watching TV or sleeping. She is one of the first ones to eat our food. Oh well, she will never get any nicer.

I came home and got out my crocheting and almost have another dish cloth finished. I gave away all the ones i had in my stash..

John, I received your card today and it was an nice surprise. Thank you. I am glad you are in a better frame of mind. Trying to deal with others is a challenge at times.

Did soaking your clothes help get the blood out?

Michele, what do you and Tad do to celebrate the New Year? Are there fireworks and dancing all over town?

Are y'all tired of me just doing a quick check in yet??? I have a few minutes before starting more laundry for the kids to pack. I have no idea of how they will get all their things into my car tomorrow to go to the airport...2 car seats, so many suitcases, etc. They just got both little ones to bed. I'm heading that way...so tired but so happy about how this week has gone.

Doris, I'm so sorry about your friend. Cancer is such a terrible disease. Some people do so well and stay well for years and years. At other times, people go quickly. It's not fair at all. I hope your cold/cough will heal soon.

Michele, it's hectic to take down one set of decorations and put others up right away. I'm sure your new year's decorations will be lovely! Here's to finishing up the students and having down time. I get a free Starbucks coffee or food for my birthday...I always think of you when I go there!

It's wonderful to hear that this Christmas has been an easier time for you, Brenda. I'm so glad. Do whatever you feel like with the cards, your friends, etc. Only you will know what 'works' each and every day! I hope this will be the start of a great new year for you!

It was a lovely birthday with all my children, grandchildren, my daughter's MIL, one sister and her husband! I got some really nice things. I always feel bad for my poor kids. They have to 'do' something two days in a row. Come be with me and figure out two gifts! Not that they have to, but they usually do. I really have enjoyed this holiday season...and even with the messes and my house being chaotic, I'm truly blessed. Thank you for all your wonderful friendships, too!

Mary, it sounds like you've moved into birthday mode!! Hope it's been a great day. And, yes, little ones do help to keep our minds occupied so we're not sad.

I finally tried doing a little cleaning of my floors but found that I'm still not getting enough air to do much. I think the coughing is decreasing. I've taken nothing today except tylenol and my inhalers for my breathing.

It's been a damp, dreary, cold day today. We just stayed inside except for a trip to get pizza.

Brenda, I'm so glad you had a break-through Christmas! Life is good when you live near people you enjoy spending time with. Donna is back home today after being gone 10 days and I'm sure glad.

We have a friend who is a little younger than us who had breast cancer. She had started a new medicine and ended up dying on Christmas morning. We were not expecting it. Services will be Saturday morning.

John, I'm with you on getting back to routine. I have so much that needs doing since I've felt rotten for 2 weeks and have done very little. Maybe I'll get a little done each day until I'm caught up again.

I am at Tad's office ( his parents' house) right now in Tokyo.

I am happy for you that Christmas is getting a little easier. We have already taken down our Christmas tree & decorations as we have to get ready for traditional New Years day here.

BONNIE
how I do wish that Tad could be there to help you! I had the very same problem about 5 years ago.. tad had to replace the entire bathroom floor & door as well as put a new toilet in just b/c of a leak! that happens a lot in old houses., although my house is only 29 1/2 years old.

MARIelle
glad that you had a good celebration. The holidays, esp the driving can be exhausting!

John, I am glad that Christmas is over. I have a new mile post as far at Christmas goes. My Christmas cards are still on my door. Usually, as soon as I come home for Christmas dinner I take them down because Christmas was over.. But I did not feel that way yesterday when I came home. Maybe I will leave them until New Year's day. Christmas this year was not so traumatic for me. It must be my new friends here in my building and definitely because of all of you on the team,

Thank you all for your support.

We are supposed to have the monthly residents meeting today and make our calendar of activities for January. Laurie is not here yet so we will just play it by ear. She may be snowed in or stuck on the freeway.

Our snow on the roads is melted but it is probably still icy.

Bonnie, $700 isn't all that much for all the work that needs to be done on your bathroom according to fees in our state. I am glad you found a new handy man and I hope he works out for you.

Mary, Happy Birthday with your family today. I forgot to tell you congratulations on paying off your house. That is a big load off your mind.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi, my wonderful Sparklers! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate! My family came Christmas Eve for lunch and gifts. I went to church yesterday, then we had other family members come over. Today is my birthday, with MORE fun! All the kids and grandkids will be here, plus my son in law's parents, my middle sister, and her husband! We're having Thai take-out, so no one has to cook. It's been so hectic but so wonderful for me. This week of Christmas has blessings and sadness with the loss of so many of my loved ones in the last few years. But having all the sweet little ones around has made it wonderful at the same time!

I only had time to read Marielle's post with all the wonderful holidays. If you ever watched Seinfeld, an old family favorite from my kids' younger years: don't forget Festivus!!

Hope you can get back into your routine. It does help to have one.

MARIELLE

Glad your day was good. But I understand about being tired from it all. I enjoyed every minute, but am glad today that it is over.

MICHELE

Hope you have some warmer weather.

We are about to go into almost a week, at least of very cold temps, around zero, hoping not lower, but we shall see. I heard on the news today that there will be a snow storm on New Years Ever, so have decided that I will stay home.

The handyman came just now. My bathroom has several problems. My wax seal on my toilet has been leaking, and the floor is rotten. Also a small leak in the bathtub drain. I am not terribly surprised, He is going to fix several other small issues for me as well. It will cost me $700.00. Hopefully that is a bit high, but I am glad that it will be done. I am just happy to have someone to do it. He is going to bring some flooring samples, and he will put a new floor down as well.

He is a licensed plumber and electrician. I will be glad to have him on call.

Keep warm my friends.

Michele, sorry your card was so late But belated happy birthday. emoticon

Everyone seems to have had a good Christmas day. It was fine for me. We drove down to ex's house. Took about and hour +; visited and ate and then drove back. It seemed long and exhausting to me, but was a "Christmas gesture" of love and giving so it was good in that sense. Ex's wife's daughter just had a baby, 7 days old and she also has a 2 year old. They were absolutely adorable. They brought joy to my heart.

Hi All:

Merry post Christmas. I trust everyone had a happy holiday. It is now time to take a breath and relax. I was thinking Christmas is really a mom's holiday. Not that mom gets to take a break but a holiday that moms everywhere love to prepare for their families. As a non mom I do appreciate the holiday and the hard work involved. God bless the moms in this world.

Merry Christmas.

I am getting into my routine again and will try to do better.

John.

Sounds as though you all had a nice day.

I made some more chocolate cookies and frosted sugar cookies again today. I had mixed up a batch of chocolate chip on Friday, and have baked them yesterday and today to share. Natalie and Zach love the chocolate chip. Frosted some of the sugar cookies that I had in the freezer. Amy likes those the best. I think I will do that again next year. It was nice to have fresh baked cookies, and freshly frosted cookies. Not a lot of work for me though

I had put my roasts in the crock pot yesterday, so they were nice and tender and lots of gravy fro the onion soup mix and the cream of celery and cream of mushroom soups.

Peeled my potatoes early afternoon, and put them on to boil. Mashed them and then everything was already.

We ate at 4pm. Zach's girlfriend Missy was unable to come over because her father is very ill, and she and her mom had to stay with him today.

They brought me a nice gift. Two bags of fancy coffee beans, little boxes of candy, and a gift certificate for Krogers.

So nice. Natalie brought me a bag with some of the goodies she had made.

I don't really buy gifts for people, so I don't expect them, but the kids always think of me. I give all of the children in my life a special ornament each year.

Then they have them for the trees when they grow up. Jessica said she used all of hers this year on her tree.

Natalie put all of the food away, and put stuff in the sinks. I rinsed the dishes and put them in the dishwasher and I am running it now.

Washed the pots and pans and wiped of the counters, so kitchen is in pretty good shape.

It was a lovely day. God Bless my friends. Love to you all

The weather report was wrong about the snow because it has started snowing big flakes. I doubt it will stick.. Big flakes means it is warming up.

We had a nice dinner, about 15 attended. Margie's daughter and niece and nephew joined us. There was plenty of food and desserts. I did not eat any of the desserts or candy.

The ham turned out really good and it was not salty at all. I gave the bone to Janie for soup and brought the rest of the ham home to use for Sandwiches for another day. if I had left it downstairs in the refrigerator, someone would take it all home. At times like this I wish I still had my meat slicer.

that is wonderful that you could "talk" to your family.
We did as well on our "line" app on our phone There is a video section so we can actually see while we talk.

your Birthday card just came today (Christmas) thank you!

What kind of cookies did you make?

Today Tuesday I will go to the mall ( yes by bike!) to look for New Years cards. They are the big thing over here. It is going to be a nice day!

Merry Christmas to everyone! We are having a quiet day at home, watching Christmas shows from Branson, MO. Lunch will be ready soon.

We have Facetimed with the Dallas bunch and seen pictures where the English crew went to view the royal family. They were able to get really close to them as the royal family walked down a sidewalk--must be a tradition there? I'd never heard of it before, but they were happy that they got so close. This grand daughter is making the most of her time in England!

Hope it's a good day for all of you!

May this be a day of peace and hope for everyone. Merry Christmas! "Not a creature is stirring" at my house and it's 7:30~~ but I need to start making cookies! I don't know if my sister in law is coming for lunch or just for dessert. If it was just my son's family and me, I would let the messes stay as they are and just pick up for the dessert crowd, lol. But we do have a lot of toys and gifts lying around. Yesterday was a lovely time. I hope today will be, too.

Blessings to all,

Michele, I think Seattle area got a lot more snow than we did here in the valley. We may have an inch. It is the ice that is bad with all the hills and fast traffic.

I got some of the stockings hung on the doors but I have to wait now until the card players are done. There are too many people roaming the halls. That surprised me. I thought everyone was in bed by 9 or sooner.

I will try again in about a half hour.

Glad you are enjoying your camera. Enjoy your day of leisure.

MICHELE

So sorry that you have lost your dad. This can be a very tough time of year.

MARY

H\ope that you enjoy your time at church and that your celebration tomorrow is great.

MARIELLE

Hope you enjoy your movie. I hope things work out for you to be able to have more private time.

It snowed here quite a bit today. The roads are not cleared off yet, so going to my mom's and coming home was a bit tricky. It was actually worse going home.

I won't be going out tomorrow. My friends Amy and her kids come here for Christmas dinner. It is our tradition.

I have my roast in the crockpot. It is smelling very good. I will make mashed potatoes, and Amy will bring a salad.

I will bake some chocolate chip cookies in the morning. I have them in the refrigerator already mixed up. I also have some sugar cookies in the freezer. I will take some out and frost them.

Amy will bring stuff that she has made, and we will have a lovely time.

Hopefully the roads will be better tomorrow. I guess it is supposed quite a bit more. Not sure just how much.

My Christmas at my mom and dad's house was lovely.

It was so nice to have my niece Jessica and her mom, Gloria, my SIL here. Have not had Christmas with them for more that 14 years or so.

The kids were all so sweet tonight. Gracee came in and came right to me and gave me a big hug and kiss and a bit of a cuddle. She asked me if she could hang out with me next week. I was thrilled.

I will enjoy that so much.

Dinner was good, we had a nice loving time together. Could not have asked for more.

Truly blessed.

The kids got me a Christmas candle. Very pretty. Ang and Chris gave me a pretty necklace.

God Bless you all.

my kids were raised Catholic--went to church faithfully every Sunday. I was a CCD teacher. Taught them all of the prayers. Did Advent, Lent etc. None of them go to church.
annie & CHristopher can not to be fair, b/c of their jobs.

I was crying ( not boo-hoo crying) in church while they were singing the carols today; Tad said that I sing like Dad did---off key, loud & very enthusiastic. he was asked to join the church choir several times.

Oh! how I do miss him so!

Merry Christmas Mary and to your family. It snowed from 1pm to 5 pm and I got some good pictures on my digital camera. I hope I can figure out how to post them It got dark at 5.

I have been watching old movies all day long while I am crocheting. All is quiet here. Joice reserved the community room for her family visit and then Pastor Bob had Vespers from 4:30 to 5:30.. He is not my kind of preacher. I went to one of his services to see what he does and I got palpitations. I don't know what kind of Church he has.

Mary, my children never went to church after they moved out. They went to Catholic schools and church every Sunday. At least you can go and pray for all of your family.

Have a great day with everyone tomorrow.

Hi, sweet friends! Merry Christmas! I barely skimmed the posts...two of the families have gone on to other activities. Ashley is nursing Mavrey, Chris is feeding David, and Mimi is collapsed on the couch! I have to do laundry so Ashley can do another load of baby things. The house was nicely cleaned up just in time for everyone to arrive but it's filled with wonderful gifts and the remains of wrapping paper and bows, a great lunch, and lots of love! I will go to 11:00 Mass tomorrow morning---alone. This will be the first time in my whole life that I will go alone on Christmas. My kids don't go anymore and I decided not to ask them this year. Everyone seemed quite fine with that. Sooooo....I will go alone and come home to make honey baked ham sandwiches. One sister/family will come for dessert and I invited my line dancing teacher and her husband to join us. They are Jewish and didn't have family plans. The husband said he didn't need to see any rugrats, lol! I think the 2 who are with me might win him over!

Merry Christmas and blessings for a good 2018. i'll try to get back tomorrow sometime!

Brenda, no snow in sight for us here. I sure hope Flagstaff gets some soon for their skiing and the water table.

Michele, not sure-Denis is still recuperating from the surgery and is on crutches, but he has to go up or downstairs to use the bathroom anyway and it would just be more private..........

take care all.

Going to movie soon.

Merry Christmas Eve. It is 1 pm and it started snowing a few minutes ago. Coming down sideways very small flakes, that means it is very cold out.

I dug my Kodak Slice camera out and am trying to remember how it works. I got some pictures of the snow through my window. And my Jeep in the parking lot at the front of our building. It is starting to stick beside the road.

do have a good time at your parents'!

MARIELLE
will Denis be leaving any time soon? Is it time to ask him to leave?
I like to get up & have the space/time to myself as well. I need that to start my day, otherwise I am grumpy the rest of the day!

DORIS
sorry you lost your post. that did happen to me just last week.

JOHN
God bless dear Ron's heart! I'm so glad for you that you have such a good role model! It makes Christmas seem all the better, doesn't it?!

I am at Tad's parents' house ( tad's office is here) now. We will go to 8 am mass this morning ( Monday here) it is a regular day here---no holiday in Japan.

Tad has to work & kids are all still in school until today. Their winter vacations start after today. New Years is the big, big holiday here.

After mass I'll run home & get a lot of errands done. The Christmas tree +& decorations will come down this week b/c we have to put up the New Years decorations in their place

Morning all,
DD got back early today. I have to say I am getting tired of Denis, her ex, sleeping in the living room. It is irritating not to be able to go up in the morning and just make tea with no one around. This morning I am having pomegranate/lemon tea. I taste just a hint of lemon. I had cream of wheat for breakfast. I love hot cereal in the winter: I like oatmeal, cream of wheat and Malt O Meal.

Bonnie glad it was easy to get to the airport in the snow. I don't like to drive in the snow. emoticon

Brenda glad your "feast" turned out good. I think it is wise to kind of back off and let others do things. Sorry Jody felt things were "taken away from her"> emoticon

John, glad you enjoyed your friend Ron. He sounds awesome. You also sound pretty positive to me. emoticon

Michele, I am glad you were able to celebrate you MIL's death day and it was good. I know it is hard to be the "matriarch" in a clan but I know you do a great job!! emoticon

Mary, Merry Christmas with family!! emoticon

Doris, Enjoy Christmas!! emoticon

Betty-Have a joyous Christmas! emoticon

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Happy Holidays to all!!

It is a blessing to have a friend who is spreading cheer. I am glad that you enjoy his company.

Feel better. God Bless.

BRENDA

Hope you ham is nice and that you all enjoy it.

MICHELE

I really don't mind driving in the snow anywhere nearly as much as I did years ago. I could still drive in the snow, but the cars now have so much more control in the bad weather.

My VW handles very well, and the turning ability is amazing. I think they have a small wheel base, because I can turn around just about anywhere.

I don't drive if I don't need to, but I don't mind it unless there is a lot of freezing and black ice. Nothing is good in that weather.

Well, going to bake a few cookies now, and just hang out until time to go to my mom and dad's.

God Bless all.

Hi All: Merry Christmas. It is not raining now but will this evening. The temp is cool but not cold. I am going to spend a quiet day doing cleaning chores around my room and watching the tube again. Headed over to Walmart to see if I can find some vitamins with extra iron.

My friend Ron who is always cheerful was cheerful again at McDs this morning. In fact he is so good at it he attracts people to sit with him and talk. It is amazing how well it works. I of course enjoy his company and wish I was as cheerful. He is a retired police office which make it even more amazing. Having dealt with the worst of our citizens in life threatening situations he is still the most cheerful person I know. It is SO unexpected. He was on swat for many years. He breaks the mold for sure.

I am tired so I will just head on home.

Have a wonderful Christmas eve everyone. See you tomorrow.

Michel, the ham that Marge cooked is boneless and from the food bank. I have eaten some pretty salty hams in my life. Laurie bought the one I am cooking (actually just heating up because it is fully cooked) is a Spiral Cut Ham which means it is pre sliced around the bone. I have never cooked one of them. I told Janie I will give her the ham bone for soup. I think the one we had last year was salty. I will let you know on Monday.

Bonnie, i am glad you made it to the airport and home safely. Have a great weekend.

It is going on 10:30 and am on my way to bed. I hope I don't wake up the snow in the morning. emoticon

glad that your time turned out well. And glad that the snow was not much! I used to have to drive in that stuff, too. It was awful!

BRENDA
I hope the rest of your holiday is a good one. I would not want to be compelled to do something that I did not want to, either.
I didn't know that ham could be non-salty

And yes, the wet towels are for moisture. Tad used to do it all of the time when he was travelling.

I had a lovely day today, but I am exhausted tonight.

It was snowing when I woke up. It was not supposed to snow until tomorrow. It was not a bad snow though.

I had no trouble getting to the airport to pick up Jessica. The pickup timed out perfectly. She was there a bit early, and I was able to get right to her with no problem We were lucky. My mom said that she heard that today was the busiest day for travel of the year.

There was a lot of traffic, but I was grateful that someone was taking care of us.

We stopped at the fish market and picked up the fish for mom for dinner tomorrow. She fries fish for Christmas Eve dinner for all of us.

Normally one or several of my brother Gary's friends will bring them enough fish in the fall and winter when they catch them, that we have enough for Christmas Eve. One of my brother's friends, BJ, died of ALS about a year and a half or two years after Gary died. His other friend, Jim, has cancer and has not been fishing as much, and Gary Mercer has had some issues too.

Jim, and Gary were at our house a lot, so I felt that I had 4 brother's instead of 2. They kind of out numbered me.

The four of them lived the "good life", and I am afraid that as they grew older, their health suffered. Only two of them left now. Such a shame.

Anyway, mom had ordered fish for dinner. So, after we picked that up, Jessica and I went to breakfast. She treated me to breakfast. That was so sweet.

We has such a lovely visit. She is a lot like me, she has a boyfriend, and I think they may get married one day, but neither of them want children. Her brother has 3, and the last baby was just born a month or so ago.

Gloria rented a car and she drove from the airport and came to pick up Jess at mom and dad's so they could go and see the baby and the kids.
They were going back to mom and dad's to spend the night. They will probably stay there most nights.

I came home, and took a shower and changed my clothes, and went to Derek's 40th birthday party.

Had a lovely time, and he was touched and surprised at the party. lot's of friends there an I stayed longer than my back should have, but it was worth it. I am very sore now, and am sitting with my hot pack on my back.

I will be ok in the morning.

Trish went out with our friend Marco and had a good time. They wanted me to go too, but she had forgotten that I had Derek's party. We are going to have a nice Christmas Lunch next week, and go to the nice restaurant where Landon, Trish's son, works. that will be fun.

MARIELLE

Hope that your travel is not too much for all of you, and that you have a lovely Christmas time.

Glad that your daughter was able to have a break. Merry Christmas

DORIS

Glad you are better, and will have a nice quiet Christmas. I can imagine that you were not happy at all with the drug store. There is really no excuse for them to not have let you know. I used to work in a pharmacy years ago, and I would have always called and told you not to come. Sigh.

Merry Christmas .

MARY

I, too am excited that your house is paid off. What a wonderful feeling. I will have to live until I am 96 in order to pay my house off. I feel that is my incentive to stay alive. LOL

I am sure you will be exhausted when the kids go home, but I really hope that you can enjoy your time with them, and your Christmas.

BRENDA

Glad you had a nice party today. Hope the rest of your Holiday is wonderful Merry Christmas.

So nice that Jody gave you a gift to tell you that she appreciates you. Glad that worked well for you.

Merry Christmas.

MICHELE

Sounds as though you and Tad are having a nice time together. It is so good when a couple can enjoy their time after the children are gone. Have a wonderful Christmas together.

Hope that Annie feels better. Has to be tough to fly with a cold. Very miserable I am sure.

JOHN

I certainly hope that you begin to feel better. Hoping that the things you are doing will be helpful, but if you are not better, please get to the Dr. If you can't wait for the Dr, go to the ER.

Merry Christmas to you. Have a wonderful holiday.

God Bless you all and keep you safe. You are all very important to me.

No, Michele, being the stocking lady is not fun for me and I am tired of doing most of the work here. We worked three or four days making the stockings, then Debbi and I had to go shopping for the stocking stuffers, then we had to fill them. This is not a fun project for me and I am not happy having to put all the stockings on the doors. It was all Jody's idea and she bailed. Call me Scrooge, Christmas is not my thing to do.

The ham we had today was not salty at all. I just ate a small piece and it was good. Margie put pineapple slices on it and mixed the juice with brown sugar and poured that over the ham like I told her to. She is still learning to cook at age 66.

The festival sounds like fun. I don't like crowds or going out at night either.

How nice that Tad got the Starbucks card for Father's Day. I have never been to Star Bucks except to buy a travel coffee mug several years ago.

I have never heard of putting out wet towels for a cold. I guess that adds moisture to the room?

I do hope that you ave a good time! Tad does not like the driving, either. That is good thing about living here---we can take a train, bus or taxi.
I can not eat ham either, as it has too much sodium for me. Nor biscuits & gravy. But the soup sounds delicious!

BRENDAWhat a wonderful gift for Janie. It seems with all of the food that goes around, no one ever would go hungry.
Again--I am glad for you that you did not say anything to Jody.

The stocking lady? That sounds like fun. I don' t mind sour anything. I like sour fruit better than sweets nowadays.

Tad & I went downtown Yokohama to a Christmas German Festival. The night time is supposedly very pretty with all of the lights, illuminations, but neither one of us like crowds, so we went this morning. Mostly food booths, & a lot of souviner stores. Fun to look at however. It felt like real Christmas.

He is going to make another pot roast tonight. I will make a plain 'ol cabbage salad with lots of other vegetables in it. We treated ourselves to Starbucks---Tad got a free drink card with lots of $ on it for Father's Day this year.

Now, time for a nap, then my kindle.

We called Annie on "line" ( the phone app here) she is working the Eve & Christmas day flights. She said she has a cold & feel lousy.

I told her to put wet towels in the hotel where she is staying over night & take h er sudafed when she goes to bed.

Marielle, I asked God to shut my mouth so I did not blast Jody. i just did not talk to her much because I was afraid what I might say.. She did tell me that the reason she did not help was that Laurie took it away from her and started doing things. That was not the case at all because things had to be done and it all takes time. Laurie told Jody that Christmas was very hard on me. She told me she did not know that so I guess that justified why she did not help.

I still have to take the cart around to every door tomorrow night around 10 and hang the stockings on every door. It is supposed to be a surprise for everyone but of course. many know about it but do not know what is in the stockings/ The five bags of oranges that Debbi bought spoiled in Laurie's refrigerator. because Debbi did not listen to me when I told her two weeks ahead of time was too soon to buy them.. They got thrown away because they got soft. I tried one but it was very sour.

I am glad your rash is finally going away. That is a long time to have a rash.

I am not a fan of Star Wars. I think I only saw it once when it first came out. Not my cup of tea.

John, that is a great idea to soak your clothes in the cooler.

Michele, Your celebration for your MIL was so nice to hear about. The food sounds really good except the sushi. I have never had any and it does not sound good to me. I don't eat raw fish.

I would not like to be a head of household either, Michele.

There was the normal Saturday morning breakfast downstairs where they had biscuits and gravy, then we had a 1 pm potluck because we cannot have one tomorrow. Joice has reserved the community room because her family from Eastern WA is coming to visit her.

Margie cooked one of the hams from the food bank, I took a pot of baked beans and others took fruit and cookies. Janie made a big pot of barley vegetable hamburger soup. Only a few showed up for that so we have a lot of leftovers. I brought a big cup of soup home and thick slice of ham and the rest of the baked beans. With all the leftover's lately I don't have to cook much. There was only 7 of us to eat. It was a last minute decision by Margie.

I finished the other potholder while i was sitting down there and then gave the pair to Janie for her birthday on Christmas day. She usually goes to her family in Tacoma but with that train derailment and snarled traffic she will go the middle of Jan for her son's birthday instead.

It is still very cold outside but no snow here so far.

Doris, people here have trouble getting their meds all the time. Especially the diabetics trying to get their test strips for their blood monitor's. I don't know what the problem is but doctors will order them and then the pharmacy will refuse to fill the order. I hope you got your prescription filled.

Maria lives across the hall from Margie and she is taking care of Jody's cat, Simon. Margie's door was open and her daughter's little cat started hissing and snarling and Margie did not know what was going on until she saw Simon had walked in to her apartment to visit. Then Maria went running in to get him. It was funny.

Hi I read the posts again.

John I hope you get the blood out. I am going to have to get out some grease stains, they are the bane of my existence. LOL. So I have to get more dish soap to spot clean them and also use baking soda on them.

Brenda, nice you got something from Jody. Are you glad you didn't blast her for the stocking stuffing thing? Hope you have a nice Christmas. We have to drive down to my ex's Christmas day for dinner. No one really wants to go-it's the driving. If I could twitch my nose there and then home again I wouldn't mind it so much. The are having "Boston Chicken"--actually I think he ordered ham with the fixings. I won't be eating much ham as it isn't on my kidney diet. Have to stay away from cured meats, including ham--too much sodium.

Mary, hope all goes well for you for the next 3 days. We are going to see Star Wars the Last Jedi tomorrow (Christmas Eve). Of course I am a sci fi fan. I've seen every Star Wars when it came out. Youngest GS (Miles) is looking forward to going.

Michele, nice you will go to church on Monday (tomorrow for you). I hope you enjoy your walk to and from. Sounds like a nice peaceful day

Doris, sorry they didn't have your script when you got to Waco. That is a bummer.

My dermatologist ordered a new prescription for my ongoing rash of about 2 years. She said this would end it. It is called Betamethasone Dipropionate Lotion. It is working really well. The rash is almost totally gone. Cannot believe I've dealt with this rash, itching, etc for 2 years to have it gone in about 3 days with a different med.

how frustraiting that is! I am sorry for your trouble!
Glad you were able to get your other stuff done! Enjoy your game!

JOHN
that is a good plan. Do you have plans for Christmas or the rest of the year? i wish I could fly you over here to spend it with Tad & I! New Years is such a wonderful celebraton here!

Thank you for asking about Tad's mom's 8th anniversary celebration! it was so wonderful, peaceful, joyous to spend it with his relatives! His brother & wife, Aunt uncle were there. Plus my son Ben & Kaoru.

A few other cousins dropped in during or before their work schedules so we got to see some other family members.

we had roast, sushi, salads of various kinds, I was happy . The fact that I don't speak perfect japanese was ok. Tad & I are now the "head" of the family since his parents are gone ( his mom was the oldest of 6 siblings so she & Tad's dad were the head until Tad's dad' death last year April)

I do not like this "head of the family" responisbility. Everyone looks up to us for the answers. I do not have them nor the wisdom of other things. I rely on all of you for that!

Brenda, it sounds like you have a great plan to do your share with the ham but not get caught up into being in charge. And I'm glad Jody expressed her appreciation for all you do. They recognize it but don't always help as they should.

John, try not to think too much about your loss of blood. You are doing the best you can until you get a blood test to show if you're anemic. When I was severely anemic a long time ago, I thought I might be having a heart attack. My head felt like it wasn't doing it's job--lack of oxygen, I guess. They gave me prescription iron tablets and it did begin to help fairly soon. You only have a few more days until the offices open again. Just don't over extend yourself during that time. Will you be home for Christmas?

Mary, if you can survive the mess, you can clean up when they all leave. Then you can get things back in order and live in the adult world again!

Michele, how was your family celebration for Tad's mother's life?

Marielle, I bet "interesting" is inadequate for describing having your daughter's ex there! They will probably all enjoy the time apart.

Bonnie, enjoy all your visitors! Is your friend having any success in finding a job there?

We went into Waco to pick up 2 prescriptions only to find out they had to order one of them but didn't let me know it wasn't there. I wasn't happy at all since it's a 30 minute drive, one way. We did eat lunch at Catfish King and pick up a few things at HEB. Now the state playoffs are on TV again so we're watching.

I too, hope you survive it all! When this is over, you MUST treat yourself in some way!

BRENDA
Tad's older aunt---she must be about your age--is very wise! She has advised us over & over about KEEPING ONE'S MOUTH SHUT. You did the right thing about Jody. To have said something would have started something bad. And they may have not been fixable.

You are wonderful!

JOHN
thanks for the love wishes. The same to you, dear friend

Tad & I will be by ourselves this Christmas. Ben & his wife ( b/c of HER) do not celebrate Christmas. Tad is in kind of dumpy mood b/c of the way Ben treats him.

Oh, Ben will figure it out one day, I just hope he does before it's toolate.

We will go to church on Monday morning. It is a regular day here, but we'll walk the 20 minutes ( mostly uphill) from his parents' house to the church. Then back again.

At least the weather is nice!

John, it may be hard to get a hold of the doctor in between holidays but I hope someone will answer the phone and be able to answer your questions. I totally understand that you don't have spots of blood to clean up. Maybe just putting them into a bucket of cold water and some detergent will help get the stains out. Or if you have a bathtub, that would work too. When I lived in a garage apartment, I just had a shower.

Have a good day.

Just a quick check in again. I went to Kroger and got everything I need (I hope!) for the next 3 days. When I walked in the door the kids said they were going shopping again and asked me to stay with the little ones! Thank goodness everyone is asleep but I need to start cleaning and picking things up. They told me they wouldn't do that until tomorrow because it will just get messed up again, but I need to plan and at least get the table set. It's filled with baby things, a car seat, and a half cup of coffee on my brand new Christmas table runner. Calgon, take me awaaayyyy!!

All in good time...and with the help of my friends.

Well, after all the bad things I said about Jody not helping me. I found a gift from her hung on my door last night. A bag of homemade Chex Mix and a small loaf of bread (either banana or zucchini) with a nice card thanking me for helping her when she was sick and taking her places.

She called me from the train about an hour ago but I could not hear her so she said she will call me back later. She never knew how mad I was at her over the Christmas stocking stuffing. Kept my mouth shut.

Margie just popped in to ask me how to cook the ham for lunch today. I gave her a can of pineapple slices, some toothpicks and a cup of brown sugar. Seems Janie and her decided to make the lunch today so I won't eat very much for breakfast. Actually it is almost lunch time and all I have had is a cup of coffee. I'll just eat a banana for now.

The sun is out, no snow and it is 38F. I had not planned on going downstairs today but I might as well join them.

Mary, I hope you survive the holiday's with all your company. When we went to visit family , way back when, for holidays, I pitched in and helped with meals and clean up and kept the toys picked up. I had five children then.

How great that your house is paid off and that your son went with you for support. I know it is a big load off your shoulders.

Marielle, It is good your daughter got to visit her friend and relax for a couple of days. Our temps for Christmas day will be in the 30's. They are saying to look after neighbors and make sure they have heat and food.

Doris, I hope your are feeling better and your cough is not so bad. I will be on here everyday so will chat with you and Michele for sure.

Bonnie, you sure are busy with all the parties and everything else going on. Never a dull moment for you. I am a homebody. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Mary: Glad you are having a great time and have so many family members to visit. My parents had a small house so people seldom stayed there except us. I hope the young ones behave for you and are happy and quiet. Congrats on paying the house off. This is wonderful. NO more mortgage payments.

Brenda: Fixing the ham at your place is a great idea. Then walking in just before dinner should play out well. Everyone will be so glad to see your ham. And you too.

Michele: I will check out the John Hopkins website. I plan to call the doctor early next week to see about a blood test. I have changed my diet to more meat, green leafy vegees, fruit, and dairy products. And I take a multi vitamin now daily. It seemed to make me feel good when I took it, almost immediately. I bought peroxide but the task is not spot clean but more like a lot of cloth so I will soak every couple of days and hand rinse before laundry.

Merry Christmas: You are loved more than you know.

John.
