I know about The Stick and we have one. My son is a competitive cyclist and we purchased it for him. But my husband & I both use it as well. It is great for doing self massage, especially right after your exercise. We have one of the smaller Sticks..it may be the travel size but I'm not sure. At any rate it is a great product. My massage therapist friend says you can use a rolling pin instead but The Stick is flexible and bends a little around your body parts. I think it's well worth the money. I believe we paid around $35 at a local store that specializes in shoes & clothing for runners.

Hi Patricia! I've never heard of that, but I'll check out the web site. Another great site that I've heard many people rave about is the couch to 5K program. Here's a link to that: www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181

Also, your right on about needing to stretch, but also keeping your muscles hydrated with lots of water helps too.

Happy running!

Runners Stick?

Has anyone ever used one of these, and if so what is your opinion on the product?

I really, really, really, want to get into running 5k and eventually 10k races; I went Tuesday afternoon and ran / walk 3 miles, and my calves today feel like they are in knots! I have tried massaging them, and I feel some relief for a while, but it doesnt last for very long!

I know that I need to stretch, I have bought a stretch-out strap, and need to start using it along with the AM/PM Stretch DVD that I purchased. I just feel that I need something to (as a guy in the office said this morning knead) the acid out of my muscles!

Let me know your opinion if you have tried it, and if you have any other ideas, I would appreciate them too!

BTW, I'm knew to this team, you can visit my SparkPage to learn more about me!
