Oh Becky! I am so sorry you are in pain and glad you didn't fall. Hope that the trip to the chiro makes a difference.

We had high winds and rain yesterday, not like I could get out at all so it didn't matter - I worked 16 hours with no break - luckily the commute was awesome with only about 35 minutes each way, so I was only away from the house for 17 hours - ARGH! I am supposed to be off now through January 2nd, but I will be working a little. So tired of it.

Since it's nice today I should run but I don't know, I have a 10k tomorrow so maybe I should just go for a walk. If I do run it will be very short. It will colder out for the 10k tomorrow but it's at 9:30 so at least it will have warmed up a bit by then and we can hang out inside until the start. I've placed in my age group for this race but that's not likely this year. It's a very hilly course but beautiful, runs by the lake and passes by Johnny Cash's old home (which actually burned down a few years ago when it was owned by Barry Gibb, yes, we are surround by celebrities here, though I don't ever seem to notice them, lol). Anyway, have a great weekend, I will try to check in periodically over the next few days because after that work ramps back up and I know it will be almost impossible to do anything!

Oh Gloria I'm sorry. That is so hard especially on Christmas.

I finally made it onto the treadmill yesterday. I started out walking which was fine. I then started to jog. All of a sudden I got a sharp pain in m lower back which made my leg give out. Luckily I was able to hold on so I would'nt fall. Needless to say, I continued my workout hoping I could work that out. I have been able to do so in the past. My lower back ached the whole time I was on the treadmill. As soon as I was finished, I called my Chiropractor and got in for an adjustment. It's still a little sore this morning. I'll just walk today. We had some returns to do yesterday and it was hard walking around. I got cranky pretty fast. Needless to say we came home.

We had a lot of rain yesterday. Had that rain been snow, we probably would've had at least a foot of it. Today freezing drizzle and a bit of snow and then colder temps are suppose to move in and everything will turn to ice. Not looking forward to that at all.

I ate so much better the last 2 days. I need to get to the grocery store for some fruit and veggies. Hopefully I can do that today if the roads are ok.

Have a nice day. Hard to believe the end of the year is fast approaching.

Becky

Sorry, I've been AWOL again, I just can't seem to squeeze time in anymore, it is just crazy with this job. I was supposed to be on vacay but had to work and then I was supposed to be off today but am at the office - bad to be here too, the Music City Bowl is today so traffic will be really bad, as if it isn't already, and then the weather is supposed to be terrible. I have no idea how long I will be here, it's possible that it will be a very very long day.

So Saturday I ran six miles, I think that was the day that I got to around two miles and suddenly bathroom issues popped up. I thought if I could get another mile to the park I would use their facilities, but when I got there I found they were closed for the winter! Yikes, I considered calling my hubby but then I found A Runner's Best Friend - a porta potty! So I was saved, hahaha! That run was okay, I did find myself walking way too much on the way back. Then Monday I did a New Year's Eve run with one of the local running groups. There was freezing fog that morning, I didn't like that at all, but we were careful. We wore I Christmas gear and lights and my friend drove up here from another part of town. We did four miles and that was slow slow slow, I just couldn't make myself go, and we walked a lot. I felt badly because she is gearing up for marathon training and needs to be at 10 miles and here I am, I can barely walk four, haha! Then yesterday I went out and did three easy miles, without walking, and I did really really well, very pleased with that and with my pace. We've been having pretty good weather, it was probably around 55 yesterday when I went out.

Christmas....well, it was not what I expected. Monday we had company from out of town and I did a lot of the cooking in preparation for Tuesday. It was a good day. Then Tuesday we did the traditional stuff, had our breakfast, I cooked, we ate and cleaned up, then we opened the gifts. It seemed like it was going to be a really good day. Lemur played with his toy and he ate well. He purred a lot and seemed very happy and content. Then in the early evening he took a sudden turn for the worse and we had to take him to the emergency vet. There was nothing they could do for him and of course we are devastated. This is the first time in 30 years that I haven't had a cat (or more than one). We knew his days were numbered, but it still came as a shock, especially being on Christmas day.

So, now I have to get to work, I am having trouble with a file that I need so I have to get that figured out so I can move on with my processes.

No extra exercise yesterday. Work and rest. I really needed a day of rest because I ended up sleeping alot. I hurt pretty bad too. I ate much better and all of the cookies have gone out into the freezer. There is still some candy left, but we'll end up giving that away if it doesn't get eaten soon.

Rain all day today so it will be a treadmill day. It looks like the treadmill is going to be my friend for awhile. I may be able to get outdoors this weekend, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one. At least we're not dealing with all of the snow that is expected north of us.

Have a wonderful day!

Ok, this holiday season has not been a good one when it comes to eating and exercising. I think it's a first where I let things go and I am paying for it. Not by the scale for some odd reason, but by the way I feel. My body isn't happy with me at all. I'm retaining water like mad, my stomach hurts from the sugar it has had to take in. The lack of sleep due to feeling yucky. I should've ran yesterday, but due to my schedule, it just wasn't going to happen. It's only Wed. and I work today so I'm hoping the rest of the week we will get back on track.

All of the cookies will go into the freezer today when I get home. If I feel better later, I will try and get some exercise in especially if it hasn't started raining.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and have a great day!

The treadmill it was yesterday morning. I cleaned my house first and then jumped on it for a decent workout. I paid for it this morning of course. My arthritis stiffness is getting worse. Not sure if it's the weather or what. I woke up about 11:30 last night feeling like I was coming down with the flu or something, but I think it's just the aches and pains. I had a hard time getting back to sleep. Hands, ankles, feet and everything else hurts. Really getting frustrated with this. I need to find something that works for me especially when it comes to exercise. I'm hoping to at least walk on the treadmill today. I'd love to go for a run on Christmas Day outside of course.

Have a fantastic day! We have a very busy day ahead!

I was really hurting yesterday. Especially my hands. I came home from work, took Ibuprofen and took a nap. Everything hurt worse when I woke up, but loosened up as I moved around. I ate so much better yesterday. Onl 1 cookie and it was a Spritz cookie which is small.

I made a veg. beef soup for dinner last night which really hit the spot. I'm done cooking now till Xmas day or whatever I need to do at my sons on Xmas Eve. We'll have to have pizza for the game today. I usually only eat 1 pc so no big deal there.

My goal is to stick to the routine today and either get on the treadmill or head outside. We've got snow in the forecast and I'm not sure what it's going to be like today outside yet. I need to clean my house and do some laundry and prep work for the next couple of days. My days are off. Seems odd to have Xmas on Monday and Tuesday for some reason.

Have a wonderful day! emoticon

Hope you feel better Becky. I ate too many sweets too, so much candy and junk at the office, cookies, etc. My grocery shopping is done, finished it up this morning. I didn't go running with my friends this morning, I am just too exhausted but it is nice out so I should go out for a run or walk this afternoon. It's partly sunny and the windchill is around 40 so I think if I go in a couple of hours it should be even warmer - I really ought to try for at least six miles but since I am going late I am limited on routes due to traffic and such.

I was supposed to be off from today until January 2nd but I was there around 13 hours yesterday I think (I am not even sure) and I still didn't finish so I have to work some today. And then because of my new job I need to go in on Thursday, possibly Friday. I am pretty sure my headaches and nausea are caused by stress.

Becky, funny that you went out to a bar last night, we are doing something similar tonight, going out to a bar with another couple to hear a band, and we haven't done anything like that in a long time as well. One of my running groups is doing a Christmas run tomorrow at 6 am, I really want to go to that but I am sure I am going to be tired because we likely won't get home until after midnight.

I only exercised 2 times this week. I feel horrible. Too many sweets and I ran out of my reflux meds. DH picked them up yesterday so by Sunday I should be feeling better. I've just been hurting so much this week. Makes me not want to aggravate it any more. Grocery shopping is done and all of the rest of my shopping is done. I just have to send DH to the bank and then to the store tomorrow or Monday morning to pick up french bread. It doesn't seem like the holidays coming up. Too many things to do and no time to sit back and enjoy. I need to rethink all of this next year. (I said that last year also)

We went out with co workers last night. It was fun. Haven't been out to a bar on a Friday in a long time. Usually I'm in bed b 8 so I can get up at 3:30. I'm tired this morning, but I don't have to be anywhere today so I can take a nap if need be afterwards.

My goal is to get back on schedule tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to do an outdoor run if it's not too cold.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Becky, we've had a lot of wet weather too, rain and it's not too cold but this morning it feels really cold because of the wind. It's been too damp for me to want to be out and besides, with work, I just can't. When my husband picked me up from work last night he decided we should eat dinner in Nashville and I just wanted to go home and crash! But we did go out and it was really nice, just so late when we finally got home. My friends are all asking me if I can run with them tomorrow morning early and I am just too tired to think about it! I have to buy groceries, clean the house and do Christmas shopping...and wrap. Luckily I got most of the Christmas meal last weekend, just need a few staples - and I just remembered that I should probably go ahead and take the turkey out of the freezer so it will thaw by Tuesday.

My treadmill workout yesterday wasn't great. I hurt so I did 1 min. run, 1 min. walk until halfway and then I upped it to 2 min. run, 1 min. walk. I only did 2.5 miles. That was more than enough. I'm a little frustrated this week. Plus I'm finishing up my baking. All I have to do today is frost cookies and then I'm done. I can distribute cookies and then put the rest in the freezer. Out of sight, out of mind! My body is telling me it's tired of sugar.

I was hoping to get some exercise in today, but that may not happen. We shall see this afternoon. I'm thinking I should just get stuff done and start my routine on Sunday again. I've got too many things to get done before Xmas. I don't know why the week before Xmas has to always be so stressful. I need to really work on changing that. I think it just creeped up too fast this year.

Gloria-Maybe being forced to cut back on hrs will help. It doesn't look like your arthritis is liking all of the work you're doing. You need to be careful with Rheumatoid arthritis since it can affect so many things in our body. I hope the new meds. help.

Have a great Friday! The temps continue to be mild, but very damp still. We had rain/snow yesterday which didn't help much.

Hey there!!!! Becky, sounds like you are having decent weather - it's been nice here too but damp and like you, the damp weather really gets to me. But I am so glad it isn't very cold. Well, I have run twice this week, once on Monday and once on Tuesday, three miles both times. We've got a group of four women who are running at 5 am, great friends, supportive and I am loving it, though I don't love getting up that early! Also, my car died, and I am working so much that I haven't had time to think about it. We live too far away from work to and have different hours so it is hard to share a car, but that is what we are doing. I am still working a million hours so I am letting my husband deal with it for now - whether or not we repair it or replace it, I am not sure. Went to rheumatologist Tuesday and she is talking about restricting my work hours because I am working so much the stress is making me dizzy and sick to my stomach. Inflammation and swelling is still very present in my hands and knees, so the prednisone isn't working. I wonder if the other med that I started will help.

As much as I love these mild temps., my joints aren't liking the damp weather. I've been hurting pretty bad. I'm going to push myself outside today if it's not raining. Otherwise it's on the treadmill I guess.

I'm maintaining my weight which is fine with me. I will start hard next Wednesday when all of the celebrating is done. Right now I'm not over doing it and making sure I can some form of exercise in even if it's just from my job which I do alot of walking and bending.

Have a wonderful day!

Yesterday was a beautiful day. I made it down to the lake and actually had a pretty nice run. I can tell I haven't run outside cuz my breathing stunk. I don't like running in the cold cuz my shoes feel stiff and ii always feels like I can't run right. I'm not sure if I'll be able to run today due to working. Need to see how my hip is, but I will get out for a walk for sure especially since it's suppose to be near 50 and sunny today.

Have a great day!

Gloria-My husband waits for me to do the shopping for his side also. I picked up gift cards for them, but wanted to send something with the gift cards. I ended up not feeling well yesterday so I left it to him. Nothing bought of course.

I woke up feeling fine yesterday except for my sinuses. Started to drink some coffee and immediately felt nauseous. It would not go away. I felt a bit chilled. I'm sure it was my sinuses because I've had pessure and everytime I would bend over my head would hurt. So no run, no mixing up cookies, no nothing! I'm feeling better today except for my one eye that felt like there was something in it yesterday. It's sore and watery today. As long as I'm not sick to my stomach, I will run today. It just messed up my day yesterday.

It's going to be cooler today, but tomorrow the forecast calls for 45 degrees. I will definitely be out tomorrow. Even if it's just walking the dog.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Becky, sounds like you are having such good weather! Glad you can get outdoors. It is so much better than the treadmill. I went out this morning and we did four miles - so slow again - my hamstring/glute hurts now - might be piriformis again, I don't know but it feels exactly like last time, so probably. I am sure a big part of my problems now are that I am too tired and I am not strength training at all. Anyway, groceries are done, dinner is in the crock pot...I have one load of laundry left. Christmas shopping is not done and my husband is acting like he has no interest or desire in that - and it is for his family. My house is in a disarray but I haven't really got time to think about it.

Gloria- I admire you for trying after working so much. I'd probably just put if off. Yesterday was really nice and today should be the same. My plan is to run down by the lake later this morning when it warms up a bit and the sun comes out. I haven't ran down there in a long time. My son wants to come with, but he's going to have to suck it up and run/walk more than 1 mile. The weather looks perfect all week so running outside shouldn't be a problem. I will make the time!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Hi Becky!!! Hope the weather gets better so you can get outside. I haven't been getting out too much - I just can't get up early anymore - I've been leaving the house at 5:45 a.m. a lot of days and not returning home until around 8:00 p.m. and I don't get a lunch break - so I am just too exhausted, and I've been working weekends too. Tuesday night I took a short break from working and did a three mile run with my friend and that was it for the week until today. I did 10 miles with two of my friends but I am just too tired and so my heart rate was too high and my back hurt, and the pace was so slow, only like 13:38 min/mile. I had to walk a lot - my heart rate that high at that pace tells me I am too tired or dehydrated. I wills say that the weather was pretty fabulous this morning - it was around 48 degrees when we ran.

My treadmill run was pretty good yesterday. Outside would've been better, but those runs are coming. Not today, but tomorrow. Highs are going to be getting close to 40, but the paths and roads are clear. No excuses! I need to burn off these calories I've been taking in and the calories I will be getting from the holiday treats.

Have a wonderful day!

First day of break and I'm going to start with the treadmill only because I'm going to be heading out to get my shopping complete. I want to go early enough to hopefully beat the crowds. I have a feeling it's going to be busy today.

My eating has been way off, but luckily I haven't gained any weight. I'm sure if I keep this up, the pounds will jump on. I'm not going to let that happen!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Today is suppose to be my run day, but seeing as I start my Winter break tomorrow, I may just wait. I've been having bad leg aches at night when I'm trying to rest. Weather has been damp so that is part of the problem I'm sure.

The temps are going to be warming up into the upper 30's and possibly low 40's with sunshine. That means dry conditions and outside runs for a change. I can finally let the treadmill rest a bit.

I tried the elliptical yesterday, but my hip wasn't feeling good so I opted for a treadmill run 1 min. walk 1 min for 30 min. I wasn't sure if it would handle that, but after about 5 min. it felt better. Working both jobs the next 2 days so it will be rest for me. I get plenty of exercise with these 2 jobs.

A warm weather run sounds so good right now!

Gloria-I would say you probably are just tired, but you never know this time of the year. You could have a bug.

I didn't get outside yesterday. I could've if I would've waited, but thats not a good idea for me right now so on the treadmill I went. I did about 3.5 with 2.5 running and the other mile walking. I did squeeze a little running into that mile just to get it done. I was really sore afterwards, but I managed to clean my house. The sun was shining so I had alot of energy. We haven't seen the sun much lately and last week when I cleaned the house, it was dark from the gloomy weather. I had to have the lights on during the afternoon to see what I was doing.

I'm thinking about doing the elliptical this morning. I haven't been on that for a while. It shouldn't bother me too much. 4 days of work at my one job this week and then it's winter break. I'm so ready for it!

Have a great Monday!

Leneisha, Jamaica! I guess it must stay pretty nice out there during the winter!

Becky, did you get to run outside?

Weather here has been 33 degrees and raining. The cold damp weather is getting to me. My friend and I ended up running Friday morning, just three miles. Another friend and I were going to run yesterday but I am so exhausted from work that I told her we couldn't run until 8:30. Well she texted me at 6:30 and said we had to go early because it was snowing and slippery. I just couldn't get going that early and ended up doing my miles on the treadmill - eight miles. My heart rate was super low and average was only 123, and max was only 134. After that I felt terrible all day long. During the run everything on me hurt. I guess I was just too tired from working the long hours. Today I did the treadmill and allegedly it was a very good pace! I only did three miles and heart rate wasn't super high but definitely closer to what is more normal for me. I still haven't felt that great today though - wondering if I have a bug or just tired. I've felt dizzy and nauseous all weekend. Anyway, I felt like I hadn't gotten much done this weekend but I guess I did more than I thought - I did laundry, went to two grocery stores, cooked a little. I made some greeting cards and worked for a while both yesterday and today. Work continues to be awful and will continue to be bad for a while but I will continue to try to check in from time to time. Have a great week!

Good treadmill run yesterday. I'm able to run a little more on it before I walk. Keeping my fingers crossed I can run outside tomorrow.

Treadmill today. It'll be a short one. Hoping for an outside run tomorrow before I head out shopping. It will be a cold one though.

Gloria-I'm beginning to feel that way with the cold and ice. I went thru a time when I could run outside as long as it was above zero. I would be one of a small handful that would run around the lake. It was never that bad though. I would easily do at least a 10k distance at that time. The road would be a bit slippery, but I could handle it. Not now. I'm so afraid of falling. I have strong bones so I shouldn't have to worry about breaking anything. I just bruise really bad and it hurts. I will force myself out when I'm on break. No matter how cold it is, the outdoor run or walk is way better for my head than the treadmill run. Speaking of which, I will probably be doing another treadmill run tomorrow morning. Hoping to get outside on Friday though. Around my house, the sand they put down on the roads for the ice is almost as bad as ice. So I'm not sure if I will be able to get out and run around here. We shall see.

3:30 is soooo early! I get up around 4:00 to run at 5:00 - that gives me time to brush my teeth, take care of the cat (he gets an insulin shot), get dressed, throw breakfast lunch in the bag (I go to the office after the run and clean up in the fitness center that we have on site), and drive to the running location. I try to be as prepared as possible the night before. I slept better last night but I went to bed way too late - so still not enough sleep!

It's cooler here now - yesterday was in the 40s I think. This morning we ran and it was around 37. We did three miles. My friend who always said, "I am not a runner and never will be," is now way faster than I am and we talk a lot so I am keeping up with her but have to take walk breaks every now and then. If we weren't talking so much I might be able to keep up, but I don't know - she has gotten so fast. She says she remembers when I was that fast and she couldn't keep up with me, haha.

Anyway, I haven't been ice skating since maybe high school? I would LOVE to go rollerskating but last time I did it I forgot that I wasn't a teen anymore and I was reckless and ended up cracking my tailbone. Becky, I don't think I could handle that cold and the icy conditions.

Gloria-I sleep terrible because 3 days a week I have to be up at 3:30. I go to bed by 7:30 right now on those days. I will usually wake up between 11:30 and 12:30 and then I have a hard time getting back to sleep. So those days usually are very tough days. I don't function well when I'm tired either. Plus I tend to eat poorly and not exercise like I should. It's hard to find a balance when you have a schedule like yours I'm sure.

I pushed myself to do a 30 min. workout on the treadmill yesterday. I went a little over 30 which is good. No workouts now for the next 2 days seeing as I'm working both of my jobs. The bad thing about getting out so early this time of year is the cold! I want to stay in bed where it's toasty warm, but it's so nice to be able to get off and have the rest of the day to do whatever. Some day I will adjust to this. Everyone else there does.

I would love to see some 70 degree days. We're stuck with the 20's and cloudy. Even a little sunshine would be nice. It's a little icey now since the temps have dropped below freezing. Have to be so careful when walking. I was thinking about ice skating last night. I would love to do that, but I'm not sure what would happen if I fell. I'd have to make sure I had someone with me who could help me up. Otherwise I'd have to crawl somewhere where I could pull my self up. I used to ice skate alot. I loved it. Especially at night. I'm going to see when I'm on break if I can get enough nerve to do it. I'll just have my Chiropractor on stand by! emoticon

Have a nice day!

Becky, I don't want to be working these kind of hours but I really don't have a lot of choice. I have deadlines and the work has to be done or I will get fired at some point. With my health issues and the long commute (it is about 40 minutes to work and about an hour to get home, sometimes longer both ways, especially in the afternoon, it could be closer to an hour and a half), it is just exhausting and I am so stressed all of the time. I can't get anything done at home and I never have time to spend with hubby - that is why I squeeze my workouts in at 5:00 a.m. but honestly, I just dread getting up that early since I never get to bed on time. Last night I DID get to bed on time but then I woke up after three hours and never did get back to sleep, which will make today even more interesting since I do not seem to function well at all on no sleep. Cooking is pretty much an impossibility too and I end up grabbing things that are not necessarily too healthy - and when I am so stressed and tired it is easy to reach for candy.

Cold again today after 70 yesterday, that was nice. I don't think I will get any exercise today. After my running this weekend I need a rest day from that but I could use some strength training. I MUST get back to that somehow but where to squeeze that in? I don't know!

Gloria-That is alot of hrs to work in a week epecially this time of year. I should be working more hrs than I am though. I just have a hard time balancing everything out. I talk about how I'm going to do this and that on my break. Hopefully I will follow thru with it this time and not come up with excuses. I allow myself to get too stressed out over things and I need to stop it. There's always tomorrow.

Our snow has come to an end finally. Because of the rain that fell, we didn't get as much as forecasted even though they say we received 8 inches here. I could take a ruler outside and come up with maybe 4 but definietly not eight. Maybe in snow piles. The temps are suppose to get colder now which will freeze things up and make the snow hard and crunchy.

I went on the treadmill yesterday for almost 4 miles. I'll either do the treadmill or the ellyptical today also. I'm not ready to get out on the roads quite yet. Not until I know they are clear for sure.

Have a nice day!

I just hate the treadmill but have been using it more this past year. I have no idea if I really did 13.1 because my Garmin doesn't play well on the treadmill and the treadmill needs to be calibrated, so I can't go by that - and I am probably the only person in the world who can set the thing on say, 5.0 mph, and have all kinds of different paces for each mile. Sometimes I am running my behind off and going so fast and the treadmill says I am doing a 14.0 min/mile. Sometimes I feel like I am just causally strolling along and it says I am doing an 11.0 min/mile - and I never change the speed on the treadmill so go figure.

Lemur seems like he is stable but I am still not sure he is okay.

It is 70 degrees here today and we have windows open - but don't worry, winter will be back tomorrow, lol

Becky, I am trying not to be jealous of your break from work - I really need something like that. The day I took off to travel to Memphis - I stayed home that day and it felt so good, I feel like I've had a great weekend but starting tomorrow I am looking at probably 60 hours a week for the next three weeks.

13 miles on the treadmill? Very impressed Gloria. My treadmill stops at a certain point because it can only go for so long. Right now I'd take warm and humid. We have snow! The temps arent bad. It's in the 30's which for the most part would be good running outside, but we've had snow, rain, sleet. So it would make for a very slippery time and I'm not willing to tempt it.

So sorry your kitty is sick. We have our dog to the vet to have her bumps, etc. checked. $400 later, we found she is fine. They are all fatty bumps and nothing to worry about. All of her blood work came back normal too. It's probably just arthitis for her right now.

I will be getting on the treadmill today. I have to get back in the groove. I only exercised twice this week. Too many leg aches so I didn't feel like adding more pain. 8 more days of my one job until I have my month break. So ready for that.

Have a nice day. We'll be watching it snow! emoticon

It is so warm and humid here! Crazy December weather. Since I couldn't go to Memphis for the half marathon, I did 13.1 miles on the treadmill - not at all sure how accurate my Garmin is on the treadmill but it said I finished in 2:30:59. However, I did pause it when I stopped for a few minutes and went from one end of the house to the other for something I wanted, so Strava accurately says that it took me 2:38:59 - I am thrilled with the first number, happy with the second, assuming that it is accurate and I really did 13.1! It was so muggy and I was pouring with sweat and my clothes were soaked.

Otherwise, took Lemur to the vet again, just for fluids because he was dehydrated. He seemed to be very perky last night but has been more sedate today. We went to breakfast and had company, then we were out and about and ran into friends so had dinner with them, ran some errands. It seems like it has been a very full day!

Hey All!!!! Happy Friday! It's really warm here (mid-60s) but rainy. I did three miles yesterday with two of my friends and they really pushed me - it wouldn't have been so hard at that pace except I was talking pretty much the whole time - haha! Anyway, I am supposed to do a half marathon in Memphis tomorrow but Lemur needs me at home - he is taking pills and hubby can't give them to him. So I am sad about the half and am trying to figure out how to get a long run in - it is supposed to be storming tomorrow so maybe I could do it Sunday - just not sure yet. Lemur went to the emergency again on Monday night and they think he had a stroke - not 100% sure on that though. He is stable and is improving for the most part - yesterday he seemed like he didn't feel well but today he is up and about and walking well, eating and drinking a little. I am off today because I was supposed to leave for the race this morning but since I am home I am just puttering about, cleaning, organizing and stuff. Tree is up and I am just enjoying hanging around and relaxing. Low stress!

It was a treadmill day yesterday. The roads looked slick and I'm not willing to wipe out. My workout went fast. Today I will get outside seeing as it's suppose to be in the upper 30's. It's the calm before the storm. A wintery mess is in the forecast for the weekend. I may not be able to get outside after today for a couple of days so I want to take advantage of it. So much to do before tomorrow.

Have a great Friday!

Went for a run. Had company. Neighbours dog came along, so I didn't go as far as I had planned. But 3.5 miles was a decent run for this time of year. I am usually snowshoeing, not running. I didn't mind the light rain.

The light snow we had overnight made it quite slippery. The trucks were out so as soon as it gets light out, I'll know if its a treadmill day or an outside day. I've only got today and tomorrow to exercise outside before a storm heads our way. It's possible that my Sunday run will be a treadmill run if we get everything in the forecast.

Have a great day!

The wind is always the worse. It was bitterly cold yesterday. I didn't exercise at all. I won't do anything until Thursday now unless the weather changes and it warms up a bit for me to get out after work. I felt like my legs needed a break. I had terrible leg aches last night so I didn't sleep well. I'm going to keep it at about 3 days now for the next 3 weeks. Afterwards I will be on Winter break at the University so I will be able to increase my exercise then. I'm just going to really concentrate on my eating and getting things done around here.

I'd love to see some 60 degree weather but we'll have to settle for 30's and maybe 40's. Hopefully we won't see much in the way of snow either.

Have a wonderful day!

Congrats on the weight Becky! I am buckling down myself, had veggies, lentils and quinoa for dinner last night, will have leftovers for lunch today. Breakfast salad this morning. Today will be crazy at the office I think but I am going to try to get a short walk, even if it is just a mile or something, that is better than just sitting here for 12 hours! Yesterday went for a run/walk with my friend - honestly a lot more walking that I wanted but we were talking so much that we just kept walking more. Oh well, I am okay with that. Yesterday the weather was amazing, in the 60s, today it is snowing and the wind is howling. Snow won't amount to anything but this wind is fierce and it's cold!

I had a very nice run yesterday. My pace was a little slower, but I felt good. Today I'm hoping to get out for a shorter workout. I'm feeling pretty good especially since I finally broke thru my plateau and my weight is down.

Gloria-I have never heard of that before. I'm glad you finally have a diagnosis. Exercise can be tough but I wouldn't give it up for anything. I always tell people, yes I hurt, but I'm only going to feel worse if I quit. I just listen to my body. I know not to push past my pain. A little discomfort is fine. It will go away, but pain won't. It will affect me for days.

We've had wet, warm, cold days. It's been very gloomy and dark. My hip has been really bothering me the last couple of days. Work was painful. I couldn't wait to be done. I have today off and then I work my other job tomorrow. I'm planning on heading down to the lake this morning for my run/walk. Unfortunately it's going to be cold. Just hope the wind isn't too bad. I haven't fully gotten used to the cold. Temp. wise, the last couple of days of would've been perfect running days. It was in the 40's both days. Plus my stress level was high. I could've used the runs. I've worked thru it though and hopefully things will be better. I made some decisions to ease the stress. Hopefully things will continue to go well thru the holidays.

Have a great Sunday!

Hello! Sorry I have been AWOL again - working working working so many hours, seven days a week. It is just crazy and honestly I don't see the end of it. I think it could be this way for a while but I hope not forever because I just can't handle this type of work load.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We went to Michigan to see my parents for the week and it was so cold and there was snow there at first. I am not accustomed to such weather, yikes! I did two treadmill runs this week, both three milers, and I did a group run at a running store in Michigan on Tuesday night (also three miles). It wasn't a super fast pace by any means because I felt I couldn't breathe well in that kind of cold, plus it was dark and I was a little scared about icy patches. I can't even deal with snow running - we don't get snow here really and so I am kind of scared of it. Last night I did a 5k, weather was great, about 40 degrees - my time was literally one second better than last year - pace was good for me, even with quite a bit of walking it was 11:01 which is better than I've been doing lately.

While we were there we had dinner with friends, breakfast (2x) with my dad, shopped for Thanksgiving dinner and for things my mom needed, cooked Thanksgiving dinner for nine, took mom (she is wheelchair bound) to get a flu shot. It was busy and tiring.

Our last cat is not doing well - he is very old. Vet thinks it is neuropathy - we might have an MRI done to see if it is is anything that can be easily treated but at his age, we aren't going to do anything aggressive - that would not be good for him.

Oh yes, and I do have an official diagnosis (in addition to the unofficial diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis). I have hypermobility syndrome disorder with dysautonomia. It's connective tissue/collagen production disorder. It explains the fatigue, heart arrhythmia, why I am so cold but sweating, digestion issues, and why I get injured so easily. Geneticist has encouraged me to exercise and said I MUST stay active. He is referring me to the autonomic clinic at Vanderbilt but there is a huge waiting list to get in so it could take months. I am glad to have an idea of what is going on now so I can forgive myself whenever my body feels like it is falling apart - it really helps me understand why I can't handle what everyone else can handle - it's not because I am lazy and it's not mental - it is real and I am proud of myself for doing the best I can do and not giving up! From what I was told, people who have this can be wheelchair bound, but they can also do Ironman and CrossFit, and the doctor said if I stay active, I will do much better long term than I will if I quit.

I am not sure how much I will be able to get on here in the next few weeks - but I will try! I do half a half marathon next weekend - I am not really ready for that distance but I have wanted to do this race for YEARS and never could because of work - this is the first (and probably only) time where it worked out with my work schedule - so I will go and enjoy it even if I must walk a lot. I will try to touch base sometime and see how everyone is doing!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Gloria

I hope everyone had a nice day on Thursday. I went for a nice short run with my son and his fiance. I didn't want to over do it and it turned out to be a perfect distance. I didn't over eat.

Today I work and then I'm planning on coming home and doing a little decorating.

Have a great Friday!

Becky

I had a very nice snowy run yesterday morning. I debated about going, but I finally decided to head to the lake. I figured even a mile was better than nothing. I ran 30 min. and then walked the rest of the way. It was nice running in the snow. It was really pretty down there.

I'm suppose to run with my son today. Not sure if my hip is up to it this morning though. I worked last night setting the black Friday sale and my hip was really hurting from the lifting I was doing. I will try and run if he decides to go.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! emoticon
