Ally--I hate those dreams when you are thinking you are going to be late...always have them the night before we are to catch a plane----its the AM we are to leave and I forget we are going onvacation..trying to pack, forgetting everything...too funny...like I would ever forget vacation...

I am thinking of Ally and Lynette and her dad---wishing you a great race!!!

I have my oatmeal made for 10 days(freeze it..love the steel cut oats)..heading out shortly for my 11 and then making yogurt again.....

Hope your day is great!!!

Hi everyone - Beth and Tammy great races! way to go!

Jill that was a strange race to not be marked well, but you got out there and had fun that is what counts most! good for you!

John you are doing great and will have an amazing race - you listened to your body and that is the smart thing to do. take care of you and your body will return the favor on race day. . .good luck and really enjoy it! soon you will be an official 1/2 marathoner!!! yeah! so exciting

Gail you day sounded great wine and all - hope you were able to avoid all the crazy yardsalers for your run today.

Ally and lynette happy racing tomorrow and I had to laugh about the tp - strange but funny - and tammy is right always something good to have never know when it may come in handy. . lol

jackie sounds like you had a great run - it had to feel good!

no run for me today - had a nh meet and greet - it was really windy but other than that a great fall day - I really enjoyed the good food and conversation. no run scheduled til monday then I'm back to my usual 3. Beth I get a side stitch when I'm not hydrating enough - I find if I drink more water it goes away - so far that is what has worked for me. . .

I'm heading off to bed. . .hope all racing tomorrow has the best time and I'm not talking about a pr, but just really enjoys the run and day aka a time - ok yes, I'm getting tired. . .have a great night all
Holly

if you believe, you WILL achieve

Hello- evryone Beth - you did good stitches and all, how many races you doing?

Last week was rough for me no energy, not sure if I was fighting off some bug that was sapping my energy or the training since I've never done this 1/2M thing before, and as Carole reminded me I've only started running 11 months ago and am 47yrs, taking up being phsically active later in life, but Im doing it, and i'm keeping on keeping on

Im only one week away from my first 1/2M I can't believe I'm really doing this
I didnt make it through my longest run 20k because I wasnt feeling well and had only 4 hours sleep i only ran 18K is my longest, and race day is 22K?
Yikes this will be a mental challenge over my body fatigue
I just need to learn how to push through that wall if I hit it

I have about 3 seconds while the kids are playing- yeah, the ravce this morning was not a race- it was a walkathon, and people were welcom to run it...it was on a college campus, and there were turns that weren't marked, and no map to look at it ahead of time. I ended up doing 2.65 instead of 3, and half the timer I had to turn back and find where I was supposed to be. Anyway- it was still fun, but not worth tracking.
Lynette- good luck tomorrow!

Packet pick- up was today. Race is tomorrow at 8Am CST. This was the weirdest goodie bag yet... A roll of toilet paper, a pack of baby wipes and a travel size pack of kleenex. A few packs of Carb Boom and some gel shots/ blocks of some sort and then the usually assortment of other race flyers/ information. Oh, I guess I should mention that Kimberly- Scott Paper Prodects is a sponsor ;)

The expo was small. Only a couple vendors. One health group was offering body fat tests with the hand held device. I was pleasently surprised at my results =)

Beth and Tammy- Good job on your races!

Ally- Good luck on yours!

Jackie- Glad you enjoyed your run =)

I'm off to fix supper and then figure out everything I need for tomorrow. I'll be back after the race =)

Hey guys! Finally checking in after a busy morning.

I sure wish it was fall weather here but it's coming... eventually it has to come - lol. Hubby & I had forgotten about the Race for the Cure race which was held today. A friend called last night to see if we were running it... Well, we decided to get up this morning and run 4 miles then put on fresh running clothes & head out to the race. I told my husband I was not going to "push" for a PR because of the heat & humidity, etc was just going to run like a regular training run.

We meet up with our friends, got registered, & went to the start line. OMG... these local races are something else. It took us about 35 seconds to reach the start line cause the road was so narrow. Long story short... I finished in 31:41 which is not a PR for me but close to my last PR finish of 31:29 (if I remember right). this was a good race for me "mentally" because of the heat. I wanted to stop & walk every 30 seconds but kept on going... lol Afterwards, we all went out to eat brunch. It was a fun morning.

Beth - you still ran a great race! I'm not sure what is making you have side stitches. We got to figure that out... Burger King... hehehehe That reminds me... after I finished my 5K, I saw one of the racers SMOKING... can you believe it??? Stupid guy...

Ally - RUN, RUN, RUN!!!

Lynette - thinking of you. I've got to go check to see how you are doing soon.

Jill - RUN, RUN, RUN!!! :)

Gail - that was so nice of you to share the wine with the others - lol. I bet it is fun to watch that big yard sale. Are you finding any bargains?

Jackie---great job on the run...

My race was not what I had hoped for, but I am ok with it...darn side stitches again, had to walk 3 times....
Goal was sub 30...time/garmin was 30:23--It was a non chip race and I think that time was 30:28?? will have to get the results later...
But I won a door prize...dinner for 2..to Burger King...I laughed...
I am not letting this race bother me one bit....I know I am getting faster and am hopeful that my race on Sunday will be a sub 30....

Finally had a great long-ish run. Went for 6.75 miles at a 9:54 min/mile pace. I mean, the pace was a bit slow...but I told myself not to care about it. It's been nearly 2 weeks since I had a good, quality run that's longer than 3 miles.

Had a horrible day of eating yesterday. I don't even want to describe it. Today is game day...game at 6, eating light throughout the day then some homemade beef stew after.

Not sure I'll be checking in again...so to whoever is racing, good luck. :)

Hi everyone.

I have a few minutes so I thought I would check in.

There is a huge yard sale going on in my neighborhood, traffic is every where...still the 18 wheelers are squeezing through. :-) this is not a running friendly morning...but all is good since I wasn't planning on running this morning.

I got 12 miles done yesterday. all went well. it was very windy. the first 6 miles were tough. it's still very windy today...wow, it sure looks like fall.

SO today will involve a bit of sight seeing. Maybe a bit more wine (1 1/2 bottles last night! - but it was between 3 of us) and a short run to keep the streak alive.

good luck to everyone racing. I will be checking in to see the results.

HI all

I have had a good day...........slept till 7am, (day off work) and judging by my run tonight Gail`s theory of me getting sleep and how my job would affect me running, well she was right!!!!

Hi all- I haven't read back to see what i've missed today. It's 9pm, I just got home from work after being there at 8am, we had to put one of our cats to sleep today, I've have eaten incredibly badly since last ngiht, and I'm doing a 3 mile race in the morning. My time is going to suck. I've got to still figure out where I'm going in the mornig, and tomorrow is going t be pretty busy, and I leave for our board retreat right after church Sunday, so I won't be online again until Wednesday.
Lynette, have a great race!
Ally- do you have a tri this weekend?? Is so, good luck!

Lynette---sounds like you enjoyed your run..love that you run with your dad!!!

Tammy---Cooper had a blast...played in the pond with his "cousins"---he needed a bath when we got home....
Dr appt went fine....no issues....Just keeping an eye on the BP--go back in 6 months....127/82...always right around here for me, but both my parents have high BP..better to be safe...when they first take it with the automatic machine---its sky high...167/88..but the old fashioned way is always better...

Gail---it sounds like you have a great weekend ahead of you!!! Have fun!!!

Jackie--enjoy your dinner, bet you are excited to see you parents!!!

No run this morning. I walked for a while at lunch.

Lynette- good luck, run fast, have fun! This is not show business

Jackie- I always feel yucky and tired when I'm eating bad bad food. Maybe consider that at your next meal. You're heading in the right direction.

Ally- no hitchhiking for you until the elbow heals.

Have some good runs and lots of fun everyone. I'm on a carb load today but at least I didn't over eat on top of it. I just need to make some protein choices at dinner. Then I'm headed to an Oktoberfest fundraiser for my friend's son's school tomorrow. It's an enlightening experience. This particular school tuition is way more than what the brochure says. And I thought public schools were bad. Still it should be fun.

Stephanie or as JoPa would say, call me "Roses" if it just makes things confusing.

My plans keep changing...no class at Rec. :( I'm tired, I need rest, I can feel it...and my sister is getting her Aggie ring (BIG deal here) and I have to be there for the ceremony. It's not till 5:30...but I dunno, I don't want to kill my love of physical fitness just because I'm up to 132 :S right now. I mean, I'm pretty sure once I stop OD'ing on all the junk food (it will stop, I don't feel good when I do it, and eventually I know I'll get sick of it) and I get a routine down (already starting to, I think) then everything should fall into place.

But for now, I have to worry about not killing myself nutritionally at dinner. Going out to steak place for a nice dinner with parents and sister...hoping to get some type of fish. Mmm, I love a good fish.

So that's what those five finger shoes are for...acorn protection. Learn something new every day.

It's a busy day here. Up and out of the house just after 7:00. Mark had an ekg and blood work done. Rhy had an appointment at the orthodontist. We stopped in at the mall for a few minutes...had breakfast and came back home.

My relay race is next Saturday. this weekend I have a friend spark from the city coming down. I have only met her once before at a 10k race in Halifax. She is bringing Nic home for the weekend. It worked out perfectly. Christy and Nic live only a couple streets from each other...isn't that cool.

We have the whole weekend of fine homemade dinning, running, sight seeing (she has never been this way before), yard sale-ing (a mile long yard sale that will start right in from of my house tomorrow), and relaxing (if time aloes) planned.

Well got to go put in an easy (maybe long) run and then I have major cleaning and cooking to get going. Company arrived around 7:00 and dinner will be served by 8:00. This is going to be fun!

Lynette - Your race is coming up!!! Is there anyway to track you while you run online?

Beth - Cooper has a play date at the breeder's house... Hmmm.... :) Looks like the dog will be having a good day - lol Let us know how the Dr's appt goes.

Ally - I didn't think anything about your elbow but now after reading Beth's comments about being off work for 16 weeks I feel compelled to say "Please take care of the elbow". :)

MOrning!

Got an easy 4 this morning... Well, as easy as it can be with my dad lol! For an old guy, he's still pretty quick (marathon in may was 3:43). It's really flat by my parents' house. I've forgotten how nice it is to not run hills =)

Argh... Started this about 30 minutes ago... Between phone calls and trying to find info for DH...

Hope everyone has a good day and great runs =)

Jackie---I think it was wise that you didn't get up---you need some sleep too...

Jeri and John---enjoy your weekend...

John---great run!!!

Tammy---how far away is your mom?? Hope you read this after all your paperwork is done so you can leave early...

Today is a rest day....Dr at 1230, then grocery store, get Cooper, get his nails cut, then taking him for a play date at the breeders house...haven't been there in the past year...

Good Morning!

It's yet another dark, stormy day... Didn't get my run in this morning due to thunderstorms. This raincloud hopefully will be moving on soon.

I will ride my bike after work. I'm hoping to get a good run in tomorrow before I go visit my Mom.

Ally - sounds like you are going to have a fun day. I wish I had a Trader's Joe in my area.

Jopa - 23 years together - That's wonderful! Have a great time & hope you get in a trail run or two.

Jeri - Whew... for a moment I thought you were going to run up & down the mountains barefoot - lol. Enjoy the camping trip.

I hope to leave work early today. If I can make myself finish up my paperwork instead of playing on sparkpeople, I think I could leave early. :)

Good morning!!
Hubby and I are heading out for our once a month camping trip to the mountains. Tomorrow morning I plan to run 8-10 miles, and it will be hard!! It will be my longest mountain miles since pre-surgery. I think I'll just run until my legs give out. I may end up going 12, who knows? AND, I will be wearing shoes. LOL. The road is mostly gravel. When I get back to my normal small-town life, I'll kick off my shoes again and run some more. Before winter comes, I'm going to invest in some Vibram Five Fingers.

Got back from my business trip last night. No exercise yesterday.

Today was the first time I pushed the tempo on a run since my half marathon. I did a 3 mile run in 25:20, with an AP of 8:23.

W and I leave later today for Bedford Springs, a resort about an hour from Pittsburgh. We celebrate our 23rd anniversary this Sunday. There is a hot springs spa and miles of hiking trails. I hope to get a trail run in, or two.

Lynette, have a great race.

Gail, is it your relay this weekend? If so, have a great run.

Jeri, a guy was wearing the toe runners in my last half marathon. They give you the benefit of barefoot running with a little acorn protection.

"John" or "JoPa" if John only makes things confusing.

So, I didn't run today. I woke up at 5:20 and was EXHAUSTED. I didn't do my double workout yesterday either, and I hate like 8 marshmallow creme pumpkins after I had cereal after my dinner.

Going to a class today at the Rec, though. Need to get my eating under control...I'm doing better at mealtimes, just the after mealtimes need to be fixed now.

Shorter day today...hopefully I won't be as ridiculously tired this afternoon.
