Thank you so much for this information! I'm sure it will be very helpful. Now I'm hoping my garage will be 50 degrees or above - not so sure that will be the case, but going to give it a try. Much will depend on the type of winter we have. If I find it gets way too cold, I'll just bring them into the basement. Thank you again, I appreciate the information!

Hibiscus trees can’t survive freezing, and they prefer temps of about 50-55 in the winter. There’s some good basic info here: https://www.baltimoresun.com/features/home

Hello fellow sparkers!
We have some rather large hibiscus trees & bushes we bring in every winter...and they suffer all winter long under as much light & care as we can give them in our walk-out basement!
We do have a large garage that has only 1 radiator towards the back wall by a north-facing window. It stays above freezing, but not by much if the winter is especially severe. We're in zone 6b - it sometimes gets down a little below 0 degrees F here outside.
I'm wondering if we can over-winter them in this garage safely, and if so, how do we prepare (prune?) them. Do we water them at all during the winter? Harden them off a bit outside, and to what temperature?
Any information on this topic will be very helpful!
Thank you, and have a great day!
