No one has posted on here since 2015, but my plans for the summer is to spend a lot more of my time in Yarnell, AZ. It is at the 5000 ft. altitude so quite a lot cooler, especially for early a.m. walks or walks just before the sun finally sets. Two beautiful times of the day to take a walk.
I have a permanently dilated eye so bright sun hurts my eye, so these are the best times of the day for me, in fact the only time I can be comfortable. Even with very dark sunglasses it still seems almost unbearable during the day.

I have a treadmill, recumbent bike, and small elliptical at home, so I use those to combat the heat. I also have a number of DVDs that I need to use more often. I really like the SparkPeople short videos to get in an extra burst of exercise, too!

Hi all,

I have moved my walks to a new time also, heading out before 7:00 AM. Trying to get in the pool too, had to do some work on it first. Hoping to hit the gym again, my knee is getting stronger. Woohoo !!

I also walk a lot inside the house during the day. I add another 1000 steps each week, working up to hitting 10K a day.

The heat is a big factor for us.

Wishing everyone success !!

I've moved our evening walks(me and my dog) to mornings and am hitting the gym more during the week.

Now that the temp is 100+ its finally warm enough to outside swimming - I go before noon or the water's like a bathtub - combined lap swimming and water walking

Still paddle for an hour+ with my dragon boat team at Tempe Town Lake - during the summer we're out on the water by 7 a.m.

My gym (SCC Fitness Center) has an indoor track that can be used in a pinch - also machines, free weights, tai chi and yoga classes

Take the bike riding indoors on my stationary recumbent bike and watch movies while I pedal- average 60 min/day as my 'go-to' cardio for the summer

We all know it is here. Sure the weather has been surprisingly tolerable the last couple weeks, but is summer time. What are your plans to stay active and not melt in the heat?
