For the last week or so I have been running out of energy. I need to check my breakdown and make sure I am getting the proper balance of carbs/protein/fat. Often when this happens I find I am coming up short either on protein or carbs. I also may be fighting a cold. I wake up sneezing but once I get moving and take my vitamins I feel alright til late afternoon and then the energy lag starts.

What is your main distraction/excuse getting in the way of exercise? What is a way you can overcome it?

Since my 2nd son was born I have been using the "too busy" excuse for not exercising. I need to ensure I do not fall back into being lazy, and just do the work. I am limited to doing my exercises after I put my 2 year old to bed, but he goes do bed at 8pm, so plenty of time to still get my exercise in.

Depends how long the rain lasts. While I am at work, it just makes me less productive as I stare at it. Tonight though we will see.

To be honest I have not been getting lots of exercise in lately. for a week and a half since my son was born I have been using the 2 kids as the reason why I have not been getting the work in.

Starting today I am going back to ensuring that I reach my 3000 cal burn goal every day.

Question of the Day:

How's the rain affecting you?

I may need to find an alternative workout this evening. Weekdays I usually get in a mile or two walking my dog. Might have to pop in a fitness dvd tonight instead. emoticon

Guess it is on us to start a questions of the day?

What is on the docket this weekend to stay active?

For me, I have a newborn, and 2 year old. Will probably take 2 year old to the Zoo, and try to fit time for a jog and a hike, but we will see.

Anyone interested in joining me for the Redneck 5k? We can walk it, jog it or a combination. It takes place at Westgate on April 4. Here is the link to the page. You might have to copy and paste it. I'm trying to get some of the members from the west valley teams I'm on to join me too.

Haven't done the kawanis trail yet. My brother and I did the Ranger trail last Sunday and that was nice. The first half is all nice and easy, then you cross the road lol. On the other side of the road the elevation comes on so fast you are panting all the way to the top lol.

We are having a family fun day at our ministry and I'll be very busy parking cars and doing the behind the scene stuff. Plus on Sunday I'll be running the Lost Dutchman 10k and then off to church.

On another note though

my QOTD response.

I am now down to 438 11 lb loss really stoked the weight is coming off good. I get down and sabotage myself sometimes but for the most part it is a steady linear decline! Total weight loss so far is 39 lbs. Really excited cant wait to lose more weight!

I for sure wish it was coming off faster. I can hardly notice any difference, but I just keep working. I have been losing around 3 to 4 lbs a week, so for sure respectable. Just have to keep it up.

My goal weight is 125. But I'll be happy just to get under 147. Last time I lost weight I found that once I was under 147 most of my aches and pains started going away.

What is your goal weight?

My goal weight is between 180-220 the Dr. wants to see 180 but to me 220 seems like it will feel good I may just keep pushing and go for the Dr.s goal but 220 would be an amazing accomplishment for me!

I am pro fasting for religious reason, and anti fasting to lose weight. While I understand the necessity for fasting for weight loss at times, generally speaking, there are better ways.

Did it when I was younger. During the time of the fast I was without energy and light-headed. Any pounds lost usually came back Double or Triple. Don't recommend it unless you have to for medical reasons. These days just having to fast for 8 -12 hours to get blood work drawn is draining on my energy.

QOTD!
Morning everyone So as I have stated Last week was a bomb for me and my nutrition. I let a lot of things get in the way and ate horrible all week. I am going through the process to have a gastric bypass and have an appointment on Thursday for my month 3 weigh in. During the "official" weigh ins I can not have any weight gains or I have to start the process over again. Last week was not helpful at all. On Sunday evening I was doing some thinking and decided to go on a 3 day fast until my weigh in so I can have a chance of showing a loss. I have heard a lot of mixed thoughts about fasting medical pros and cons. What it boils down to for me though is 1. I want all that junk out of my body, I was doing so good before I binged for a week. 2. I need to show a loss, I do not want to start the 6 month process over. 3. Its three days when it comes time for my surgery I will have to fast for a week before surgery so its kind of like practice lol

So the question of the day today is:

How do you feel about fasting? Have you ever done it? What is the longest you have done it?

Since reaching my goal weight I have a pair of pants 64 waist and a 4 4LX shirt hanging on my bedroom wall and Pictures of my former self in different place to remind me not to go back.

While losing weight I wrote a skinny mens bucket list. Things I wanted to be able to do that I couldn't do in my current condition. And then I put a dates on each of them so I had a goal to reach.
examples:
Set in a booth at a restaurant without having to squeeze in. (I couldn't fit in the booths at 5 and Dinner)
Do a 5k
To not use an extension for the seatbelt on an airplane

Today's Question of the day.

What do you do to keep yourself motivated?

Personally I look at my brother. He doesn't weigh anywhere near what I weigh, but I always try to "keep up" with what he is capable of or surpass it. I'm the big brother and if I cant do more than little bro there is a problem so that is motivation to keep going

What has been the biggest hurdle to overcome with your weight loss journey so far?

My biggest hurdle has been fast food, and realizing that I am not like anyone else. I get so cranky sometimes seeing others that can eat X, Y. Z and still lose or they are allowed to eat things I can't. It has been a battle getting away from that kind of thinking. Not completely out of the woods yet but I am getting better about it. As for fast food I was a fast food junkie! It is so convenient. You are in the car and there it is, you don't feel like cooking there it is. Its been a hard one to break but I havent had any in some time now and that's great!
