Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it's a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they're terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

This one comes with VERY high recommendations on amazon. You have to have a $25 order to get it though and then the shipping is free. I say totally worth it if this is something you will use a lot anyway.

This page has lots and lots of recipes using even better stuff than corn starch; like tapioca, arrowroot, baking soda, etc. Too many ideas and recipes to paste here so I will just give you the link.
This sight also sells many of the ingredients but I recommend you go to amazon.com or at least compare prices with your local grocery store before buying from this site.

No reason to give up something you love in order to stay healthy. There's always a substitute out there if you look for it.

I'm searching for some cheap, non-toxic bath powders that don't have talc in them. Here's the first one I cam across:
Just take some corn starch and add about 10 to 15 drops of essential oil. Blend in a blender (or I use a clean coffee bean grinder). Then, for baby powder, put in a shaker top container. For dusting powder, put in a covered container about 2 to 3 inches deep. Voila! For babies, lavender essential oil is best. For adults, just use one that is approved for skin contact.
That's from: www.thesmartmama.com/323/
I'll go search some more.

Well phooey! I love talcum powder -- especially after a shower. It helps keep me from sweating so much, especially during the summer. I would like to repeal the law that makes everything I enjoy unhealthy or unsafe! emoticon

That's where my head was too Rebcca. Refused to use it on my babies over 40 years ago because I was told that it was very bad. Used corn starch instead...or nothing. Now I only use it to repel ants away from the hummingbird feeder. It really works for that!

I was aware talcum powder was harmful to health and stopped using it decades ago, but was unaware of just why and how disastrous. Thanks for the link!

I knew that. It can also be used to cause fibrosis of the lungs. Dr.s use in some patients to cause permanent scarring of the lung tissue for patients who develop fluid in there lungs. I was shocked to hear a MD tell a patient that he needed to have it put into his lungs and will cause lung damage.
