Started round 3 of P90X (hybrid version) this week.

Lost 3 lbs since last week. Was at a standstill for the last three weeks, but that changed when I joined this team, read Tony's book and made adjustments to my nutrition plan and intake volume.

I had to stop my workouts last Friday. I came down with a sore throat and my wife had strep throat. I am planning on continuing my P90X on saturday. Hope everyone is staying on their track.

Played 50 minutes of full court basketball last night - woke up at 5:30 made it to the gym by 6:30 and ran 4 sets of suicides (actually 4x17) and get up couple hundred shots. Feeling it now that I have worked out twice in a 12 hour period. I actually might try to do a "cardio strength" workout tonight.

OMG! I totally fell off the wagon this weekend, but am back on the trail again. On the positive, I'm hoping my body will react to the extra calories so as I adjust back to my 20% deficit, I might actually see 1-2 lb loss per week again.

Hey Bobby, I purchased that same one last year on Amazon (AccuFitness Fitness 3000 Body Fat Caliper which I found online for $6.00). It works ok.

I'm still reading the book.

Help!

Can anyone recommend (Make and Model) a fairly accurate and reasonably priced (plastic is just fine - doesn't have to be fancy) skinfold caliper?

Right now, I thinking..

AccuFitness Fitness 3000 Body Fat Caliper which I found online for $6.00

or..

Slim Guide Bodyfat Caliper for $18.00
both with free shipping.

Last, I just picked up the Venuto's audio book "The Body Fat Solution". Has anyone read or listened to the book?

Yep, I think I'm not eating enough. My energy is taking a hit when I do HIIT, plus I'm not dropping any lbs. Making adjustments now...

As for today, worked out to the point of exhaustion not once, not twice, but three times today. I tell ya, it has got to be my intake.

Hello,

I just bought the book two days ago and I love it! I wish I would have found it ten years ago! I am exited now to set my goals and to start immediately with my improved workout program. I have a difficult time with my last few pounds and with staying in shape. I hope this book helps me!
I have even ordered the Accu-Measure to measure my body fat results, because the scale starts to frustrate me...

I look to forward to get some motivation and tips in this team!)))

BOBBY_SF, keep it up! Your doing great and it sounds like you are right on track.

As for myself, I'm on track with my 2nd week of my 2nd round of P90X. Lost a little over 1% body fat last week. Working on my second % this week. Hopefully my metabolism will kick in a little bit more this week.

My fitness plan is golden, it is my nutrition plan that needs adjustments. Lost 25 lbs since 1/3 at about 1-3 lbs per week, using a calorie deficit of approx 1100 per day. My weight loss has slowed down and stopped in the last 3 weeks, so I need to make adjustments. Will try the 20% approach to my deficit first for a couple of weeks. If that doesn't do it, then I will zig-zag upwards for a few days, then go back.

Have an urge to eat and may or may not be hungry, go do something that you really like, it takes your mind off of it. But if you are hungry your body is telling you to nourish your body. If you have days of excess, forgive yourself for that and move forward to a healthier day. emoticon

I need to confess - I ate three peanut butter and honey sandwiches, a burrito and a bowl of cereal after my salad, which was meant to be dinner.

a little disgusted with myself. Chugging water now hoping to clean out all that crap.

hopefully hormones have something to do with this, BUT does anyone have any suggestions for appetite suppressants or something!!! Other than "just put down the burrito"?! emoticon

This week is kind of frustrating because I'm eating within my calories and I exercised (cardio and ST), drank lots of water, but my average weight is not moving down. I am going to start measuring myself with a caliper....

Yeah it's good stuff and it helps to clear up the arteries so that can't hurt. You must have a good doc wish I could say the same mine is a quack, ahh what can you do. I tried the cream out last night and my neck and shoulders (constant pain from accident) felt a lot better this morning still to early to tell but not so bad.

Enjoy your day!

Interesting concept. Let me know how that works. I had to laugh (quietly to myself) because I mentioned to my doc about the Serrapeptase for the Tarsal Tunnel and he actually knew about it, said it couldn't hurt other than the fact that we might not be able to tell if it is the cortisone or the Serrapeptase that is making the foot better. I am so used to "regular" doctors balking at the herbal stuff, and here is one who actually said, more or less, why not give it a try. Kind of interesting.

Well that's great! I mean no running or pounding the ground sucks in the short term, but as long as you listen to your body and give it time to rest you'll be back at it in no time at all. emoticon

My natropath recommended this natural cream for sore muscles MSM cream. So I got my pharmacist to make some up for me and he added in magnesium as it is suppose to be amazing although used sparingly (or it will send you running to the bathroom!). Will try it out tonight and see how it is.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Tuesday!

Well, another cotisone shot later...he told me absolutely no running (argh). HE said that if I want him to get me better, then no running until this straightens up. He did say that the cycling was ok, as was the strength training. I forgot to ask him about aerobics or plyo training, but I'm guessing that is probably a no-no too because of the pounding. I think I'll call the office today to clarify. Anyway, he did say he thinks it is getting better. I go back in another three weeks.

Hang in there...you'll get back at it soon enough. Don't push too hard too quick or you're liable to hurt something worse and be out of action longer.

Anyway wow well I hope your doctors app. goes well and it's nothing to major. It's not easy when a part of your body is misbehaving. I will keep my fingers crossed for you in hopes that this will all blow over soon. Either way things have a way of working out!

Gee whiz...and I thought I was a wreck. I know what you mean about the sneeze thing. I did that the other day and luckily I bent my knees or I probably would have thrown mine out too. I have a foot doc. appt this afternoon to figure out what to do with mine. I am NOT looking forward to it. can you do any arm exercises? Maybe some light bicep curls? At least then you wouldn't feel like you weren't doing anything.

Hello Everyone

Well it's been one of those weeks were you just get accident after accident. The Sunday before last I started some interval sprinting and pulled the tendons in my right foot. I was then unable to run or go to yoga so on sat. feeling better and planning to do some yoga I bend over to grab something sneeze and boom there goes my back. So here I am now hobbling around the house and and feeling pretty choked that I haven't been able to do much exercise and now can't do any. I'm just hoping I'll be feeling better soon.

Just wanted to touch base with you all, hope you are keeping well and striving to meet your goals!

That's what I was thinking...I kind of want the bigger deficit right now.

I didn't compute calories on percentages of deficit. I can't remember now what i did to figure out my number. I think my range was 1400 to 1800, but I decided to do 1500 calories and shooting for burning 2500 (which is totally doable). I keep reading about not going too low on calories and I was a little concerned it was too low. Friday when I weigh/measure for the first time, I'll go back and recalculate. I'll try to figure out the percentage of deficit too.

Thanks for replying back.

Personally I don't eat more even when I do the morning cardio. It makes a greater deficit...so I feel like I'm making more headway. What is your calorie intake range? I like to go on percentages of deficit rather than exact numbers sometimes.

Thanks for the tip. I have another question. I read ahead in the book to the chapter on doing morning cardio and how good it is if you want to cut your body fat. Well, since mine is so high, I thought this might be perfect for me. I started doing the p90x this week at night with my son. I've figured out my calories to be consumed for the day based on my calories burned doing the p90, my weight...all of the factors that we are supposed to. If I add a couple morning cardios each week to help burn my body fat faster, do I have to consume more calories on those days too? If not, then I will be going over the 1000 calorie a day deficit. If I do have to consume more, then what's the point of the extra workout if I just have to eat more calories anyway? I couldn't find anywhere in the book where it talked about this.

Well, when it comes to late evening snacks, I stick to something like cottage cheese (essentially casein protein) or a bit of wehy protein. This keeps the muscle from breaking down over night and also keeps the edge off the hunger til morning. I don't necessarily stick to the 300 calories per meal thing exactly, I try to watch my carbs and keep the starchy and simple ones to breakfast or lunch and taper these down as the day goes on. I try to stick to fibrous carbs at dinner if at all possible. Hope this helps.

I'm still only half way into the book. I had already packed my food for the day before I read about combining proteins with carbs during lunch. I was really happy because the meals that I had planned for the day all had protein and carb combinations! Struggling a little with keeping all meals at 300. I find that when I get home I want to eat more than the 300 calories that I have left...not so much because I'm hungry but because I'm just so used to eating at night. I know the book says not to do this, but I keep thinking I should cut down my calories in the day so I can eat more at night and I won't go over my calorie count for the day. Any advice?

Today was supposed to be P90X Week 11 Legs and Back. Well, I guess the opperative words are "supposed to be". Anyway, I will double up tomorrow and get legs and back and Kenpo X done together. I went ahead and did photos today, even though it is a few days premature for the end of P90X, but since I'm doing the Holiday Challenge, I needed to get my photos done and posted. They are on my sparkpage, so I hope you will stop by and let me know your opinion. Sometimes I think there is positive change, and then other times I think they look the same. Please excuse the slight water bloat...I've been on a bit of a (unintentional) carb load the last two days.

Did 20-25 minutes of exercise and ST, followed by a short round of yoga.
I'm not in the BFFM 'Holiday Challenge' for the prizes. There are just too many people in the running for the prizes. I'm doing this for myself. I can't say I'll adhere strictly to the BFFM exercise suggestions, but I do love ST and I'll do as much as I can of that. As for my food, I'm so-so with carbs, have to get them under better control. But I love my protein shakes...I don't eat a lot of chicken or beef, I'm mostly vegan, so I love my protein shakes.

Can't afford a HRM, but my doc doesn't want me to exercise to exertion, due to my HBP.

It's been about a month since I last posted. Things have not gone well for me. I've gained weight and my left hip has really been hurting. I think I also have a piriformis muscle problem, as all my internet research has pointed to that, and I have muscle tension all the way down my left leg as well. Stretches and such that I've done here at home have not helped. Am thinking I should see a chiropractor...does anyone here know if adjustments would help me?

Anyway--today I did exercise. The hip pain went away long enough for me to work out for about 20 minutes. So at least that's something. Tomorrow? I don't know. I have to take it day by day which is very frustrating.

Anyone here going to be doing Tom's 'Holiday Challenge'? If you've bought BFFM, you should have gotten emails about this. I'm going to do it; I figure I need to get up and do more moving around. It'll be interesting to see who ends up with the grand prize of the Carribean trip for two, LOL.

Well... It was a rough couple of days and a rough start to the BFFM end of year challenge. Yesterday I was busy and tired and unmotivated even though I wrote out my weekly goals and was trying to motivate myself.

I slept horribly last night as we have been having stormy weather, so I was out of sorts and not feeling my best today. When I got home I relaxed and had dinner vegged out. And then at the last moment possible I just got up and went to the gym! emoticon I am so happy that I found my motivation and now I feel great and am proud of myself:) I am just happy to have turned my funk around and am now feeling great about this challenge!

Just wanted to share with those that would understand.
Jaz

I'm tracking my body fat and LBM and today I saw a drop in weight and body fat and my LBM is going up. Body fat went down 1.4 %. Lean mass increased by almost three pounds. I'm very excited and motivated to keep going!

Quick check-in...

Today will be day 69 of following BFFM, hooray!

On June 1st my BF was at 22.5% & I'm hoping to hit 20% by the end of the month. If I don't, I'll be happy with anything that's sub-21 :)

A fear we have, is the fear of change, as we have to sacrifice something, which means to let go of something!

Great work guys!

I just did my first BB comp and now I feel like I am starting all over again, writing new goals. I pulled out my book and I'm reading through it again!

I love writing goals!
