The point of curves with zumba is to get in more cardio. The plan is to do three strength training sessions and then one or two zumba with circuit. It wasn't developed to replace your regular curves sessions

Some days we have back to back classes and I will do the circuit and then straight Zumba. Some days we just have one class and I will make sure I do the circuit before the class starts. Some people also stay and do the circuit afterwards.

At the Curves I attend, we have back to back 30 minute sessions. The first half we do the circuit and Zumba - roughly 15 minutes each on average. If you decide to stay for the second half it is entirely a Zumba class. I normally try to do both and get an hour workout.

In a recent Curves e-mail, a Dr. said in a video clip that Curves Zumba was not adequate for strength training. He said you should still do the regular circuit too. In true strength training, you must work your muscles to fatigue. Going only at 50 % power won't do it..
I can see that, and its a bummer as I really love Zumba!!
