KATHY and STEVE

If we could only all afford a summer place together that would be great. I know I could never leave Toledo, because at this point in my life I cannot leave my family. I think this has been brought much closer to my heart in the last couple of years because I have lost 2 cousins whom I was very close to.

But, Summer vacations and breaks would be great!

STEVE

I sure hope tha something shows on the MRI to give you some release.

LIMA

Only thing I know about any kind of plumbing, from working at the water dept, is make doubly sure that all of you joinings are as water tight as possible before filling the hole. I suspect you already know that. I would never be able to take on such a job, so KUDOS to you.

KATHY

Glad you had a good nights sleep, I know how important that is. Have a wonderful and productive day today.

Have a wonderful day today all of my friends, even if we are not living together in the same area, I carry you all in my heart.

Bonnie

This community is just one of the best around. I wish we truly lived in the same neighborhood! Can you imagine the fun evenings of chatting and healthy eating we'd have?? :-)

Bonnie-I'm so glad you had such a nice evening of fun and laughter! Enjoy your day today!

Limastar-You always seem to have one major project after another going! DO you ever run out of energy?? Please give me some of yours!! Have a safe trip back to VA! I hope your son remembered to water your plants while you were gone! How long have you been in CA?

Donna-Are you just going to AK to visit or to live?? I think that would be such a gorgeous place to visit during the summer months!

Lista-I was in Minneapolis for two weeks a few years ago for a training. I was from SC at the time and they complained about it being hot in Minneapolis (it was July, I think), but it really wasn't bad -at least to me it wasn't since I was from SC! The heat and humidity in that area (SC) really gets bad. I loved Minneapolis! I enjoyed walking (I lost 5 pounds in two weeks from walking so much!) and being a tourist when I was not busy with the grueling two week training (training to be better therapists for chemically dependent deaf and hard of hearing folks). The area has so much to offer!

Steve-I'm sorry to hear the pain has not subsided yet! :-( I hope you find relief very soon. I'm sure you are anxious to get back into your normal routine and it must be frustrating to not be able to do what you want to do!

I slept very well last night, so am looking forward to a productive day of cleaning and doing a short run! I'll check in later. :-)

Good morning y'all! I looked at the larger beef steak tomatoes and they are no special type of tomato and they just are bad. There is a chance I can make a sauce out of them. They are all mushy too. Maybe I should have put more fertilizer in the soil. My pain is worse this morning and it looks like it is not getting better. I have no idea if there is a fix for this except pain pills of some sort. I'm hoping time will cure it. In a few days, I'm having an MRI done. I have never had one done before. Well, off to make my oatmeal this morning. Happy spark'n y'all. Stevegolfdog

Last year I planted some tomato plants here in CA, but left in August to go back to VA, so only had a few to eat. This year I planted them in VA, but am in CA. Don't know how they're growing, but hoping that youngest son is remembering to water them and that I'll be able to have a few before they all disappear. Before starting our trip to CA I was able to have one small ripe tomato and it was very tasty.

The bok choy bolted early because of the very hot weather. So didn't get much for eating. Not sure how the strawberries are doing, but the Rhubarb was doing very well in the pots when I left. If I'm lucky I might have some Rhubarb and Strawberries for a pie when I get back.

This is another eating out weekend. Dinner out with my sister & her family and my youngest brother & his wife. Tomorrow is breakfast with hubby's nephews and family. Then dinner out again with my sister & her husband.

In between I'm putting in a drip irrigation system in my mother's fruit tree garden with a timer so she doesn't have to worry about watering the trees in the heat. We're leaving this coming Thursday, so need to get it done by Wednesday. Youngest brother helped by digging the trenches to bury the line. Can't work on it tomorrow because we'll be out all day, but plan on working on it Monday and getting most of it done. Hoping to test the system on Tuesday.

Anyone have experience with drip irrigation systems?

Happy weekend to all.

This thread is still pretty chatty. I think the party kept us all going. Yea.

Went to see the show tonight, and it was very funny. I just laughed and laughed.

One of my friends, actually we went to college together, directed, and several of the people in the play are friends also. It was really a good performance and a great time.

Tired out just from laughing.
Am going to Mon Ami winery for brunch and music tomorrow with Amy and Debbie, and Debbie's friend from out of town. Should be a good time.

Better get to bed so I can get up!

Have a great Sunday all.

Donna - We were at the Minnesota Zoo today. Our granddaughter is 15 months old and is such a blessing. I live south of St. Paul in Hastings. I see you were a Minnesota girl. Where are you from? People don't understand how hot and humid it does get in Minnesota during the summer. It is not always cold and snowy here! And the mosquitos and whatever else wants to bite you are no fun.

It sounds as if your place is shaping up nice. I am glad you found a nice new BEDROOM Set and mattresses. There is nothing so horrible as not getting a good nights rest, and you can't if you have bad mattress.

I have done well myself today, on calls for a rental in AK, until my house can be built I have them prioritized as 1-3 even. I am waiting for pictures to be e-mailed to me on the number one place. It is on 2.85 acres, 4/3 and has a Garden spot. It is all set up for horses, so is in the country. Only, it is an hour away from where I will be building. #2 is fine, except it will be listed for sale, and I don't want to get moved in only to move again.
#3 doe not have a garage, but is right in town. I am sorry- You HAVE to have a garage in AK!

Hopefully, I will have all the info I need to make my decision w/in a week. As I will then move in a month. Now, Does anyone want to come help me pack and clean?

Yeah, I thought that would be your answer. emoticon

We had a great time at the zoo today with daughter, granddaughter and husband. A great deal of walking and it was getting pretty hot by the time we left. We went first thing in the morning to try to beat the heat.
Last year we decided to do a garden again and our dogs enjoyed all the vegetables before we could get them. The little snots ate the melons (looks like a ball!). Ate the cucumbers because they were tasty and then some other animals ate the tomatoes from the bottoms up. You thought you were picking a lovely ripe tomato and half of it was gone. Aaarrgghh! We were going to do it again this year and fence it off but never got around to it. Been getting a lot of freebies from friends and acquaintances. That works for me.

It sounds as if your Plum tomatoes have the "Blight".

Are you sure your Beefsteaks are not some sort of "Heirloom" Tomato" Many of them have yellow and green stripes as you describe.

I only have one cherry tomato this year as with my moving around, I can't be planting and leaving a garden behind. Although, this is the first year in about 4-5 that I have not had Volunteer Plum or Yellow Pear tomatoes.

Hi,

We are having a great time with our son. I think it has been 1 1/2 years since we have seen him. We just showed him around town today. He hasn't been here before. Tomorrow we are going to the Grand Canyon North Rim. I have been keeping my eating under control. I did make him some choc oatmeal cookies which are his favorites. Unfortunately he leaves Monday morning. Too short of a visit.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, Lynn

Howdy, y'all! Well, my tomatoes are looking awful. I think the plum tomatoes have a disease of some kind. When I cut into them, they all seem to have this black fungus inside of them. Some of the plants don't seem to have it though. The beef steak tomatoes look like they have leprosy on them. I can not find a one that is red and not yellowish with stripes on them. Last year, they were all great. So be it. Now I have to go post my dinner. Later, stevegolfdog

Oh my-I hope I can find energy to try a garden next year. We will have our backyard fenced in by then and that will keep the deer out.

We managed to find a wonderful bedroom set for our guest bedroom! We also bought a new mattress set for the room my DD and SIL use. I asked them a couple of weeks ago how the mattresses were and they said "awful". Oh my! I wish someone had told us before they were awful!! :-( SO in two weeks, they will have a much nicer mattress to sleep on. They were so appreciative! They deserve it..they both work so hard in school and their jobs. They hope to be able to afford to move out on their own by next summer. Anyway, I'm excited about having the second guest bedroom finished soon. The first week in Sept, we are going to take the week off and work on tearing down a wall in our kitchen. DH will tranform it into a wide arched doorway and then we are replacing the wood floors in the dining room and kitchen and hopefully the carpeting in the living room, hallway and stairs as well with much better quality wood flooring.

Boy, all of this garden talk is making me hungry. Since my entire backyard is deck, cement and pool, I have no where to put a garden. A couple of years ago, my roommate, Laura, tried to do some of those upside downs plants, but I think she should have purchased the real ones, hers did not work out too well.

She and Derek really don't have time, and my back could not take the gardening anyway, so I am just enjoying other peoples.

My aunt and uncle always plant the sweet cherry tomatoes, had some the other night, and ate them all in one sitting. Delicious. Have had peaches, yum, and regular tomatoes, blueberries, etc.

Must get to the farmer's market next Sat if I can get my butt out of bed!

DONNA

Sounds as though you have a wonderful plan for your retirement. Best wishes to you!

Had a wedding shower this afternoon. It was for a couple that work at both community theaters in my area, and so both theaters went together and has a surprise party. It was very nice, and good to see people I have not seen in a while. The Rep, one of the theaters has a show on tonight, Leading Ladies, it is a show from their winter season that they are reprising and I am going to go tonight. Should be fun.

Went to the Y and swam for 45 minutes after the party. They close at 5:00pm in the summer, so swam as long I could.

Hope you are all having a great weekend. I intend to!

This is your HEALTH ALERT: This is to everyone sweating in the sun tending their gardens, working out, or whatever. Be SURE to drink loots of water to replace the fluids you have lost. If you are working outside, losing a lot due to sweat, you probably need to replace some electrolytes, also. If you are just doing a regular workout, you probably do not need to replace electrolytes.

Please take care of yourselves, and watch out for others in the heat, also.

Thank You, and Have a Great Weekend!

Like Steve, I am sweating buckets. Who needs a sauna, just go outside.

Picked, veggies, deadheaded some flowers and set the sprinkler out. Hand watered some of my pots & hydrangas that can't get a hose to. My hostas look horrible as do the tomato plants. They are producing but have cut an awful lot of dead stuff off of them. Need to replant beans but will wait til weather cools a bit.

Need to shower before 4 pm services. Think I lost a pound in sweat.

Have a good one all! emoticon emoticon

Hello everyone. In keeping with the topic about gardens, I have a small one. In fact, I need to get out there today and do some harvesting and weeding. I have collard greens, tomatoes, lettuce, and sugar baby watermelon. The watermelon is not ready yet, but it is growing. The collards, lettuce, and a few tomatoes are ready to harvest. I love growing my own food. I have a desire to put together a green house for the winter months here in Michigan.

Yesterday we went to a friend's large garden and helped him to harvest some turnip and collard greens, kale, cabbage, chives, oregano, parsley, cucumbers, red peas, spearmint, peppermint, sage, and lemon balm. We had so much we had to give a lot away to others. Our friend loves to grow the food--not so much harvest it--so he invites others over to harvest for him while he weeds and maintains. I love fresh veggies.

I will check with you all later. To healthy eating.

I missed the Party too! Darn! I am just learning to remember I have e-mail here too. emoticon

Since I just relocated back to my current location after being gone with the Army the last seven years, and knowing I would only be here for 7-8 months, I with held my usual exuberance to plant Tomatoes, cukes, strawberries, herbs, etc in my patio garden. I did get one Patio tomato, but have to keep it small enough to go w/ me to AK. I have had a few ripe tomatoes, and they are great, so much sweeter than store bought ones.

My Chives don't do too well here, as it gets too hot in Central CA I have to bring most of my plants inside in the summer to keep them from getting Fried. My Geraniums, Aloe Vera and Pelagorums are doing fine though..

I just got off the Farmers Market site, and located all the local sites, growers in Kasilof, where I will be building my retirement home in AK. I will have my Herb Garden, by flower and Vegetable Gardens and my Green House. We have to put seven foot fences around our Gardens to keep the Moose out. I knew about the three Farmers Markets in Kenai, Soldotna and Homer, but wanted to connect more w/ the growers, since I will depend on them to help me acclimate the first year or two.

I am all ready connected with the Alaska Extension agency to make sure I get the hybrids that will grow in our area. I figure If I could grow it in MN, I can Grow it in AK, as it does not get as Cold where I will be in AK as it was where I grew up in MN. I can't wait to get started! emoticon

Have Great Weekend, Everyone!

Stevegolfdog,

Funny you should mention tomato plants out of control. We purchased tomato plants from a nearby nursery and I'm glad that I didn't also purchase the tomato cages. These tomato plants would have grown out of them in a heart beat!!! lol We live in a condo plan so there is little space for gardening. I planted them in a huge bag of soil (poked holes in the bag) alongside our deck rails. They have grown up taller than the rails and if they get any taller I'm going to have to find some telephone poles for them to grab onto! lol They are ripening slowly and because of the blight I pick them as soon as they start to ripen....then put them in brown paper bags and place in our basement. They ripen really nicely that way and so far they have been a real treat to eat and cook with.

Good luck with your harvesting. It sounds like you have the makings for a great super healthy stew, soup, or of course, tomato/spaghetti sauce. I've never seen okra plants before. Being a born and raised New Yorker I'm only familiar with my husband using them when he makes his jambalaya. We've lived in various southern cities.....Bristol, VA/TN, Meridian, MS, Memphis, TN, and have visited New Orleans a couple of times. My husband has a talent for picking up cooking techniques and using them with the wild game he hunts. Yum!!!

Take care and happy gardening!

Well, another spark'n day with gardening in the plan. Our vegetable garden is loaded with ripe red tomatoes now and I have to pick them and start making sauce to freeze and all. I can see salads in the future with lots of fresh tomatoes. Our veg garden is a mess and the past storms knocked over our bean polls and the stores were out of the wire tomato cages so we have lots of plants laying on the ground. I got some cages but it was too late to encircle the plants. Oh, well. I think I'm going to make it smaller next year. The okra plants are like weeds. They are amazing and just grow and grow. You have to catch the okra before the pods get to large. I finding that I can't eat them quick enough. Hahaha. I'll be sweating alot today it appears. Anyway, y'all have a great spark'n day and stay your course to reach your goals. Stevegolfdog emoticon

Boy, being without internet at the beginning of August really put me behind with you all. Thought I'd gotten onto the August Chat, but didn't & it took me a while to locate you all.

Sorry to have missed all the fun. But the last few weeks have sped by with all the things I've been doing around the house for Mom. Filled 10 yard bags with the limbs that I'd trimmed off her trees and other yard debris lying around that needed picking up. Got picked up this morning. Spent a lot of Friday getting my Dad's name off the Cell Phone account and putting my Mom's name as the principal. Took over 90 minutes and 5 AT&T Reps before it got done, as well as having to call twice because I got cut off.

Had to do the same with the Credit Cards, but it didn't take as long, just 60 minutes repeating the same information as for AT&T.

Now working on an irrigating drip system for Mom's fruit trees so she doesn't have to spent several hours watering her plants.

Have some more trimming to do before I leave next week, so trying to get the garden work done in between visiting various family members.

Work starts again the last Monday of August. Where has the summer gone?

Happy Weekend to All.

Thanks for the laugh, don't golf, but sure do get it about the site and memory problem. I am going to call my mom (the golfer) and read that to her. She will crack up.

LYNN

Glad you had a great day. I know going to get your son to spend some time with will be a great weekend for you and your husband. Have a wonderful weekend also.

KATHY

Glad you were able to get your run in. I went to the Y and did an hour on the recumbent cross trainer. My back has been bad all week, from walking on the uneven ground at the campgrounds this past weekend for my family reunion.

The crosstrainer seems to be able to losen those muscles with out straining them any more. Then went to Dr Mike for the 3rd visit this week and he adjusted me once then I had my therapies, and he adjusted me again. If I don't get better, it is not because he doesn't work hard at making me better.

Seem to be a little better tonight. Going back to the Y tomorrow.

DIANNED4

Sorry you missed the party also.

LISTA

SO, your husband is a mosquito magnet? Next time tell him to talk to you through the screen door!

Have a great time at the zoo tomorrow.

StillSlim

Sorry you missed the party too. Stuff happens.

For all of you who missed the party, you were missed. I am sure we will do it again soon, so maybe we should make it on a weekend next time.

Had a nice dinner with my friend Karen tonight. Went to a local lebanese restaurant. I always love food from that area of the world, and we have lots a great restaurants here in Toledo.

Karen, is my friend from college, we did not see each other for years, and then in 1991 when I began doing community theater for the first time since college, we met again. We try to see each other now at least once a month, if our schedules permit. She is a Vegan, so she likes to eat at the mediterraen restaurants also.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Goodnignt

I love a good party. That was fun. Just chilling tonight. Sitting out on the front porch with a somewhat tolerable less humid breeze, a glass of wine listening to a book on tape and crocheting. It was great. Until the mosquitos found me about an hour later. Is a coincidence that I was fine until my husband came out? He must have invited all those blood sucking critters.
Going to have a fun day tomorrow wandering around the zoo with my husband, daughter and granddaughter. Can't wait.
Have a good weekend.

The party was awesome! Good food, good company and good music (via drum circle)!! Who could ask for more?? And I loved the peaceful beach and stargazing as well.. I can't wait to do this again!

I got in 4 miles of running tonight. I had perfect weather for it: 75 degrees, overcast sky and gentle breeze. :-)

Sleep well and enjoy your weekend, everyone!

You have no idea how that hits home, LOL. When I play with my DW, we go looking for others golf balls and then when it comes to my DW's hit, she can't remember what she did off the tee or her second shot. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own game. That was funny, non the less. Thanks for the laugh. Now I got to go post my dinner. Have a good night, y'all. Stevegolfdog

Hi All,
The party was a huge success. I can't believe how many guests we had. And posts.

DH and I will be going to get one of our sons at the airport shortly. I had a great Friday....played MahJong for 5 hours then swam for an hour. We will pick up DS in Vegas at 8:30PM (West Coast time). I know we won't have a hard time finding somewhere to eat in Vegas. I will be very careful. I have been doing well this week. DS will only be here til Mon. He starts college next week in ND. His birthday is Tues he will be 22.

Bonnie.....all I can say is AMEN to your post.

Talk to you all tomorrow, Lynn

Well, it looks like I missed the party too!!

Nothing worse than meeting up with a great group of people but I'm in the midst of computer 'death' and am having to borrow my DH's home computer. It irks me no end to use it since he is the one who put my computer in the dry docks to work on it, and then left it there to die!!! So, I've swallowed my pride and crept in to use 'his' computer.

For all you golfers out there (yes, that definitely would include you Steve!) I have a joke for you:

A Golfer's Story

He's played golf every day since his retirement 25 years ago. One day he arrives home looking downcast.
"That's it," he tells his wife, "I'm giving up golf. My eyesight has got so bad, once I've hit the ball, I can't see where it went."
His wife sympathizes. As they sit down she says, "Why don't you take my brother with you, and give it one more try?"
"That's no good," sighs Arthur. "Your brother is a hundred and three years old. He can't help."
"He may be a hundred and three," says the wife, "but his eyesight is perfect."
So the next day Arthur heads off to the golf course with his brother-in-law.
He tees up, takes an almighty swing and squints down the fairway. He turns to the brother-in-law, "Did you see the ball?"
"Of course I did," says the brother-in-law, "I have perfect eyesight."
"Where did it go?" asks Arthur.
"I don't remember."

Hope you enjoyed it! Looking for that lost ball would surely up your exercise minutes for the day!!

OMG!!! I missed the party! emoticon

From what I have read, I missed a great time. Yesteday went so fast I didn't even get on the computer at all.

All that great food! Drink! Water balloons! Horseback riding, swimming! DANCING! My favorite thing to do.

Oh well, I enjoyed it thru all your posts. And so many new faces. And look at the time, after 7 on Friday. Took me 20 minutes just to read and laugh.

Bonnie: You are right. We all have to find our own way. Just don't quit! If one day is bad, the next will be better. Like we all say, One Day At A Time.

It will be a hot weekend around the Cleveland area, so I am sure DH and I will try to get up to the Y for some a/c exercise. Hot breeze blowin in off the lake. Just picked a slew of tomatoes off the vine. Lots of salads with this hot weather.

Have a great weekend all. Will check in. And thanks for all your posts. The party was great. emoticon

Thanks Gale for your input. I'm hoping it goes away, as well. We will see. In the mean time, I'm just dealing with it and taking my vicadin every 5 hours. Right now, it seems to be OK. It's interesting how it feels. Anyway, I'm having my BBQ steak for real, hahaha. See y'all and happy spark'n. Stevegolfdog

Yep it was a great party, thanks to all who make it so fun.

I have a couple of things to say regarding tracking your food, and weighing yourself.

First of all, I believe we all must find what works for each of us as an individual.

That said, I will tell what works for me. I generally weigh myself on a daily basis, before I eat breakfast. Now if I can't weigh before breakfast, I wait until the next day.

What this has done for me, is neutralize my mind against letting the scale be my one and only decider of my progress. I know that it will go up or down from day to day regardless of what I have done the day before. It is not an exact science. I know that I want to weigh, so this is how I have handled it, and it no longer upsets me.

As far as the tracking goes, the most difficult thing for me has been to learn to track EVERY day regardless of what I have eaten that day. I record everything I have eaten. I know that I will go over my calories, or not always be in the exact range of what I should be eating, but again, by tracking daily, I have also made myself immune to being upset about my food.

It is as though, I can just accept what was today, and then when tomorrow becomes today, again do the best that I can.

I have not lost all of the weight I want to lose, and need to lose. However, I am not gaining weight while I wait for my mind and body to adjust to where I am on my journey.

Last year, I gained 20 pounds. I did not gain back all 68 I had lost, I gained 20 pounds. Now, while I was not happy about it, it really was a victory for me because it is the first time in my life of "dieting" that I have gained weight back, and stopped.

I now have that 20 pounds off, and a couple more so that I have hit the 70 pound mark, that is why I so proudly put that on as my profile pic.

I am learning daily on my journey that I am not perfect, as I always felt I should be. Thas was before I began thinking differently from being on a "diet". I will never diet again.

I eat the best I am able for today, and forget yesterday, and let tomorrow alone until it is today.

It has taken a long time to rid my mind of the idea that I am "bad", because of what I eat, or what I weigh. I am still working on keeping a positive idea about who I am. But, I have done away, for the most part, with feeling guilty about what I eat. I used to punish myself with food because I overate. I no longer do that.

So, I guess what I am saying is realize that you are not defined by what you have eaten today, or yesterday, etc, or what the number is on the scale.

Actually, when I began SP, they suggested that I just record whatever I had eaten, with no thought of diet. I have learned to use the tracking, and the scale as tools, not things to make me feel badly about myself.

This journey has been so much more than "weight loss", or "dieting". It is about learning to live with who I am, and love me for whatever that may be.

The message boards, especially this one, and one other that I am on about every day, have helped me to define myself by the good I do in the world, not by some "accepted idea" of what I should look like.

I exercise as best I can, and if I have a setback, I no longer quit, I eat as best I can, and also no longer quit because I ate too much. I begin each day as if yesterday is truly over. That has been extremely helpful to me.

My mind is so much better, my self esteem is so much better, so I have lost weight.

Wishing you all the joy I have found on my journey.

I will lose the rest of the weight I want to lose, but I will do it in my own time frame. I will live to my own standards, and not let those of someone else decide my life for me.

God Bless.

Bonnie

boy, everyone is very talkative today, looks like the party loosened everyone up. Had a great time myself btw.

I know what you mean about the scale in the house. I've gotten kinda obsessive about it and I get real bummed when it doesn't move the way I want it to.
but I've lost half inch on my waist so it can't be all bad. I've been adding more cardio so I guess (hope) that I'm just building muscle and haven't just gained 2 extra pounds of... you know what!

Tracking my food is a MUST for me otherwise I'll graze my way through the day. when I see the numbers adding up I know how much I can snack or not!

Stevegolfdog,

I recently had a pinched nerve in my neck....had x-rays done and was given a temp. script for cortisone. The doc said that if it didn't get any better that I should have an MRI. I didn't have any numbness but I did have a weird feeling all the way down my left arm and into my hand. It bothered me for a few weeks after the script was used up but with no exercise for those weeks it finally went away. I didn't like the no exercise but....whatever works, right?? I know how irritating something like that is and hope that yours goes away like mine did.

Happy golfing!!
And have a great weekend!!

I am doing well with my fitness goals. It is the amount of food I eat that is keeping the scale from moving. I have tracked for almost a week and can sure see what I must do-- stay out of the the kitchen after dinner.

Howdy y'all!
I just go home after a round of golf. My pinched nerve hurt a little more today and it's a good thing that I have vicadin to make it through the day. I have to get an MRI next week and I'm hoping they can figure what to do next. My finger is numb and arm has weird feelings down it. I have not exercised because of it but I can swing a golf club without any real pain getting in the way. It is just a little anoyance. I ate a peach and a nectorine for lunch. Golfing helps control my eating too. I just love eating fruit while golfing. It's gotten to be a reward for me and oh yeah, the ice cold water I have in my little cooler. It's all good. I just want to get to the gym and do some weight stuff but I can't right now. Y'all stay your course and happy spark'n, stevegolfdog emoticon

I keep reading the tip to "write down" everything that you eat! I keep avoiding doing this! AND I keep having 20 extra pounds on my hips! How I would love to zip up a pair of size 12 pants... :-)
Sad to say, I know the remedy, but lack the discipline. . . :-(

Rejoice in each new day; it is a gift!

Yes...I go to garage sales and buy like a pair of jeans one size down and try them on till they button comfortably...not having to lay on the bed to zip! Works for me.
By the way...how do I put my picture and weight on the posts?
thanks,

Stillslim - I like the idea of using clothes to gauge your weight loss. We haven't had a scale in the house for years. Usually weigh a the gym. I recently purchased to a scale to have in the house. I think that was a bad idea because I get on it too many times a week and then feel depressed when it goes up and down.
