I use a combination of Shea butter and coconut oil for scarring, it works. I am on blood thinners so I tend to scar easily.

Good Morning! I hope that all are well emoticon
I don't have ache but I do have oily skin. Would adding coconut oil decrease the oiliness or make it worse? Someone stated that it was great for softening the skin...but I don't want to cause a problem on it emoticon

Coconut oil will moisturize and soften the skin. It's also antibacterial. So I think the answer to your question would depend on how new the injuries are. I don't know that it could eliminate a already -healed wound/scar, but it would help to soften the area and perhaps make it a little less noticeable.

I had an accident on the treadmill and have had some severe injuries on my leg and shoulder. Do you think coconut oil would be any good for the scarring??
I have never used it but some of the replies to the acne question caught my interest.
Any input is appreciated.

Well, I'm well beyond my acne years, but I can tell you what coconut oil has done for me in the past week. Last Thursday I was in for a physical and asked my doctor about a growth on my back that was growing rapidly and was really inflamed because I kept scratching it. I'm a melanoma survivor so these things are serious for me. My dermatologist said he see me Monday. I've been using coconut oil for some time so I thought I'd try it on the growth. I asked DH to rub some in twice a day, starting Thursday night. By the time I saw the dermatologist on Monday, the growth had shrunk by half and all the redness was gone. He removed it as a precaution, but I think he was wondering about my original doctor's diagnosis. My point in telling you all this is if I had acne, I'd certainly try coconut oil on it. I think it may help with the inflammation. It is certainly not going to hurt her.

I have had luck with Tea Tree Essential oil for my adult acne. For more info/options you can search it, There are other Essential oils that may help.
I like coconut oil as a carrier oil to make lotions with essential oils. I haven't tried it on my acne. Good Luck.

My 14 year old daughter has severe acne and I've read that coconut oil can help alleviate the breakouts, the redness (because of it's anti-inflammatory properties) and can repair the skin. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Thank you!
