I'm in for the new challenge. I need to stop the night snacks.
Last night was not good. Plus I didn't enjoy anything that I ate.

I had another good day, I did not have as much fiber as I have been getting but all in all I have been doing much better this month, I am going to lose some weight next month, not alot, but pounds, and that is a promise to me.
I had a good day exercising, for Monday, 20 minutes jogging and 50 minutes walking.

Slug day yesterday. Got lots of paperwork done, but no exercize. It was icy and rainy outdoors and I just didn't feel like it. I will have to make up for that today.

February was a good month for me. I learned a lot and lost 2-1/2 pounds. I changed up my exercise a bit and started to walk/run. I ate a lot of oatmeal and a lot less meat. I developed some good habits that will stay with me long term.

This was a great challenge and I enjoyed positing with all of you. Yanks, we will miss you. You always have a kind word or comment. Good luck to you wherever you go emoticon

Motlem - posting every day is a great motivation! Good for you!

Another 'snow day' from work. Not good for the paycheck, but it gives me a found day to tackle another de-clutter project. BTW - my kitchen looks great still, and I give it a last walk-around, tidying before hitting the hay. That one has stuck, as will the fibre tracking.

Back from the gym - 3.1 miles with 5.5% incline ave, 30 min on the bike - 7.57 miles Strength training and stretches. Do I feel good? I feel GREAT!

Bring on March - I'm really hoping to be out of the 150's by the end of it.

Congrats Motlem!! Wow, you did a great job this month!!! emoticon
Jazz, you are so right about the message to allow ourselves the occasional freedom to eat without guilt! Thank you for that very important reminder! In the quest for eating healthy most of the time, I forget that there is room for the "special" times! emoticon
Well as we say goodbye to February, I have learned a lot about about fiber and protein and I have enjoyed many meatless meals and my green tea, glad to have the chance to honor our hearts. I loved the commitment to 30 minutes of movement everyday. I enjoy reading posts and have learned so much from everyone! emoticon
I weigh the same as the day February started but I am actually very happy about that! My weight only fluctuated up or down by 1/2 lb and that is great for me. Looking forward to maybe kicking it up a notch in March and see my tracker inch downward.
Bernie, hope you are feeling better, I've heard stones can be quite painful.
Have a great day and a great week, all!

Yanks! It has been a pleasure to be on the same team as you these last few months, I looked forward to your posts. Your pleasant disposition, helpful tips to all of the teammates and your dedication to health and fitness is so VERY inspiring. I have also learned from you how a positive outlook and attitude at the start of the day is every bit as important to our health as diet and exercise! emoticon emoticon

Today, I did a 2 plus mile walk. It was an effort because I was a bit tired. My legs were heavy.
I got it done and now I can take the rest of the day off.

I am on track for food. Breakfast: oatmeal again and a balance food bar
Lunch: large roast beef sandwich & no topping wanted or needed.
Planning a cup of yogurt with prunes this evening then
later will have protein shake and 1/2 peanut butter sandwich whole wheat pita.

Trying to keep the plan....
one day left in February! emoticon

Hi everyone ,
Another new week in which I plan to do much better .Saying that I did lose last week and I'm real happy about that since I was at the hospital twice for kidney xrays...had a stone so a bit of pain in my back which I thought was a muscle so off I went to the physio only to get to the doctor later in the day. However it's all good now so planning to walk to work this afternoon..it's a lovely day here and it will be 25C later so will make the best of the day.
Wisegirl... my "baby" too is 32 and my eldest was 40 yesterday...I can hardly believe it.
It seems no time since I was 40 but I thought it was lovely the other week when 2 of my boys were visiting and they said...Mum is still 18 on the inside! how sweet.
I'm trying to leave the sugar out of my food altogether but not too successful in the evening when I just have to have something with my cuppa. Maybe I even have to stop any food after dinner.....mmmm we'll see, that's in the too hard basket yet!

I had a good day nutrition wise, and I did get in 60 minutes of walking and jogging, so it was a good day, I picked up my computer but I have not got it back on line yet, mine is wireless and it will take me forever to refigure it out. at least I have this as a back
I for one do not even feel guilty (well maybe a little bit) about eating what isnt really healthy and nutrititios, I usually do good.

I want to chime in on all this discussion about guilt................... I think we have to enjoy life too. I think that when there is a special occasion or every once in awhile just because we feel like it we should enjoy goodies and not think about calories. That does not mean pigging out on everything you can get your hands on. That means eating a slice of pizza with the cheese and maybe even an extra slice................ that means an occasional beer or wine or slice of cake. That means going out to dinner with friends and ordering what you really want ------------ and if its really crazy ------------ eating part of it and taking some home for someone else to enjoy the leftovers.
I think it makes no sense to have this passion for a healthy life if we cannot enjoy it.

Just my two cents........................

NOW - the birthday party was terrific. I ate everything I wanted and went 200 calories over. Of course my protein is low and my carbs and fat are way high ---------------- but its one day and I ran almost 4 miles this morning so...................... I dont feel guilty at all. Im sure the scale wont be all that bad tomorrow morning and I am running my first real official 5k.

Everyone have a great weekend......................... emoticon

I love pizza but I take off most of the cheese. It has been ages since I ate a regular slice of pizza. But I'm still not thinner.

Had wheat germ and oatmeal with benefiber for breakfast. wow doesn't that sound good.

fruit & walnuts

lunch will be left over ronzoni with tuna added

Dinner is ?

Have a wonderful Saturday. Only a few days of Feb. left. emoticon

It seems like Friday is a good day to slip up a little. It is a week until the next weigh in and there is time to recover. I had a Margarita last night. I did pass on the chips and salsa and had some chicken and rice which wasn't too bad.

Yanks, with the amount of exercise that you do, you should be able to eat ANYTHING! Jazz, hope you had a good birthday celebration. Adult children are the best. I can't believe my "baby" is 32!! It truly is amazing because in my heart I think I am about 42. LOL

Pizza and beer count me in , isn't that the greatest, we all slip once in a while, it's good for you , did you feel guilty, I usually do then I consume about 4 slices.

Good buy to February, No More Snow, I think I said that to January also. The first Robins should be arriving on Long Island soon, then we all can move our programs out of the gym and into the parks and trails and outdoor tracks. With the exception of the folks who live down under, sorry but it's our turn.

Heart Healthy Fiber 54g. wow , very high I do feel great.

Heart Healthy Cardio, at the gym, 10 minutes bike warm up--ran a 5k 31.00 minutes--
bike 30 minutes 7.38 miles--strength training 15 minutes-- stair step machine 34 minutes--
bike 30 minutes 7.5 miles. Have Fun emoticon

no weight change, but that is all good, it could have gone up.
My computer caught a bad virus, it is in the shop, so I am on my lap top, and me and it are not best friends.
I did great on food today, calories in range, protein good, I was 1 shy on my fiber and 1 over on my fat, everything else in range. which is great for me.
I had a big exercise day again, aerobics class and swimming 60 minutes each 30 minutes on strength machines, 20 minutes on the stationary bicycle. 20 minutes jogging 10 minutes air boxing and 30 minutes aerobic walking and I am pooped, early to bed tonight, I bet.

No pain no gain. Yesterday I walked 60 min. at a park, It was a gloom nice day. I bundled up. Wore my pedomiter. From that I got two blisters on left foot, inner first toe, and inner second toe.
Ouch!! I still feel the pain, but it did not stop me from going to Curves this morning..Great to be back, got over the worst of the winter ear and sinus infections.

I'm on Spark a lot today because I must need it.

I did stay on my plan from this morning except I had cup of Ronzoni pasta with protein and skipped the tuna. I threw in a whole box of frozen string beans & ate the whole thing.

I can have a little something later and still be in the zone.

Thanks everyone for listening. We only have a few days left until March madness starts. emoticon

The higher protein is doing a good job today. I feel less hungry.

I am on target with food. even bought some prunes for healthier fiber.

I exercised for 50 mins today....walking & jogging around the track then some aerobics, will be doing some weights this evening.

Sunnymary,
I am where you are. I am happy to not have gained weight. The scale is still holding steady. If I learned anything, it is that I need to make an effort to "not gain weight". That is a lesson well learned.

I am starting a higher protein day and weekend.

Today I had protein shake , for breakfast. The snack was a little carton of cottage cheese.
Lunch will be salmon with salad and 1/2 roll.
I'll be starving until the snack time. I'll have another protein shake.
Dinner is high fiber pasta with vegs and tuna.
Snack will be..? maybe a soy protein bar with cranberries and walnuts.

I am going for 80 grams of protein today. And 35 grams of fiber. I'll add metamucil as usual.

exercise will be weights and WATP one mile. emoticon

Good Morning everyone.
My scale moved in the wrong direction this morning. I have gained 1/2 lb this week but I have been holding the same all month so I am not worried, hopefully it will be back off tomorrow. I know I have to make some kind of change to start moving the scale downward consistently. Hopefully the walking 5K training will rev things up! Today I will walk 1.5 miles on the treadmill and do strength training with light weights.
Yesterday I did an hour of aqua aerobics and a 20 min walk. Really trying to make the tracking thing work but I am consistenly under on fiber and protein and on the high side on calories from trying to get the fiber/protein up. I think I may try to focus on getting 8-10 fruits and veggies and see how that looks on the charts and add more benefiber if I have to! Also I am trying to give up breads and that hurts the fiber count.
Have a great day and a good weekend!
Have fun with your 5K run NJJAZZ!

Morning All,
Happy Friday, Happy weigh-in day, Happy End of Heart Month! This was a good challenge. I learned to make some heart healthy choices that will stay with me.

I would like to tell you that my scale is broken because I did not see any progress this past week. Unfortunately, the scale is probably fine, I just missed a couple work outs this week and could have made better food choices, or at least smaller portions. At any rate, even though there is no progress this week I am down 2# for the month and I will take it.

Looking forward to a good weekend. I am having a special dinner with friends on Saturday night. I plan on running tonight after work and then again in the morning in an attempt to rev up my metabolism. I'll let you know if this works.....

Good morning to all---Here we go, fiber 49g. still high its all those great foods i'm devouring during the day!!!!
Yesterday Cardio, 90 minutes of moderate walking pushing the stroller about 5.8 miles, no gym, I have that scheduled for today. My body and mind needed to stay away for a day.
Weigh in was good today, at this point of the process I read that you can expect a flux of 5 lbs. either way. During the week I did see that from as high as 165 to as low as 159.
Well it is what it is , we are all in the right place with the different types of exercise programs that we practice and of course our healthy food choices.
Keep posting it's a great source of therapy and motivator. Have A Good Day!!!!

Well - I'm up 1/2 pound over last week. Not concerned - my weight has been fluctuating quite a bit this past couple of weeks, which is a good thing, when you're close to the end of the goal. I have started cycling my calories, so am expecting great things in March.

My goal for March is to get to or break through 150! There - it's on record. emoticon

Better luck to the rest of our team. emoticon

I have been good again today, fiber still not up to par, but everything else pretty much so so, not great but not bad. I stayed around 11000 steps yesterday and today so far about 10,500 and I think I am feeling better, I know I was pushing myself, it is so silly to always try to do more, But 5 miles a day was so awesome. I will be happy with 4.
I never have problems with drinking my water, I overdo that usually, I am just thirsty.
I am planning on weighing in come morning, so here is hoping. Good Luck all.

pst

Wisegirl,
It is true about the carbs. I know that they should be the smallest thing on the plate. It is definitely an effort.

Today I only did a 15 min. fast walk in the drizzle so I am going to get on the bike this evening for about 40 minutes.

Trying for a better balance of food so I can loose some weight. Dinner will be whatever it is but I'll take away some carbs. And then I'll have a protein shake for a snack.
Good luck tomorrow.

Hi All,
I am having a good day today, so far I am within calorie range and I intend to keep it that way. I was visiting customers all day, so lots of stairs and in and out of the car. Tonight I will go to the gym for a step class and do some strength training. I am hoping for good results tomorrow ( X These are my fingers, they are crossed.)

Some of you are so good with the amount of time that you spend exercising. Hats off! Was listening to talk radio in the car today to some doctor talking about weight loss. He said that basically, to loose weight there is no magic potion, just calories in and exercise. Pretty much the spark program. He also said that perhaps the reason so many people experience success with Atkins is because carb laden foods (starch & sugar) tend also to be high in calories. One other thing that he said was that people's body chemistry varied and some people's bodies burn calories more efficiently than others. This is why some people run more lean than others. Interesting program. The most important part of the message was that exercise is so important.

Yanks, tooth seems to be behaving. Just a "sore" nerve. No medical reason.
Good luck tomorrow everyone! emoticon

Hello.
Yesterday I was a little over on my calories but low on fiber and protein. The funny thing is I had nutrigrain waffles and peanut butter to help and it put me over on the fat. Oh well, I will keep working at it. Practice makes perfect! Seeing the numbers from tracking really helps.
I walked for 35 minutes yesterday and logged 6400 steps, also bowled all morning. I did have 8 fruits and veggies and 8 glasses of water. Going to try to do everything right today before the weigh in tomorrow. I was too afraid to take a sneak peak at the scale.
Have a great day! emoticon

Good Morning---- WISEGIRL---I hope your tooth problems are gone, there is nothing worse it can have a diverse effect on your whole being.

Yesterday Heart Healthy Fiber---44g it seems to move into the high position as the week goes along. I'll take it, my calorie count has been extremely high this week, however i'm taking a very aggressive approach to my workouts.

Heart Healthy Cardio---Started off with 20 minutes strength training , Next I ran/walked for 10 miles on the treadmill the first 3 miles in a complete run at a 6.3 mph ratio. The next 7 miles was at an interval pace, total time 104. 35 minutes. Next 15 minutes on the bike to cool down , I was hurting last night, I never use muscle cream I had to yesterday.

Good Luck To All on the scales tomorrow, you have all worked very hard. Remember it's only a part of our healthy life process. emoticon

Had a sneak peek at the scales this a.m. - I hope they'll go down today, cause they're up again. I've upped my calories. Now, I think I'll have to cycle them in line with my exercise days. These last 10 pounds are such sticky ones! Everything is in range - fibre, protein, fats, carbs, calories. I've been good about the coffee too. Some mornings I don't even remember to have that second cup !

Here's hoping we all have good news on weigh-in day! emoticon

I had another good day, but I have not figured all my nutrition, so not sure about fiber, but I am sure it is low, as well as protein, but it is all a learning experience.. I did my exercise, not as much as usual, because I spent another busy day in the car, I missed my aerobics class, does not make me happy. but I will make it up, I did do a bootcamp video so that helps.

I got some good running in today ------------ and stayed in calorie range but darn that fiber number was poor.

There's always tomorrow and the scale is holding at that 134 number like its glued there.

I had a good day. I didn't over eat and I plan on having the decaf green tea this evening.

I did the WATP 2 mile intermediate.

I had enough fiber....
I need to up the protein. That is always trouble for me. I don't eat much meat anyway and I don't eat much fish either. What is left? I am not a fan of soy either.
I occasionally have high protein shakes.
I prefer a whole plate of carbs! emoticon
That is the reason that I am here. emoticon

I hope to have a non eating evening.

Hello. Yesterday was a busy day full of errands. I did shovel the snow for 30 min but that was the extent of my exercise. I did log 4000 steps on my pedometer. I was within my calorie range and was low on fiber although I ate oatmeal, benefiber, special K and 8 fruits and veg? Today I bowled for 3 hours and I had soup and multigrain roll for lunch. I am off to walk my dog for 30 min. It is a beautiful day! Have a good one!

Yanks,
WATP is "Walk away the pounds" exercise videos by Leslie Sansone. If I could post a link, I would show you. For my age, it is a good way to get aerobic because the workout starts slow with guidance and then it gets you moving. Even though it is called walking it is really like "light aerobics".

Mornin' all,
Not such a good day yesterday. Did not work out because of a dental appointment. Not sure if the issue with the tooth is resolved yet or not. Stopped to pick up Chinese on the way home because it was late and I didn't feel like cooking. Couldn't eat "hard" foods because of my tooth anyway. Probably went over on my calories. Not a good thing to do on a day when you haven't exercised.

Will do better today. Still to icy/cold to run outdoors, but will run on the treadmill at the gym tonight and then take a strength class. Will stay in calorie range too.

Today is a socializing day. Lunch with a friend = a afternoon visit with another friend and then some dancing tonite...................... my days are not usually that busy ...... seems like everything is just falling to today.

Will make good nutrition decisions today....................... and may try to workout this afternoon.

Good Morning---

MSGRANOLA---What is WATP? i'm curious.

Yesterday Heart Healthy Fiber--39

Heart Healthy Cardio---Mall walk last night for 50 minutes while my wife went to a class at Barnes & Nobel to perfect her skills with the e-reader she received for Christmas. The class had at least 50 people, I guess that's the way things are shaping up for book stores.

Have A Good Day. emoticon I think I'll do a lot of biking today.

fiber still low, I think 19, somedays, much worse, I have had a good day, I did not go overboard on exercise, 100 minutes total, and that is with a 70 minute walk, my food is ok, for the most part every thing is a bit low, but I may have something else later, I already put in my evening snack of grapes,
I had my first piece of candy last night, so I did 20 days, and was trying for 14, I just had it because, I really didnt crave it or anything, just because.
I have to miss my gym tomorow, and I really hate to but I will be there Friday for sure.

Tuesday was a delayed school opening because of light snow and icy conditions. So I got in my exercising and a good breakfast. More walking later in the afternoon. Did well for lunch and dinner. But I'm either hungry again because we ate an early dinner or I'm thirsty. So I'm going to tsnk up with some cold water.

Good Morning All,
Good day here yesterday. Stayed within range and enjoyed a step class and did some strength training at class.

Woke up to black ice and snow this morning. Ugh! Not really enough snow to shovel, but too slippery to run. I have a troublesome tooth and an appointment at the dentist tonight after work. No gym for me tonight. Trust me, I would much rather go to the gym than sit in the dentist's chair. Hope that the tooth issue is just a cracked filling that can be resolved easily.

Good Morning!
I am back home from our weekend away and I made a lot of healthy choices. It is really paying off. I had my bloodwork done and I dropped my total cholesterol 19 points in a year! emoticon I am so happy about that, I was afraid after 50 it would just keep going up.
Today I will start my training for the walking 5K. It is a 5 week program but I will adapt it for me so that I don't hurt myself and make it into an 8 week program. emoticon
Woke up to 6 inches of snow that I am going to shovel, after a weekend of 70 degrees in the south!
God Bless everyone affected by the earthquake in New Zealand.
Have a good Monday!

This week is a good week for me. A few nice events planned but not alot of craziness. My little home renovation projects are coming along nicely and Im happy to see that.

Im going to run today to the gym - take a strength training class and then run home. Thats a good workout day for me.

I did some grocery shopping and am stocked with the right things to keep the fiber in range - and my total calories where they should be............

SO emoticon Im expecting some good results this week and ones that will last.
A few good ideas came in for things to do with oe week challenges in March.............. I will be working on putting that together......

Go out and make it a good challenge day for you........................... emoticon

Good Morning!

Today my plan is to do 2 WATP video's. Because, yesterday was a soft day. It was too cold to walk outside and I didn't get chance to do any serious workout at home. However I did team bowling for a few hours last evening. I burned off a some calories.

Also today I am going to eat soup for lunch and have some more with dinner. It will have vegs. and fiber (barley).

Good luck to all of us ... the end of Feb is getting near! emoticon

I didn't get in all my exercise last week. I guess I went a little crazy the day it was in the 60s here and got something like shin splints for my zeal. So I had to give my legs a rest. I should be back in action this week. On the diet front, I did pretty well. I even added some fruits I haven't eaten in more than three years because of my colitis -- strawberries and blueberries! Delightful, and no problem digesting them!

Fantastic NJJAZZ, I signed up for a virtual one I think, and I am looking forward to that. Are you running/jogging or walking? I used to do the 5k walk, with the L.A. Marathon, 20 years ago, but it was strictly walking, and not too hard to finish
I had a good day, not as much walking as normal, I had to be done before 3:00, I had an appointment so I only had a total of 80 minutes walking, jogging and air boxing.
I also ate healthy today, but I still have my evening meal, so, I wont be going over, but will probably not break any records on my fiber. A work in progress, lol

Wheat germ is a tasty way to add fibre, too. I always put some in my omelets, and oatmeal. And, when I need a 'boost' I use fibre smart. It's a Canadian kind of metamucil, but uses seeds and grains for the fibre. Not hard to take at all, and can be 'hidden' in foods as well.

Hello. We are out of town so I am not getting very much done, but yesterday I walked 30 minutes and did 15 minutes of strength training and logged 6200 steps. Didn't track in so I'm not sure about everything else.
Lynn, I was supposed to take metamucil everyday but didn't like it so I rarely took it and my doctor switched me to benefiber and it is so much easier to take. It really does dissolve. I put it in tea or coffee or applesauce or just plain water. Meatloaf is a great idea too!
Good luck with the 5K next week NJJAZZ. How awesome for you to tackle that.
Have a great day!

Good day at the Y today, ran for 10 minutes, then worked out for 30 and ran another 15..but had to head home and move a bit of snow, not as strenuous as earlier this winter, but a nice topping on the workout!
I've been pretty good with my fiber, but my dh needs more and I am at a loss as to how to get him to eat more, since green is a no no in his diet. My fitness class instructor told me to sprinkle metamucil in his meat loaf and things that it would disappear in (and her husband agreed!).
I do put it on his plate and he nibbles, but not because he wants to, because he's hungry!
I don't have a count on the fiber, I know it's tracked in the nutrition area, I'll have to look at it more closely from here on in.
Have a great day everybody!

Good Morning Everyone,
Good day yesterday. The kids didn't stay for dinner so it was easy to stay within calorie range. I plan on another good day today. It will be easy to track and stay within range. Just wish I could get the calcium up higher. Today is an office day and I will welcome the gym after sitting at my desk all day. There is a step class that I look forward to on Monday nights which is followed by 30 minutes of strength training. It is a good way to start the week.

I did not run/walk this morning because we had icy roads. I am hoping that this will clear up and I can try it again tomorrow. Good luck, NJJazz with your 5K.

Good Morning Everyone----Yesterday Heart Healthy Fiber, 57g very high, today is a new day.
We went to the movies and we brought our own healthy snacks, it pays off two ways, better for you and a lot less costly.
Heart Healthy Cardio in this order at the gym. 10 minutes bike 2 miles warm up, 5k run on the treadmill 29.25 a personal best, rest about 3 minutes, 60 minutes on the bike moderate pace, 18.38 miles, stretch about 2 minutes.

JAZZ, good luck with the 5k, stay to the outside while running if you can , create a mindset that you will finish, and you certainly will!!! emoticon

We have another light dusting of snow this morning. About 3 inches. Not enough to shovel - but enough to mess up the streets a little. No running outside until things melt which I think will be in a day or so. I will do some cardio at the YMCA later today and am planning to take a yoga class. I need to build some core strength.

The scale is being kind -------------- Im hanging right 134. Thats pretty good considering I had ice cream twice over the weekend.

I love the suggestions about the one week mini-challenges............. we will use lots of them in March. Keep those ideas coming.

Im running my first real 5k next sunday of Feb 27. Im excited . Im not trying to set any records............. i will be more than happy if I can just finish and run past that finish line.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I had a good day, 22 grams of fiber, so I am getting up there, my protein was a little low, my calories, was about 6 calories over, 1556, I think.
I got my airboxing in and jogging as well as I walked for 100 minutes acccording to my pedometer, it was not a aerobic walk, more like a leisurely walk on a beautiful day, which it really was here today, we had rain and hail last night, and it was cold, the snow was low on our mountains.
I think that having a new challenge every week would be a great idea, I will try to think of a suggestion.
We did the calorie differential one time and that was interesting, I still check it out alot.
and of course, the pie, which I never got right one time.

pst

Jazz, I really like the one week at a time challenge. Small goals seem to work for me.

one week - hand write plan in the morning and stick to it by checking them off the list.

another week - could be a high protein week.

also a week - of adding strengh training with weights everyday

I walked several miles outside and even did a little light running, too. The running really put a spark in the rest of the day: I had extra energy to clean up the house.

Food was shredded wheat, yogurt, peanut butter and spaghetti . Tonight will be fiber muffin and fruits. (sounds like a lot)

will have another cup of green tea tonight.

Mornin' everyone! Yanks, thanks for the prayers. We can all use it. Rainy, gloomy, ugly day here. No chance of running, too wet and a little icy too. Don't have the time to go to the gym today. Daughter #2 and fiance are coming over to work on wedding plans. This will be the first day that I have not exercised in the last 9 days so I don't feel too bad.

I will make dinner for kids and us at home tonight. I usually make some sort of beef when the kids are here. Future son-in-law loves red meat and the kids don't eat it all that often. I would like to grill steaks if the rain stops. Easy for me and a treat for them. They live in the city and don't have a grill. I guess the challenge for me is to make a dinner with enough calories to fill up the SIL, (he eats like a horse) but watch my portions so that I don't look like a horse. Oh to be young and burn calories like there is no tomorrow.

March challenge sounds interesting. I like the concept of one week challenges. Good plan NJJazz.

Good Morning To All----Heart Healthy Cardio for yesterday included a 2.5 mile run/walk to Mass for Saturday Novena---I did include the team in my intentions----did you feel it?. Then a 2.5 mile run/walk back. Total exercise minutes 50.

Heart Healthy fiber 35g. i'll take it. 18 out of 19 days no red meat ( I folded last night at a Kosher Deli, I couldn't resist the Pastrami) 17 out of 19 days no night snacks nothing after 8pm , not bad.

5k virtual results from last week I finished 10th out of 53 for the run, first in the 46 plus age group, pretty good for a 64 year old. I have a 5kloop scheduled for today I may or may not do it that's the beauty of this self competition. Have A Wonderful Day. emoticon

Im thinking of changing the March challenge to 4 - one week challenges. Im thinking if we do something for 7 straight days maybe we can make some new good habits. Just the name MARCH gives me some thoughts about week long - bite size - challenges.

OK ------ emoticon while you;re sitting here on your computer put on your thinking cap and come up with some I can do it for "one week" challenges. Im thinking about each week having one nutritiion and one fitness "one week" challenge.

We're going to turn WEAK into WEEK emoticon put on your thinking caps guys ! Lets spice this party up a bit emoticon

February has not been a good month so far. Oldest son's visit stressed me out more than I realized. He's in the army and even though he's posted to Japan, I worry about him. He was here for 3 weeks and just went back last Sat.

With Valentine's Day this past Monday, it was Valentine's week at work with all the sweets that flowed into work every day last week. So it was a real challenge to stay with eating healthy.

Starting today with staying the course of eating healthy and exercising consistently.

Happy Sunday to all.

Well I upped my calories a little for the last 2 days also. Sorry to say one of those days I did it with a small scoop of ice cream with strawberri9es on it. But everything else was in range and reasonable.

Im getting my exercise in but not as much as I should. saturday is my off day . I try to have 2 off days per week. Even on those days I will do a video or take a walk.

Ive been feeling in a funk.................... I think the ice cream was an attempt at therapy (LOL).
Hoping to get myself out of it................

happy sunday all.

Thanks everyone for the support re my sore hip but I managed to do the pool that morning and next day it was all good again. Now I have a chesty cough so no walking in the wind today. I have just been reading on one of the sites that pop up on our pages about things we should avoid to lose fat ...sugar being the most important. I've known this for years but find it really hard to do. But I am going to give it another try as I seem to be on a plateau. Also talked about not having processed food and I have done that before with good success...it's the keeping on with it that is the problem. I am trying to convince my brain that it is a good idea!
Will let you know how I progress. It's in public now so I have to do it !

I had a good day, over on my cholesterol, it seems when I have an egg for breakfast there it goes, but I usually only have one or maybe two a week, so, should be ok. under on my fiber I only managed 19 under on my carbs also, but that is not all bad. my protein sodium, fat was all good, a bit under on my calories, but I may still eat something, it isn't 6:00 yet.
It is raining here, in fact we got hail, so I did do my walking inside today, 70 minutes dodging furniture, my house is small and I have big furniture. but I got it done, I did my jogging 20 minutes on my treadmill, and actually a bit of my walking, but I would rather walk around the house I think.
Suzette, Thanks for the idea to up my calories, and maybe that would break my plateau, I know I have been so hungry, especially since I added the strength training, machines.
I do take calcium supplements as well as fiber, good thing, because my calcium has never been as high as Sparks suggests.
Yanks, my doctor knows about my exercise, and thinks it is great, maybe he doesnt know quite how much I do, but the walking and aerobics classes he knows and I have quit 5 medications since I lost my job, and had more me time. lol. I only take one blood pressure pill now, it was two, plus cholesterol medication, protonix, as well as I did take a pill a week for osteopenia, and since I have been walking my last bone scan showed new bone growth.
I do try to take care of myself, because, I want to be independent for a long long time, hopefully
