In 2008, my husband were faced w/the passing of both his mother AND step-mother to sudden, unexpected health problems. (they were ages 58 and 62..too young.)I am lucky to have called them my best friends so the loss was very hard..one even passed in my home and I could not revive her! awful! Anyway, we had such an outpouring of love and support from everyone around us! So lovely! Tina

Sweetness rules!

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it's a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they're terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

We are all blessed to have special people in our lives.

My son, 14 (a thinks he is tough skateboarder - ha ha), will come into my room at night and turn off my night light and take my book from me because I'm usually in bed before him. Then he gives me hug and tells me he loves me. I'm guessing this will end before long but I treasure each night it happens.

All great stories! It really is the little things sometimes.

My boyfriend told me that he very much appreciates when I have dinner ready for him when he's working late, and that I cut up and pack fruit for us every day for breakfast. And he's not even that focused on healthful eating! So I know it's the effort, not the result. Awesome.

A couple days ago, I got a wall post on my FaceBook from a guy that I used to work with - it's been over two years, and I've been back to visit my old office a couple times. He wanted to let me know that his son who must only be about 4 or 5 (so was only 2 or 3 when I last saw him), came into the office the other day and asked "Where's Kelley?" I thought that was SO COOL! And it esp. was cool that Matt thought to let me know what had happened. It made my heart smile!

A couple of nice thing come to mind that have happened to me lately:

My young (12 yrs old) boyfriend who I've been babysitting since he was in diapers when he lost his mom by suicide put his arm around me while we were walking into the library this week, leaned his head against me and told me he was so glad to have me for a friend. Just blew me away! We had just been sitting in taco bell (him eating and talking and me listening and asking a few questions) when he spoke of the things he went through after his mom's death and during the new life that got dropped on him when his dad remarried a (wonderful) woman with 2 boys of her own. My young friend was very candid with his feelings--it was awesome that a pre-teen would do that.

the other nice thing that was done for me is that my DH spent some quality time with me teaching me how to use Lightroom and he did it by listening to my questions instead of what he often does is just lecture and not want to hear my questions. He usually says, "Stop, just listen, you have to learn this...blah, blah" 'till I just want to cry and can't learn anything from him. This time he REALLY listened to me and I actually did learn a lot. That was so sweet!

FORTUNATELY, I had JUST uploaded a lot of my phots (baby pics) to th einternet (yahoo), so I still had the best ones... and mom & dad had a bunch. Photos are irreplacable. Thank God I still had a few good ones left!

Laura, I too can NOT imagine the horror of a fire! Scares the living U know what out of me! I'm so glad no1 was hurt, that U have all brand new, & can start collecting clutter from scratch! LOL! The picture thing & my 4 pieces of antique furniture that belonged to G-parents on both mine & hubby's side, would devastate me. Oh, gotta quit thinking about it, makes me want to cry!

For me, it was this last Sun when the 22 yo came up for a quick visit. He brought me his iPod clip for when I work out. Didn't ask for it, no coaxing, he just thot of me working out & remembered how I was complaining about the arm band I have for my old 1 & how the ear buds won't stay plugged in with it. Keeps coming out as I work out. I may complain about him @ times, but he's a good kid overall! LOL!

Laura, the one thing that frightens me most of all about a fire (aside from someone getting hurt in it) is to lose the irreplaceables like photos, the kids blankies, pictures that they colored -- things like that. How tragic! I am so glad that no one was hurt! Glad that things are coming around and have fun buying all that new stuff!! An excuse to go shopping is always a good one!!!!

After a couple of months of mourning my fabulous shoe collection and my photographs, I was actually not too sad. I was a bit of a collector and I am happier without all of my clutter...
No one was hurt. That would have made me really upset. That's all that mattered.
Anyhow, my DH and I are doing really well financially right now, and it is a good excuse to go and buy NEW stuff! lol!

OMG, Laura -- that is awful! That is probably one of my biggest fears -- a fire! That is awesome that you had that kind of help!

Good morning team! It was so much fun reading all of everyone's posts yesterday! It is funny to hear about different things that bug everyone. All the gripes aside, what was the last nice thing that someone did for you? It can be anything great or small? What was the last thing that someone did for you that gave you that 'warm and fuzzy' feeling?

For me, I would have to say it was my son. This may sound like such a small thing, but he's only 4 and yesterday he was sitting on my lap and completely unprovoked he turned to me and gave me a big hug and told me that he loved me. It made me feel so incredible to know that at such a young age he can do that!! It put a smile on my face that lasted the rest of the day!
