I'm feeling a sense of freedom from the pressure of having had grades due (they're handed out) and evaluations done for a high stakes program I'm involved in. emoticon

Some students are done with their standardized testing, so they have time to help me get some routine quiz grading done. emoticon

Lots of good things to pick from, fortunately, but I will go with this one: my very, very, very active 7 y.o. son (did I mention that he is ACTIVE?) is playing rugby for a couple of hours, thanks to an angel in the form of a huge Canadian rugby coach (who is also a family friend). In the past, I would have laid around like a giant slug while he was gone, ingesting fistfuls of junk food, and pretend that that was relaxing. Instead, I powered thru a few chores, ate a nutritious breakfast, defused an argument with my grumpy 20 y.o. daughter, and am Sparking it up! Thanks, ladies, for being a good influence on me.

I will find strength in pain and I will change my ways....to live my life as it's meant to be.

thank you for the positive feedback. Yes, oolala, it does serve a purpose. I have used food as anesthesia and entertainment and a host of other things it is not intended for, but it is so helpful to hear from the posters on this page, who can relate rather than be horrified by my admission.

Don't be too hard on yourself, Cannie. I don't think we purposely sabotage ourselves. Our pairings of food with so many situations, internal and external, is a very powerful habit, and in some way, it has served us. It can take a lot to break that bond, but it is doable. We won't stop trying. emoticon

I was SO excited to come across this group. I blogged on SP for the very first time today and the title of the blog is "breaking down a binge". Bingeing is such a frustrating behavior and sometimes I lose hope that I will ever be free. It is hard to turn down pleasure when most of my days are filled with obligations and responsibilities. It embarrasses me that I am so unimaginative that I turn to cheap, sugary, fat-filled food as my main source of pleasure when the world is full of beautiful experiences. I sell myself short.

I will find strength in pain and I will change my ways....to live my life as it's meant to be.

My live-in significant other is away on a business trip today into tomorrow. In the past, I would have used that time alone as one uninterrupted binge. But instead I've planned a lot of activities, and am spending the night at my parents' house to avoid temptation.

Good morning! My one good thing is instead of sitting on my butt this morning and eating everything in sight, I got the house picked up and ate breakfast when I was actually hungry. It felt really good to not only get the house cleaned up, but not pigging out was awesome!

Shelley, awesome on getting rid of the trigger foods! Today is a new day!
Sabrina, great job on realizing what foods aren't good for your body, I so get that but it's hard to let them go for good. You are totally motivating me, wish I would have read your post before I ate that Starbucks maple scone...did you know that has 500 calories...I thought maybe 400....this program is a true reality check.
One good thing for me is that I made myself jog 3 miles this morning even though I wasn't feeling so good

i realised and accepted that certain foods give my body discomfort. My body is telling me by aches that they are not good for me.Instead of ignoring that i will act on that and avoid those foods.

cookies, candy, chips, fried food....

Yesterday I fell off the wagon BIG time. Today was shaping up to be another huge binge day. After lunch, I decided instead to throw away all of the trigger food I had bought for myself, and come here to be inspired instead! That's definitely progress for me! :)

Tomorrow is another day

I have come to terms with my food issues - and when I slip up it's no longer the end of the world..... leading me to throw my hands in the air with disgust and give up.
I enjoy the 'treat' I had - I am not guilty - and just move on from there.
How liberating was that!!

this is a great thing for you. You went from sitting on the sidelines to getting in the game! Sometime, when you least expect it, you'll realize that someone loved you. And that means that someone can love you again! And that'll make you smile.
