You have to watch some of those sites. They can be nothing more than ads for their programs.

Welcome back, FitterMom!

Hi there,

I'm back at SparkPeople after a sizeable hiatus and looking to get a lot healthier over the next year. My mother just had her aortic valve replaced and is making an amazing recovery - but it was a HUGE wakeup call! I joined another forum (on another site) where they relentlessly pushed their protein shake in the guise of a fitness challenge. I was feeling very discouraged until I remembered SparkPeople, and I'm really excited to make friends with folks who are like-minded and focused on doing what's best for our health.

Thanks,
Mary emoticon

Happy new now!

Welcome! Nothing at all wrong with setting a goal. 100 pounds in a year is a high bar to set but its less than the 2 pounds per week maximun Drs and sparkpeople recommend.
Thats my goal as well,100 ponds in a year,my year is up in june and Im down 58 pounds, well on my way to making that goal. I'm 48 so folks in our age range can still get there. Exercise eat right and log it all on spark to keep accountable and motivated.
If I can do it so can you, good luck!

Hi Lisa, welcome!

**LINDA**

Weight loss is accomplished with the mind.

A person who wants something WILL find a way....a person who doesn't will find an excuse.

Which do you prefer?
The pain of self discipline?....or...the pain of self regret?

Hi I'm new to SP but have been on many "diets" ...

I am turning 45 four days before Christmas and in January going back to College as I am finding it hard to a job without it.

I would ultimately loose at least 100 lbs by next November ... although I know this site doesn't think it is best ... I woke up this morning and decided enough is enough and started to work out. Now to stick to recording what I eat and sticking to my exercise goals.
